Vortioxetine for Depression "I started taking 10mg and have been on it for 3 months. Other than being sick to my stomach, it was the only side effect I had. I then started taking it at night so that I could sleep through it, and it worked. The crying, lack of motivation, isolating myself, and just letting the world go by, as well as fits of anger and yelling, stopped (my son was happy with that). Sadly, I lost my insurance and cannot afford to pay the $300 plus a month for this medicine. I have been off it for 2 weeks now, and I am right back at square one with crying and all that goes along with it. Some days I feel like I just want to give up."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "Best (and most expensive) medication I've ever been on. I've been prescribed every other SSRI, and they gave me side effects of sleepiness and indifference. I have only experienced slight nausea for about 2 hours, 15 minutes after I take my Trintellix. This only lasted the first two weeks. The nausea is the only reason I give this a 9/10. Anxiety and paranoia have been greatly reduced, energy is amazing, and no sleepiness or indifference. I had genetic testing done, and I am deficient in folic acid and don't produce it on my own. I complement the Trintellix with methylfolate by Biotics Lab (Deplin is expensive). I'm happier than I've ever been, and no sexual dysfunctions have happened, so I am extremely thankful for this medication."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I am bipolar and have major depression issues and have been on tons of meds, to the point where I have felt like a pin cushion for these meds. Either they make me so tired I can't do nothing or they just don't work. I started taking Brintellix 3 months ago and I am on 10 mg a day. Side effects, whether I took it with food or not I would throw up almost every day ugh... but on the upside it has made me feel like me again, not miserable and naggy looking at everything in a negative way! The nausea is still there sometimes in the morning but I will take it. So I can cope with everyday issues without freaking out and to be somewhat at peace with myself."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I have a history of situational depression spanning 25 years. After a breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, and a death in the family, I found that my 300 mg of Wellbutrin was not helping as much as it used to. I added Trintellix, and wow... it's a new game. The first few weeks I dealt with side effects like nausea and constipation and didn't feel much different. But after it built up, I feel so good!!! Happier, patient with my kids, less of the obsessive thoughts and general sadness. I can't fully explain it, but I just feel better, more upbeat and positive, and better able to handle what is going on. I take it at night right before bed because it does make me nauseous and made me vomit twice in two months. I also bruise easily and have started taking Senna to help the constipation side effect, which I am having. Trintellix is expensive, but the Takeda savings card takes it to $75/month for me, which is, in my opinion, worth it. I feel like a very happy version of myself, and thank goodness for that."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I am an R.N. and diagnosed 20 plus years ago with clinical depression. I have also been on just about every antidepressant. A week ago, I requested help from my physician due to the increasing depression and lack of help from Cymbalta. He prescribed Trintellix. I switched immediately, and some of the symptoms are withdrawal from the Cymbalta. The 'reverberations' in my head are distinctly withdrawal symptoms. My headaches appear to be from decreased sodium, which is a Trintellix side effect, and for me, are eliminated by drinking Gatorade, which is high in sodium. The nausea is a toss-up and eased with ginger ale and carbs. The itching responds to one Benadryl. Four weeks is the norm for side effects to subside. Identical to the original Prozac."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I have tried a few anti-depressants over the years since my 20s, like Celexa, Cymbalta, Lexapro (not good for me), Wellbutrin (not good for me in combination with Cymbalta), and now, Trintellix. I did the genetic testing after my experience on Trintellix and found that I have a genetic expression where my brain does not utilize serotonin very well due to fewer receptor sites (SSRIs are not good for me-it's the SLC6A4 gene if you are curious). Trintellix has a very high effect on serotonin receptor sites, so I did not do well on it at all. I had racing/hypo-manic thoughts, itching, higher appetite with food and sex, tinnitus, loose stools, insomnia, nausea, and very high energy. I would highly recommend doing the genetic test through your PCP or psychiatrist/nurse practitioner to determine your specific needs due to your specific genetics. Not every medication will work for everyone, and reviews can only tell us so much."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I tried getting off of Effexor for a while, but withdrawals were bad. Lowering the dosage while increasing with Trintellix helped. 5 mg was fine. 10 mg was hard to get used to: nausea, diarrhea, really tired. I was also very itchy, but all of these symptoms went away after a week or two. One thing to note, I was a smoker and after a week of being on 10 mg, I can't stand smoking and quit. I also can't stand soda anymore. So, I am in love with this drug."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder. My doctor prescribed Viibryd. I wasn't ready to start on any antidepressant. Physical symptoms had worsened, and I was experiencing symptoms of depression. It was when I was ready to take medication. I am glad I did! My doctor prescribed me Trintellix. I started with 5mg. It is my first week, and I have been feeling very good - much clarity, can focus now. The only side effect I'm experiencing is nausea on my 3rd day. I sleep well at night, get enough sleep, and wake up refreshed. I don't feel anxious anymore. When I was depressed, I was overeating. This medication suppresses my appetite. I lost 1.5 lbs in 5 days, and I noticed regular bowel movements. This drug does wonders for me!"

