Benzonatate for Cough "Tessalon Perles are useless for cough, might as well swallow a tic tac, it would have the same effect for a cough. Three times now, I have been given these, and they do absolutely nothing for helping stop my cough. I even tried taking them more frequently, and still no relief. The biggest joke ever for cough relief, and tired of wasting my hard-earned money on such a useless medication. I would rate these zero if it would allow, however, I must choose a rating of one instead. My quality of life is still suffering, I am still coughing so hard I urinate and have bowel movements unexpectedly. I am still crying each time I have a coughing fit, gagging until I puke. My throat is raw, and I have developed a tension migraine from coughing. I have been up for days now with very little sleep and am exhausted from coughing so hard."

Benzonatate for Cough "I can feel the medicine start to work after about a half an hour. I'm going on my 3rd week with a bronchitis cough, and it's the worst. It gets so bad that I can't breathe, and my head hurts. I've never had coughing fits like this in my life, so I didn't know if these pearls would work. They make me a little dizzy and tired, but I can tell they work. The relief is amazing. They last about 8 hrs. I wouldn't say they take the cough away completely, but there's definitely an improvement."

For Cough "This did not work for me. It only makes you very, very tired. I switched to Mucinex, and it worked much better. I feel like the two days I took the drug delayed my recovery. I would ask a lot of questions before paying for this worthless medication."

For Cough "I have just taken 3 doses of this, after weeks of illness and such a severe cough that I was afraid I would damage a rib. This knocked the severity of the cough down within half an hour. Talk about tired, though, I've been a lump all day. Cough syrups weren't effective at all, and I just can't believe how well and quickly this has worked. I've still got an occasional cough, and it does increase after several hours, but the severity is gone. This is a drug I will ask for in the case of future coughs and will be sure to tell friends about."

For Cough "Like the others, acute bronchitis, coughing, and no sleep for days. Prescribe this in 100 mg form, and it does not work! Physicians are so afraid to give compounded cough syrups like back in the day. I'm exhausted, and what a waste of $$."

For Cough "I have a bad cough for two months after a cold, postnasal drip makes me cough continuously. I feel tired and helpless, until I start taking benzonatate 100 mg 3/day. This medication is working well for me, however, in my case, the postnasal drip is due to allergies, therefore, I need to take antihistamines and decongestants in combination with the cough suppressant, otherwise, my symptoms won't improve."

Benzonatate for Cough "I'm in college, and I went to a party after a while of not going out, so I was submerged in so many germs all at once, where I ended up getting sick and having this nasty cough. I've had it for about a week now, and it is so extremely painful. It started with a simple sore throat, but now it's too painful to talk or even breathe and sleep. I wake up every hour or so, coughing up mucus, and I never actually fall into a deep sleep, so I'm exhausted all the time. The other day, I was coughing so hard I threw up my entire dinner. Anyway, a doctor prescribed me this recently, so I took it three times in a day, as told to do so, and it has not done anything for me. I don't know how some people are saying it worked in 15 minutes for them. I wish. I don’t know what to do, I need to get rid of this cough. I can't be in class coughing up a lung, especially when COVID is still present. I don't like this medication, I had high hopes, but based on the other reviews here, it just seems like a scam because it isn't working for most."

For Cough "I started taking the Perles last night after being discharged for having pneumonia. About 20 minutes after taking it, I was extremely tired but unable to control my body movements. I was jerking a lot and had a sense of falling. Once I fell asleep, I was woken the first time for an unbelievably bad dream. So bad that it took me a couple of minutes to make sure of where I was and if I was still alive. Then I went back to sleep and was woken by an incredible coughing fit. I would strongly advise speaking with your doctor before accepting this prescription."

For Cough "I got checked by the urgent clinic today, who were very helpful. Upon being diagnosed with bronchitis, I was prescribed the 100 mg Tessalon. I specifically asked the doctor if this would make me drowsy, because I am a teacher and have to return to work ASAP. Nope, he assured. Well, not only did I spend the rest of the evening hiding from lights and sounds due to an explosive headache (which ached every time I coughed), but my temp went up, and I am now extremely exhausted. What is the deal with this stuff? I haven't stopped coughing and feel ten times worse."
