For Urinary Tract Infection "Left the hospital yesterday after having stones removed and a kidney stent put in place. Approximately 12 hours after taking this drug, I have severe tingling, shivers, and nausea. All these symptoms are worse than anything I was experiencing from the removal of the stones. I went to the emergency ward tonight as I thought I had a severe UTI. The locum confirmed I was okay. I mentioned this drug, and he stated these were okay. It was not until I looked up these side effects that I realized how dangerous they are. I have stopped taking these immediately. What is it with these doctors, do they check anything."

For Kidney Infections "I am taking this medicine for a bladder infection, which I have quite often. It wasn't prescribed to me by my doctor, who usually prescribes (Pinamox), which by the way gives me zero side effects. Straight away after I took the first dose, which was 500 mg, I was feeling very dizzy and nauseous. I thought I could put up with that feeling, but I'm now on day 2. I could barely get out of bed from nausea in the morning but managed to get myself together, but felt all day like I was about to collapse with severe joint pains and a headache, which got even worse. I went to bed, but when I did, it felt like I was literally drunk and kept vomiting all night. I won't take the next dose or ever take this medicine again, as it feels like taking poison."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I am on 500 mg 2x a day for 5 days. The UTI is better, the side effects are horrible. I am nauseous, have zero energy, and I can't put two thoughts together. This started the very next day and has continued. I hate it. I am in a very intense season in my work, and I have not been able to do anything. Never again."

For Bladder Infection "Within 10 minutes, I'm dizzy and sleepy. I wake up 2 hours later, confused and slightly dizzy. My upper abdomen feels like I have an ulcer, and I'm extremely nauseous. I ate an apple and felt better. It's 3 am, and I can't sleep."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Was prescribed ciprofloxacin for UTI. Side effects made me contact the GP to swap to alternative medications. I’m not usually bothered by side effects, but I felt so nauseous and aching limbs that I had to stop this drug. Just hope there’s no lasting damage, as I hear some people have problems for years after taking this drug."

For Bladder Infection "Have an acute UTI which comes on very, very quickly, so have to go to A & E for intravenous antibiotics. This is the 3rd infection in 3 months, but the hospital keeps prescribing Ciprofloxacin 500 mgs, fine for a short while, but the infection starts again, with lots of blood in my urine. I experience dizziness, nausea, and some pain. This time, along with the Cipro, I've been prescribed Naproxen. Have an appointment with a urologist soon and hoping he will prescribe something different and that works. My life is on hold at the moment and totally fed up."

For Kidney Infections "Day 2, three tablets down, about to take my second one and last one for the day. I'm an anxious person generally, so of course I looked up the side effects... The ones I've experienced are extreme nausea, bloating, gas, feverishness, dizziness, hot and cold sweats. But only three tablets in, and it's helping a lot with the pain in the kidneys on and off, though. Got to say the nausea is the worst part, I'm practically bedbound. Most of this is probably due to how bad my infection, but it got worse after taking ciprofloxacin."

For Urinary Tract Infection "In 2011, a doctor prescribed this medication for my 82-year-old mother for a severe UTI, given in lieu of hospitalization. Within an hour of the first dose, she became very ill, nauseated, and vomiting. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where her heart stopped. During the next two days on life support, her systems began to fail. She died the morning of the second day. Doctors would not attribute her sudden illness and death to the medication, but there is no other explanation. We discovered later that this drug is not recommended for older people. I can only say that a healthy woman died after taking one dose. Her cause of death was listed as heart failure and renal failure, but no cause for either. Ask for an alternative treatment."

For Kidney Infections "Have been taking Cipro for 5 days now for a severe bladder infection. Had completely taken my pain away that was at a level 10 by day 2. However, the side effects have been horrible. Nausea even with food, light-headed, motion sickness, bloating, and I seem to be constipated. So far, this is a small price to pay for the horrendous infection to be gone."

For Bladder Infection "Oh, where do I start! Well, I had the bladder infection for 3 days prior to going to the doctor. He prescribed me cipro, and the infection stayed the same. I gained many other side effects from this antibiotic to add to the wonderful pain and discomfort I was already in: nausea, diarrhea, headaches, and sharp stomach pains. Not impressed, for I paid a whopping amount of 30 dollars! Not satisfied!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "Everyone reacts differently to medications. For me, Cipro is always a fast-acting antibiotic. I've only taken it a few times for severe UTIs/kidney infections, and it helped tremendously within the first few days. With the amount of pain I've gotten from UTIs, I'd be willing to risk the crazy side effects that some people have had. I rarely take antibiotics unless I have to. This one will treat just about anything, and I've only experienced a few minor side effects like nausea, dizziness, agitation, headache, fatigue, and stomach upset. Nothing too crazy."

For Bladder Infection "I took Cipro for 5 days. It made me sick! I had nausea, body aches, chills, diarrhea, headaches, dizziness! My UTI is gone. I took the last pill 2 days ago, and the drug hasn't completely left my body yet! I'm not taking Cipro ever again!"

