For Bacterial Infection "This drug is awesome. I’ll admit that it sat in my cabinet for a while because I read the reviews, and my anxiety skyrocketed. I finally decided to take it, and I did not have any side effects whatsoever (except for the bitter taste twice). I would wake at 8 a.m. to take a probiotic, eat at 9 a.m., then take the antibiotic at 10 a.m. I have to take it twice a day, so I did the same routine at 8 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10 p.m. Eat a nice-sized meal, and you’ll be fine! Symptoms disappeared by day 3. I took this pill for 10 days. Good luck. Don’t let the reviews scare you!"

For Lyme Disease "Got bitten by a tick and the doctor decided to put me on antibiotics to prevent Lyme disease - even though there were no clear signs of Lyme disease. The doctor prescribed this drug, cefuroxime, after only three pills of doxycycline. Compared to the doxycycline, this drug barely shows any side effects at all! The first thing I noticed was a weird taste in my mouth a couple of minutes after swallowing my first pill (probably because it's bitter). I've also been having a bit of lightheadedness and a bit less appetite. Oral thrush is barely noticeable. But compared to the doxycycline, I absolutely recommend this antibiotic. It doesn't burn your stomach/esophagus, doesn't cause sun sensitivity, doesn't ruin your sense of taste and smell, etc. like the doxycycline did. I was able to take 500 mg of this drug twice a day for three weeks. I gave up on doxycycline just after the third pill since the side effects were DEVASTATING. Cefuroxime is a great antibiotic!"

Cefuroxime for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "It quickly helped get rid of the infection in my throat, but it is very hard to take. The taste of the pill is horrible and sticks around for a long time in the back of your throat. I used flavored yogurt to help counteract the flavor after I swallowed the pill. It also starts dissolving quickly, so it tended to get stuck in my throat."

For Sinusitis "I have a terrible taste/smell...like something electrical. The doctor said I have a sinus infection. This medicine has had no effect at all. (Positive or negative). I just finished one week of 2-250 mg tablets daily. The doctor said to refill after a week if I don't see any results."

Cefuroxime for Sinusitis "The medicine clears the infection, but extremely harsh on the stomach. I am on day 4 and had to stop taking it because I threw up all over the driveway. It repeats on you all day and leaves a horrible taste. Very strong."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I had the worst case of tonsillitis (pain and swelling had me in tears), cough, green mucus, red eyes, and a terrible flu and upper respiratory tract infection with cough. I had been to the ER several times to no avail because they kept saying it was viral. I went to the ER a third time, and the doctor that time prescribed me this medication that saved me. Penicillin did nothing for me, but this medicine worked. Bad taste and diarrhea were my side effects for 7 days."

For Sinusitis "I was afraid to take this based on reviews. Took it anyway. No issues first 3 days besides some minor stomach cramps. Woke up on day 4 in a stinky night sweat, thought that was very strange (I never usually have a body odor, not even when I sweat). Thought maybe I was sweating some kind of infection out. Bizarre. Noticed on night 4 that I was able to take in a deep breath again for the first time in months! Woke up on day 5 with semi-diarrhea. 5 more days to go. We'll see. I'll update this review when I finish the course. I feared taking this because of the stomach effects as I just had two precancerous polyps removed from my colon 1 month ago, but so far it's been totally tolerable. I haven't taken it with probiotics or yogurt or bananas, just water. I did notice the nasty taste when swallowing the pill on the 4th night for the first time since starting the med, so the bad taste thing might be progressive for some because I didn't notice it until day 4. I've been taking it at 9 a.m. and bedtime."

For Pneumonia "The 500 mg uncoated tablet is large and very difficult to swallow. Nasty taste! Wish it came in a slippery capsule. Since I just started with this medicine, I don't know whether it will knock out the pneumonia that followed my H1N1 swine flu infection."

For Strep Throat "I was prescribed cefuroxime to treat strep and a UTI. Throat felt better within a day, UTI took like 3-4 days for all symptoms to go away. The pill for this is big, though, and it’s hard to swallow, and if you don’t swallow it in the first gulp, it is legit the absolute worst taste in your mouth I’ve ever experienced. It legit made me throw up from the taste."

For Bladder Infection "Excellent tablet, 5-day course for bladder infection. No more lower pain in front and no more smell in urine. No side effects except a bad taste in mouth when taking it. 500 mg x 2 a day. Feel better after one day of taking it. Take yogurt with your breakfast, 3 tablespoons."

Cefuroxime for Sinusitis "The bitter taste made the pills almost impossible to take. Dipping them in honey really worked! Thanks so much for that tip."

Cefuroxime for Sinusitis "I am on my 5th day of a 10-day prescription - taking 500mg in the morning and 500mg before bedtime. The pills are hard to swallow and taste awful, so I dip them in honey before taking. It works great. Ceftin is working great. Being a person who has lived with nasty sinus infections most of my life, I never take the same antibiotic twice in one year. However, Ceftin is at the top of my list. It cures the infection. Make sure you take a ten-day (1000mg daily) course if you have a bad infection. It does make you feel bad - it is hard on your stomach, so you must take it with food. Yogurt or Activia is a must, and also make sure you have a bunch of bananas on hand. Good luck."
