Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "I've been on Lysteda for 6 months and it really has saved my sanity. I didn't want to jump the gun with a review as I've had birth control pills work for a month or 2 then suddenly my period would come back as bad, if not worse, and lasted once for 41 days! The bleeding and clotting sending me to the bathroom every 30-45 mins has stopped, no more getting up in the middle of the night or changing the sheets at 4 am, and I've been very lucky with no side effects. 6 pills a day is a lot, but considering the alternative of unstoppable bleeding, I happily take them. It's not a total miracle, I still have 'heavy' days, those would've been a good day for me in the past. It's worth it, I'm very happy with it."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "Lysteda changed my life. For years, I have experienced incredibly painful periods with debilitating blood flow. I experienced severe anemia, bruising, and menstrual cramps that caused vomiting and fainting. I would clot through super pads and tampons at least once per hour (wearing them simultaneously even overnight) for five+ days. It was impossible to even leave my house because of how often I would bleed through my clothes. My doctor recommended trying Lysteda before opting for an irreversible surgery. (I am not able to go on birth control or use implants due to a uterine deformity.) Lysteda started working immediately, within an hour. My periods last about 4 days now and I can get away with wearing just a pad. My life has changed and I am so thankful!!"

Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "Well, it's obvious that this medication is not for everyone, but for me, I gotta tell you that I am grateful that I took this decision. For years, I have been having the worst periods, just like most of you. I couldn't go out due to my heavy days. It came to a point where I had to wear diapers to sleep and during the day. I suffer from multiple fibroids, one is 5 cm. But when I was given my options, I decided to take Lysteda and try it for 3 months before a hysterectomy, and it was the best decision ever. I went from gushing periods to almost spotting ones. The first day I tried, I was on my second day of my menstrual cycle and it was really bad. But I took the first 2 pills, and within 30 minutes, my period just stopped. It was so light I could not believe it."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have horrible periods ever since getting my tubes tied 4 years ago. I bleed so much, so fast. An overnight pad and tampon every hour. I wake up in the middle of the night overflowing my overnight pad. My doctor prescribed me these pills last month. My first period was 75% lighter within an hour. I only took it the first 3 heavy days. Period ended like normal. This month my period is barely there, and I haven’t even taken it. I’m on my second day, and it started to pick up a little, so I took the medication. Within a half hour, it’s more like spotting than a period. I love this medicine and wish I would have found it sooner. The only side effects I have experienced are the tiredness the first time I took it and the cough I seem to have gotten after this second time I took it. I’m not sure if the cough is from the medicine or not, but it didn’t start until this evening."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have used Lysteda 2x now with great success. It has slowed down and then stopped my menstrual cycle within 4 doses. I am a bit concerned that one of the possible side effects could be blood clots. I personally have not had any. However, because I am an RN, I have realized that the side effects of this drug could be scary if not used EXACTLY as the doctor has prescribed and at the time intervals prescribed. I have had headaches each time that I have used it but I also suffer from migraine headaches. For me, the headaches are worth the benefit that Lysteda provides. Just make sure that the directions for use are followed completely and report any odd/new symptoms to your doctor."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I take Cyklokapron 500 mg, 2 tabs 3 times a day for 4 days, along with 2 tablets of Naproxen twice a day, famotidine one tablet twice a day. I am 47 years old and am suffering since 2 years. Fibroids (stable size) but excessive bleeding requiring changes in double pads every 3 hours! The tablets are wonderful and I am very happy. Reduction in blood flow by 70%. No side effects. Have tried it for 1 cycle and plan to continue."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I had to write a review to sing the highest praises for this medication! I am 48 years old and have PCOS. My current menstrual cycle started 14 days ago as a normal cycle, then increasingly became heavier and heavier. Just like the other women have posted, I was soaking tampons and pads within two hours with no end in sight. I just finished my third dose, and I had my last sanitary napkin on for almost four hours before I needed to change it, and it still was not full! I can face the world again and I am starting to feel like myself! I am scheduled for an ultrasound, but I will deal with those results when the time comes. For now, I am thankful for Lysteda!"

