For Underactive Thyroid "I was on Armour Thyroid for many years. Pharmacy recommended NP because of the price difference, so switched me to NP, and I noticed extreme flu-like symptoms, headaches, hair loss, insomnia, swelling (even facial swelling), all-over body pain, and constant exhaustion. I asked to be switched back to Armour after a month of misery on NP, and to please make note on my account to NEVER give me NP again because of the terrible reactions. After new blood work, I unknowingly was given NP again and took it without realizing that it wasn’t Armour. My life became a living nightmare! The anxiety attacks have been awful. My nails break easily, hair falls out in alarming amounts, continuous dull headaches accompanied by brain fog that has been very concerning. The feeling of exhaustion is unbelievable, and I cannot sleep. Joint pain, miserable indigestion and reflux, profuse sweating, inflammation, and muscle aches. My energy is ZERO, and the crying makes me feel crazy! NP Thyroid is HORRIBLE!!"

For Underactive Thyroid "I was taking 30 mg NP Thyroid, and I had to stop it. I hurt all over, lost most of my hair, and the worst part, I could not breathe. I could only lay around and not walk to do anything. I stopped taking it, and I could breathe better, and the pain in my stomach went away. I am not taking anything now. My weight had also gone up. My insurance won't pay for Armour Thyroid, and my pharmacy will let me buy it for $13.95. It's very bad for me. God bless you all."

For Underactive Thyroid "Horrible, horrible, horrible. This new stuff from Accela is just garbage, with a variety of side effects. After yesterday's bad day, I went back to straight T4. These new pills have no consistency to them. Will never take NP Thyroid again, ever."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Will never take this rubbish again!!!! I have no thyroid and thought this would be a good med since it's natural, wrong!!!! Dizziness, heart palpitations, extreme exhaustion. I am going back to levo as my labs were horrible on NP - elevated T3, but the rest low. No more of this horrid drug."

For Underactive Thyroid "Have taken Armour thyroid for 45 years. Pharmacy switched me to Acella thyroid NP. After a couple of weeks, I realized something was wrong. Low energy and just slowed down. Pharmacist insisted that was Armour thyroid! My experience is that Acella thyroid is garbage and smells awful too."

For Underactive Thyroid "I live in Austin, TX, and have been taking NP Thyroid 30 mg by Acella for about a year since Nature Throid became unavailable. The refill I picked up a few days ago definitely smells and tastes disgusting—cat urine is a good description. I took it for one day, and it seemed to upset my stomach. I had my pharmacy take a look at it, and they said that indeed it smelled bad, opened a new package, and gave me a new refill. When I got home, I opened the bottle, and the same thing—smells so horrible and tastes disgusting, so I didn’t swallow it. I have left messages with Acella customer service, but no call back yet. If anyone else wants to call, their number is 678-325-5189. I’ll let you know if they get back to me."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I never write reviews, but want to share my experience with NP Thyroid by Acella. I have many of the same problems listed here already. I have taken thyroid replacement for 20 years. I had been on Armour for years; my dosage is closely monitored as my blood levels fluctuate a lot. My doctor switched my dosage, and the pharmacy filled it with the generic NP Thyroid instead of Armour. We have new health insurance. I decided to try it; maybe it would help keep my levels more steady. Three weeks in, and this is the worst I have ever felt mentally. I have never been so depressed in my life. I have dealt with anxiety, but this is different: hopeless, weepy, with a dark depression. I have gained over 10 pounds, and all I want to do is sleep. The confusion and brain fog are almost scary; I can't remember or figure out simple things I do every day. Maybe if I could give it more time, my body would 'adjust,' but I had to call my doctor to go back to Armour. There is no way I could take the NP another day."

For Hashimoto's disease "I have been on NP Thyroid since January 2019. BEWARE, I have been in the emergency room 4 times since starting this medication. It started with a racing heart for days, and my blood pressure would rise from 135/90 to 220/110 in one hour. I was very, very ill, went into the ER for this 4 different times. I got off this medicine, no more problems. This batch smells horrible too. BEWARE."

