For Osteoporosis "I took Tymlos for almost 3 months. Racing heart, palpitations, being winded, and fatigue were my most severe symptoms. I am told these symptoms should have subsided in 7 or 8 hours after an injection, but that did not happen in my case. These symptoms, especially the palpitations, persisted off and on 24/7 and are still with me even though I've been off the medication for 2 weeks. So now I have to have a cardiac workup to make sure there is no damage to my heart, and I guess try to pinpoint what is happening. I did not have heart problems/issues before I started this medication. Right now, my heart is my main concern before I start to address my osteoporosis. I feel like I traded one problem for two."

For Osteoporosis "Just started second Tymlos pen for osteoporosis. Side effects after injection (which start 15 min or so after) lasted 3.5-4.0 hours initially, down to 15-20 minutes now. Initial side effects: 'Drugged-like feeling' (lightheaded, dizzy, brain fog, out of it), fatigue, heart pounding. Other side effects that linger daily: initial severe bone pain, which has slowly decreased, vertigo, which is still present, fatigue, weight gain, brain fog. Due to my career and safety role, I have been out of work on STD, due to the above side effects. As they are lessening, they are still present, which may cause me to end use of this drug."

For Osteoporosis "I've been taking Tymlos for about 6 weeks. The pain in my legs and hands is problematic, but I'd rather not ever again experience multiple compression fractures. My DEXA does not indicate osteoporosis, just osteopenia. I do have advanced degenerative disc disease and several collapsed vertebrae. My neurosurgeon and rheumatologist want me to strengthen my vertebrae before doing any surgeries. I also have fibromyalgia and chronic pancreatitis. Because of endometriosis, I had a complete hysterectomy at 32 years old. I did HRT only for the first two years. I am now 68 years old and plan to push through the challenging side effects of Tymlos. I may need to modify frequency or dosage, but will persevere."

For Osteoporosis "I have been on Tymlos for two months. I immediately had a drop in my blood pressure. I then had pressure behind my eyes and was off Tymlos for two weeks. I restarted but found that my blood pressure still dropped, and I had a racing heart rate as well as insomnia. After being off of it again for two days, I have felt lightheaded, and my pulse slowed to what was not normal for me, a drop of 10 to 15 beats per minute. I have come to the conclusion that the risks and side effects are not worth it. As I have dental issues, I cannot take other medications. Forteo is the only other alternative, and it is the same class of medication and has similar or maybe more side effects."

For Osteoporosis "I have had osteoporosis for many years due to having a complete hysterectomy at age 29. I was on pills, it had to be taken off because of it loosening my teeth. I lost many teeth. I have been on this medication since approximately November of 2019. I have read all of your side effects, it is so hard for me to give you my opinion since I have other conditions like bulging disc, scoliosis, arthritis. Can tell you that I have had a lot of itching in the palms of my hands and the bottom of my feet. I have had cramping in my toes and arch of my foot. It's hard to say about my back since I have back problems, and I have had insomnia for many years now, so I cannot say that this medication has caused those two problems. I have been getting headaches more recently, but again, I have problems with discs in my neck as well, all from a motorcycle accident. I am willing to try this medication to see if there is any improvement."

For Osteoporosis "I am 81 and have broken my wrist twice in the last eight years. Nothing else. I have been on Fosamax and Alendronate for years on and off. The last fracture occurred 5 years ago. Since my Dexa scan has gotten to be very poor: -4, I started Tymlos with hopes and in good faith. However, I found the side effects intolerable: ongoing dizziness that made me very afraid of falling; headaches lasting hours, brain fog, pain in my spine, generally feeling terrible. I stopped after 15 administrations of the drug and felt better quickly. New approach in addition to relevant nutrition: I am doing weight lifting plus physical therapy. Result: No brain fog, more energy, improved balance. I am surprised and relieved that my doctor, an endocrinologist, supports this approach."

For Osteoporosis "I was on Tymlos for 2 years. It was a game changer for me, where my T score improved significantly. While on it, after the injection, I did have lower back pain for a few minutes. My doctor recommended I do the injection at night before bed to alleviate some of that. That helped, and the pain is short-lived. I would continue to take this if I could, but I did my 2 years already. Now I am on Reclast infusion every year, which has also been great."

