For Kidney Infections "I have been taking these tablets since late Tuesday. I'm on a 500mg, 10-day cycle for a chronic kidney infection. The hospital sent me away with the tablets and advised that if I was no better within 48 hours, I was to go straight to A&E. I have taken 4 tablets now. I was feeling sick and vomiting before I started to take these tablets, so I can't blame that on the tablet now. I can honestly say the only problems I am having with this tablet are the dreams, they are so awful, vivid, and terrifying. It's hard to try and get back to sleep when you know what you're gonna face on the other side, but all I want to do is sleep and rest. Overall, I genuinely think the tablets are doing their job. I shall let you know if I end up in the hospital this evening."

For Diverticulitis "Was prescribed Cipro 2x/day with Flagyl 3x/day, and they seemed to work, although not as quickly as other reviewers. Not sure if it was the Cipro alone or the combination, but nausea was the main symptom. I would be fine for a few hours after the Flagyl, but within an hour of taking the Cipro, I would have to lay down due to nausea and exhaustion. Still taking it and counting the days. Hopefully, will not have an occasion to use this again."

For Diverticulitis "I was on Cipro for my first diverticulitis episode and had no clue why I felt so poorly. I am now on my second flare-up and again on Cipro 2x a day, and after five days, I finally decided I had had enough. My skin feels like it is on fire, I cannot sleep at all, I am nauseated, and my muscles hurt in my arms, legs, and neck. I am also experiencing confusion and fatigue. If I had paid more attention to the drug information, I would never have taken this again. My diverticulitis pain is better, but this is not worth it!"

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed Cipro along with prednisolone and ceftazidime intravenous. Started to have dizzy spells as the growth of Pseudomonas in my lungs was heavy. Nausea remains unchanged. Wanted to stop it due to side effects, but the doctor told me to continue due to chances of infection returning. It's not that bad compared to having a killer bacteria in your lungs and taking this nasty drug. My votes towards this drug are positive, I see my infection clearing up. Prescribed for 2 weeks. 1 already gone. 1 more to go."

For Bacterial Infection "Had food poisoning 4 weeks ago, tried treating earlier, but the doctor insisted I ride through it with my symptoms such as diarrhea, dehydration, and nightly chills, hence the length of time. It did not get better, and I was so fed up, so I took Cipro today. Feeling generally tired, nauseous, diarrhea/tummy pain stopped immediately (aware of the side effect as I had used it years ago), hoping all other symptoms will clear by day 3."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I wish they had me something with fewer side effects, since I haven't had a UTI in 5 years and this is the 2nd one I've ever had. I'm not immune to antibiotics because I'm never on them. I have a headache, muscle and joint pain, and I feel very nauseated. I'm now on my 2nd dose, and my urinary tract feels 85% better, though. I'm praying I don't get tendinitis or nerve damage, as it says in the warnings. I have to take this for 5 days."

For Sinusitis "I’m allergic to most antibiotics. Cipro is the only one I can take without severe side effects off and on for 20 years. The only side effect for me over the years - with never more than 10 days at a time prescription - is a very mild stomach ache. Almost all other antibiotics make me feverish, very dizzy and lightheaded, give me hives, cause facial swelling, make me feel hot then get chills, cause diarrhea, nausea, sometimes debilitating fatigue. … I have used Cipro for UTIs and currently sinusitis. It’s a lifesaver with hardly noticeable side effects for me, who had a very sensitive system and rarely takes medication."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed this medication for a UTI, and two days on a twice-a-day dose, I began to experience serious nausea. Thinking it would pass and this would be the only side effect, I continued to take this medication. On day 4, I started to become feverish at a temperature of 102, and on day 6, I ended up going to the emergency room because of extreme discomfort. If this is the primary medication your doctor prescribes you for a UTI, I would not recommend it. It was causing my liver to malfunction!"

For Crohn's Disease "OMG! I was given this for colitis and had the worst side effects ever! Initially, I just had bad headaches, dizziness, and vomiting. The doctor prescribed anti-nausea medication for nausea and said to take Tylenol. By day 4 of a 10-day course, I am having crazy thoughts, nightmares, and even hallucinated a super scary being. Scared my husband and child, screaming my lungs out in terror. Off the scale anxiety, agitation, and hysterical crying, which caused me to melt down at my job of 30 years! This has been a complete nightmare. The side effects are heinous and can have long-term consequences. For your sake and sanity, stay far, far away from this dangerous drug! I took it for colitis and still have pain, so not sure if it even helped."