For Underactive Thyroid "Was prescribed this medication for hypothyroidism. My doctor and I agreed on this one because I would only have to take it once a day as opposed to twice a day, which sounded great. Started waking up with really bad headaches (I take other medication 2x a day to control migraines, so I thought I was getting sick), but then my knees started hurting really badly and swelling. I stopped taking the medication, and a few days later the headaches went away and my knees felt better."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was noticing symptoms of rapid weight gain (bloated face, etc.), extreme fatigue, lethargy, high sensitivity to cold, constipation, high cholesterol, etc. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and put on this medication (NP Thyroid) from my general practitioner. I've begun having increasing nausea, anxiety, and irritability, rapid heart rate, and haven't noticed any improvements to the original hypothyroidism symptoms. I'm going back to my doctor and requesting a change in medication."

For Hashimoto's disease "Was switched to NP Thyroid after Nature-Throid was recalled. I was doing really well on the Nature-Throid, but I tried to stay positive in taking this one. It smells and tastes disgusting. I noticed unexplained pain in my hip, constant indigestion, upset stomach, random diarrhea. Seven months in and my T3 is off the chart, T4 and TSH are super low, basically hyperthyroid. In the past month, I developed horrible anxiety, crying randomly and uncontrollably, trouble sleeping, and fatigue. I barely recognize myself. Had a complete breakdown in the middle of an exam. My professors are mad and think I'm somehow incompetent, although I kept trying to explain I didn't know what was going on. Finally went to the doctor and found out she had prescribed Armour, but my pharmacy was filling NP instead. I'm fighting with insurance to get Armour covered, but I can't continue with NP. My temporary dose of Armour already smells better than the NP. I'm praying this works, because I don't know what I'm gonna do if it doesn't."

For Underactive Thyroid "This RX of NP Thyroid used to make me feel so much better, almost 'back to normal' - all of that changed with my August refill. It tastes and smells horrible, makes me nauseous, and all of my hypo symptoms have returned. Whatever changes they made, it is now worthless to me. I am waiting on my doctor to decide what to change the script to..."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was switched to this medication, NP Thyroid, after being unable to fill my NatureThroid script in June 2019. Since then, my mental fog, headaches, and body aches have increased. I refilled my prescription in mid-September, and the latest batch made me so nauseous, with a severe headache. I'm now working with a new endocrinologist to get me off of this drug and reevaluate what I need."

For Underactive Thyroid "I took 60 mg NP Thyroid for symptoms of fatigue related to low T3. I was jittery, and my heart rate went up to 130. I could not eat or sleep. I took it the next day and felt worse, BP went from 110/60 to 146/79. I only took it 2 days total. It has an awful taste, too. My NP took me off of it after 2 days."

For Hashimoto's disease "Pharmacist substituted Armour RX with NP two months ago. I didn’t notice because I didn’t read the label (12+ years taking the same thing.) Weight gain, headache, equilibrium/balance off, blurry vision, joints ache, picking up a pitcher of water difficult, memory issues. I’ve missed 4 of the last 5 days of work (I rarely take leave) because driving the hour to work is too exhausting. Only realized the switch yesterday when I called the pharmacist to request replacement pills-figured I had a “bad batch” of Armour."

For Underactive Thyroid "I’m a 35 yo male that’s been through the wringer figuring this thyroid stuff out, and I’ve taken everything. From T4 and T3 from Latin America and Asia to all the known ones from the USA-based labs. I have to say, I take NP Thyroid 90 in the morning, and not going to lie, I feel amazing. It definitely works, and as all of you out there who know how it feels when it’s not working right, I can say once you have the right dose, NP Thyroid is the best. I take it sublingually, and it tastes amazing! I take that plus intermittent fasting and on-and-off ketogenic diet, and my life has changed for the better. Love NP Thyroid, wanted to let y’all know the stuff is good! Just figure out the right dose, diet, and lifestyle, and you’re set! Don’t give up, it’s been rough for me, but I think I’ve finally figured it out. Much love, all."