For Menstrual Disorders "I have to share my experience with tranexamic acid for heavy periods that I have had for as long as I can remember. I would be bleeding through two boxes of super plus tampons, bleeding for 7 days, and just horrible cramps sometimes, most of the time during my period. I don't even leave the house because it's so heavy. This tranexamic acid has been a miracle worker for me, it reduced my bleeding up to 50%. I am so happy that I found this, and my doctor prescribed it. I had no side effects, and it's amazing. It has truly, truly helped me, and I am so grateful."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "This is the first month I have used Lysteda. It has significantly helped because before this medicine, I was not able to function during my cycle. There has been improvement of at least 50% if not more. I am amazed with this product. I would highly recommend this for anyone with problems with their menstrual cycle."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I was prescribed tranexamic two to three times a day in January, and it changed my life. I was having to change my clothes up to 7 times a day, bleeding through a Supermax tampon and nighttime Super Plus pad every hour. I also began to feel lightheaded, shaky, and weak, like I was dying. The first day I took tranexamic acid, I saw major results, and it has been working to give me what I assume periods should be like. Sometimes I wouldn't have to take all three doses after day 3. It changed my life. So I have been on them since January, this is my 6th cycle. The thing is, I am not taking them so far this time as I am barely spotting, only noticing, when wiping, a color change to a dark brown, which means old blood. I am not sure why this has happened, not complaining, it is impossible that I am pregnant, so it must be a result of taking this for 5 cycles. Looking to see if it builds up in the body or something. Prefer this way around, but to be honest, part of me feels uneasy, like where's the lining of my uterus if not coming out."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "This medication, Lysteda, has saved my life!! I am 34 and have been dealing with debilitating cramps and heavy period bleeding for years. I am also anemic as a result of the excessive blood loss-mid-cycle spotting plus 8-day periods. I found out about this medication through a Google search (my doctors have all wanted to put me on birth control and suggested NSAIDs, which do NOT help me). It works within an hour of taking it-cramps are completely eliminated, and the bleeding reduces to “normal” levels."

Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "First day on this med and I didn't expect it to work as fast as it did. Usually, on the first day of my period, I bleed so much. But even after taking the first two pills, I saw the difference in blood flow. With my last two pills for the day, I still saw a significant decrease in blood flow. I didn't have any side effects at all my first day and time using this and hope that continues. So far, this is the best medication for me, and I'm happy."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have been taking Lysteda for 2 months now, and it is a godsend for me. I am so tired of long, drawn-out periods that consist of heavy flows and clotting, making it uncomfortable in my daily routines. The first month, I had my period for a month, and Lysteda finally gave me a break. The next month was heavy, but as soon as I started taking Lysteda, I saw improvement and was happy with the results with no side effects so far. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have had irregular bleeding or ‘withdrawal bleeding’ since I’ve changed my pill. Been bleeding for 11 days now (5 days on tranexamic acid), and it hasn’t lightened at all, if anything, it’s got heavier. How do I stop this? Tempted to stop the pill completely as I can’t cope with this now. I shouldn’t be bleeding for this long, and it’s making me feel ill... probably due to being low in iron due to the prolonged bleeding. HELP!"

For Menstrual Disorders "Have been bleeding since June, it's now October. Had Mirena placed in August but continued to bleed through that, as well as severe discomfort from Mirena (and terrible acne), so got it removed on 1st October. Still bleeding. The doctor gave me tranexamic acid to take if the bleeding didn't stop, so at day 9 of bleeding, I started it. Noticed large clots were less and bleeding lessened. Taking 2 pills 3 times a day for 4 days maximum. I don't know if bleeding will get worse and/or continue once I stop the pills after day four? Read others' comments here and am really worried about hair loss as a side effect when I stop the pills. Also worried about if the layers of the uterus are still building up?"

