For Melasma "*WARNING* I decided to try this medication for treating pigmentation. Unfortunately, I haven't been on the course long enough to see the improvement. But I have experienced side effects of extreme tiredness, fogginess, lightheadedness, depression, along with a swollen lip and hypersensitivity of my thyroid, etc.... and it's only been 10 days of use. I am putting this out there that people need to be extra cautious with this drug. For me personally, I don't think it's worth the effect it brings onto your body. Along with other horror stories I have read in the reviews, I won't be taking this drug lightly."

Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "Used for the first time and it was great with slowing down the bleeding (literally shocked at how well) and allowed me the ability to carry on with life. The bleeding was lighter but still lasted 7 plus days. One major concern I had was in regard to passing clots. While normally heavy, I passed two extremely huge (much much larger than normal) clots. Hoping a result of just first-time using."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I'm 45 years old and scheduled for a total hysterectomy for fibroid cysts. While waiting for the surgery date and having horrible, unbearable pain while passing huge blood clots, the doctor on call prescribed tranexamic acid 2 three times a day. Within 20 minutes of the first dose, I had relief from pain! Now on my third day, and bleeding has substantially subsided, and most importantly, the pain is gone! I experienced no side effects. These were an answer to prayers!"

For Melasma "Lightened my forehead melasma in a week and continues to lighten. I’ve only been on it a little over a month. My melasma is so light I can’t even see where it used to be on my cheek, and my forehead spot is so faint I don’t care to cover it with makeup anymore (I wouldn’t be caught without concealer on before starting). I don't think anyone even notices it. I am supposed to take 650 daily, half AM, half PM, but usually skip PM dose since just half is helping so much anyway. My doc only wants me to take it for 3 months."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "Within 20 minutes of taking this medication, one side of my body became numb, I got really confused, and felt like I could not talk, and then I lost consciousness briefly. It was the closest thing I can imagine to a stroke, and the aftereffects from this very scary experience lasted for days. I was told to discontinue immediately."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have been on tranexamic acid for 4 cycles now. I was having very heavy 'flooding' periods. On my heaviest day, I would have to stay home from work. It was overwhelming how often I would have to change a super plus tampon. My uterus is full of fibroids. My sister had the same condition and had a hysterectomy. That was before this was FDA approved. I feel so fortunate. This medicine is great. My bleeding has decreased enormously. I can sleep through the night. I don't have 'flooding'. I don't have to double up with a super tampon plus night-time pad. It is fantastic. My period is longer by about 2 days, but really light bleeding."

For Melasma "I started using tranexamic acid in March 2020. I used it for 4 months, and my skin was looking better than it had in over 10 years. As soon as I stopped, my hair started to fall out. I don't know what to do. I can't stop it. Now here I am in September 2020, and the melasma is almost completely back. Now I have two big problems. So depressing."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I had a myomectomy last year in August 2020, as I had a huge fibroid, which was 15 cm. Just before this surgery, for one month, I suffered from heavy periods, and one day I had to get admitted in emergency as the flow was uncontrollable, and I was changing my pads within 5 minutes with large blood clots. To stop this bleeding, the doctor gave me an injection of tranexamic acid, and then before surgery, I had it for 2 days. It’s an effective medicine, no doubt, and after surgery, I am still taking it because of heavy bleeding on the 2nd day, but what I noticed is that it is making each cycle more heavy than the previous. Initially, I started taking only 1 pill on the 2nd day. But on the 4th month, I had to take 10 tablets for 4 days. I don’t know what this is, but tranexamic acid makes blood clots, and after taking this, I started passing more clots with less bleeding. Can anybody who has experienced the same please tell?"

