"Being very sensitive to pharmaceuticals, my endocrinologist was okay with me taking Armour after being diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease. Since I started taking it, I felt so much better with my energy and general well-being. No side effects as far as I can tell. Hopefully, I can continue taking it till I die. I did gain a lot of weight, but I don't know if it's from my thyroid disease or the Armour. My TSH was 2.20 last blood test. Personally, I think it's the best thyroid medication out there."

"Was taking Levoxyl for 12 years and felt great. Then went into another Hashi-toxicosis so TSH increased and had severe hyperthyroid symptoms due to this. My thyroid started to normalize again on Levoxyl but my primary dr wanted me to try Armour so I did. HUGE mistake! I took it only for one week and gave me seizures with fear and extreme anxiety, depression, mood changes. TSH rapidly increased, nausea, no appetite, started feeling depressed after the very first day taking it. Even after I stopped taking it I am still dealing with the horrible side effects three months later especially the anxiety! I never had anxiety or depression or seizures prior to taking Armour. Stay away from this drug."

"I am completely happy with Armour thyroid medication which I use after oblation due to hyperactivity of my thyroid. I was on synthroid but my body wasn't able to convert T4 to T3. Once a thyroid patient you will always have slight fluctuations but overall I feel great!"

"I was on Levothyroxine for years (17). I have 7 thyroid nodules, and my physician is monitoring them closely. I begged my doctor to try Armour as I was so depressed, brain fog and felt the worst ever. I was put on 90 grains of Armour, within 6 months my tsh was .04. I was having tremors and racing heart. Apparently my body is extremely sensitive to Armour. I am now transitioning back to Synthroid/Levothyroxine and hopefully t3. Over the years your body changes (of course) - listen to your body. Everyone is different. Good luck"

"My endo told me in June of this year that armour had stopped working for her patients. I continued on it, I trusted armour it has been around forever. Big mistake. I have had inconsistent dosing that made me hypo which showed on labs and labs that showed my hyper. I had inconsistent dosing in bottles where I'd take a pill and feel fine, another hypo, another like I'd taken speed. Symptoms were terrifying, anxiety, anxiety attacks, racing heart beat, palpitations, hot flashes, irregular periods, spotting, hot flashes, migraines, dizziness, high cortisol had to be tested for cushing's negative thank goodness, high blood pressure, panic attacks, insomnia, agitation, inability to handle stress of any kind, hair fall, vision problems, nausea with the migraines, all sorts of digestive issues including food intolerances and diarrhea. I've been in fight or flight for months. I was switched to Levoxyl. My last labs on armour were normal but I had all above symptoms."

"Since 2017 I was doing very well on my NP thyroid, then May 2020 hit and all changed. No more NP so I was placed on Synthroid, then Tirosint tablet, then Tirosint SOL and finally Armour. I hesitated at first to re-try Armour because it had caused me hives back in early 2017. But this time it didn't. Even tho I started back in Sept. 2020, I have NOT been able to increase because it increases my anxiety to the point that I'm suffering attacks & chest pains. By doctor's orders I went to see a psychiatrist & therapist but my therapist states she's not convinced this anxiety IS mental but leaning more towards the Armour. Now I'm on the verge of getting a DNA test done to help see if I have any exclusive sensitivities that'll tie it all down for me. Don't get me wrong, I do like this med since it has way way less side effects .. but I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing chest pains w/it or am I exclusive???"

"I have been using Armour since 1997 or earlier. Feel much better on the Armour than Synthroid. Synthroid made me swell up with water, which btw is a side effect. I never heard so many complaints about Armour. Most who can't tolerate Synthroid do great on Armour because it has T3 and T4 in it. vs Snythroid only has T4 which has to convert in your body. Most who have hashimoto's find the T3 and T4 works for them better. Been on thyroid support groups forever. For those can't find a dr to prescribe the Armour, call the pharmacist and ask which drs prescribe it. Go to them. I tell my GP , I needed it renewed and they didn't question it."

"I switched from synthroid to armour last year and felt better for the first couple of months. I've had an on again off again scalp itch/rash that I could not figure out for the life of me. About 6 months into armour I was overwhelmed by all my sympotoms, fatigue, depression, low libido, joint pain and the scalp itch/rash just would not go away. My endo let me try a 30 day supply of Tirosint and the rash went away and I felt so much better. Just to test my theory I went back to armour after the 30 days. Very quickly I realized it was DEFINITELY the armour and I'm going back to tirosint. Armour is SO much cheaper but not worth it!"

"This medication has had the adverse affect for me. After being diagnosed with Hashimoto's, my doctor expected that this medication would help me with brain fog, energy and tiredness. I experienced the opposite. Within a few days of taking the 60 mg dosage I felt worse. I began sleeping extremely heavy, had a huge amount of trouble waking in the morning, and could barely keep my eyes open past 8:30pm each night. I gained five pounds in two months even though I had improved my eating habits and exercise. I began getting these dull headaches on the top of my head. I became extremely irritable with everything which is not my normal disposition. Dr told me to stop taking immediately and is prescribing Nature-throid. Will see how that goes."