For Bladder Infection "On holiday in Florida (from Canada) and got UTI after many years with no problems. Cipro was prescribed, and although it has helped, the side effects are almost unbearable! My joints ache, I'm dizzy and nauseous, can't get to sleep, and had terrible abdominal and vaginal pain. Also, you can't have dairy or any vitamins 2 hours before to 4 hours after taking the meds. If this had been my family doctor instead of the doctor's PA at the walk-in clinic, I'd certainly give him an earful!! I'm only halfway through the course of meds (required a full 10 days) and will make note of this medicine so that I will NEVER take it again!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I went to the hospital Tuesday night because of stomach pain, and I felt nauseous. They told me I had a bad UTI, and some of the infection was in my kidneys, that's why I was so nauseous. So they prescribed me Cipro. I have 500 mg, 20 tabs. It says take one tablet twice a day, but it lacks to say how many hours apart. This has been my worst experience ever!!! And I really hate this drug. Every time I take it, I'm throwing up. I've been able to eat a VERY LITTLE more than I was, but I haven't really eaten for the past 4 days. I've been throwing up everything. It makes my stomach hurt and makes it hard for me to fall asleep. I have another week’s worth of pills, but I'd rather die than take these pills. Also, is it best to eat before?"

For Kidney Infections "I was rushed to the emergency room with a kidney infection, and I was prescribed this to help treat the urinary tract infection. The worst part was definitely the side effects. I've had extreme nausea and bloating pains, they have been unbearable. I must say the medicine really works! After I finished my antibiotics, it was completely gone. I was more than surprised. I still have some side effects now (I got off medicine two days ago), but they aren't as severe as before. If you're up for the task, definitely take it because it works-just some obstacles in the process."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I've been on ciprofloxacin for two days now, it's a total of three days' worth of antibiotic. This is my first time taking it, and it seems to have cleared up the main reason I got prescribed the medicine, but the side effects are unbearable most of the time. Long bouts of nausea that come out of nowhere at random times, pain and tightness in my sternum, painful gas, and soft stools numerous times a day, and just an all-around feeling of bad to the point where I may not take my last dose because I'm afraid I will be up again half the night with discomfort. I've been on other antibiotics before, but I've never had this many side effects. I suppose it may help some people without the side effects, it just depends on how your body handles it."

For Kidney Infections "Got diagnosed with my third kidney infection in two months, nothing seems to make it go away. Have been taking 500 mg twice a day for 3 days now, and I still have pain in my side, and the side effects are nasty. Bad nausea, acid reflux, and dizziness are making me have to sleep with a bowl next to my bed. But hey ho, if it works, it's a small price to pay. Not impressed right now though."

For Urinary Tract Infection "After reading the good and bad reviews, I thought I would give it a go. Never again! I was okay for about 2 days. On the third day, I couldn't stop vomiting, I felt like I couldn't breathe properly, and was dizzy. Just thinking about these tablets one year on, and I feel nauseous!"

For Sinusitis "Where do I begin? I took it for a sinus infection and not the recommended twice daily, but only once per day because I couldn't tolerate it more than that. My face and body felt like it was on fire, and my skin coloring was red like I was burning up on the outside and inside. I had nausea, diarrhea, ear and throat itching, mind alteration (couldn't comprehend things like normal), skin puffiness/swelling, stomach pain, taste distortion, high pulse rate, dizziness, fatigue, weight gain, decrease in appetite, frequent burning urination, and even a stuffier nose than when I started it. Now it is in my chest and in my nasal cavities. I just want to feel better. This is awful!!!!"

For Prostatitis "I'm 20, and I had problems urinating for days and went to the hospital for back and abdominal pain as well, but they couldn't find anything wrong. After going through 2 more doctors, one suggested quickly looking at my prostate, and I had acute prostatitis. Took Cipro that night and have never felt worse. Within 2 hours, I couldn't eat, everything I did made me want to throw up, and all I could do was lie in my bed in a ball. Went to the doctor again, and he prescribed Bactrim since it's easier on nausea. The nausea has gone down a little, but Cipro stays in your system for 48 hours, so I still feel awful and will never be able to take it again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Eased the symptoms of urinary tract infection in 2 days. Side effects are pretty bad, though. I was prescribed the 500 mg twice a day, and every time I've taken the pill, I feel extremely nauseous for at least an hour or two. I'm only on the second day, and I feel so sick after taking it, and have vomited once because of it. I have followed the instructions and taken it with food every time. These side effects just seem unavoidable for me."

Ciprofloxacin for Urinary Tract Infection "On the 7th and last day for taking Cipro, I developed a rash with no itching on most of my body. After 2 weeks, I still have some rash and also nausea. My doctor said Cipro had nothing to do with either. It did clear up my UTI infection, but should I not take Cipro ever again? Thanks."

For Diverticulitis "I went to the doctor for simple gas pains. Bladder was checked and bowels were checked. No blood was found. Was sent for an immediate blood test which showed signs of infection. Was prescribed Cipro and Flagyl and was sent for barium for CT scan of the abdomen the next morning. The barium produced severe diarrhea, but CT showed acute inflammation of the colon. I took the Cipro and Flagyl and was nauseated and had diarrhea for 7 days. I finished the Flagyl, but had 3 more days of Cipro to go. On the 8th day, the nausea and weakness were so bad along with back pain and joint pain. I couldn't take it anymore, so I quit the Cipro 2 days early. 24 hours later, I resumed my multivitamins and Simvastatin and had a little diarrhea, but it has stopped now."
