"After a TIA, I found I had high blood pressure 170/110. In the hospital, they gave me something that caused HUGE adverse reactions. I was then given a brand name sample by my PCP (expensive) that worked, but due to price, he switched me to the generic equivalent of 2 meds. We adjusted the dosage of each to find the best for me. Settled on Amlodipine 10 mg and Quinapril 40 mg. Have been taking these for 5+ years with no side effects that I can say are caused by the drugs. (I experience some of the things reported, but know some are caused by other issues I have). Nothing is serious. We twice tried to reduce the Quinapril to 20 mg, but the systolic slowly went up over 2-3 weeks, and when it hit 160, I went back to 40 mg. Since I started taking these, my BP has been about 134/74 regularly. I am now 68 years old, 175-180 pounds, exercise, and watch my diet. Works great for me."

"I am a 68-year-old African American female in good shape (5’4”/153 lbs), and I walk 2 miles 5x a week. Few people guess my age. I have been pretty healthy all of my life. I never smoked and rarely drink a glass of wine (celebrations). During a very stressful part of my life (5 years ago), while slightly jogging, I began to feel weird stabbing chest pain and a strange sensation in my mouth. I notified my doctor about it, and she prescribed amlodipine. I used to get migraines, but now, I don’t anymore. The stabbing pain stopped, too. After two years and loss of 20 pounds, I asked to have my amlodipine lowered from 5 mg to 2.5 mg. I still feel good. Hopefully, I will lose more weight and reduce amlodipine even more. I needed it and it has allowed me to live a fuller, happier, and healthier life; so, I continue to use it. It’s a tiny pill that’s easy to swallow every morning. I recommend it to overall healthy people with stressful lives."

"My doctor prescribed this medication for chest pain, which we have concluded is most likely from coronary spasm. I do not have CAD, but coronary spasm and angina. I also take a beta blocker for abnormal heart rhythm and blood thinners. I was going to the hospital almost weekly with chest pain. This medication has changed my life. I have been taking Amlodipine for about 8 weeks now, and I’ve only had one episode of chest pain. That is a 97% improvement. I haven’t noticed any side effects other than a slight increase in heart rate and possibly fatigue and tiredness. I started at 2.5 mg and just increased to 5 mg. I also have liver disease. Also, it is cheap and readily available. Not many interactions."

"After the angiogram in 2001, the cardiologist prescribed Norvasc (amlodipine), which caused feet to swell. Changed to Nifedipine ER, which has worked well to control hypertension and angina until 2021."

"Was getting chest pains and general discomfort when bike riding, at its worst, I had to stop 6 times on a 1-hour ride just to feel better. Since taking amlodipine, I can ride in comfort for the hour."

"I have Variant Angina and Microvascular Angina and was in the ER every 8 to 10 weeks due to severe chest pain. And then I was given Amlodipine and my life changed. This drug was a game changer. I cannot imagine being without it. The only side effects I get are occasional very low BP (so I drink something very salty) and there are nights that my ankles swell but they are fine during the day. These side effects are a welcomed trade for what this drug has done for my Angina. Thank you Amlodipine for the change you made in my life : )"