For Underactive Thyroid "1.5 mg. I haven't had any problems at all, helps me sleep better, stable heart rate, my muscles tighter, have no more low back pain, and no more vertigo. My adrenals didn't like it at first, but taking some adrenal support helped that. Do your research, so much better than Levothyroxine."

"Horrible medication. I experienced pelvic pain, water weight gain, severe joint pain in my knees, depression, mania, puffy face, profuse sweating, headaches, and bloating. I also had abdominal pain and major chills. I went back on Armour…willing to pay more money. This drug is horrible, the worst experience of my life!"

For Underactive Thyroid "NP Thyroid was prescribed for me for the first time, so I have no other meds to compare to. The first 4 days, energy, positive weight loss. 2 weeks, my hair feeling dry & breaking. Shortly after this, hair is falling out from the root in GREAT amounts! I have fine hair and really cannot lose anymore. My doctor said to cut my 30mg dose in half. This didn’t help, my hair continued falling out. Finally, she said to go off completely. I was on this for one month, 5 days. After going off, I got weepy, depressed, and felt worse than before I started. It’s been 15 days since stopping the NP, and my hair isn’t falling out as much. I’m not feeling as weepy anymore. I have some weird dry bumps on my scalp that just started since this med, and I have a dermatology appointment for that next. The pills smell like urine. I thought that was normal as well. I am going to be very apprehensive about trying another medication. But for now, still dealing with the aftereffects of this horrible medication."

For Hashimoto's disease "WORST MEDICATION EVER! Before this, I was on levothyroxine for 4 years, and a new doctor I was seeing switched me to NP. A month in, I was extremely dizzy to where I couldn’t do normal day-to-day things and was scared of standing in public places because I felt like I was going to fall. I ended up quitting the NP thyroid after 4 months of dealing with this, and a month after quitting, I am almost 100% back to normal."

For Underactive Thyroid "This is the scariest medicine I have ever taken. Never had these problems on Nature Thyroid until I switched to this medication, and within a month developed horrible pain in my hand joints that went on for months until it was diagnosed as pseudogout caused by this stuff. Just a very bad and painful experience. Never want to take it again."

For Hashimoto's disease "NP is the best NDT on the market today. I have tried EVERYTHING. Was suggested this by Mayo Clinic in MN. I would give it a '10,' but it's very, very hard to get exactly right. You will have ups and downs, which technically isn't the fault of the medication. Don't increase your dosage too quickly, happened to me a few times. BE PATIENT and RESEARCH. It will take time to get back to 'normal.' Good luck and DON'T QUIT!"

For Hashimoto's disease "I started taking NP Thyroid after Naturethroid and WP went on backorder. Didn't know it until now when I restarted WP that NP has been the cause of my hives, itching, and, of course, weight gain over the last 2 years. Restarted WP, and after 2 days, itching went away."

For Hashimoto's disease "I just started this medication today after being on actual Armour thyroid for almost a year. This medication has given me a horrible headache, calf cramps, and stomach issues and pain. I feel like absolute garbage after finally getting my TSH level at a prime level. This stuff is terrible, and the smell is absolutely horrible. Nobody asked me if I wanted the cheaper brand! Obviously, paying Armour pricing is expensive, but I would absolutely keep paying if it meant I don't feel like I do right now. This is so wrong, and it's all about quantity and NOT quality. It's a money game!"

For Hashimoto's disease "I've been on NP Thyroid for over 18 months, after having a terrible experience with Synthroid. For this entire time, it's always tasted like peanut butter. Weird, I know. After some adjustments on dosage, my levels improved continuously. Recently, it's begun tasting like ammonia, cat urine. My stomach rebels, and I cannot keep the medication down. I'm concerned about switching brands, but at this point, it's better than nothing. I'll be contacting the company and my pharmacy."
