Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I am on 10mg of Trintellix, and have been for approximately 2 years. This med is a miracle worker for me. I am more stable than I have ever been. However, as a result, I experience severe nausea as well as projectile vomiting. If taken after a large meal, it is not as bad. Within the hour after taking the medication, I either feel like I am going to vomit or barely have time to make it to the toilet before vomiting. This is the one negative of this medication, so I have had to choose to deal with this in order to keep the positive outcome in dealing with my MDD. My whole life has changed since starting Trintellix. Vomiting and nausea are a small price compared to just not living."

For Depression "I've tried a few antidepressants and this one worked immediately. What I like is that I wasn't wondering whether it was me or the drug that was making me happy, I was just happy with this. Other drugs make me not care, but this is like a real narcotic where it just instantly makes you happier! The side effects are bad, yeah: constant nausea and stomach aches, but if that's what it takes for me to function, then so be it. My insurance may not cover it though, and I am on the last week of my samples right now. The doctor told me it would take time to feel a difference, but I felt 'on' the first time I took it. It is definitely a stimulant because my jaw hurts a little bit. But at least I'm not crying anymore!"

Vortioxetine for Depression "I am only on day two. I hesitated taking this drug because the last antidepressant I took (Cymbalta) was horrible. It took me a year to get rid of the withdrawal symptoms. To this day, I still have random 'brain zaps'. So back to the Trintellix, I was in the deepest and darkest depression of my life ever. I knew I had to do something, so yesterday I took my first pill. Later that evening, I was feeling much more calm and better. Today, my deep depression is gone. I still have room for improvement. I would have never thought in a million years it would start to work that fast. I was very nauseous yesterday after I took it, but I was nauseous before I took it. I just took pill #2. So far, I am very impressed. I will report back in the future."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I have been on Trintellix for 8 months. It has been life-changing for me. I feel it literally saved my life. I have been on more medicines than I can count over the past 15 years. I did have nausea pretty bad for the first couple of weeks on Trintellix, but taking the medicine at night with crackers and Sprite made it much better after about 2 weeks. Now, here is the hopeless part... I have to go off the medicine due to severe side effects that I do not see others reporting. About 6 months into taking Trintellix (4 months on 10 mg and 5 months on 20 mg), I got severely sick with unexplainable internal bleeding and severe gastro problems. Thousands of dollars on medical testing and nothing found. 2 days off better but mental disaster. Terrible withdrawal."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I'm taking 10mg as prescribed. I didn't feel the need for it, but the Dr. recommended it. I'm hoping my sex drive will increase and to be more patient when driving (not as irritable). I'm still in week one, but I do have multiple side effects: nausea, headaches. I really hope they stop soon. I'm still optimistic about this med. Reading some reviews on here helped. If it doesn't get better, I'll just stop."

Vortioxetine "It has been just 23 days since I began taking Trintellix to help my symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks, negative or worrisome thoughts, a feeling of impending doom. My sleep disturbances are better. I find myself getting more done throughout my day. My worry and negative thoughts are less. I had previously been on Zoloft for ten years or more. I suggest your doctor prescribe a cross taper of more than a week at the very least to prevent the infamous 'brain zaps.' Anyone else with long-term use of antidepressants will know exactly what I mean about those. I was afraid and apprehensive to start it. It stayed in the bag about 5 days before I got the courage to take it after reading possible side effects. I had some very unrealistic fears. If my review can help anyone with symptoms like mine, I urge you to take the medication. I feel a lot better, and things are changing. The only side effect I've had is nausea."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I just came off 112.5mg/day of Effexor, which was absolutely HORRIBLE. My doctor has put me on 10mg of Trintellix. I have immediately begun feeling better mentally and emotionally for the first time in months, even while dealing with these withdrawal symptoms. I didn't have high hopes given my past experiences with antidepressants and honestly was about ready to give up on medication altogether. I am experiencing some nausea, which could be from withdrawing, the Trintellix, or most likely both. Seriously, for how bad I am feeling physically from the Effexor, I am absolutely amazed that I can feel this positive mentally. I'll update when the physical symptoms subside."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "Had tried several other antidepressants and was close to giving up. Trintellix saved my life. I had increased energy and mood within a couple of weeks, started being able to be more active, and was able to think about the future without feeling overwhelmed. It was amazing. I've had depression for years and had forgotten what it felt like to actually be interested in life and not feel like dying every time I woke up in the morning. Side effects have been minimal: lots of nausea that has contributed to some weight loss but not enough to be worrisome, and it lowered my libido and made it slightly harder to orgasm. Compared to other things I tried, the side effects are hardly noticeable! BMI: 19.1, Trintellix 15 mg daily. I have noticed that if I miss a dose (I take it at night to reduce the nausea) and take it the next morning when I remember, I'm pretty irritable and down already just taking it 12 hours late. Overall, definitely recommend!!"

