Vortioxetine for Depression "I have chronic headaches from a head injury and I am bipolar. I have a wonderful psych doc and a brilliant neurologist. They have always worked in conjunction with one another. I let them know that this was the last drug I would be trying as I feel I have done every drug and combination possible. As most of the reviews have stated, the nausea is significant and the itching intermittently. I find it similar to Cymbalta without the profuse sweating. It really helps with anxiety and doesn't seem to have sexual side effects (happy hubby). Because of the nausea and tummy trouble, I don't eat much and when I do it is because I am craving something. For me, the stomach ache is worth it as it is keeping me stable and productive."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I started taking this about 2 weeks ago. I was petrified because I have been on so many meds for my bipolar manic-depressive state of health. So far, so good. I had like 3 days of nausea, but that is over. I am more focused and a little more accepting of life, versus when I wanted to end my life. I foresee very good results with this medication."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I've tried citalopram, Effexor, Wellbutrin SR and XL, and Trintellix for anxiety issues, but all seemed to cause more anxiety and added depression than I had before I started taking them. Every time I stop taking them, I feel significantly better. Other negative side effects for Trintellix specifically included nausea (I had to stop eating specific foods, and because I was taking the medication with water, I felt sick every time I drank it throughout the day), lower sexual appetite (significantly, it was affecting my relationship), and lack of focus (I'm honestly lucky that I didn't lose my job the week before I stopped taking them). I know I've had anxiety my whole life, but the more I observe my issues, I'm fairly certain that the majority of my anxiety is caused by ADD."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "This medicine is amazing! I was on Viibryd for 2 years and still suffered, but now I feel 'normal' and am interested in life once again. I do have nausea and have trouble falling asleep, but those are tolerable; depression is difficult to tolerate."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "Will probably update later when I’ve been on longer, but so far it’s been very helpful. I’ve been on several antidepressants over the last decade (only one has ever worked and had to be discontinued due to worsening side effects) and had no problem getting approval from insurance. I started on 5 mg for a week and had slight nausea on days 2-5 a couple of hours after taking with food that lasted about 20-30 minutes. I’ve been on 10 mg for a week and no nausea. It’s actually improved my IBS. Appetite has been the same. My depression symptoms mainly manifest as fatigue/exhaustion, brain fog, forgetfulness, lack of motivation. I feel great, I’m motivated, I’ve been working out, getting more done at work and at home, sleeping less (now I’m sleeping more like 8 hours instead of 10-12). My out-of-pocket is $100 for a 30-day supply of 10 mg, I’m looking into bringing the cost down, but if I can’t it’ll be well worth it for how good I feel."

Vortioxetine "I wanted to share my experience on this. I'm a 20-year-old male. I've been on several antidepressants over my adolescence. Zoloft made me irritated/aggressive, as well as Buspar. Effexor made me more anxious, I didn't like SNRIs. Then I went on Lamictal and stayed on it for 2 years. Then got off (very miserable). I stopped taking antidepressants until my anxiety took over, and I snapped, starting a terrible 1 month of depression. I never felt it in my life until now. I went on Trintellix. It made me super nauseous. I started at 10mg for the first 2 months. I felt a slight change in mood, my thoughts are less erratic, and I'm not fixated on daily stressful stuff. I went up to 15mg, hopefully, this does the job. Good med. -1 for the nausea."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I started taking it on Tuesday morning and by that evening started with some nausea. It got worse Wednesday, to the point where I had to leave work. Horrible headache, too. Today (Thursday) the nausea is somewhat better but the headache remains. Called my doc and she said nausea is a huge side effect, unfortunately. It may take up to 2 weeks to fully subside, but to stick with it. Try taking it at night, cutting the dose in half (I'm on 10mg), or taking with food. This is a very new medicine so I hope this helps others in their first couple weeks."

Vortioxetine for Depression "Worst experience ever! The doctor says to push through nausea... yeah, not happening! Vomiting violently 20-30 mins after taking one 5 mg pill! Nausea, dizziness, and many other symptoms worsened throughout the week. On day 6 and giving up now. Never have I been so violently sick (vomit) in my whole life! I would NOT recommend it to anyone!"

