Thyroid desiccated for Underactive Thyroid "I’ve been on NP for 4 months. I haven’t been feeling well and have a splitting headache, so I googled side effects. I don’t know what made me think it could be thyroid medicine. For some reason, it just popped into my head. I have very bad headaches daily, bloated stomach, constipation, I’m very cold all the time, foggy, and just out of it. I’m so tired and have a 'I don’t care' attitude. I used to take levo and didn’t have any of these problems. My numbers aren’t changing, so the doctor keeps increasing the dosage. Now at 120 mg, I have such blurry vision, which is sometimes double vision. Heart palpitations. Chest pain. Joint pain. I can’t sleep. I'm glad I came here to read, I thought I must have a terrible disease. Seeing doctor in a few days."

Thyroid desiccated for Underactive Thyroid "I have been taking NP Thyroid for about one year now since NatureThroid became unavailable in 0.5 grain. It's been okay but the last two months I have begun feeling horrible. I have no energy, feel very tired, digestive problems, bloated painful stomach, headaches, brain fog, leg cramps, anxiety/panic attacks, depressed, complete loss of libido, fat gain around the middle, and more. In early September, I noticed my NP Thyroid refill smelled horrible. I contacted my pharmacist and he told me batches vary - it's normal. So I continued to take it, feeling worse over time. I stopped taking it for 3 days as a trial this week and felt somewhat better. I since found a few websites and blogs that discuss the issues. I am not alone. Will contact Naturopath tomorrow to see what my options are. I too, like others, feel poisoned. It seems like my reaction is more than just hypothyroid symptoms. I did not feel this badly before starting thyroid hormones."

Thyroid desiccated for Underactive Thyroid "Many years ago I was told by my doctor that I had hypothyroidism. First, I took Synthroid, which made me very sick, so for years I never took anything, ate healthy organic foods, and felt wonderful. I went recently to a specialist (Endocrinologist), and he also said my blood levels showed an underactive thyroid. The strange thing is that I don't have any of the symptoms of this disease. But I tried Armour Thyroid for about a month and had chest pains, stomach cramps, and I was so tired all the time. I spent most days in bed. Now I went off Armour Thyroid, and I feel back to normal. I don't care what a test shows... it's how I feel that matters."

Thyroid desiccated for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I have been taking Armour Thyroid since 2015. My TSH has been creeping back up in the last few months, and I feel like something changed in the Armour. I am exhausted, feel comatose, like I'm never fully awake, and dragging my body around. Wondering if there has been a reformulation or a product quality issue. I have an endo appointment, and I know the doc's solution will be to go on Synthroid. Anyone else having similar recent (2019) issues with Armour?"

Thyroid desiccated for Hashimoto's disease "I found out I had an underactive thyroid about 2 years ago, and as a college student, I found it so hard to focus in class. My doctor placed me on Synthroid, and I took it for about 6 months. I had severe headaches, depression, weight gain with no weight loss in sight, and feeling tired and horrible. I went to my ob-gyn for a yearly check-up, and he checked my thyroid, and now I'm taking Armour. I love this medicine. All the headaches, loss of focus, and the weight gained again are gone! I take it at the same time every day, and this pill works for me!"

Thyroid desiccated for Underactive Thyroid "I have had many of the same experiences with the chemical thyroid meds. I asked to be switched over to Armour and felt great. Then, after a few years, I noticed something was terribly wrong, had heart palpitations and just super tired all the time. I went to the pharmacy, and he told me that they changed the formula and that it had more fillers. He said that he could compound it for me, and that would take care of the problem. So, I asked my doctor and got a prescription for it to be compounded. All I can say is what a difference!!! Back to my old self."

Thyroid desiccated for Underactive Thyroid "Had taken Armour Thyroid for 20 years but starting 2 years ago I experienced brain fog, aches and pains which was thought to be fibromyalgia, no energy, severe headaches, insomnia and hard to get out of bed and always tired. I have taken many tests, scans and seen many doctors during that time and couldn't find an answer to my complaints. I felt like I was losing my mind and in desperation began searching the internet and came across information about Armour. I understand Forest Labs bought Armour in 2014 and Actavis bought them in 2015 - lo and behold! I saw complaints which were identical to mine and quit taking them on September 22, 2015. I felt better within 2 days and am angry that I lost 2 years of my life."

