Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I was prescribed Tylenol #3 following a wisdom tooth extraction on my right side. Unfortunately for me, Tylenol #3 did nothing for the pain unless I took 2 pills, even then, the discomfort never went away. Pain was excruciating, and the buzz/pain relief only lasted a couple of hours. Advil and an ice pack did a better job than this drug. If your doctor prescribes this to you following a surgical procedure/extraction, please try to request something better. I had my left side wisdom teeth extracted and was prescribed oxycodone by my previous surgeon. Pain was incredibly tolerable, and the recovery was a breeze! It's unfortunate that these new doctors are so scared to prescribe what these pills were designed for - real pain - not everyone is trying to catch a buzz."

For Cough "This comment is for NightShadow. Do you take Lisinopril by any chance, for blood pressure? I had that same disgusting constant cough for 2 years. I was in the Salvation Army doing my cough, and one of the employees commented that she used to have the same cough. She linked it to the Lisinopril. And sure enough!!!! That was the problem."

For Pain "I have been taking this medicine now for over 13 years. I used to take as much as 9 #4 a day. I now take only 4 pills a day. I get very bad pains in my feet because of being a diabetic, I have stopped getting pain by not waiting until the pain starts. It helps me sleep, and most of the time it prevents the pain from starting."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I was prescribed Tylenol with codeine for when my gallstones act up. Well, it does nothing for me. This last episode of pain woke me up out of my sleep, took my Tylenol with codeine, and 30 minutes later, no relief. To top it off, because I had no relief from the pain, I ended up puking...ugh! I'm better off with the ibuprofen 600 mg I have from the birth of my son."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "It dulled the edge of my tooth pain, but it does not take it away. I can’t lay down with the type of tooth pain I have, and it’s almost unbearable most of the day unless I’m carrying cold water in my mouth. This medication is a joke and makes me feel drunk and confused. On top of the fact, it plugs you up, it’s also caused me withdrawal when it wears off."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I have chronic pain due to endometriosis, and trust me, not pleasant at all, but with this medication, it helps. It may not be as strong as I would like it to be, but I'm okay, it does something. I just don't want to rely on pain meds because of my daughter. However, in times of great overwhelming pain, I take one of these and an Ambien, and I'm out cold. Upside is I met my out-of-pocket and deductible, so it's free until the end of the year."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I have been taking this medicine since 2017, and in 4-hour intervals, it really does help, and like people have said on here, we need our pain medicine. I was born with a prominent vertebra around T11 that is visibly posteriorly pushed outward. The pain gets bad in the morning and at the end of the day, my saving grace is the Tylenol 3. 100 tabs per month, the pharmacy considers it a 16-day supply, but I stretch the 100 tabs to a 30-day supply by taking them every 5 hours while I’m awake… totaling 3-4 per day."

For Pain "My 8-year-old son was given this after his molar extraction. We hesitated to give it to him, but that was expected. Afterwards, he didn't complain of pain, didn't think it would be that effective. He did, however, complain about feeling sleepy and drowsy and wanting to get up and play."

For Pain "I have to take this following surgery to remove hardware from my ankle. I thought that it would work, and it simply did not. I don't even notice any difference after taking it, except maybe that I would like to throw up. I took a full dose, and it never kicked in at all. I should be able to walk, but due to the pain, I can't even move. I really need something stronger, and this is coming from someone who has a really high pain tolerance."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I take Tylenol 3 for tension migraines. For about 15 years, I took two pills, and they eliminated the pain within 30 minutes. Worked every time for 15 years, and only recently has effectiveness decreased. A couple of months ago, I had to increase my dosage to 3 pills to achieve the same result. I have talked to a lot of people, and they have said the same thing. I think they have changed the drugs in the pills now."