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I'm 31. I've been having extremely heavy periods for about 4 years, ever since I had my Implanon removed. I have been literally going through 50 super plus tampons in a single day. I can't work when it's like that. I started Lysteda two cycles ago, and although it's helped lower the bleeding tremendously, they have also discovered I'm no longer ovulating. Although the medicine has worked wonders, I have gone ahead and opted for the hysterectomy, as the doctor says it's the only thing that will fix it. So, this is my last extremely painful cycle to deal with! I definitely recommend the medication for anyone with heavy bleeding that interferes with their life the way it has mine."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I've suffered with heavy periods for the past couple of years. I wanted to make sure that I considered all options before choosing surgery. This medication is great, but has some side effects. For me, I have headaches and diarrhea while on this medication and a few days after my cycle has ended. I also found that my cycle lasts longer when I take this medication. At this point, I've opted to contend with 2 days of heavy bleeding and with a cycle that lasts 4-5 days, as opposed to taking the medication with extended periods, headaches, and diarrhea; that could last 8-9 days. The plus/pro of the medication is that my periods are lighter when I am taking the medication, however it stays on much longer."

Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "I was diagnosed with fibroids, a tipped uterus, and a small ovarian cyst - causing extra heavy and erratic cycles. I really don't want surgery, so my GYN put me on Lysteda. I loved it for the first couple of months -- after the 2nd month, my cycle started occurring every 2-3 weeks. One month it did not happen at all. Then the last 2 cycles seemed to be normal - until the end, then they started all over again with clots and heavy bleeding. Back to my GYN. Looks like I may have to have the surgery after all."

For Melasma "I was prescribed TXA for melasma, which seemed to work - my melasma started to lighten after only a few weeks. However, 6 weeks into the treatment, my hair started shedding a lot. I stopped taking the TXA, however, my hair continued to shed. I have not been taking the TXA for a month, and my hair is continuing to thin and recede at the hairline, crown, and nape of my neck. If anyone else experienced this, did your hair eventually return?"

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I am 37 years old and have been dealing with debilitating periods for 20+ years. My issue used to be horrible cramps (so bad I would vomit from pain), and most recently the bleeding and large clots became more of my issue. I wouldn't even leave my house because I was afraid of the sudden 'whoosh' that no feminine product could be a match for. :-( After testing, I found out I have a large fibroid. Not wanting to jump to surgery, I chose to take Lysteda. (My insurance gave me a generic version.) The reviews on here made me scared to death to try, but I started to take it anyway. My clots have stopped, and my flow is 50% lighter, so I would call it normal finally. I still bleed for 5 days and have minor cramps, but nothing like I used to have! I can live a regular life when I have my period! My cycle starts like clockwork now, before, I was usually a week or more late each month. I will say, it DOES make me sleepy, but that is my only side effect."

For Menstrual Disorders "Am nearly 40 and have suffered badly for 12 months, apparently, I am at that age with periods where it gets worse before it stops. After examination scans, a number of contraceptive pills, injections, and implants, nothing has worked over the years, only made me worse. So after 2 kids (12 and 8 years old), my husband had the snip, and I decided it was time to go back to square 1 with seeing a doctor to be given this box of lifesavers (tranexamic acid). I swear it's the best thing, not only does it reduce my menstrual flow, it reduces the pain. I am more alive, able to cope with no interference in the night (not the PMT), and I can live a lighter, less painful life. So far, so good. I start it on the 1st day of bleeding, even if only spotting, and stop on the 4th day, being the last day you take the tablets. It worked wonders for me."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have 20 large fibroids that have come back after two my surgeries. I have just started taking these tablets, and what a huge difference it has made to my life. I can now leave the house and no more flooding. I can sleep through the night without getting up multiple times to change. No more large clots. If you bleed to death every month, get these tablets!"

