Benzonatate for Cough "Tessalon Perles are useless for cough, might as well swallow a tic tac, it would have the same effect for a cough. Three times now, I have been given these, and they do absolutely nothing for helping stop my cough. I even tried taking them more frequently, and still no relief. The biggest joke ever for cough relief, and tired of wasting my hard-earned money on such a useless medication. I would rate these zero if it would allow, however, I must choose a rating of one instead. My quality of life is still suffering, I am still coughing so hard I urinate and have bowel movements unexpectedly. I am still crying each time I have a coughing fit, gagging until I puke. My throat is raw, and I have developed a tension migraine from coughing. I have been up for days now with very little sleep and am exhausted from coughing so hard."

Benzonatate for Cough "I have been very sick with the flu for 6 days and have coughed almost non-stop for the last 3. This medication does nothing for me at all. I was prescribed this a few years ago and got the same result. My eyes burn and my throat burns from the constant coughing. I wish I had been prescribed something that actually works."

For Cough "I am currently taking this med for my dry cough that I've had for 3 weeks. I had bronchitis, and after I got better, the coughing started. I was prescribed Benzonatate 200 mg, and it started helping on the 2nd, 3rd dosage. For the first time in 3 weeks, the hacking cough was down to 1-2 coughs per hour vs. 8-9 or more per hour. Today, I noticed my coughing has decreased to 0-1 time per hour, and I’m on the phone handling business during this time also. I am so happy that I’m getting good results from this med. I was a hacking cough wreck the day I asked for help from my doctor for this coughing!!! I’m so happy. I feel blessed! My throat is still irritated from the sinus drainage, but room temp or warm beverages are helpful also."

For Cough "I had a real bad cough. Coughing so bad had a raw throat and pain in stomach. The pills the doctor prescribed for me were 100 mg. I honestly felt better after taking the 3rd pill. So maybe it doesn't work for everyone, but it sure is working for me. So give it a chance and don't expect it to work well if you are a heavy smoker."

For Cough "I was prescribed this yesterday (10-14-2019) for my cough, and you’d think it would work, but no. It does nothing for my cough. I’m coughing so hard my throat is going raw and hurts badly. I was told I can take up to 3 a day, and I’m still coughing. I would not recommend this for a cough."

For Cough "My doctor prescribed me benzonatate 100 mg for a nagging cough. This medication did nothing for me. After 3 days of medication, I continued to cough a lot, I couldn't sleep, and my throat and chest continued to hurt. A waste of money."

Benzonatate for Cough "I'm in college, and I went to a party after a while of not going out, so I was submerged in so many germs all at once, where I ended up getting sick and having this nasty cough. I've had it for about a week now, and it is so extremely painful. It started with a simple sore throat, but now it's too painful to talk or even breathe and sleep. I wake up every hour or so, coughing up mucus, and I never actually fall into a deep sleep, so I'm exhausted all the time. The other day, I was coughing so hard I threw up my entire dinner. Anyway, a doctor prescribed me this recently, so I took it three times in a day, as told to do so, and it has not done anything for me. I don't know how some people are saying it worked in 15 minutes for them. I wish. I don’t know what to do, I need to get rid of this cough. I can't be in class coughing up a lung, especially when COVID is still present. I don't like this medication, I had high hopes, but based on the other reviews here, it just seems like a scam because it isn't working for most."

For Cough "Did absolutely nothing. Tested positive for RSV and coughing fits for 24 hours on this medication that destroyed my throat and left my entire body sore and in more pain. No effect on cough suppression whatsoever."

For Cough "I was prescribed benzonatate for cough and upper respiratory infection. Now I have no taste or smell sensations. Yes, I'm 71, but my senses were very good before this. The last time I swallowed the capsule, I gagged to the point my throat was sore. I want to find out what can be done to get my senses back. My appetite has been good due to not being able to taste anything."

For Cough "Benzonatate was a waste of $15. Made me cough more, plus giving me a weird scratchy feeling in my throat. I only took one 100 mg, and I’m done. Honey works better than benzonatate."