For Osteoporosis "I had a hysterectomy at age 27, unable to tolerate hormones later, was unable to tolerate osteoporosis medications, tried several. Have been on Tymlos 7 months, only side effect is the fatigue, but I can get through that. Hoping that this helps, as the cost is going to keep me from staying on it. I am 69, my hip score was -3.5."

For Osteoporosis "I was on Tymlos for 8 days. My side effects got worse every day until it got to the point where I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Will never take another injection. The side effects are scary and dangerous. I'm a 67-year-old woman with severe osteoporosis, but taking this medication to improve my bone density is not worth the risk. Stay away from it."

For Osteoporosis "Not good. Not good at all. I finally overcame the terror of self-injection, and now I'm dealing with awful side effects: within 20 min, my heart starts to race, and that goes on for hours. I have increased pain in my spine and joints. I feel like I have the flu for about 4-5 hours a day, every day, within an hour of taking Tymlos. Jittery, achy, and generally miserable. Now I'm reading that as soon as I stop taking this drug, my bones are back to screwed anyway, so I'm considering dropping this drug for good."

For Osteoporosis "I’m two weeks into my second pen. The side effects have been surprisingly mild. Noticed an increased heart rate for a bit, and lately, foot and leg cramps becoming a thing. Completely manageable and worth it if it helps with a severe osteoporosis diagnosis. Injections are going well. My rheumatologist told me I can also inject it into my thigh."

For Osteoporosis "Am on my 3rd pen; since the beginning, side effects have been palpitations and fatigue, so I moved (an hour at a time) injections from morning to about 2 hours before bed. I tried bedtime, but it disturbed my sleep, so I made the adjustment. Palpitations were mild, might last 15 minutes. Two nights ago, I went through my regular routine, and within 10 minutes, my heart was literally beating out of my chest. Very fast, very hard. It was very alarming and kept up for 1 1/2 hours, and then another 1/2 hour before settling back into rhythm. I contacted my doctor the next day and detailed past side effects and this episode. The response was that these were not side effects of Tymlos and maybe I needed to see a cardiologist or I had 'anxiety,' and he didn't think I should discontinue the injections. I thought this was very dismissive and careless. I have other health issues that require doctor visits on a regular basis. Pretty sure if I had heart problems, someone would have addressed this."

For Osteoporosis "I have been injecting Tymlos in the evening and having severe back pain in the morning. The body pain has been increasing. Without moving, I can feel my legs and feet hurt. My hips are 3.7, and I was hoping this was the drug that would help me. The results from my recent lab work showed an increase in ALP. My endocrinologist switched me to Tymlos because it doesn’t require refrigeration. My latest ALP increased from 128 to 202 after 6 weeks of treatment. From what I’ve read, it looks like it’s time to give it up."

For Osteoporosis "I've only been on Tymlos for about a month, and the headaches and full spine have gradually increased in pain. I've felt as though I've gotten worse since I started. My bones hurt worse and get even worse when trying to sleep, and when my bladder has the least urge to urinate, it seems to increase the pain. Still not feeling better, or well for that matter. It seems the side effects explained are lasting throughout the day and night. Should I just stop using it? As it has, in hand, made it more difficult to eat, as the pain and dizziness are over the top. Nauseous all the time."

For Osteoporosis "I'm on my fifth injection. My numbers were 4.7 in the left hip. My calcium and vitamin D are excellent, so I can't improve with nutrition. I didn't get any instructions; the VA sent me the pen and, later, the needles. When I asked for instruction, they told me to look at the YouTube videos, which I did. Bunches of them, but they don't tell you where to inject or what to look for after. No one mentions all the stuff you all are telling me. So, I'm sorry, but glad to hear the back pain, palpitations, insomnia, brain fog, general malaise, severe headache, and pains in my legs and ankles are fairly typical. I'm not surprised at the health care professionals dismissing our concerns. After all, years of living with the pain of a condition and knowing our own bodies are not equivalent to that two-week course the health provider took. I experience burning and itching at the injection site that seems to grow bigger with each injection. It was the first time the needle actually hurt... a lot."

