Reviews for Vortioxetine

For Major Depressive Disorder: "Started taking vortioxetine (Brintellix) for MDD little more than a year ago, daily dose of 10 mg. Starting up I experienced reduced anxiety after the first week or so. I've experienced increased cognitive ability close to what I felt like before I got sick. My sleep pattern stabilized within three weeks, went from hypomania (sleeping 12 + hours every night and napping throughout the day) to sleeping 6-8 hours every night. All in all the drug has worked very well for me. My sex drive remains, but like many other I do experience nausea and occasionally vomiting. However this only occurs for about 30-60 mins after taking my daily dose. Avoid caffeine and alcohol(!) to lessen side effects."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Depression: "This is by far the best medication for depression on the market. After trying 3 different types , my physician prescribed me this one. It’s a bit pricey but it’s worth it. Ask your physician for the savings card, it helps at lot on the price. Highly-recommend. I have been taking it for a month and 1/2. It works ! Starting to fill like myself again "

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Depression: "During two week span of Trintellix 10 mg , I had 2 episodes of binge eating that were from this drug. Unusual craving for sweets. I was not a binge eater before. My doc wanted me to continue saying such a side effect is rare. After another week decided to stop. In another month I probably would have gained 10 lbs. I also did not notice any major benefits."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Depression: "Tried Trintellix for a week. Helped reveal some hidden guilt and was revealed though last night with a massive panic attack. Stopping it because of the magnitude of panic that required a 911"

For Depression: "I took Trintellix for 3 days and ended up in hospital. The vomiting was so bad, muscle pain, dizziness, migraines. By the end of the 3rd day I was so confused and out of it my family called 911. It has been 3 days off it now and I am just starting to feel human again. Proceed with caution."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Major Depressive Disorder: "I have tried a few anti-depressants over the years since my 20's, like Celexa, Cymbalta, Lexapro (not good for me), Wellbutrin (not good for me in combo with Cymbalta), and now, Trintillex. I did the genetic testing after my experience on Trintillex and found that I have a genetic expression where my brain does not utilize serotonin very well due to fewer receptor sites (SSRI's are not good for me- it's the SLC6A4 gene if you are curious). Trintillex has a very high effects on serotonin receptor sites, so I did not do well on it at all. I had racing/hypo-manic thoughts, itching, higher appetite with food and sex, tinnitus, loose stools, insomnia, nausea, and very high energy. I would highly recommend doing the genetic test through your PCP or Psychiatrist/Nurse Practitioner to determine your specific needs due to your specific genetics. Not every medication will work for everyone, and reviews can only tell us so much."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Depression: "I had to discontinue Trintellix after one week. Was starting on 5 mg every other day and advised to increase weekly until I reached a maintenance dose of 10 mg. daily. This isn’t my first antidepressant, so I was prepared for side effects and an adjustment period. Each time I ingested a tablet of this, though, I felt as if I was poisoning myself. I did not experience the nausea that so many do, but rather diarrhea, insomnia, loss of appetite, itching, and a marked increase of tinnitus that had been in remission. I decided that my body couldn’t handle this particular pharmaceutical and will be addressing my depression, for now, with a combination of lifestyle changes and more frequent counseling appointments. I hope everyone finds an approach that works, whether it’s Trintellix or an alternative."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Major Depressive Disorder: "I started taking trintellix about 3 months ago. I’m on the lowest does 5mg I’m very sensitive to side effects so I start out small. However, I have been nauseous and vomiting since I started it’s hardly lightened up. But, I have noticed major hair loss. I noticed lots of hair come out when brushing thinking nothing of it, but now my hair has thinned so badly there are small bald spots!!! I’m 30 and used to have hair that is too thick!! This is unacceptable. I have never seen anything like this happen and so fast so I know it must be the meds."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Major Depressive Disorder: "It was great the first few days but then I started getting severe nausea and motion sickness everyday around 1pm. Now I’ve been having akathisia (like restless legs but it’s your whole body) mixed with severe depression & dark thoughts. Not sure if that’s this or another med I’m also trying to. But the nausea was definitely this medicine."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Depression: "Trintellix was a godsend at first (as many SSRIs seem to be in the beginning) but over time I stopped caring about the very few things I cared about anymore. I am an avid reader and writer but I found myself growing bored with reading a book almost immediately after starting. I don't write much of anything anymore. I just stay home and sleep. A lot. I take this in combination with 300mg of Bupropion (Wellbutrin) and the latter definitely has apathy as a side effect, but I was always able to get out of bed and live my life. Maybe it's just a bad combination. Anyway, I have been off of Trintellix for about a week now and I am already seeing an improvement in my mood and concentration. The withdrawal ruined my Memorial Day weekend, but it was worth it. Btw, if you're having an issue with the cost ask your doctor if she/he has a coupon. My psychiatrist had me on one that allowed a monthly supply for 12 months, and was easily renewed."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Depression: "First few weeks I was irritable. After about a month I felt amazing. Finally getting along with family and friends. I can finally walk into a room with confidence and not feel like everyone is looking at me and laughing. Sexually, sometimes it takes longer to climax but most of the time its great timing. Thats good for me because I normally finish too quick .Also not to sound gross but normally only a few drops come out and the volume has increased. No other side effects. I feel so happy and not angry and irritable all the time. I can finally sustain work and personal relationships again and I'm much better with my kids. No more angry dad. :)"

