Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I used to take a high dosage time-release tablet of another drug. If I took it when I woke up, say 8 o'clock, I would inevitably go through an anxious and depressing period every day around 5 p.m. My psychiatrist prescribed me Adderall XR and Adderall to see if I wouldn't go through this down period. I am so much happier now. Adderall permits me to be focused, less impulsive, and organized while lessening the side effects, which I got with the other drug. I have an appetite, but am not an impulsive eater."

For Narcolepsy "I've been taking this med for awhile now. The pharmacy changed it to the very lowest cheap generic they bought and made a HUGE PROFIT ON THE CHEAP STUFF. My goodness, I didn't look at the bottle. I kept falling asleep while driving my kids to school, etc. I couldn't stay awake. 30 mg of the right med was helping me stay focused and alert for sure awake. CVS, Wal-Mart, etc. If you get your meds, please check and see if you got the ones your doctor prescribed. It didn't dawn on me for about a month. I thought I was overworking, but I wasn't. I was getting depressed and moody. I looked at the bottle and brought it back to the drug store and never went back. Take care, all you good people that have disorders. We can't help what we're dealing with. Peace and LOVE. Sharon."

For ADHD "I’ve taken Adderall for years. I used to be on Lannett brand, and Walgreens recently switched to TEVA. I had my script switched from CVS to Walgreens because it was closer to me. I have been on it for 3 months, and the side effects are terrible. I clench my teeth so bad my teeth have broken, I am severely depressed, I can’t find happiness in literally anything. I don’t feel motivated at all. If anything, I feel less motivated to get out of bed. My skin is dry, my eyes are sinking in, and I get terrible migraines. My anxiety is so bad I’m antisocial, and I thought I had a stroke because of side effects. I’m 25. Just don’t take it."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "It helps keep me calm and focused at work. I do suffer insomnia if I don't take my daily dose consistently. I tried to stop taking it, and my metabolism took a severe nosedive even though I never had weight problems before. I did lose about ten pounds when I started taking it, but it leveled off, and I was able to maintain a healthy weight. I would have liked to try a more natural approach to managing my ADD, but the weight gain has added depression, and therefore I'm back on it."

For ADHD "When I was first prescribed this medicine over ten years ago, it was beyond fantastic. The focus and ability to accomplish tasks was very positive. There have been many changes in the medication. Mainly, the therapeutic effect. This medication has become a rancid excuse for treatment. It feels brutal and raw. The generics are a joke, and the lab that bought the patent does not use the patented formula. Eon Labs' version had the closest therapeutic effect to the Shire brand original, but not anymore. I want to complain publicly about the overall quality control on this medication. It now burns your digestive tract and causes migraine headaches, depression, weight gain, and all-around misery. There's maybe a minuscule amount of therapeutic drug in the formulations now. It 'feels' like some horrible, nasty, raw rat poison combined with a very slight amount of actual amphetamine. I've almost weaned myself off. They need to bring back the patented med."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine for ADHD "I am 23 now, and I was diagnosed at the age of 8 with ADHD. I was put on Ritalin until I was 17. Ritalin made me stay up all night, it made me depressed. It was a terrible experience. Adderall really helped me, it keeps me focused and on task, and just overall, it has changed my life."

For ADHD "Lannett 30 mg capsules (ELi-515) have made me severely depressed and anxious. Impaired thinking, blurry vision, can't sleep or focus or get energy are just a few side effects. I see a lot of you are in a similar boat. If you can relate, please fill out an FDA online consumer report form."

For Fatigue "Had it prescribed for ADHD, but this really helps me stay alert with my fatigue. I have depression and feel so tired all the time. I’m always yawning and can’t even enjoy my time with friends, and I always want to go home after like 5 minutes. I feel dead inside, and my head feels cloudy and lightheaded, but when I take Adderall, I feel alive and like I can actually do things. I do not take it every day, this is NOT AN ANTIDEPRESSANT—though it can feel like it. This can make depression WORSE because it is a fast-acting drug, it does not build up in your system like a normal antidepressant. Once it wears off, it can make you reliant on it because it shortly increases dopamine and serotonin levels = motivation and feeling good, and then your body adjusts and relies on getting those hormones that way. I am also taking Fluvoxamine for my depression, anxiety, OCD to balance it out. My doctor increased my dose for Fluvoxamine to 200 mg to battle the increased depression from the Adderall."

For ADHD "I was put on amphetamine and dextroamphetamine 30 mg. I took it for a little over a year. I wish I never had. DON'T TAKE IT. You don't need it. The answer to your problem is in the food you are eating, not the dead/poisonous pill that is hurting you more. This drug made me lose a considerable amount of weight (too much), and I was puking green bile because my gallbladder and liver couldn't function properly. Since I got off the drug, I gained weight back that has taken a year and a half to start to lose. I am now recovering from heart palpitations and breathing problems that I never had before the drug. It changed my behavior and made me severely depressed and anxious. Thank goodness my body can heal... so can yours. I've been off it for 2 years, and my body is just starting to recover from the damage that it caused. Please know that there is a better answer. You don't have to take this drug. And you don't have to suffer either."

Amphetamine / dextroamphetamine "My son had been on every ADHD med made by mankind since he was 5. He is 17 now, and because I go read reviews after the doctor changes his meds, I thought it might help someone who has gone through all of them also. Adderall was the worst. My son was happy, enteric, easy-going, and even on Daytrana. Ritalin, Focalin, etc., he never lost himself. On Adderall, he was drowning mentally. Depression set in, moodiness, anger, punching walls, so mad he would black out, etc. Be very careful!!!!! Do not choose this one if you need help!"