Vortioxetine for Depression "I have had great results from this medication for my depression and also my anxiety. I did not experience the 'dumbing' down that I have felt with other antidepressants. My focus is good and I've not had memory problems. One side effect I've noticed is lack of motivation / procrastination. It may sound odd but being a full-time college student, I've never put things off until the last minute like I have been doing since starting this medicine. Other side effects I've had are gas and bloating, diarrhea, nausea. These have lessened over the past 8 weeks. All in all, I'm very pleased with the results. Insurance: I'm not sure how much our co-pay will be for this, as I've been using samples given to me by my physician."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I have had MDD for over 10 years now, and I have been on Venlafaxine XR, Prozac, Cymbalta, and other medications. I have recently been switched to Trintellix because nothing else is helping. I tried to do yoga, Pilates, and daily exercise along with a keto diet. I read the other reviews, and I was very nervous before I started taking this. I thought this was not going to be a good medicine for me, but so far I have had zero side effects! I am on 10 mg for two weeks, and then I go to 20 mg. So we will see how long it takes to work out, but so far it’s not bad. I even got nausea meds just to be safe, but I have zero side effects! So that’s definitely a big plus! Other meds have made me gain 40 pounds and didn’t help. Every person is different, so I’m just trying to be a positive person based on my experience so far. Be safe and stay positive!"

Vortioxetine for Depression "Only been on it for a week and a half so far. The first few days caused dizziness and a bout of nausea about an hour after taking it with food. I don't get nauseous taking it anymore. I still get dizzy every now and then but they're less intense now. I can already tell a difference in my mood. I'm excited to see my future progress."

Vortioxetine for Depression "Lots of nausea after moving from 5mg to 10mg. Days and days of headache and nausea, did get a Zofran RX and I feel much better! I believe this med is doing a good job at helping with my depression and anxiety. Just came off of Prozac after 10 years and I'm pretty happy with the results of Trintellix so far, 3 weeks in! Had to work the much hated job at work today - front desk...easiest day I've had up front in years, I believe due to new Trintellix...very promising!"

