For Menstrual Disorders "I have had irregular bleeding or ‘withdrawal bleeding’ since I’ve changed my pill. Been bleeding for 11 days now (5 days on tranexamic acid), and it hasn’t lightened at all, if anything, it’s got heavier. How do I stop this? Tempted to stop the pill completely as I can’t cope with this now. I shouldn’t be bleeding for this long, and it’s making me feel ill... probably due to being low in iron due to the prolonged bleeding. HELP!"

Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "Used for the first time and it was great with slowing down the bleeding (literally shocked at how well) and allowed me the ability to carry on with life. The bleeding was lighter but still lasted 7 plus days. One major concern I had was in regard to passing clots. While normally heavy, I passed two extremely huge (much much larger than normal) clots. Hoping a result of just first-time using."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have been on tranexamic acid for 4 cycles now. I was having very heavy 'flooding' periods. On my heaviest day, I would have to stay home from work. It was overwhelming how often I would have to change a super plus tampon. My uterus is full of fibroids. My sister had the same condition and had a hysterectomy. That was before this was FDA approved. I feel so fortunate. This medicine is great. My bleeding has decreased enormously. I can sleep through the night. I don't have 'flooding'. I don't have to double up with a super tampon plus night-time pad. It is fantastic. My period is longer by about 2 days, but really light bleeding."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I had a myomectomy last year in August 2020, as I had a huge fibroid, which was 15 cm. Just before this surgery, for one month, I suffered from heavy periods, and one day I had to get admitted in emergency as the flow was uncontrollable, and I was changing my pads within 5 minutes with large blood clots. To stop this bleeding, the doctor gave me an injection of tranexamic acid, and then before surgery, I had it for 2 days. It’s an effective medicine, no doubt, and after surgery, I am still taking it because of heavy bleeding on the 2nd day, but what I noticed is that it is making each cycle more heavy than the previous. Initially, I started taking only 1 pill on the 2nd day. But on the 4th month, I had to take 10 tablets for 4 days. I don’t know what this is, but tranexamic acid makes blood clots, and after taking this, I started passing more clots with less bleeding. Can anybody who has experienced the same please tell?"

Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "I was diagnosed with fibroids, a tipped uterus, and a small ovarian cyst - causing extra heavy and erratic cycles. I really don't want surgery, so my GYN put me on Lysteda. I loved it for the first couple of months -- after the 2nd month, my cycle started occurring every 2-3 weeks. One month it did not happen at all. Then the last 2 cycles seemed to be normal - until the end, then they started all over again with clots and heavy bleeding. Back to my GYN. Looks like I may have to have the surgery after all."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have severe adenomyosis for more than 15 years. My uterus is as big as a 4-month-pregnant uterus would be. I am prescribed tranexamic acid because I have extremely heavy menstrual bleeding. I was on norethindrone for about 56 months, and then I received a Lupron shot (last resort) before I started tranexamic acid because somehow Lupron didn't stop my bleeding even after 4 weeks. Tranexamic acid didn't seem to work for me. I was on 6 tablets a day, and I usually take it at 8 am, 4 pm, and 11 pm (before going to bed). My bleeding would be lighter during the day, but sometime after 5 pm, I'd start seeing very heavy bleeding with blood clots. It's been going like this for a few days, and I've been to the ER twice and received a blood transfusion because I lost too much blood."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have PCOS and endometriosis, I've had two laparoscopic surgeries, two coils fitted, but both came out. I've also had Zoladex injections, but they're not safe long term, though they did make me feel normal while I was on them. I was prescribed tranexamic acid on day 18 of my period. Now I'm on day 22, and I have the heaviest bleeding I've had in my life, cramps that would make a horse faint, and bloating so bad I can't get my jeans on. I've also had my first nosebleed in 3 years. The current health crisis of COVID-19 means I can't access healthcare the way I normally would, otherwise, I'd be back at my GP because I've never had it this bad. In short, this is not working for me - I feel significantly worse now than before I started Tx."

