Dextromethorphan for Cough "Due to a medical condition, I was told this was the safest cough suppressant for me to take. I took it before bed and woke up in the middle of the night extremely nauseous. Although it did suppress my cough, I can do without the nausea!"

Dextromethorphan for Cough "On the wee early hours of Sept. 12, 2020, I ended up in the ER after taking the recommended dose for an adult (10 ml) of Delsym. This cough syrup made me violently sick and caused me to pass out. Long story short, I ended up with right side facial fractures and right shoulder area pain. I've never in my entire life ever had a drug reaction until this. It caused me nausea for 2 days that followed, weakness, and confusion. I can't believe this product is allowed to be purchased OTC. It is toxic and should have a warning label on it. I hope others don't go through what I did."

For Cough "Took my first dose last night before bed since I have been having a nagging cough from allergies. Helped suppress the cough a little (not completely), but I was up on and off all night with anxiety, nausea, night sweats, and of course, coughing. It is now 2 pm the following day, and I have been extremely dizzy all day and have been having very gassy diarrhea and stomach cramps. I have been stuck at home all day feeling bad. Will never use this medication again. I prefer coughing over vertigo and diarrhea."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "Delsym 12-hour cough medicine should be avoided at all costs. I wish I had never taken it. At first, it seemed to work, but then came the diarrhea, nausea, and dizziness. I had trouble sleeping while taking this product. After 2 doses, it triggered a histamine reaction as well. Before taking this product, my only ailment was a lingering cough from having a cold. After taking Delsym, I'm still dealing with the cough, but now I also have diarrhea, and all the symptoms that come with full-blown allergies. I can't wait until my body completely purges this horrible product from my system."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I used this because I had a terrible cough, so I took it before bed. I was up all night, nauseous and feeling terrible. Then I threw up from this medicine. I don’t recommend this, it shouldn’t be sold if all it’s going to do is make you throw up."

For Cough "I thought I was going crazy till I read the reviews here. Dextromethorphan did work pretty well on my cough, but caused nausea, diarrhea, and a near panic attack. I have an anxiety disorder, and I wish I’d known about the possible effects on mood before taking it."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I was a little nervous to take this medication after reading all the negative reviews about horrible diarrhea and nausea. I suffer from IBS, gastritis, GERD, and endometriosis, so my intestines are an absolute mess. I am usually very sensitive to medications, but I was willing to risk it due to having a horrible cough from a virus of some sort. I have been sick for days, and the cough was keeping me up at night, so I gave it a go. Delsym worked absolute wonders for me! Slept all night with no cough and never had any kind of negative effect on my GI system. I would highly recommend this medication if you have a nagging cough."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I realize everyone is different, but I'd like to share what happened to me after taking two small sips of Delsym. I had a cough that was driving me crazy, so my wife goes out and buys this. I had never taken it, and my wife assured me that it was good stuff. I ended up taking two small sips from the bottle-definitely less than the recommended dose-and just like everyone else, I got diarrhea. While on the toilet, I started feeling nauseous and felt like I was going to puke. Next thing I know, my head was on the floor upside down, I passed out and had no idea what happened. I picked myself back up (I'm still on the toilet, by the way) and started sweating profusely. I turned to puke in the tub and passed out again, banging my head so hard my wife heard it downstairs. I picked myself up again, and in about 2-3 minutes, I started feeling okay. Just a warning, folks, from a guy that's healthy, doesn't do drugs, and isn't on any sort of medications at all."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I do not recommend the use of Delsym 12 Hour Cough Relief. It was recommended to me by a pharmacist to help with a COVID cough. I have high blood pressure, and according to the pharmacist, this would raise BP. At 11:00 pm (bedtime), I took the prescribed dosage. At 1:30 am, I awoke with severe nausea, stomach cramps, dizziness. A few minutes later, diarrhea with numerous trips throughout the night. I sipped on water and tried soda crackers to help with nausea. My blood pressure was 200/100. For 12 hours, I was extremely ill. The next day, I went to urgent care. The diagnosis was side effects from Delsym 12 Hour. I believe this drug should come with warnings of these side effects and be removed as an over-the-counter drug."

For Cough "I have a cough that I tried 2 prescription nasal sprays for, but neither is helping. I can’t take steroids because of the side effects. I bought an off-brand of Robitussin CF yesterday and took a dose at 9 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. Never again! It’s 6:30 a.m. the next morning, and I’m still very jittery and nauseous with absolutely no appetite whatsoever! They need to take this off the shelves! I called the hospital last night and was told it would be okay to take my prescription Diazepam, so I did. Went to sleep and woke at 5 feeling horrible, so I took another Diazepam (I have GAD)."