"Synthroid did not help: zero improvement on quality of life and bad side effects. Have been through all possible medications, none helped, same story as Synthroid. Am now on Armour, 3 grains. Doesn't help at all, and gives me side effects: weight gain, hair loss, difficulty sleeping, hyperpigmentation, no patella reflex, brain fog, extreme fatigue, etc. In fact I feel better, and most of the signs/symptoms are lessened, if I take *nothing* even though my TSH is 90 and my T4 and T3 are undetectable (ie, no T3 nor T4 in my body). I overwhelmingly prefer taking nothing as that gives me the best quality of life (albeit a pretty poor quality of life). I take medication, Armour, (and suffer), only because my doctors insist that I take medication."

"NDT??? Natural Defficated Thyroid. My husband asked me why would anyone eat pig poop! He was confused with dessicated vs.defficated. So as it turns out pig pills are not so natural after all. Made my hair fall out, my urine smelled nasty and it didn't lower the TSH. I wonder where the pig thyroids come from and that is scary. People like it for awhile and then they don't like it anymore. They keep changing the formulation but remember it's still an animal and animal products vary. It's not bioidentical and that causes a problem especially with autoimmune disease. A lot of people continue to use it but its pot luck. It is impossible to monitor accurate dosing. Good luck with it!"

"It has taken me a loooong time to get back to feeling ‘normal’ after the 2020 relapses of Nature Thyroid and NP Thyroid medication recalls. When visiting Endo’s felt helpless and it all happened right before the pandemic began, the fact that Armour sold out to a different company doesn’t help me feel any better for thyroid patients around the world. HOWEVER, being that I have also tried Synthroid and Tirosint and experienced horrific side effects that wouldn’t subside, Armour IS the only medication for me left to trust. I have stuck it out thru 11 months and have finally started to find my balance. With a dash of anti-depressant on the side, of course. Here’s to hoping everyone gets to feeling better and that the big medicine investors start showing ‘some’ sort of sympathy for thyroid patients *crossed fingers*"

"I went to see an endocrinologist after my daughter told me that a co-worker of hers was hypothyroid and lost a ton of weight taking Armour. My endo told me that I had Hashimoto's and the best thing was for me to switch to Armour from Synthroid which was really what I was hoping to hear. I was so hopeful that this was finally going to be my ticket to a thinner me! :0\ During the course of 6 months I gained 20 pounds. My dosage was increased nearly every time I visited the doctor and with each increase in dosage came an increase in my weight. I went back to my primary care physician and told her my story and she put me back on Synthroid and the scales are finally moving in the other direction."

"I was DX with Hashimoto's 2 years ago, had been having a LOT of stress in my life. I have never been fatiqued, but did have weight gain, I gained 20 pds and a moon sized face.I thought that it was grief (lost husband) I am also a nurse. I was put on Synthroid 75 mcg and felt worse, hair started falling out, felt like I was in a dream all of the time, no weight loss and depression. Told my endo that I felt bad and he ignored me. Thats when I started digging into what to eat (I am already a veggiterian) taking supplements and all of this helped. I went to a F P Dr. and demanded Armour. Felt great for the first two months. I started having the fight or flight feelings. I am now hyperthyroid. Two weeks on lower dose, and have lost 15 pds."

"I have not taken Armour Thyroid, but have taken thyroid medicine for Hashimoto's since 1963. I have found that the generic equivalent of Synthroid does not work well. Sometimes it is equal to Synthroid and other times not. The last time I took generic, my TSH went up to 16. I am sticking strictly to name brand Synthroid from now on. I wonder if the people having trouble with Synthroid are really taking the generic."

"Armour Thyroid gave me an itchy rash. NP Thyroid gave me a rash too. It's nice to think this is a so called Natural medication but the fact is once it leaves the pigs body its processed. In addition, where do the pigs thyroids come from? How do we know what the pigs are fed some synthetic food product. Then processed with whatever chemicals available so the NATURAL concept is a mute point. I hope they keep making it as many people like it but I don't think its good for me."

"Dx with idiopathic hypothyroidism 45yrs ago. At 23yrs ago Dx with Hashimoto's. Is it possible to have both?! Dx depends on doc, seems random. TSH is at 50 whether taking 3 or 4 or 5 or 6++ grains (>200mg) of Armour. (Btw, Synthroid & etc are totally useless.) Also Dx with (seriously bad) Narcolepsy some 35yrs ago...Tried Lyrica about 2 yrs ago because it helps my cousin with hers. "

"I feel so much better on Armour. I was up to 180 mg then back down to 135mg over the course of 3 years and still going down, my Naturepath had me go off gluten ...something is reducing my need for more medicine... I have just recently got new insurance January it’s supposed to be covered ...we will see . I got a six month supply before switching insurance but weight is normal, sleep is great, energy good with Metamucil every day constipation not a problem even though I am optimally treated I have really high antibodies I never got those checked before I went ion armour I hope is not because of an allergy"

"I've been on Armour off and on for 10 years, and it's the only thyroid medication I've tried that helped me. I recently switched providers after a move, and they switched me to another brand that was similar but cheaper, and I wound up gaining over 10 lbs per month for 4 months and spiraling into a dangerous depression (something that happens when my thyroid gets angry). I now have several 'moderately suspicious' nodules, and finally demanded to be switched back even though Armour costs twice as much. Discount medicine doesn't help if it doesn't work. Armour all the way. Fingers crossed it'll still work after my thyroid is removed."
