For Middle Ear Infections "Cefuroxime has been a very good antibiotic for me. It has cleared up multiple infections (ear and sinus). I have not had any side effects with it, unless I drank alcohol (feeling better after being on the med for a week), in which case this would give me an upset stomach. Some antibiotics have given me an upset stomach within a day even though I take it with food and take probiotics. I always feel better within a few days with this drug and have no issues. I just hope this review helps someone out there who has had issues with sinus or ear infections because I know how much it sucks and how scary it can be to be unable to find an antibiotic that works well!"

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Prescribed to me for 14 days for a sinus, throat, and lung infection that I was battling for 4 weeks without any relief through natural home remedies. Started to unclog the sinus within 72 hours and began to be able to clear my nose and chest through productive cough and sniffing inward to expel the phlegm. Drink plenty of water and eat/drink plenty of probiotic yogurt to avoid the associated diarrhea and stomach issues that can start. Works great. Found it better than Levaquin and without the severe tendon pain/ripping that was caused in my calves when sleeping."

Cefuroxime for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Very gentle antibiotic for me. With every other kind I've taken, on the first dose, I expect it to feel like it 'hit bottom' in my stomach. This one did not make my stomach upset one bit. A surprise. Had a cold for 1.5 weeks and it came back a few days later (after some sinus pains). Sinuses opened up and a torrent of mucus poured down my throat, causing laryngitis. Was getting worse, so I decided to suck it up and take these. I was VERY apprehensive at first because I think antibiotics should be a last resort. I have a trip abroad coming up, so no time to be sick. Started working the day I took it. It is now day 4 on them and my voice came back. I've been sipping kefir and taking a probiotic between doses. I don't know if this will cause a yeast infection, but I still might take a fluconazole after my prescription is finished if I feel ANY hint of discomfort. So far, so good though. Penicillins usually give me instant vaginal yeast infections! Cleared my cystic acne too!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have taken Ceftin several times for sinus infections, and it has worked well with minimal side effects. I went to urgent care with a UTI, and she put me on Macrobid, which I had never taken before (first UTI), and it seemed to help alleviate symptoms pretty quickly, but I felt worse physically. My PCP switched me to Ceftin 250 mg 2x a day for 10 days. It didn’t seem to work as quickly, but it did work, and I had no side effects, but I know I tolerate this drug very well. All antibiotics cause stomach upset, so take a good quality probiotic, Solaray urgent care probiotic, and Florastor keep my stomach pretty normal while on antibiotics."

For Skin and Structure Infection "Eight weeks later, after taking this drug, I'm still recovering from side effects. It caused chills, fever, swollen lymph glands, bloated stomach, and gas. All symptoms have gone away except bloated stomach and gas. I've never had any stomach issues in my life, and now it's non-stop discomfort. I wouldn't recommend anyone to take this medication."

Cefuroxime for Bacterial Infection "Prescribed this antibiotic, Ceftin, after a severe reaction to Levaquin for a bacterial infection. Only problem is muscle aches and stomach issues. I am on day five, but I may have to stop before the ten days. Feels like gallbladder problems, but I did not have these symptoms before taking this medication."

For Sinusitis "I was afraid to take this based on reviews. Took it anyway. No issues first 3 days besides some minor stomach cramps. Woke up on day 4 in a stinky night sweat, thought that was very strange (I never usually have a body odor, not even when I sweat). Thought maybe I was sweating some kind of infection out. Bizarre. Noticed on night 4 that I was able to take in a deep breath again for the first time in months! Woke up on day 5 with semi-diarrhea. 5 more days to go. We'll see. I'll update this review when I finish the course. I feared taking this because of the stomach effects as I just had two precancerous polyps removed from my colon 1 month ago, but so far it's been totally tolerable. I haven't taken it with probiotics or yogurt or bananas, just water. I did notice the nasty taste when swallowing the pill on the 4th night for the first time since starting the med, so the bad taste thing might be progressive for some because I didn't notice it until day 4. I've been taking it at 9 a.m. and bedtime."

Cefuroxime for Sinusitis "I am on my 5th day of a 10-day prescription - taking 500mg in the morning and 500mg before bedtime. The pills are hard to swallow and taste awful, so I dip them in honey before taking. It works great. Ceftin is working great. Being a person who has lived with nasty sinus infections most of my life, I never take the same antibiotic twice in one year. However, Ceftin is at the top of my list. It cures the infection. Make sure you take a ten-day (1000mg daily) course if you have a bad infection. It does make you feel bad - it is hard on your stomach, so you must take it with food. Yogurt or Activia is a must, and also make sure you have a bunch of bananas on hand. Good luck."