Vortioxetine for Depression "I’d been on Cymbalta for 3 years after taking every antidepressant up till now. I thought my depression was situational (marriage and financial issues), but as those things resolved, my depression was still intense. My psychiatrist told me how great Trintellix is, but to avoid side effects, he had me titrate starting with 5 mg Trintellix and decreasing Cymbalta 10 mg every week. Last week I finished my Cymbalta and now taking 10 mg of Trintellix. I haven’t had any stomach/nauseous side effects, but I do have difficulty falling asleep and have the most intense dreams ever, and although I sweat a lot with Cymbalta, I sweat all the time now. I’m not sure if Trintellix is working, although it’s only been a week. But I cry at the drop of a hat; I mean sobbing. Anyone feel or felt like that early on?"

Vortioxetine for Depression "So far, it has been a little over a month and a half on 5 mg for my depression and constant ups and downs. I have bipolar disorder, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Of all the meds, this has helped tremendously, with only nausea as a side effect. I eat toast and peanut butter, and it seems to help. I feel like myself again, with better concentration, more energy, and I'm smiling again. This honestly saved my life with the help of other meds that I am on!"

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "After 2+ months on Trintellix (10 mg), I am weaning myself off as quickly as possible. The side effects have been almost unbearable for me and my family. Daily feelings of nausea and frequent vomiting were bad enough, but the significant irritability and difficulty getting a deep breath were increasing and were the final straw for me! I ended up in the ER 3 weeks ago because I was struggling to get a deep breath. After thorough testing, it was determined nothing was wrong. A deep search on Trintellix side effects made it clear the problem was this medication. I am now taking it every other day until next week when I meet with my doctor. I hope no one else responds to this drug as badly as I did! Take care! I definitely received no improvement in my depression and only major side effects that I can't live with."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I have been on Trintellix for nearly six weeks. I experienced severe nausea for the first 10 days, but thankfully it subsided after that time. The medicine has mellowed me out, but I still feel very zoned out, tired, and listless. I don't have the same 'joy' for life with this medicine that I experienced on another antidepressant in the past. My major concern is an increase in blood pressure. I am an extremely healthy 35-year-old female whose blood pressure has ALWAYS been 110/70. Since starting this medication, my blood pressure has gone from 110/70 to 120/82, then 139/74, and now 149/80. Nothing has changed in the past six weeks other than the addition of the medicine. I'm hoping to find something that is going to work soon."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I’ve been on this for a week and a half. So far, I feel an increase in energy. Pros: I’m much more productive and outgoing than normal. I now feel like I have things to look forward to in life. Cons: a bit of nausea, gas (eek) that is definitely the worst side effect."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I've been on Trintellix 20 mg for 10 months, 53-year-old female with long-standing, chronic MDD and anxiety since pre-teen years. Been on far too many antidepressants over the decades to list them all here. Been hospitalized a number of times, and in my 30s, resorted to ECT as a last resort, which did absolutely nothing. My psychiatrist says my MDD is very treatment-resistant. Antidepressants, even in high doses or combined, have no effect. But I do believe for once in my life, the Trintellix is making some difference for the better in me; it hasn't been a 'miracle' drug, but it does help! No nausea or side effects, either! Also on Xanax, trazodone for sleep, and 10 mg Adderall daily."

Vortioxetine for Depression "My anxiety was so bad I was having body twitches. After starting Trintellix 5 mgs, I started to see a significant decrease in the body twitching, and my mood was better, happier, more at peace. I had some nausea for the first two weeks, then it went away. I am now at 10 mgs once a day and have been on this medication for two months now. It’s a journey, and everyone is different, but don’t lose hope."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I was on Brintellix for a short time while trying to transition from Lexapro. Unfortunately, it was just not the drug for me. I had terrible nausea that never went away, as well as vomiting. Brintellix didn't really do anything for my anxiety, either, and I definitely noticed symptoms of that again. By the time I stopped taking it, my depression was actually worse, but I think it didn't help that I was feeling so bad physically. If you already have digestive issues, this might not be the med for you."

Vortioxetine for Depression "Male, age 50, in good shape. I was prescribed this stuff for what I call 'brain fog,' which I was experiencing three to four times per month and lasted a minimum of 24 hours. Also for attention span, which has been limited as of late. I am on 20 mg once a day and graduated up from 5 mg a day over 5 weeks. The first week I experienced some very slight dizziness and slight nausea. Nothing that I would describe as trying or difficult. At about week 3, I started to notice an increase in attention span. After 2 months, I have not had one brain fog episode. I have not noticed a change in mood, though I was not/am not depressed. I will say I am having some of the best orgasms of my life - and I have been on Wellbutrin, which does not compare!"