For Osteoporosis "After 6 weeks, the following side effects have not improved with my pre-bed shots: heartburn and gas on and off all day. Fatigue. Spend 11-13 hours in bed. Trying to sleep or fatigue so strong, getting up is a challenge. Brain fog, which I assume is from constant fatigue. L1 fracture is more painful now than the first 3 months of healing. Not sure I can stay on this as depression is becoming the newest side effect. More power to those who succeed."

For Osteoporosis "I am two weeks into my Tymlos injections. Side effects have included palpitations, increased heart rate, nausea, and fatigue. The fatigue has been the hardest part so far. But I am in my early 30s and have sustained 20+ non-traumatic fractures, so I feel that this is my only option at this point. I am hopeful to see what my next DEXA looks like."

For Osteoporosis "Just started 3 weeks ago after breaking 6 bones in 6 months, I am 57. First week, severe dizziness, headache, and nausea. The dizziness got better after the first week. The headache is daily, the bones hurt at night when I do the injection and am very cold for a few hours, and cannot sleep. Seem very fatigued."

For Osteoporosis "I have been on Tymlos for 3 months. I was scheduled for back surgery, and the surgeon wanted my bones as hard as possible. I have put off the surgery for a while but kept on with the Tymlos. I have joint pain and feel flu-like symptoms more days than not. I also have to urinate more often right after taking it. I do not think I will stay on it for the whole year unless these side effects dissipate. I will say I am getting over my needle phobia!"

For Osteoporosis "Took Tymlos for 2 months. I didn't know why I was so tired, and then I figured out it was the medication. Slept 11 hours per night for a few days and then figured it out that it was from Tymlos, so I stopped taking it. Also, I gained weight. I would not recommend it to anyone."

For Osteoporosis "I have been taking Tymlos for about 6 months now. I rarely had a side effect other than tiredness, until about 3 weeks ago, when I started having pain in my knees and legs. It gets difficult to work out or walk with this pain. I am taking Advil to help me, and I hope it gets better, I do not want to stop the medication. I hope it helps me with my osteo. Doing a scan after my first year of treatment to see if my bones have improved."

For Osteoporosis "Just started the first injection today. The nurse came to my house and showed me how to inject. She left around 20 minutes after the injection. Almost immediately, I started hurting extremely bad in my lower back. I took 2 Tylenol, and after close to 2 hours later, I am feeling almost normal. As much as I don’t want osteoporosis, I don’t think I can continue this drug."

For Osteoporosis "Take it at night, have a slight headache and pressure behind my ears, but not horrible. I have an 'ill feeling' after injection, but I go to sleep fairly quickly after. Palpitations are there, but it calms down after a while. I am on my first pen about 2 weeks in. So far, tolerable. However, I am very interested in why the Tymlos hasn’t had more facts available to the public. Why does it cause the pain in the bones (I am guessing it’s caused from bone growth.)"

For Osteoporosis "I took my first Tymlos injection today. Ten minutes later, I began feeling pressure in my head. This side effect progressed to bilateral throbbing in the back of my neck (I'm supposing that was in my vertebral arteries because it was bilateral). Then throbbing in my back began bilaterally as well (I'm supposing in my kidneys). This pain ramped up in my head and back to an 8/10 on the pain scale. I was writhing in pain, and my respirations were rapid. My blood pressure remained normal, though slightly higher than my normal. My pulse elevated to 120, while my normal is about 75/min. These side effects tapered off after about 50 minutes. Now it is 1.5 hours after the injection, and I am feeling like myself again, except I can tell I recently had a headache. I don't think I will continue Tymlos."

For Osteoporosis "Have been on Tymlos for 2 months, starting 3rd month. Began having severe itching all over body about a month ago, especially in one area (front middle) chest. Itching keeps me up for hours at night, and sometimes I can't distinguish between pain and itching. Has anyone else had a similar experience?"