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on Zoloft for about 5 years with no problems. But recently, I started having panic attacks again, was always tired no matter how much I slept, couldn't enjoy life, and was having suicidal thoughts again, so my GP switched me to Trintellix. I'm about 2 weeks in, and so far, so good! Almost immediately, the suicidal thoughts stopped, and I actually have energy again. I am still struggling with not wanting to go out and do things, but am pushing through. I am very happy with the results so far. Side effects are mild nausea for a couple of hours after dosing and trouble sleeping. My head is feeling a little 'swimmy' at times too, but I think that may be from stopping Zoloft."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I went on this medication because I have a condition called PGAD (persistent genital arousal disorder). The condition I have is absolutely horrible. I was previously on Zoloft for over 10 years, 100 mg. It starts to flatten out, so my doctor also gave me Wellbutrin 150 mg in 2016/2017. In May 2019, my PGAD condition occurred (reasons are still unknown). I was then told to go off Zoloft due to its sexual side effects and try something else. My doctor gave me Trintellix 10 mg. At first, it worked okay. I felt super nauseous for a while. Then later, almost every night, I was throwing up an hour after taking Trintellix. I took Trintellix for 8 months with zero relief of the vomiting. I have to take domperidone before my Trintellix so I don't puke. My condition sort of got better, now it is terrible. I also have anxiety and panic attacks nearly every day and cry very easily. It just isn't the pill for me. It was used for my anxiety and did not work."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I have been on Trintellix for about 4 weeks. 2 weeks on 5 mg and 2 weeks on 10mg. I have been on numerous antidepressants for depression and anxiety. This has been by far the best. A little nauseous after taking it the first week and a half. Nausea went away after eating something. No side effects after the second week. No weight gain so far. Feel better every day."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I took Trintellix 10 mg per day. In the past, I tried several other antidepressants with little success. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with this medication either. During the first month, I felt excessively angry and irritable all day. I knew that wasn't like me, but I kept taking the medicine because I know the first month can be rough, and I wanted to see the benefits. The medicine also made me feel sick to my stomach sometimes, like a sudden wave of nausea. Things went easier after the first month and a half, and I stayed on the same strength for another two months. At the three-month marker, I felt only slightly better in general and noticed the same occasional sharp dips in mood as when I wasn't taking any medicine. The benefits weren't as great as I thought they would be, and I had more or less constant stomach/bowel issues, so it wasn't worth it for me. I'm no longer on this medication and have chosen not to replace it with another."

Vortioxetine for Depression "When I first started Trintellix, I went the dose increases like I should. Started at 5 mg dose, then 10 mg. No major issues. I noticed the slightest nausea when brushing my teeth, but that was it. I knew to take it on a full stomach so I wouldn’t feel sick. Then it was time to go up to 20 mg. So I did. After a day or so, I had strong nausea. So my doctor and I decided to go back to 10 mg as it worked. A few years later and a different doctor, I was feeling more depressed and tried a different drug that didn’t work. So I went back to Trintellix. We decided maybe I didn’t have nausea that bad or maybe it was something else. So I switched, started fine on 5 mg, and went up to 10 mg with no issues. Went to 15 mg and the depression felt like it was finally under control with only nausea brushing my teeth. Well, we decided to go up to 20 mg. And guess what? Nausea. It was so bad today I just had to lay there and take a nap until I felt better. So I guess 15 mg is my sweet spot for this drug."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I had tried Cipralex for a while when I was younger, and it helped with my depression, but the side effects were unpleasant and unhelpful. I had sexual dysfunction, blunted emotions, and a terrible crash after one beer, resulting in weeks of anxiety. I was off and barely scraping by without help for years when I finally saw a new doctor who listened to my story and recommended Trintellix. On the first day, I noticed my mood improve. Over the weeks, the residual anxiety vanished. I felt excited to wake up with the sun for the first time since childhood. The nausea was difficult to cope with, but if I take it before bed when already sleepy, I am asleep before the nausea starts. It helped my concentration a little, and we added Concerta to the mix. I still cry, but it's when I have a reason to now. Little things people take for granted, like vacuuming and doing laundry, are possible. It drained my savings, but it helped me feel ready to try again. I'm finally employed and getting somewhere again."

Vortioxetine for Depression "When I started having Trintellix 10mg, nausea and itching nearly made me discontinue, but as my doc added Atarax 25mg (hydroxyzine) those nasty side effects disappeared completely. I think I am pretty satisfied with the drug, since I can tolerate it better than SSRIs or SNRIs, only minus is the higher cost compared to the older drugs."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "The first day I took my 5 mg dose, I began to experience minor bouts of dizziness every so often and a decrease in appetite, but figured I was just getting used to it and decided I'd wait it out to see if it improved. In just 3 days, I became severely dizzy, nauseated, and could no longer keep food down. I was disoriented and overwhelmed with an unusual feeling. I was basically unable to function and had to immediately stop the pills. Since then, my mood has tanked, and I've become irritable and aggressive and have had unusual and impulsive urges. I've never experienced anything quite like it and have seen a lot of other similar experiences. If you start this medicine, please inform yourself of the symptoms of serotonin syndrome! While it has done badly for me, some people are doing very well on this medication, so I can't in good conscience tell people not to try it. I wanted to share my personal experience and hope it informs people!"