For Cough "Took 2 doses of this today, per the instructions. The first time I was a bit nauseous, but figured it was because I hadn't eaten much. Now I took it about 3 hours ago and have such intense nausea, cramping, and explosive diarrhea. Plus, my mouth feels like I ate cotton balls for dinner, and I can't stop shaking. Never use, no matter how bad your cough is. Absolute worst product ever and doesn't even contain a list of potential side effects like every other drug out there. If any of these side effects had been listed anywhere on the box or label, I never would have taken it, even if I were paid to do so. I used the maximum strength Robitussin CF. Not even my prescription ondansetron for nausea (which is used to treat nausea in chemo patients) will touch this."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I took this medicine around midnight last night after being tired of trying to hold back a cough, and it worked pretty quickly. I also had hot water with lemon and honey, so that probably helped too. However, around 5:00 am, I woke up with severe cramping and diarrhea. I spent two hours running back and forth to the bathroom. I also experienced nausea and dizziness. But hey, it got rid of my cough... not worth it."

For Cough "DO NOT TAKE THIS!!! I started having cold symptoms and started taking this. Woke up with the taste of DayQuil in my mouth as if I just let the pill dissolve in my mouth. I sat up, and the room was spinning, my heart was beating so fast it was hurting my chest. I thought I was DYING!!! I went to the ER and had an icy feeling in my stomach and felt nauseous the rest of the night. A couple of days later, I was diagnosed with Covid. I thought that reaction was from Covid after I was diagnosed. I recently went to the doctor a couple of days ago and told them about the experience and was informed that it had nothing to do with Covid, it was THIS medicine!"

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I took it for nasal congestion because, for some reason, that’s what I thought it was for, and it was the orange syrup version. It cleared up my sinuses pretty much 100%, so I’m really impressed with it. I must be lucky because I ended up taking half the bottle (over a long period of time) and didn’t experience any nausea, whereas a lot of people say they were vomiting with only one dose (by the way, the amount I drank is safe because it was pure dxm HBr)."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "Delsym Cough (orange flavored) has really worked on my cough. I did have a pretty good headache, but I took ibuprofen for that. I have not experienced any stomach problems other than nausea when I woke up this morning, and I threw up. I was able to go to work today."

For Cough "I have had a dry cough for over a week. I saw the ad for this cough suppressant, so I bought it. I noticed no coughing almost immediately, but it only lasted about an hour. I went to bed and, at midnight, woke up to use the bathroom. I thought my guts fell out. The nausea and diarrhea were so intense, I thought I had food poisoning. Dextromethorphan for Cough "I recently came down with COVID, and this was suggested for the cough. About an hour and a half after taking, I went to bed. I proceeded to have terrorizing rapid random images fire off in my head all night long, and I’ve never done drugs, but I’m sure that’s what an acid trip feels like. I had to contend with these nonsensical weird images all night, as well as with severe nausea and diarrhea. Also, a terrible feeling of being overheated. It’s more than 14 hours later, and I still have remnants of the weirdness in my head, as well as gut issues. This medicine is very toxic! Do not take!!"

Dextromethorphan for Cough "I've used this product before with no problems. However, I took a dose at 6 AM this morning because of a nagging cough and have been extremely sick ever since. Horrible diarrhea, dizziness, and nausea. Sitting in bed with a trash can next to me, wishing that I would just throw up so I'd feel better. I hope this doesn't last 12 hours. I'm getting too old to waste a day in bed."

Dextromethorphan for Cough "Took Delsym 12 hours after spending a whole day coughing. I am at the end of what appears to be a chest infection. Spent Friday all day coughing, so I purchased Delsym and took it Friday night. Also ate chicken that night. I stopped coughing Friday evening, I guess from the Delsym. Woke at 2:20 am, so nauseous that I assumed I had food poisoning. Stood over the toilet to throw up and instead, it was all just gas. Drank a carbonated water and fell back asleep. Didn't equate this with the cough medicine, still thought it was a mild case of food poisoning. Took it again Saturday morning and was miserable all day! TERRIBLE SATURDAY. I was so dizzy, nauseous, and super gassy again. That's when I realized it was the Delsym. It was a horrible Saturday, and it did take a full 12+ hours to go away. DON'T TAKE THIS STUFF!"
