For Sinusitis "Sinus infection: Started using this product 4 days ago, and so far nothing is happening. Still total congestion, massive sinus headaches on and off (more on than off), the only thing this medication has managed to give me is diarrhea. Will give this another day, then go back to the doctor. Not sure this is the right medication for me."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I was prescribed cefuroxime for a swollen throat and post-nasal drip problem that I had been suffering from for more than 30 days. I was prescribed 500 mg, twice daily, for 10 days. After reading some of the other reviews, I decided to take a probiotic pill after the first pill and a probiotic yogurt after the second pill. I took the probiotics two hours after taking each pill. It worked perfectly. I had no side effects whatsoever, except for a small headache the second day. I found the large pill a little hard to swallow, so I simply split the pill in half and took each half with food. I did not find the taste of the pill as bad as others reported. After seven days, I discontinued the drug as it did not seem to solve the problem. I am certain other users may have a different outcome, so I will not give the drug a bad rating. I just wanted to report how well I tolerated the drug without side effects. Hope this helps someone else. Good luck!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I am a 39y male. UTI symptoms along with back pain. Doctors took my urine sample, and while waiting for the results, put me on this Ceftin 500 mg x 2 a day. Started this medicine 8 days ago, at first, I felt relief, then symptoms were intermittent on and off until day 7 when I started feeling better. Back pain is gone, and no painful urination. Meanwhile, my doc called me and told me there is no infection and further testing is needed. It might be that my prostate could have been infected, not sure. Overall, I feel it is working, will see on day 10 when I finish it."

For Bronchitis "I get bronchitis at least once a year. Z-Pak stopped working a couple of years ago, and my doctor has used this antibiotic, cefuroxime, the last two times I have come down with bronchitis. Both times, it has significantly helped by the second day. I have not experienced any side effects from this medication. So thankful for this antibiotic."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was diagnosed with a UTI on Jan 28, 2020, and my doc prescribed me this cefuroxime medicine to be taken 2x a day for 5 days. I just started taking it an hour ago, and then I vomited. I felt better somehow. It's my first time to experience vomiting while on antibiotics, but I hope this would help clear up any infections and no vomiting anymore. I must finish this medication for 5 days, as prescribed. All the best wishes for us during this hard time."

For Sinusitis "I was afraid to take this based on reviews. Took it anyway. No issues first 3 days besides some minor stomach cramps. Woke up on day 4 in a stinky night sweat, thought that was very strange (I never usually have a body odor, not even when I sweat). Thought maybe I was sweating some kind of infection out. Bizarre. Noticed on night 4 that I was able to take in a deep breath again for the first time in months! Woke up on day 5 with semi-diarrhea. 5 more days to go. We'll see. I'll update this review when I finish the course. I feared taking this because of the stomach effects as I just had two precancerous polyps removed from my colon 1 month ago, but so far it's been totally tolerable. I haven't taken it with probiotics or yogurt or bananas, just water. I did notice the nasty taste when swallowing the pill on the 4th night for the first time since starting the med, so the bad taste thing might be progressive for some because I didn't notice it until day 4. I've been taking it at 9 a.m. and bedtime."

For Bacterial Infection "Just started Ceptin for an infection of the inner ear. Taken twice daily for only 2 full days. Some relief from pain, but the ear is still severely stopped up. Almost no hearing in that ear, except my own heartbeat... rather annoying, but beats the alternative... Have seen many complaints of bad gastrointestinal problems... my suggestion is to take probiotics while on the drug. I have no problem with taking it... Note: take at least an hour apart from antibiotics. Works well for me. Hope my ear unstops soon."

For Bronchitis "I usually get bronchitis every year, which requires a trip to the doctor who prescribes puffers and drugs like Bactrim. This time, I was prescribed cefuroxime, generic name Zinnat here in Australia. I took 2 with dinner at night, then 2 with breakfast and started to feel good from my almost comatose state. I found it to be really effective, thank you for this drug. My night sweats stopped, no more saturated sheets through the night. On the mend."

For Sinusitis "I went to the emergency room with a sinus infection on a Monday and picked up a bottle of Ceftin a few hours later. By the following Sunday, nothing had changed. I still had the aches, dizziness, and bouts of confusion and disorientation that had sent me to the hospital in the first place."

Cefuroxime for Sinusitis "This is my first time using Ceftin for a sinus infection. I have had many sinus infections over the years that have responded well to other antibiotics. I am on my 5th day of Ceftin, twice a day, and I still feel like rubbish. I no longer have a fever, but the sinus pressure and congestion are still present. It might just be me, but I usually feel relief from other antibiotics after 2 days. I am going to finish my 10-day supply, then call my doctor."

Cefuroxime for Pneumonia "I found the tablet form difficult to swallow. On my second dose, the tablet got stuck in my throat. Scary. But I managed to get it back out and tossed it in the trash. Then I realized I would be one dose short. So I retrieved the tablet, only to discover that by now it had swollen into a spongy mass. So I dropped it into a glass of water. Extremely bitter this way. And with irritated throat tissues. So, next dose, I put almond milk in my mouth, maybe 4 ounces, and tossed in the tablet and quickly swallowed. This time, it went down okay. I think the tablet needs a coating. I was thinking of using butter. I will try this on my next dose."

For Bacterial Infection "Given for bacterial infection, this medication did nothing but cause side effects. Fever, chills, no appetite, weakness. Put this to the infection. Finished the prescribed amount and noticed red blotches on my skin and peeling. I think I'm allergic to this product. Never again. Still feeling effects. It's only been one day since completion."

