Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "Got my wisdom tooth removed. I had a surgical procedure because my tooth was impacted. I had to take 3 pills within 6 hours. It barely worked, the side of my face is still throbbing and in pain. I couldn't take more because of the acetaminophen. Going back to the dentist tomorrow to get something stronger instead."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "Had a bout of awful strep throat, pain in the left side of my throat as well as the left ear, excruciating pain for me to swallow! Doc first prescribed Naproxen, didn't do anything for me except make me want to vomit and stay nauseous after I'd even tried to eat something. Prescribed me some Tylenol 3 with codeine, and within 30 minutes of having a moderately somewhat full tummy, I feel the great effects of it already, less pain, but will be using until my strep has cleared and pain has gone, so we will see if the effect still lasts after a few days!"

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I developed severe lower back nerve pain, which became almost intolerable and severely limited my range of motion; I could barely walk. I was prescribed Tylenol 3, 2 tablets every 4 hours. The first day, it worked great, but the next day, I was vomiting and became severely constipated. The doctor switched me to Celebrex, which did little for the pain. Trying the Tylenol with a stool softener, drinking more water, hoping I don't get nauseated."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I have really bad pain/fibromyalgia/osteoarthritis possibly. My pain doctor prescribed me this pill, and it has been a godsend. The only side effect I get is nausea. I take a Zofran if it’s bad, it really helps my pain. It helps me function in life again."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I have chronic neurological pain as well as lower back/hip pain. As I have aged (I'm 52), dealing with chronic pain has evolved for me. In my 30s and 40s, my primary care doctor at the time prescribed T3 as well as hydrocodone and morphine extended release. Have to say, my pain was obliterated, I didn't feel pain, heck, I didn't feel anything. I was a mess and had such a high tolerance that my daily life consisted of barely getting up off the couch. Fast forward to the present. I now live in a different state and have a great new primary care physician. I have been taking Lyrica for neurological pain in my feet, which didn't work well for me. So she prescribed Gabapentin 800 mg twice a day and Tylenol 3 twice a day as needed."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "Tylenol with Codeine #3 does nothing for me. Plain aspirin is more effective. I have been prescribed Codeine several times, many times even, over my lifetime, and each time. It seems as if I took nothing at all. I don't know why, but I just shake my head and even laugh when they prescribe it. After trying it yet again, thinking it was just a mistake or they made it better, again, it does absolutely nothing to relieve pain. I take several of them, and usually about halfway through the prescription given to me by the doctor, I switch to plain aspirin to get some relief from pain."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "Just took 1 300-30 mg as a replacement for the Davorcet, which was withdrawn recently. I used that sparingly and ran out a month ago. I have rheumatoid arthritis, 'fibro', and osteoarthritis among other health problems, so I am in some sort of constant pain daily. My doctor is very conservative about giving me prescription pain medicine, so I am to cut in half and take no more than a grand total of 1 pill a day. Not sure he understands my pain, but I have to follow his orders. I have to save this for my most severe days and when I absolutely have to get things done. Use Excedrin migraine and Advil on other days."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "Be careful not to mix with alcohol. I heard a crash in the bathroom, I went in and found my friend lying on the floor. I asked, should I call 911? When my friend came to, he said no, do not call 911. I'm glad I was there."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I got my four wisdom teeth out, and the pain was unbearable! I don't handle pain very well, but one T3 and two Advil made me not feel pain or anything! And the T3s made me very sleepy, so I could rest!"

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I was quite sore from excessive coughing from an up-and-down bout with the flu. Took one Tylenol 3 tab as prescribed and was actually able to sit up and move around in bed with no pain. However, it did make me slightly dizzy with mild stomach upset. I would not take it when I have to be up and about. Took it at night anyway so I could rest. I can live with the side effects since it's nighttime and I'm in bed anyway."

For Pain "Slammed by groin in a wreck on ten-speed bike. Testicles are swollen to the size of two tennis balls. Tylenol 3 hasn't helped at all with easing the throbbing pain in my nads. I may need a Tylenol super 300 for trauma of daballs. Thanks for listening, I am gonna get back into the tub and cry some more."