For Menstrual Disorders "Started taking this to help with very heavy flow, as I can't use the pill or have a coil fitted due to allergies. I was really hoping this would help me, but unfortunately, my bleeding is heavier and my cramps are so much more painful. It's made everything worse."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I’ve suffered from heavy bleeding for years now. I do have uterine fibroids. My doctor has tried every medication under the sun for me, and this was my last option. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I started Lysteda the first day of my cycle for three days and my cycle was actually worse. The clots were unbelievable and cramps like I was in labor. Very disappointed, I thought this would be my miracle medication. Glad it works for some. Never taking it again."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have been dealing with abnormally heavy periods for 20 years. No doctor has ever offered any solution aside from various oral contraceptives. A doctor wanted to try this, so I agreed, and I am sorry I did. Bleeding was worse than usual, and the cramps nearly had me in the hospital. After two cycles, I called it quits, but I'm still dealing with the side effects a month and a half later. I have spotted the entire time from my last cycle until this one, and this one is much heavier and has now been going for 9 days of heavy bleeding with no end in sight. I used to bleed very heavily for about 3 days and then spot for about 10. Well, that was awful, this is so much worse."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have been prescribed these tablets by my doc a few days ago! I have heavy prolonged periods for a few years now, and with PCOS, I thought these tablets would work. But I was WRONG, massively wrong. Two tabs, 3x a day for 4 days, and for some reason, I'm on day 4, not much on my pad, BUT clincher... I went to the toilet and happened to notice as soon as I had a wee a load of BLOOD came out. Sorry, TMI, but DAY 4, seriously!!! =( I'm so disappointed in these tablets as my doc said they would help stop the heavy bleeding and stop the prolonged side of it and shorten my period, but NOPE! This isn't the case at all. I gave them a shot, and sorry to say I'm never using them again... useless pills for heavy periods! Now I don't know when I'll be off my period =( so unhappy about this now."

For Menstrual Disorders "Since Oct 2021, I've had heavy menstrual bleeding due to uterine fibroids after having an internal ultrasound to confirm this. My periods have always been regular and at a normal flow, which lasts about 4-5 days, so I'm finding it quite hard to suddenly have to deal with this. I'm 44 and have been referred to a gynecologist, which could take up to 16 weeks for an appointment (I'm in the UK). These pills worked really fast the first time I took it, and I initially only took 1 pill 3 times a day, and by day 3, the bleeding had stopped. However, I've had to increase to 2 pills, 3 times a day, and it would take well over a week for the bleeding to stop. I've become anemic, tired, and rely on ferrous fumarate to up my iron levels, which can be hard on the stomach at times. A few days later, there would be spotting, and the bleeding gets heavier again. I feel like I'm on a never-ending period and have to make sure I have enough pads and tampons at work. It's really getting me down."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have been having a terrible time since Jan. Got my coil replaced, and it just didn’t settle my bleeding. Then in June, I had a major bleed, and the hospital said my coil had fallen out, so another one was fitted, but I haven’t stopped bleeding since June. Started injection decapeptyl to put me into menopause, along with HRT, and still bleeding heavily and with clots. So now on northerestirine 2 x 3 times a put, and on tranexamic acid, and still bleeding, and the pain is so bad. Been in and out of the hospital 7 times since June, and nobody seems to be listening. Have a scan on Monday but can’t cope with this much more, as the bleeding and pain are so bad."

For Bleeding Disorder "We are done having kids. Over 9 years, I have tried several different IUDs and pills, but results were unsatisfactory overall. I came off the pill and took the Depo Provera shot one week ago. My primary goal was to reduce period bleeding, and I was prepared to wait through spotting. However, Depo didn't work for me. I experienced very heavy bleeding with clots. I was prescribed tranexamic acid, which has reduced the bleeding on day 1. I plan to take 2 pills daily for 8 days, and hopefully, the bleeding will stop. Otherwise, I'll keep using tranex to manage symptoms till my 3 months on Depo expire. I will not be taking another Depo shot. I'm happy to manage my periods with tranexamic acid alone. I didn't try tranexamic acid while on the pill as I was advised of the risk of increased clots. I'm so grateful to God for the invention of tranexamic acid and expect to live my life freely from here on now using it. I also considered ablation or a hysterectomy but decided neither was worth the risk!"