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I am in my mid-40s and had been dealing with heavy periods for the last 10 years. I have had a hysteroscopy (not hysterectomy), tried every kind of birth control, and most recently, endometrial ablation, and nothing had worked. I was not willing to get a hysterectomy without trying all my other alternatives. I found Lysteda on the internet and asked my doctor to let me try this. Lysteda has been a lifesaver for me! I gave it a 9 out of 10, though, because I have had serious dizzy spells and I am attributing this to the medication. But it seems to be the only side effect I have."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have only been taking this medication for 3 days, but I can tell the difference already. After having my tubes tied, I started experiencing even heavier periods than I did before. I've always had heavy periods, but they got worse after my tubes were tied, I would wear tampons and overnight pads. Last night was the first night in over a year and a half that I did not wear a pad to sleep, and it was marvelous, especially since I hate pads anyway. Keep you updated with progress, like I said, this is just day 3."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I experienced abnormal heavy bleeding for 4 weeks, was anemic and in danger of needing a transfusion. I took Lysteda, as prescribed, for 5 days. It slowed my bleeding and I was able to sleep through the night without getting up to take care of overflow, allowing much needed rest. After 5 days, my bleeding stopped entirely. Doctors are still looking for the cause of my abnormal bleeding, but Lysteda has addressed the crisis and is giving me a reprieve from heavy blood loss. I'm grateful."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "Wish I'd known about this drug sooner! 1000 mg every 8 hours, only needed for 3 days (vs. 5 days prescribed). It's reduced flow by a remarkable 50%! No kidding. No side effects. It is not a pain reliever, it is not meant to be, it helps slow down the bleeding process. Doc said keep taking ibuprofen for pain (also, ibuprofen can reduce flow, it works on prostaglandins. I had achieved a reduction of 20% in flow with ibuprofen alone, google it). I'm 42, large fibroids, periods so heavy I couldn't leave the house. I get migraines, and NO, this didn't give me a migraine."

Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "This medicine is a blessing. I am 43 years old. I eat healthy and exercise every day except weekends. On March 15, 2017, I was given the depot shot for my heavy bleeding. BIG MISTAKE. From the shot, I experienced more bleeding and blood clots than I ever experienced prior to taking the shot. My bleeding continued for over 90 days. I was admitted to the hospital for low blood and had to have 4 pints of blood transfusion. On July 4, my doctor prescribed Lysteda. I did experience some cramping and back pain, but after 5 days of taking this medicine 3 times a day, my bleeding stopped completely. Now, my husband and I are much happier people!!"

For Menstrual Disorders "I am 44, and I just started having really heavy periods about a year ago. I use a super plus tampon and an overnight pad and can soak that up in an hour. I have bled through many things: pants, panties, sheets, you name it - I've bled on it or through it. I was prescribed this pill a year ago and tried it one day and never used it again. I have been so desperate, I was like, what the hell, let me try it again. Well, I am on my fourth day of my period, and boy, does tranexamic acid work. Normally my period lasts 10 days, and the fourth being the heaviest. Well, it's the fourth day, and I barely am bleeding, so thankful I have given it another try."

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have been using Lysteda for almost a year now. It really helps with my heavy period and horrible cramps. I don't take it for my entire period, only for the first few days when it's heaviest and most painful. Taking this medication has caused a few problems for me, though. I used to have very regular periods, and they usually lasted about 5 days. My periods are VERY irregular now, and they are a bit longer (about 8 days)."

For Melasma "*WARNING* I decided to try this medication for treating pigmentation. Unfortunately, I haven't been on the course long enough to see the improvement. But I have experienced side effects of extreme tiredness, fogginess, lightheadedness, depression, along with a swollen lip and hypersensitivity of my thyroid, etc.... and it's only been 10 days of use. I am putting this out there that people need to be extra cautious with this drug. For me personally, I don't think it's worth the effect it brings onto your body. Along with other horror stories I have read in the reviews, I won't be taking this drug lightly."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I am a 47-year-old woman who was diagnosed with uterine fibroids and, therefore, suffers from menorrhagia and anemia. My doctor first prescribed Norethindrone, which made me bleed even heavier and longer with the most horrible cramps ever! I went back to my GYN, and she prescribed the tranexamic acid. So far, so good! My bleeding is very light, and I only bled for four days as opposed to the usual 10 days. I have not experienced any side effects at all. I just started taking the medicine, but so far I have no complaints, other than I have to pay for it every month. There are only 30 pills in the bottle, and you need to take two pills three times a day for five days. But if it stops me from the heavy bleeding, I say it's worth it!"

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I took Lysteda 2 pills 3x a day for 5 days and my period was much lighter. Extremely lighter. But then I got another period for another 5 days after no flow for 4 days and now I am having a third period this month. They are all lighter and more manageable but who wants to bleed for 15 days of the month. I am planning to try it again next month to see if my body just needed to get used to it but this month wasn't what I was expecting."