For Cough "Had a chronic cough for 4 months. Docs kept using antibiotics and steroids. Slowed it down, but when the med was complete, it would start up even worse. Doc gave me Tylenol #3 2x a day, and after 2 weeks it was gone. So glad. Thank you."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "Was prescribed this for dealing with pain after four of my wisdom teeth got extracted. All I can say is that the pain relief lasts very momentarily, and I still feel absolutely awful after. Tried doubling up, and that didn't help much either. Considering asking my doctor to put me on stronger medication because this stuff hasn't worked wonders at all. I'm not excited to see how the next few days will pan out if this medication is barely able to hold my pain back."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I had gotten this medication after herniating a disc in my lower back. I only got minimal pain relief after taking 1 pill and decided to take 2 at night as the prescription states '1 to 2 pills may be taken.' I ended up with moderate to severe upper stomach pain and slight chest discomfort. I also noticed that as I would fall asleep, I would wake up suddenly with a feeling of having to catch my breath. This lasted for hours. It did, however, only slightly relieve my pain, which is why I rated it 2 stars. I will not be taking this again."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I took this after my breast reduction surgery for lingering pain. I can say that aside from serious constipation, this works great. I'd describe its effect as 'doesn't really lower the pain level, but makes you not care that you're in pain.' I definitely didn't want to take too much of it -- the constipation sucks, and feeling that 'two drinks in' dizziness isn't exactly fun times -- but for what it was, it did the job."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "Was prescribed Tylenol #3 after double tooth extractions. The pain was handled well. Dosage on the bottle was for every 6 hours, but was told again by the dentist that I could take it at 5-hour intervals if needed. Was only prescribed 14 pills for short-term use only. Served its purpose well. After 2 days, all that was left was soreness from the procedure, and that was handled with over-the-counter Aleve."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I have needed to get my four wisdom teeth pulled out for 2 years now. And just on this medication until surgery. My mandible, which is my lower jaw, and gums are very swollen and infected, not so much pain in my upper areas in my mouth. My dentist prescribed me Tylenol #3 with codeine and antibiotics. Tylenol #3 is a joke, it does not help with my pain at all, it just makes me very drowsy. When I do rest, the pain is still severe."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "Have infection in back molar tooth. Was prescribed Tylenol #3. Contrary to most experiences, the meds did wonders!!! Don't know if I could have lasted in that pain. I've done drugs before for recreation, so I know I have a tolerance, but meds still worked."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "After gallbladder surgery, was prescribed this for at-home pain management (I can't take Vicodin), and while it definitely kicks in after about 30 minutes, it wears off way too fast. Halfway through my wait till the next dose, timeframe pain is in full swing again. Ugh."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Osteoarthritis "I'm 78 and have osteoporosis. I've had fractured legs, lower back, my spine is messed up from a rear-end accident. I've been taking this medication off and on for several years. It's not used every day. Yes, it does cause constipation and I use OTC stool softeners to help. I have no strength and working with rehab to help get my strength back. Some days my pain is worse than others. I also have Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen 7.5-325 when my pain is worse. However, I do not mix pain medication in the same 24-hour period. I'm going to ask my doctor about this because I have noticed a memory issue. I don't have Alzheimer's, but brain fog is a good description. I'll be talking to my sister and go to say something and can't think of the word or name I want. It usually comes, but I feel I struggle for it. As far as alcohol, it has been out of my life for over 10 years. I can give a rating for both, they both help deal with the pain. However, I just thought about it, and that's how I came upon this to leave a remark."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I was prescribed this medication after returning to work 3 weeks after a moderate ankle sprain. I am alternating 800 mg of Motrin and 1000 mg of Tylenol every 6 hours around the clock, so basically I am taking something every 3 hours and icing/elevating my ankle when pain meds are due. It has been 2 months since my injury and I am still in severe pain, I have had to modify my work schedule, and I basically sit around doing as little as possible to rest. I am on my feet at work for 12 hours at a time, in a walking boot, which is also causing me lower back and hip pain. After I come home from work, I take 2 Tylenol #3, and it does nothing. I do not take pain medicine often, but this is providing 0 pain relief and makes me very nauseated."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage last week, but I had no external symptoms. I waited a week and still no bleeding. So my OB/GYN prescribed for me misoprostol (Cytotec), which induces contractions and therefore bleeding, etc. I was given Tylenol 3 to take to reduce the pain. I had excruciating pain from the contractions to the point that sometimes I could hardly move or talk. I took 400 Advil (Ibuprofen) and felt a little better. I know the Tylenol 3 had no effect on me because it didn't even make me sleepy, not even a bit. n.b. I don't drink, don't smoke, don't use drugs and therefore I don't believe I have tolerance to any narcotics. Regular Tylenol never works for my kind of pains anyway."

For Pain "Tylenol #3 or Tylenol with codeine is one of the most effective painkillers for me, however, just the original brand is effective, and generics, especially the one with the letter M on it, just don't work at all. If your doctor prescribes you this painkiller, just make sure it is either the brand name or, if it is generic, you must not get the one with the letter M on it. I have been using the brand name for more than 10 years, and any time that my insurance tried to replace it with its generic, if it was with the letter M on it, I had to prove to them that it is a fake medication. Any other type of generic, although it is not as good as the brand, is still okay as long as it does not have the letter M on it."

Acetaminophen / codeine for Pain "My two front teeth were progressively getting worse in pain from two nights ago when I had hit my teeth really hard. 7/10 pain scale last night/this morning - to the point where no toothache remedies were working anymore, including OTC pain medicine (which never worked from the start). Was prescribed Tylenol 3 this morning from the dentist as we wait to do a root canal on one tooth, the other tooth may just be bruised as it shows no sign of a root canal needed. It has been 2 hours, and the medicine has extremely barely done anything. Waiting on doc to approve better medication."