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I had severe nausea. I would take Trintellix every morning, and within one hour after taking this medication, I was vomiting severely. It went on for a couple of months, and I had to be changed back to Lexapro! I was so disappointed because it made me feel better. Even after I would vomit, I was okay, so in order to keep taking the medication, I had to be put on and take Zofran every day. I didn't feel it was worth it, so I switched back to Lexapro. Has anyone else had these side effects? What should I do? Please help me out! Thanks."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I’ve been on the 5 mg for about a week now. I switched over from Zoloft because, after many years, it stopped working. So far, I have felt great. I haven’t had any nausea or adverse effects. I up my dose to 10 mg in a day or so, and I’ll update if I notice any changes, good or bad. So far, it’s been great though. I would say that the only effect I’ve noticed is my clothes are fitting differently. I haven’t weighed, but I think I’ve lost some weight! I’m pretty optimistic."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I have been dealing with major anxiety for almost a year. My Dr. put me on Prozac, Wellbutrin, and I was already taking Lamotrigine. I started having bad side effects. Tired all the time - all I wanted to do was lay on the couch. Dry mouth and losing an excessive amount of hair. She switched me from Prozac to Trintellix. I was initially afraid to take it due to all the research I found about nausea. I can attest that I feel great now. No nausea. I'm not tired anymore, which was a huge deal. I still have dry mouth, just not quite as bad. I'm hopeful Prozac was the cause of the hair loss and it will stop soon (been 2+ months). It feels great to feel great."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I was on 5 mg of this for anxiety, after I found Cipralex to be really sedating. I was only able to last a week on it due to being extremely nauseous, throwing up once, and feeling really strange on it... almost a floating kind of feeling. That being said, I did find my head felt more clear than on some other medications I've tried, and I didn't feel as foggy and sleepy. My doctor mentioned sometimes it takes about 2 weeks to see if the side effects will go away, but I couldn't handle feeling so nauseous after a week. If you're still trying to find the medication that works best for you, please don't settle or give up - there is one out there for you (and me, I'm still searching, this is my third one I've tried), it's just an extremely frustrating and scary process. All of our bodies' chemistries are so different, so also don’t let these reviews scare you off too badly from trying something that could be great for you, unfortunately, it just wasn’t great for me."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I've been on Trintellix for around 5 months, and I've had great results. When I started on the 5 mg, I definitely felt the nausea, but it went away after being on it for about a week and a half. The nausea only returned when my doctor upped my dosage to 10 mg, but it went away after around two weeks once my body got used to it. Since then, I've noticed a huge difference in my overall mood. I feel more stable, generally lighter, and happier, and the only other side effect I've experienced is very vivid dreams. They aren't unpleasant dreams at all, just incredibly vivid and the kind I always remember when I wake up. But overall, it really is like clouds have parted, I feel stable and hopeful again for the first time since I can remember."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "I've had the side effects of nausea, diarrhea, and low sex drive. Even so, it has helped improve my mood and reduced my anxiety. The side effects have decreased in the past few weeks, but at first, they were bothersome. Largest complaint is the copay! Our cost is $122 after insurance! Outrageous. I probably won't be able to afford it for long. Sad because I finally found something that was working."

Vortioxetine for Depression "I've been taking 10mg for 4 days now (today will be day 5) and I'm wondering if I can make it a full week like my doctor wants me to. The side effects have been horrible for me. I've been walking around like a nauseous zombie since day 1. Then there's the dizziness and headache that goes along with it. The only benefit I've experienced so far is weight loss, but that's not at all why I started taking this medication. Instead of the anxiety and depression I would normally feel, I feel no emotions."

Vortioxetine for Major Depressive Disorder "My doctor gave me Trintellix recently for MDD and anxiety disorder. I was on Viibryd on and off for 3 years, and it was not working for me anymore. I started Trintellix at 5 mg for 7 days and now I'm on 10 mg, day 5. I'm not crying anymore, my anxiety level is almost nothing, and I feel happier. The only side effects I got were nausea after taking the medicine for about an hour and itchiness. I had to take Benadryl. These passed after about two weeks. I do not feel clouded like most other SSRIs make you feel or tired. I just feel normal! I think this is a great medication."

Vortioxetine for Depression "Life threw me a number of BIG curveballs in a row, and I found myself in a deep depression. Tried several other SSRIs, and nothing helped. Life was pretty bleak. My psychiatrist recommended trying Trintellix. At over $400 a month, I was hesitant, but since nothing else was working, I figured I'd give it a try. This medication was a game changer for me. The lights turned back on. I'm enjoying my life again. My husband said he hasn't seen me this happy and playful in years. Yes, the nausea can be a little rough at first. Ask your doctor for a Zofran Rx if you start this med. It was a game changer and got me through until my body adjusted to it. No sexual side effects (which I've had with every other SSRI I've tried). If you feel like you're running out of options, this medication is worth a try."