Cefuroxime for Lyme Disease "Son of 3.5 years old has Lyme; received cefuroxime axetil 250 mg oral suspension for 21 days. It was hard to find a pharmacy that carries this. The pediatrician had to mediate. Our son did a great job taking the medicine, as we used a plastic injection to administer it to him. He did fine with that. However, on the bottle it said to shake well before use. The liquid was too thick for shaking. You had to just wait for the goo to come out of the narrow bottle. When the bottle was 'empty,' there was a thick layer at the bottom and around the sides. Even thicker than the rest. How can we tell if he got the right amount of medicine? Better to put suspension into an open neck jar and stir each time. With Lyme, you're never sure if the medication worked."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was given 250 mg of Ceftin 2x/day for ten days for a painful UTI diagnosed by analysis and later culture. By the third day of treatment, the pain was nearly gone. Following the fifth day on Ceftin, I had symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection that I began treating with Monistat. But no UTI symptoms remained. On the ninth day, the yeast infection continued in spite of treatment, but no UTI symptoms."

For Pneumonia "After having COVID pneumonia for quite a while, my first antibiotic was not doing the trick, so my doctor prescribed me 1000 mg of this per day for 10 days. I went from feeling like I could be hospitalized to feeling significantly better a few hours after starting this antibiotic. It did cause some diarrhea, but well worth it."

For Pneumonia "The 500 mg uncoated tablet is large and very difficult to swallow. Nasty taste! Wish it came in a slippery capsule. Since I just started with this medicine, I don't know whether it will knock out the pneumonia that followed my H1N1 swine flu infection."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Age 27, female. Had UTI for a long time, had no symptoms, though. Cloudy, smelly urine a day before I felt pain. All of a sudden, left side and groin started aching. Could hear and feel stuff on left side. VERY uncomfortable. TeleDoc suspected pyelonephritis. Put me on Augmentin 875-125 mg twice a day for 10 days. Did not work. Went to urgent care 2 days later, put me on cefuroxime axetil 500 mg twice daily for 14 days. Pain subsided for 4 days, fifth day, pain returned. Thought it was because I was drinking a lot of coffee. (It wasn't!) Doc put me on ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day for 7 days. Praying it will work."

For Sinusitis "I will NEVER take this antibiotic again! I took one dose, and four hours later, I was throwing up to the point of dry heaves! I was so extremely nauseous that I was miserable! After I was finished throwing up for three hours, I proceeded to have the worst watery stools ever! (Just keeping it real, people!) I had to go to the ER because I started to feel weak and weird! I passed out as they wheeled me to a room where they thought I had appendicitis! Did blood work and CT! Nope, it was the medication! I was severely dehydrated, and they told me by the time I had left that I looked 100 times better than when I went in! I haven't had any more of the medication, and I've been just fine. I'd suffer through a sinus infection rather than go through that again!"

Cefuroxime "Ceftin has been more effective for me than penicillin when it comes to infections. I have a very sensitive stomach, and unlike most antibiotics, Ceftin does not cause me gastrointestinal upset. Be sure to take a probiotic in between doses of your antibiotic."

For Bladder Infection "When I was 17, I took Ceptin for a bladder infection and had a major allergic reaction: round red circles and floating blurred vision. Yesterday, I went to the emergency for staph on my arm, they gave me cephalexin, the same antibiotic category as Ceptin. They knowingly gave this to me: heart racing. Looks like it’s already helping my arm. I’m disappointed in our medical people."

Cefuroxime for Bacterial Infection "My doctor looked in my ear and nose and saw that they were severely blocked, as well as infected with bacteria. He explained to me that I probably have drainage into the eustachian tube and that it has gotten dirty. So he prescribed me 500 mg Ceftin, as well as Allegra-D and Flonase, all to be taken for 15 days. I take Ceftin twice daily, morning and night, with food. I take Allegra-D and Flonase in the morning before I leave for work. I don't know how the Ceftin works, but I was still plugged up for a good 5 days until it felt like it may have finally kicked in. But is it? It could just be the regular Allegra-D and Flonase? But I guess if this Ceftin is good for many other things, it'll be good for all the other bacteria-type stuff, so I'm happy."

For Bacterial Infection "The urgent care physician diagnosed me with a moderate case of swimmer's ear. He prescribed me the antibiotic cefuroxime, 500 mg, for a period of 7 days. After reading other reviews, I did use one probiotic pill each day along with probiotic yogurt. To make a long story short, I had no problems with my bowels. However, the drug did provide me with a constant moderate headache. Other than that, no other side effects. Unfortunately, the drug did nothing to resolve my ear infection. So, today, a different physician is going to have me try ciprofloxacin. I was hoping to avoid Cipro as it is a lot harder on the body with a bigger spectrum of side effects. Good luck to anyone else who tries cefuroxime."

For Bronchitis "Was prescribed this with prednisolone for bronchitis while on a work trip. Worst experience ever. After three days, continued with a fever, chills, nonproductive cough, and an increasing tightness in my chest. Turns out, the prednisolone was masking an allergic reaction to this drug, though I had never had any prior reaction. Within 10 hours of the final dose of prednisolone, full-blown anaphylaxis set in, along with an obvious trip to the ER, and wound up contracting pneumonia from all the fluid buildup from the reaction. Now I'm left with steroid and rescue inhalers, a different antibiotic, a prescription antihistamine until this stuff is fully out of my system, and a set of epipens to carry around if this ever happens again."