Thyroid desiccated for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I started on levothyroxine. It never helped, so I switched to NP Thyroid. I felt more energized and didn’t fall asleep everywhere. Recently, I started to feel tired again, falling asleep at stoplights, feeling bloated, even if I didn’t eat, feeling like I can’t catch my breath, increased anxiety, and I have this pain in the right side of my neck I’ve never had before. I noticed when I got my refill of NP Thyroid in September 2019, the color, smell, and taste were noticeably different. All these new symptoms started with this new prescription; nothing else has changed. The drug company may claim it’s still of as high a standard as before, even with their new supplier, but clearly, something is wrong if many people have the same experience I have. Let’s make this about helping your patients feel better instead of any other reason that’s been concocted; go back to the old version. I’ll be switching to something different because NP Thyroid is no longer a product worth buying."

Thyroid desiccated for Underactive Thyroid "I have been on Armour for 4 days and I have already noticed a difference. I could actually take off my wedding ring. I sleep really well for about 7 hours. Not waking up constantly. My swelling has gone down significantly. My joints do not ache. Not getting as winded. I am taking 60mg. I have noticed that I am really tired at night. I like the suggestion of taking it at night as well. I'll have to check with my doctor and get his opinion."

Thyroid desiccated for Hashimoto's disease "Switched from Nature Throid to NP Thyroid last summer and was delighted, it worked great. However, this new refill, obtained fall of 2019, has been terrible. My body is exhausted, my brain non-functional, all my symptoms came roaring back with a vengeance. Scary. I read somewhere they were getting their raw material (pig thyroid) from a new supplier, which clearly is not working. Please get it together, NP, you are losing customers in droves."

Thyroid desiccated for Hashimoto's disease "I have taken Armour Thyroid for 30+ years after Synthroid did not work. In the spring of 2020, I began to feel terrible. Headache, tiredness, pain in my joints, no energy at all. My IM ran a thyroid panel on me. Everything normal (I don’t think he ran antibodies). I asked him to switch me to WP Thyroid. He did, and within weeks I started to feel like my old self. That lasted for 6 months, and WP Thyroid was pulled from the market. I had to go back on Armour Thyroid. All my previous symptoms are back, and I feel terrible again. I am sure that Allergan has reformulated Armour Thyroid. We must report and complain to the FDA to get RLC Labs preparations back on the market."

Thyroid desiccated for Hashimoto's disease "Been on Armour Thyroid for 2 plus years. I have never felt this miserable in all my life. Except NP thyroid. Synthroid and levothyroxine helped with numbers. Didn't fight the brain fog, lethargy, and annoying side effects. I have been living in a nightmare for over 2 years being on this medicine. I've been suicidal, continued, if not worse, brain fog, hair, skin, and nails. My whole body is not functioning anymore. Functional medicine people push this like drug pushers. Tried compounded thyroid as well. What a joke. These drugs seem to be a joke. Haven't been able to work full time in 8 years. Dr. took me off estrogen, and this is what happened to me. Hypothyroid, functional medicine doctors didn't pay enough attention to the numbers, I kept telling them over and over again. Now I have Hashimoto's and feel like rubbish. Functional medicine is a joke. But Armour and NP are the biggest joke. Have no clue where I will be going next on this nightmare journey. Good for you all that feel better on this medication."

Thyroid desiccated for Hashimoto's disease "If I could list -1 as a rating, I would. Proceed with caution with this medication. I did not know what was happening to me until I spoke with two mutual friends over the holiday weekend. The confusion, depression, exhaustion, unable to sleep, and rapid heartbeat are the short list. I started NP Thyroid in May of 2019 and reached out to my doctor to switch me back to my RX in October. I've been on my old script for less than a month, but my symptoms are still present. Gained 15 lbs quickly, and joint pains are overwhelming. My life has been affected! Be careful... please!"

Thyroid desiccated for Hashimoto's disease "I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. United Healthcare and Medicare say Armour Thyroid is not covered by them. I was on Armour Thyroid for 15 years. My insurance made me try other meds. I tried other thyroid meds including Nature-Throid. I put on 48 lbs under Nature-Throid, my body was tired, I was dizzy, could not function, and had incontinence. I am now back on Armour Thyroid feeling better every day, decreasing in weight, and other symptoms are gone. But I have to pay for it myself, and since I am on Social Security, it is a big expense. Thanks, Armour Thyroid."