For Pain "Dulled the toothache after my root canal infection got fixed. Did not take it completely away. I couldn't eat either. Made me too sleepy to drive and, possibly, grouchy (that could have been from the procedure too). Easy to use."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I was prescribed T3's after having carpal tunnel surgery. I was told to take 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours... I ended up taking 3 and still have a lot of pain. I’m going to end up asking my doctor for something stronger."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I take Tylenol 3 for tension migraines. For about 5 years, I took two pills, and they eliminated the pain within 45-60 minutes. Worked every time for 5 years, and only recently has effectiveness decreased. A couple of months ago, I had to increase my dosage to 2.5 pills to achieve the same result. Tylenol 3 only works for my migraines. I recently had dental work done and had to take something stronger for the pain."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "It doesn't work for the pain. It's hard to get out of bed and walk back and forth to work. Doctors need to get with the program. They see what's going on and know the pain is severe, so do something about the pain so people can be active and able to work."

For Pain "I had pain on both sides of my mouth, probably 6 or 7. I went to the dentist, had my teeth cleaned, and was prescribed ibuprofen and penicillin until my appointment to have four teeth extracted. I went back after a month, and the pain was unbearable. The appointment was scheduled 2 months after my original visit. The second time with unbearable pain, I was prescribed Tylenol 3. It did absolutely nothing for my pain."

For Pain "Tylenol 3 was given to me to try for back pain. I might as well have been given candy pills, it did not work at all for pain. If you take anything with codeine, make sure you eat first. All it did for me was make me sleepy and sick. I now take Tramadol for pain, it works great."

For Pain "Dr. prescribed generic brand Tylenol #4 for arthritis, knee, back pain. I had been in pain at a level of 8-10. I was sent for pain management, no help. Dr. prescribed the acetaminophen with codeine 3 times a day and so for the last 5 years, pain at a level of 3-4. For me, it works. It has a very low addiction rate. 'Codeine is a weak opioid, about 10% is metabolized to morphine. Still, potential for abuse-addiction.' That depends on the individual. Long-term use can cause issues, patients should be tested and followed by Dr. I moved from Birmingham to Mobile, Ala. The Mobile Dr. was terrified, said he would not risk losing his license. This is a Schedule III drug. Does not cause the majority of users to become addicted to it. This Dr. was unwilling to help or discuss it, said to take OTC pain remedy. Checked with med. ins. co., pharmacy, it's approved, can be prescribed by Dr. with refills."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "Took literally 45 minutes to kick in when I have severe, debilitating rheumatoid arthritis and I had a bad fall. Went to ER, gave me this while I went in for x-ray, still no relief. Finally, 45 minutes, I can feel my pain slightly go away."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "Have been taking T3 or T4 for post-surgery pain. Have discovered that as long as I take either one, my pain persists, but once I stop, my pain goes away! Also found that NSAIDs increase the pain (had basal joint replacements in both thumbs). But I do have to say that both Ts are effective for my hip bursitis; just not worth the thumb pain when I take it. Hoping the MD can give me something for my hip that won't impact my thumbs..."

For Pain "I need to get a wisdom tooth removed and have been taking up to 3,200 mg of ibuprofen daily for a month and a half. I explained to my dentist my concerns about taking so much ibuprofen, so he prescribed me Tylenol 3. I've never taken any sort of high-end painkillers, so I don't have any tolerance. I continued taking ibuprofen despite the fact my dentist prescribed the T3s until today when the ibuprofen wouldn't even touch the pain. It kicked in pretty quickly, but all it did was erase the pain for twenty minutes and made me feel high, which I hated. Had to pop another ibuprofen once the pain instantly came back. Thought it would work better than this."

For Pain "I took T3 after having surgery. It definitely took the pain away. It also caused confusion. I couldn't remember if I took the pills that day or not. I'd have to recount the pills to make sure I didn't mess up my dose. I could not understand what people were saying to me. I had to read their lips. I couldn't feel pain. I laughed hysterically when I tore out my stitches, had to be carried back to bed because I couldn't move. I felt paranoid. Like something bad was going to happen. It is not something I enjoy taking. I didn't even finish the prescription. It was too intense for me."

For Pain "I've been taking this medicine for over 2 years. CVS Pharmacy switched manufacturers. I got this pill 110 IP, had to take it for 30 days, so I finally told my doctor I couldn't do it anymore. I almost did not eat anything the whole month. This pill was a stimulant, had five other ingredients that I had never taken before. Next time they tried to fill it, I rejected it, and I did not get my money back. Stay away from this medicine."