For Urinary Tract Infection "On holiday in Thailand when I came down with a severe UTI. I have regular UTIs at home, and my doctor usually prescribes Macrobid, which works fine for me. After we went into 3 pharmacies, we quickly realized they don’t seem to stock Macrobid, only ciprofloxacin, so after Googling and looking into it, I decided to buy. This was evening. The first tablet worked fast, and the burning sensation was gone overnight. I didn’t experience any symptoms, so in the morning, I took the second tablet. However, I was quickly struck with nausea and slight shaking, so I have decided that although the antibiotic seems to work for the infection, I do not want to risk any severe side effects, so I will continue drinking lots of water, and if it has not gone, I will see a doctor at home instead."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had this for pelvic inflammatory disease. I immediately experienced fatigue and was extremely sick to my stomach for weeks afterward. Soon after that, I got crippling leg pain and migraine headaches on a regular basis. The headaches continued to get worse till they were every day. I also have pain in the tendons around my eyes and pretty bad stomach issues from this medication. I've been on a downward spiral that keeps getting worse because of the mitochondrial damage I've endured. I hope to recover, but it's been 7 years since taking it and haven't been the same since, just keeps getting worse!!!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "Was given this to treat epididymitis, which hurts like a mother. Within two hours of taking the first tablet, the ache in my scrotum had gone! Outstanding result. However, as I continued with the course, I began to suffer side effects - the first two doses were fine, but after taking the third tablet, I began to feel nauseated - sick, dizzy, sensitive to light, headache, drowsy, and some strange cramping in my fingers. I contacted my GP, who said he wasn't concerned and added that surely this was preferable to the pain I had been suffering prior to taking the medication? Well, yeah, but... y'know... the side effects are horrid. I rate the drug highly for doing what it's supposed to. It's early days in my treatment, but the pain is gone."

For Sinusitis "I have a splitting headache, am nauseous, and having episodes of sweating and shaking after taking 6 doses of oral Cipro. My ENT wants to have the Cipro compounded so it could be added to nasal rinses twice a day for 30 days to avoid systemic problems. Has anyone else gone this route?"

For Urinary Tract Infection "Diagnosed with a UTI. It was either in its very early stages, or my own immune system was doing a fair job combating the infection, since I didn't realize I had the UTI until a general wellness exam revealed its presence. My doc prescribed Cipro, 500 mg X2 daily for a week. I had never taken this type/class of antibiotics, and I had no known allergies of any kind. About a half-hour after swallowing the first pill, I felt hot, dizzy, nauseous, and within five minutes of those symptoms, I started violently vomiting...the kind of projectile launching that feels like it originates in your toes. About an hour later, shaking and weak, I contacted my doctor's office for a different Rx. I'll never again take Cipro-Floxa-anything."

For Diverticulitis "I tolerate cipro a lot better than I did the Flagyl. I have taken both together at the same time, and that was awful, horrible taste, made me severely nauseous. I would have to take it early in the morning and go back to bed for at least an hour or so. I am starting to think I might need surgery to fix what's happening. I just finished one course of antibiotics, and 3 weeks later I'm having another flare-up. I am getting really tired of this cycle."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I'm giving this medicine a rating of 4 out of 10. I was prescribed this when I went to the doctor with a horrible ear infection. The right side of my face was swollen and my ear was almost swollen shut! I had already felt dizzy and nauseous because of my ear infection, so when it continued, I just thought it was my ear infection. My ear infection cleared up and I still had a day left of the meds. As soon as I took my morning dose, I got extremely nauseous and shaky. I do not recommend these to anyone. I've never had an antibiotic make me feel this sick. I even tried taking it with food, and it still didn't help. I've also been extremely bloated and have had diarrhea since I started taking it. I know everyone is different, but this is horrible."

For Urinary Tract Infection "1st UTI, considered a very severe case - given 500 mg twice a day for 10 days, aside from mild nausea, all UTI symptoms disappeared within 2 days - must admit the contradictions made me think twice about taking it - however, the considerable discomfort made an easy choice!"

For Prostatitis "I’ve had one course and have chronic fatigue symptoms, heart pounding, shaking, and burning in my left arm through to my thumb, and if I stand up, I feel like throwing up. I break into tears every few hours and asked my misses if she would help me do a will. My head hurts, and I can’t remember things, and my eyes hurt, and I have a constant humming in my head and can’t sleep as I’m in a constant panic attack with a pounding heart. That was 4 days ago, and only two tablets 500. Imagine how you would be after a course of 28, two a day. I've never been so sick and scared. Read the reviews and take note of the percent that it helps. You have one body and one life, and everyone reacts differently. I hope this makes you do your research as it’s not the only antibiotic, but it’s pushed first and has the most severe side effects."