Thyroid desiccated for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I had RAI (antibodies for Graves and Hashimoto's). It worked for me until they recently retooled the plant. I'm not sure why there is a change in the product, but I've had a dramatic drop in T3/T4 blood test numbers, below the lowest acceptable level. I ache all over. My hair is dry and brittle. I have put on 20 pounds over the last few months. I am so tired! Why did they change something that worked?"

Thyroid desiccated for Underactive Thyroid "I was prescribed Armour Thyroid for four years. The first year was great! Felt better than ever before (currently 42 years of age), but at about the two-year mark I noticed a difference. My energy plummeted, almost seemed depressed. So I started taking antidepressants. That did not help. So to answer all my problems, my doctor kept increasing my Armour Thyroid dose. I went from 60 mg to 160 mg in a four-year period. I could not sleep, I felt depressed, and had absolutely no energy. I went to a cardiologist and endocrinologist to help see what the problem could be. They both advised me it was the hormones: testosterone, progesterone, estrogen, and Armour Thyroid medication."

Thyroid desiccated for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I have been taking Armour Thyroid for 10 years, and it has been great. In March of 2021, I started feeling dizzy, old, weight gain, and breaking out in hives. Something has changed with Armour for sure!!! I tried Levothyroxine and was totally exhausted, so back on Armour and hives are all back again. Does anyone know if the fillers changed or something?"

Thyroid desiccated for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I was on Synthroid for 14 years after my thyroidectomy (thyroid cancer). My body stopped absorbing Synthroid medicine. My doctor prescribed NP Thyroid, and I figured, great, something new and I’ll finally feel better. The exact opposite happened. I had diarrhea for 2 months every single day (I’ve never had stomach issues), heart palpitations, and I was tired all the time. Talked with my doctor this week, and we checked my levels. My T3 and T4 were dangerously low. For 2 months, the medication didn’t work at all. I called the pharmaceutical company today to put in a complaint and am waiting for someone to call me on a recorded line. It’s alarming to read all of these comments and hear that we all have similar issues. I’m a working mother who needs to have my medicine to function. I’ve missed work, sporting events, and time with my family. Please look into these ingredients, fix them, or remove this medication from the market."

For Underactive Thyroid "It took 15 years after chemotherapy treatments to be properly diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I finally found a GP who also practices holistic medicine, and she ran a series of tests that were much more detailed than what regular GPs offer. Although my TSH levels were not too high, I was very symptomatic with severe bloating by the end of the day, a puffy face, lethargy, mood swings, bouts of laryngitis, nightly snoring, and about a 5 kg weight gain. These symptoms had been persistent for years to varying degrees. Within 2 weeks of being administered natural desiccated hormone therapy, there was a big improvement in all symptoms, and 1 year later, they have completely disappeared. I feel 15 years younger."

Thyroid desiccated for Underactive Thyroid "I was prescribed Armour Thyroid after trying Synthroid and finding out it didn't work for me. With Synthroid, I actually felt worse: nausea, no appetite, even more tired, but Armour Thyroid was such a relief and made me feel normal again. It made my hair stop falling out at such an alarming rate and helped my weight stabilize. I actually have energy to do things now! I have been told by my pharmacist though that Armour Thyroid is no longer being made. I have to try to switch to another natural thyroid medication, and I'm not sure what my doctor will be giving me. I hope my testimonial on the effectiveness of this medication, in combination with everyone else's, might show how good this medication is and bring it back."

Thyroid desiccated for Underactive Thyroid "When I was diagnosed with thyroid problems around nine years ago. My TSH was a 6.7. I was placed on Synthroid. I developed terrible headaches right from the start. The doctor decided to switch over to Levoxyl brand. Let me tell you, it has been a whirlwind of problems from tiredness, to aches and pains coming out of nowhere. I gained 50 lbs in the last nine years. Constantly dieting, going to the gym, nothing worked. Swelling and cloudy thinking. The doctor said my TSH was normal. Okay, just started on Armour Thyroid 60mg. Unbelievable. My aches and pains are gone. Lost five pounds in these last two weeks. Swelling is gone and I am alert! Do your homework and take charge. I finally did! 'Armour changed my life'."