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Major Depressive Disorder: "I tried Trintellix after failing with every antidepressant on the market for over 30 yrs. I have MDD and PTSD. I've also tried TMS and Ketamine treatment to no avail. I was on 5 mg. and it worked for awhile. The sexual dysfunction reminded me of the same problem, I've had with all the SSRI's. After the 4th week I became aggressive and very angry plus weight gain. I then stopped. May work for some but not for me (and it's very expensive...not worth the $$). Make sure you wean yourself slowly off this drug."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Major Depressive Disorder: "This stuff Trintellix is pretty close to a miracle for me. I have had terrible reactions to SSRI’s to the point where I was told to not try anymore. I went through 2 long depressive periods, the last for several months with almost constant suicidal thoughts. My anxiety was at a level that I was frozen and isolated. I tried the Dr one last time. He prescribed this at 5mg Trintellix and .50 klonpine 2x daily. Within one week, I was completely myself again. Myself in a way I hadn’t been in years. I don’t feel drugged just normal with normal anxiety in appropriate situations but that’s lowered. I have not gained a pound. There was no nausea for me. The only issue was it does make me sleepy so I take a few hours before bed. So happy to have found this, I would urge anyone with issues with older SSRI’s to give it a shot"

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Depression: "First few days I felt great, prob a placebo effect. As time has passed I'm feeling much worse. I'm staying up too late and sleeping for too long. I have a stutter since childhood, this medication has made my stutter and anxiety much worse. I have been taking 10mg for over 2 weeks now, I'm about to stop this medication now, I can't cope with this rubbish. I have never felt nausea as other mention, I don't have any side effect except from the obvious increased anxiety tho."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Depression: "I've been taking Trintellix now for 10 weeks, 5mg at first then up to 10MG now and the only real downside is the nausea. It comes on around an hour after ingestion and although it's pretty much under control, it can still cause me to gag/heave/puke a little, but I feel so much better being on this medication, I'm more laid back, definitely a lot less anxious than ever before and more able to be in social situations that I can't control. I don't feel the need to 'escape' a situation and I don't feel dread at upcoming social functions. Be careful with alcohol though as it can cause what appears to be mania if too much is imbibed. Also, I don't know why but my erections have become extremely strong and my sex life has been the best it has ever been. It's basically like viagra! I am definitely staying with it and may even explore the 20mg, but the nausea is a bit worrying."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Major Depressive Disorder: "I tried Trintellix two years ago. Loved it. I was happier and had less physical pain. Great! The problem was I couldn't orgasm, so I stopped. I wasn't able to have an orgasm for six months after that. It came back slowly. The other effects were so good though that I tried it again. I had to go off because of the sexual side effects again. This time, I'm only just getting much smaller orgasms back after a year. It has me freaked out."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Major Depressive Disorder: "This Trintellix for my MDD was downright nasty the two months I took it. I even went and had ECT done for a month because it seemed to make my depression even worse. The ECT must have only masked the symptoms because I was mostly okay while I was getting the treatments. But the symptoms came back hard right after I finished ECT. Uncontrolled appetite, sleep problems, extreme irritability and short-temperedness...not fun stuff at all. But shortly after I got off of Trintellix completely and went back to a previous antidepressant that did work for me, I started feeling better already."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Major Depressive Disorder: "This med has been a miracle for me after yrs of trying all the SSRIs as well as SSNI Effexor,... without success (Zoloft worked well for a while but faded). I’ve been on Trintellix for almost 4 wks now—it’s like my major social anxiety and depression have lifted!! I had bad nausea in beginning and almost stopped taking it. I am so glad I didn’t-nausea seems to have gone away...I’m on 5mg since I take Wellbutrin which increases trintellix affect. I pray things continue this way! Give it a chance if you feel nauseas at first. It could be worth it for you too. Constipation is my one issue that I’ve noticed so far, it can be expensive depending on insurance but their are manufacturer coupons and ways around it. With my bcbs low deductible plan, I pay 50 copay per month (haven’t done the discount yet, doc says they’ll cover more bringing it down to 10). I love this med, I’m beyond grateful to actually feel better. They need generic!"

For Depression: "vortioxetine works great for depression and keeping me well rounded, but 20 mg, makes me sick. Didn't matter when I took it, morning, lunch, dinner or bed time, always with food or major I got really sick, so now looking for a new drug. BTW vortioxetine has no sexual side effects which Vybrid had."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Depression: "I have suffered from depression off and on since my teenage years. I've tried literally dozens of psych meds over the last 30 years and had no relief. I started on Trintellix with Wellbutrin XL and I feel great. I started to see results within a week. I have now been on it for three months, and still very happy with it. My mood is great, I have energy and motivation. For me, it's been a miracle drug."

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Major Depressive Disorder: "Prescribed 10 mg a day of Trintellix for depression and the first 10 days I was sick to my stomach and itching, so I take an antihistamine at the same time at bedtime. Day 11 started feeling markedly better, nausea was gone, still itching, but less. Day 14 my overall feeling was 50 percent better than when I started the drug. Today, day 16 saw my doctor again. I had lost weight, my overall anxiety is much better, the depression 70 percent better. All my aches and pains have disappeared. The doctor gave me 2 months of samples and told me to come back in a month if I thought I needed to, otherwise continue as directed. I've been on multiple anti depressants over the years, none worked even half as well as the Trintellix"

Trintellix (vortioxetine) for Depression: "Just started this after being on Lexapro for a couple of years. I've been on Trintellix for about 7 days and I don't really feel much change yet. I just picked up my first 30 day supply of 10mg tablets and with the coupon it came to $10 instead of $57 which was a pleasant surprise. I do feel like I'm sleeping a lot better, not waking up as much during the night and having some very vivid dreams. I feel tired during the day though and don't really have much motivation. I'm not sure however if this is due to my depression or the meds. I have nausea every time I take it even with food. I'm going to start taking it before bed so maybe I can just sleep through the nausea instead. I have also had a constant headache throughout the day...again, not sure if med related. I'm going to finish up my months supply and see if I feel any significant changes, if not, I guess Ill have to try something new."