Vortioxetine for Depression "This has worked the best for me thus far. I have been on several SEVERAL antidepressants and by far this has been better with very little side effects. Nausea has been the only downside at this point. I missed two days due to my pharmacy being closed and didn't have the 'brain zaps' after missing. Big plus in my book."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "It was very difficult titrating up to 20 mg of Trintellix. I started at 5 mg one week, 10 mg the next week, 15 mg the following week until I reached 20 mg. The nausea, vomiting, and dizziness were almost unbearable, I missed 2 days each week for a month while starting it. Thankfully I was on FMLA and was able to muscle through it. I have been through almost every SSRI, SNRI, etc., and nothing but electroconvulsive therapy worked for me. After the first week on Trintellix, I felt happy for the first time, actually happy, which is why I muscled through the side effects. I have been on it for a year now, and it is a miracle pill. Make it through the first month, and all side effects go away."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I've been on Trintellix for 10 weeks now, roughly. I was on 5mg for a while, now on ten. At first, the nausea was unbearable, and all it really did was stop me from getting overwhelmingly sad as often, but now I've found that I'm more outgoing and capable of trying my best even in uncomfortable situations. The nausea is still there, but it becomes super tolerable, and Gravol is a lifesaver. The only time it became a problem is when I was sick, I vomited non-stop. I had bronchitis, so apparently the throat pain mixed with nausea was to blame. Still, overall, Trintellix has done wonders for my mental health, and I'm hoping the majority of others can agree or find another medication that will do for you what Trintellix has done for me."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I'm still in the process of acclimating to Trintellix while weaning off of Paxil. However, I must say that my anxiety and depression seem to be much better, and my hunger (caused by Paxil) has reduced. One of the major side effects of Trintellix is nausea. So, instead of starting on a 5 mg dosage, I cut the 5 mg in half and took that for three days since I am very sensitive to medications. Today is my first day on the 5 mg dosage and I have not experienced any nausea. The only side effects that I have felt so far are a bit of heartburn/indigestion, mild sleepiness, and mild dizziness, which certainly haven't kept me from doing my day-to-day routine. People should at least give this medicine a chance."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I have been taking Trintellix for about 2 months, after my Lexapro stopped working. The first day after taking Trintellix, I was nauseous. I stayed nauseous for 2 weeks. Now that the nausea has worn off, I LOVE this medication! I feel less anxious and more happy, and things don't bother me as much. Just try to tough out the nausea for 2-3 weeks. It gets better. After that, you'll love it. I highly recommend Trintellix!"

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I'm a 25-year-old woman with major depressive disorder and social anxiety for 8 years (with episodes of agoraphobia). Trintellix solved my major depressive disorder in almost 3 weeks!!! I was very skeptical about the antidepressant meds, but this changed my view about it. I'm very happy with this antidepressant. I feel nauseated at times, but compared with the symptoms of depression, it's negligible. Of course, this is not a magic bullet, changes in your lifestyle are required: exercise, healthy food, no drinking or smoking... Hope this med helps you :)"

Vortioxetine for Depression "I have been on several antidepressants and/or anxiety meds over the past 15 years. This is the first one that I can actually tell a difference without having to take a cocktail of other drugs with it. The ONLY downside was the nausea. The first couple of days felt like morning sickness. Once I got through it, it's been well worth it. And unlike many other drugs, there isn't the overwhelming weight gain."

For Depression "This medication has been a miracle worker for me. I tried 15, yes, 15 different medications ranging from SSRIs, SNRIs, mood stabilizers, and tricyclics. This is the only one that has worked for me. It basically 'turns everything down' for me. I have horrendous anxiety that causes my depression, so the dampening is a huge relief. I had nausea and other digestive issues for about a week, but those subsided. I've been on this medication twice now: I stopped when I wished to become pregnant and restarted after my daughter was born."

Vortioxetine for Depression "Started taking Trintellix 13 days ago and noticed an immediate difference. It helped with my GAD and depression. I had slight nausea after taking it on an empty stomach, so ate a bite of something before taking it until my body got used to it. I've tried EVERYTHING, and this is the only medication that did not cause severe side effects. Very happy, and the results are incredible. I can smile again! ☺️"

Vortioxetine for Depression "I switched from Zoloft due to fogginess at higher doses. As others have mentioned, the nausea and dizziness were definitely difficult for me when I first started Trintellix. At the same time, I could tell this was working for my depression. I was so grateful for the antidepressant effects. I cut back from 10 mg to 5 mg (half a pill) for a couple of weeks, and the nausea began to subside. I went back up to 10 mg, and now nausea is only an occasional problem. My doc said to make sure to take it with food, which I do in the morning. I know others take it at night. The nausea was indeed difficult, but I am so glad I stuck with it. For me, it is a very effective antidepressant."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on 10 mg Trintellix for nine weeks. I also take Risperidone and Buspirone. I was on Viibryd before I started this drug. I have had MDD for 24 years and have been on many antidepressants. Trintellix is by far the best I've been on. I had a little bit of nausea and vomiting, but really no side effects other than that. The side effects went away after the first three days. Trintellix has regulated my sleep and given me so much more energy and zest for life."