"Went to the dermatologist after a nasty-looking rash popped up. Turns out I had hot tub folliculitis. Taking the ciprofloxacin to get rid of it. Seen a massive improvement in just two days, but I'm not fond of the side effects. My sinuses drain, so I get nauseous. I sneeze more than normal. Nausea if taken on an empty stomach, and just overall malaise. Hopefully, I won't be on it too much longer, but I have to say, it works really well."

For Bacterial Infection "I got a hernia from lifting a suitcase, we suspect. The hernia was inguinal. At the same time, I had a smaller one in the abdominal wall. It was untreated for some time (over a month) as I didn't notice it. I'm not sexual. The doctor said this is not uncommon in males over 40. Discovered all this after an ultrasound. Non-sexual epididymitis from urinary infection. Rx Cipro, immediate abdominal bloat, sluggish and exhausted feeling, and nausea. 2 times/po/daily... Ugh... research into WHY is needed."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I had intercourse with my boyfriend on a Saturday. On Sunday around 7:30, I started feeling like I was getting a UTI (minor burning, bladder pain, etc.), so I started drinking a lot of water to flush it out like I normally would. Within two hours, my urine had blood in it, and I was almost crying from the pain, so I went to urgent care, where they diagnosed cystitis. They gave me 500 mg Cipro, a nine-day prescription. I see a lot of people who get nauseous from it, and I did too at first, but when they say to make sure you eat first and then drink a lot of water, they're not kidding. It helps. My main side effect has been tiredness and a little bit of muscle/joint pain."

For Bladder Infection "I had left an earlier review when starting. I was prescribed this medication, 500 mg twice a day for 5 days. For the first 3 days, it gave me a terrible fever, 103, 102.9, 102.8. I then did research and took an over-the-counter Tylenol with the prescribed medication, which helped with the fevers. This medication also gave me severe nausea, I was only eating two pieces of dry toast twice a day. I will not be using this medication again, hope it helps others though. Two weeks out, and the infection has gotten a little better but not gone."

For Salmonella Gastroenteritis "I was diagnosed with Salmonella poisoning on Tuesday. Been sick for 8 days now. Had severe nausea, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. The first time I took Cipro, it was okay, good enough to eat chicken noodle soup. The next morning I wasn’t able to eat (wasn’t able to eat whatsoever), so I pushed myself to eat 4 crackers and a ton of water to at least have something in my system, and it made me EXTREMELY nauseous. Cipro makes me very drowsy, so I was able to eventually ease the nausea and fall asleep for two hours, after that, I felt fine. I also take Zofran (I have a fear of puking and being nauseous) to help ease my nausea along with Xanax for my anxiety. It is safe to mix these as there are no interactions unless allergic. Just took my third one, and I am extremely bloated. Cannot get comfortable. Not sure if it’s related to my period or the Cipro, either way, it’s a very uncomfortable but tolerable feeling. Hoping the 4th pill I’ll be okay enough to at least eat two meals a day."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed it for a kidney infection that I may or may not have had. They did no further testing besides a urinalysis to see if I had an STI. I took it from Wed to Sun and stopped taking it Sunday due to nausea. Now it is Tuesday evening, and I am still nauseous, feel dissociated and weak. This drug is the only antibiotic with a BLACK BOX WARNING, it should not be prescribed unless very serious. Try Bactrim for that. The adverse reactions are muscle pains, tendon rupture, GI upset, nausea, vomiting, low blood sugar, and mental health effects. I have been struggling with my mental health, and now this is added on top of it. I should have known better than to take this med."

For Bacterial Infection "I took ciprofloxacin to treat a gut infection caused by Aeromonas that showed up on a stool test. I was first prescribed Bactrim, which caused intense tachycardia, dizziness, nausea, and dysphoria. Cipro did cause waves of dizziness and nausea, which meant I couldn't drive right after taking it. It would have been a problem if I had been working. But in the end, the side effects were mostly tolerable, knowing that the infection had to be dealt with. After I finished my 10-day course, I had some weakness and exercise intolerance. My doctor prescribed supplements to rebuild my mitochondria."