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I am taking Lysteda for the first time. It works extremely well. My flow has been reduced by about 75%. I used to soak through both a super absorbency tampon and overnight pad within two hours. Now I can just wear a pad, and it doesn't get full. The only side effect that I'm experiencing is headaches. I don't normally get them, but the results are worth it."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "My periods were extreme bleeding, large and numerous blood clots to the point of anemia from fibroids that would affect whether I would leave the house. I was using tampons and sometimes layering 2 pads next to each other and it still was not enough. I hate taking medications, but felt I was to the point that I needed to try something. I took Lysteda (2 pills/3 times a day) for my first time, it was amazing. Only used a tampon and light pad. Other periods after, bleeding was cut in half. Side effect: occasional headache. Lets me manage periods while I prepare for uterine artery embolization."

For Menstrual Disorders "I was recently given tranexamic acid for a period I had that wouldn’t go away. It has almost completely stopped the bleeding, and I have been taking 2 pills 3 times a day until the package is gone, as recommended by my doctor. The only weird symptom I found with this is that it causes diarrhea, which doesn’t seem to be a common side effect, it’s almost like a laxative."

Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "I am very pleased with Lysteda. My OBGYN prescribed this med for my heavy periods I've been suffering with since I had a tubal ligation in 2007. I have just completed my first cycle, and I am pleased to say I FINALLY HAVE A LIGHT TO REGULAR FLOW PERIOD. THANK YOU FOR THIS MED...LIFE SAVER!"

For Menstrual Disorders "My doctor just prescribed this medication for me to use until my surgery. I am to take two 650 mg tablets up to 3 times daily as needed. It is to be taken only during my menstrual cycle and not to exceed 5 days. I am always nervous and reluctant to take new medications. Yesterday, I took my first dose when I was experiencing an extremely heavy menstrual flow and was getting very faint. I did not expect it to work so quickly! I saw a reduction of blood flow very quickly. I have taken only two more doses, and I am still pleasantly surprised. I have noticed absolutely no side effects."

For Menstrual Disorders "I had a myomectomy about 3 years ago for fibroids. Less than a year later, in 2017, the same doctor says the fibroids came back, which means I had a pointless surgery. The doctor suggested removing my uterus at the age of 38 with no kids and apparently no future to have kids because the surgery was to enhance my chances of having kids. The doctor then suggested tranexamic acid 650 mg, 2 pills 3 times a day. The drug was working at first-lighter and shorter cycles. I was able to enjoy life during my cycles for the last 3 months (I guess there is a new manufacturer) manufacturing the drug, and now it is no longer working. Very heavy and more painful cycles. Huge blood clots and a lot more blood in the toilet, making me weak and dizzy due to the increased blood loss. I'm not sure why anyone would change the medication, but it was working great at first and now it is not. I sure hate it. My only other option is a hysterectomy while still in my late 30s. Very disappointing and disheartening."

For Menstrual Disorders "I used to have super heavy periods, where even standing up would be an issue (now have bloodstains all around the house from leaking), and I would leak through a super plus tampon and super night pad together after just an hour. Now my period is 'normal.' I wouldn't call it light because it's still not light, I think, but it's just normal like other people's periods, and I think it is FAB! I would recommend this to any fellow lady with crazy mental periods because I've not leaked since! Wooooo! (However, cramps have slightly worsened.)"

For Melasma "The melasma was 80 percent gone. I used it for six months, 650 dosage. After stopping using it for a month or so, the melasma came back much darker. Yet, I'm using the best sunscreen out there and reapply multiple times a day, but that darn thing is still sneaking up on me, and now I'm back to square one. As far as side effects go: I experienced weight loss, hair loss, grey hair, cold tingling feet, and unpredictable menstrual flow. All in all, I will not take this drug again. It's not worth going through with these side effects."

Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "This medication is life-changing! I have uterus didelphys (double uterus), so I have an extremely heavy period. I would wear a super tampon and pad at the same time and have to change them every 1-2 hours. Hormonal birth control gave me some not-so-great side effects and interacted with some other medications I was taking, so my gyn suggested this. Thank God she did! I feel like I’m finally in control of my life again when I’m on my period - it’s light, predictable, and I don’t really have to worry about it. I’ve been using it for several months and I haven’t noticed any side effects."