Vortioxetine for Depression "My Dr. began me on 10 mg of Trintellix on Aug 6. As of Aug 7, I vomited violently every morning and had diarrhea as well. Sometimes both at the same time. Nasty. Nausea persisted through the day, making eating virtually impossible until dinner time. By Aug 21, I was so irritable I became mean. I couldn't stop verbally berating my husband. It was awful. I began taking the pill at night to escape the GI side effects. I escaped the vomiting but still had gas, bloating, and loose stool. As of today, I still have nausea and loose stool. My Dr. increased my dose to 20 mg on Aug 29. I think it finally started working on Sept 12. I feel like 'me' again. Fingers crossed! As I live in Canada and have drug coverage through work, I am fortunate to not have to pay out of pocket for this med."

Vortioxetine for Depression "In the beginning, I only had a problem with itching. I kept thinking my body would get used to it and it would stop. It didn't, it only got worse. I wasn't experiencing any other severe issues, so I had planned to stay on it, but on Day 7, I noticed that I was having trouble finding my words, my vocabulary was impaired, and there was almost a stutter present. On Day 8, I became very nauseous and decided that would be my last day. The side effects were just too much to wait it out. Day 9, no medication, my husband told me that I seemed much more relaxed and 'involved.' I cannot wait for this itching to go completely away! I did seem to have a little more positive attitude and motivation, but the side effects were too much!"

For Depression "I was on 5 mg vortioxetine for many months. Just 20 days ago, I have increased the dose to 10 mg. This is the greatest discovery in medical science since penicillin. A revolution to treat depression without sexual side effects. Other antidepressants reduce sexual desire and cause problems in ejaculation and orgasm. I have no nausea, clear thinking, cognitive improvement, physical stamina improvement, and no negative thoughts. Happy to report the success of this drug."

Vortioxetine for Depression "Four weeks in and starting to feel like my old self. I was prescribed Trintellix after being diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder, which was feeding into some new depression-like feelings I have never experienced before. I had trouble sleeping the first two weeks, but I contribute that mainly to my already existing anxiety and stress. Besides that, I have not experienced any side effects as of yet, knock on wood. No nausea, no itching, no dizziness. My energy levels are definitely increased, and I can now focus more clearly on my current tasks. I am no longer completely fixated on ruminating negative thoughts. I am feeling optimistic, and I hope this is a sign of good things to come. I am currently on 10 mg after being on 5 mg for the first 7 days. I wanted to leave a review after I spent a lot of time reading some myself before starting the medication, and it was a lot to take in. I know it is different for everyone, so keep that in mind. Stay strong, everyone."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I have been on Trintellix (5 mg) for about 4 months, and many days I feel better, but some days I feel suicidal. Not sure if it is the drug making me suicidal or if it is my depression. So I am debating, do I increase to 10 mg to see if the suicidal thoughts go away, or is it going to make the suicidal thoughts increase? The nausea is still pretty bad. Tums help, and I take the drug with food. Plus, I have IBS, so I am worried about getting pancreatitis. Drugs are so scary, and depression is so depressing, lol. What to do???"

Felt a little nausea at the beginning, but have been on 20 mg for over 2 years. Psychiatrist and therapist think the TMS, along with this med, has helped me immensely."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I started on 5 mg, and after a couple of weeks didn't notice any changes and went to 10 mg. Been on the 10 mg for over a month now. I feel more calm and 'easygoing' now. I used to have panic attacks and anxiety, and those are gone. For those experiencing nausea: I also have a lot of nausea soon after taking the pill, but I now take it right as I go to bed, and I am not bothered by it at all. Mild headaches sporadically. Great alternative to what is on the market right now, especially for those with anxiety who don't want the sedation."

Vortioxetine for Depression "Day 1 on Trintellix. Have been on Zoloft for 1 1/2 years. It helped my PMDD immensely, but I started to feel like I was losing any emotions. Not sad, not happy either. Recently started to feel so blah that nothing I did brought me any joy, I could basically take it or leave it. I told my doctor that I wasn't sad, just wasn't feeling the 'zest' for life that I knew I should be feeling. He switched me to Trintellix. I was reading reviews on it last night, just to know what to expect, so I had anticipated the nausea after my first dose. And sure enough, about 15 minutes later, the wave of nausea hit me, and then I was off to the bathroom. I'm more than willing to get through the side effects in the beginning if it means feeling more like me again."
