"I was prescribed this after finding out I have congenital spinal stenosis and scoliosis. After being on all the usual codeines and others, this seems to work the best. The injections do help for a year, but I still need to take this daily."

"I was recently switched to Nucynta ER 100 mg three times daily after 14 years on a fentanyl patch 25 mcg every other day. I have very painful neuropathy in my feet, as well as 3 protruding discs and spinal stenosis. This drug is definitely NOT 'extended release.' After swallowing the pill, it takes about 2 hours to take effect. It provides decent pain relief but only for about 2 hours, then it quickly tapers off over the next hour so that the pain is back full force about 5 hours after swallowing the pill. I have to wait 3 long hours more before I can take another pill and then wait 2 additional hours for it to take effect. So, of the 8 hours that this so-called 'extended release' drug is supposed to work, I get 2 hours of relief and 6 hours of suffering, and this drug is marketed as a 'once every 12 hours' drug. But then again, I guess they don't actually say you get 12 hours of pain relief, they just say you take one pill every 12 hours, so that's not false advertising. Right???"

"I took it for three and a half weeks, it gives some pain relief. 200 mg per day. I prefer the hydrocodone. It made me very tired after 6 to 8 hours and affected my vision some when reading closely. Probably good for some if you don't travel much and can just stay home."

"The first dose made me somewhat woozy. However, the next 3-4 were like taking aspirin. USELESS! I am sure that this drug causes diarrhea! Also, yesterday morning I had body aches, which felt like I had the flu! It is common for most opioid users to suffer from constipation; however, I take Miralax every other day to avoid this problem."

"I have synovitis/tenosynovitis, which is a severe, rare bacterial infection in my hand. I had three operations, almost lost my hand, and it was gutted like a perch. Because of the types of antibiotics I had and still have to take, no opioids worked at all. Oxy, Norco, Percocet, nothing. Finally, my pain doc came upon Nucynta. I started out taking four 100 mg fast-acting and 400 mg of the ER. I'm now, after almost a year, down to 200 mg ER and 225 mg of fast-acting. I can't say the ER does anything at all, but the regular was a home run. It's a weird high, can be hard to walk and talk, but stay in one place and be quiet. It really helps with the pain."

"Well, today I got prescribed Nucynta. I just need to know how good it is, and plus my Dr. gave me Percocets for breakthrough. I just need to know if the Nucynta really works. I'm tired of waking up and having to take a Percocet and 2 in the morn. Please help to let me know. Thank you! :)"

"I've been taking Nucynta ER for approximately 3 years now, and it's been great. It's controlled my chronic pain fairly well. I was on long-acting morphine before switching to Nucynta ER. The reason for the switch was the morphine had lost its effectiveness. I highly recommend this medication, give it a chance to work!"

"I have a herniated disc and arachnoiditis, degenerative arthritis in the upper spine and left hip. I have had three meniscus repairs and the replacement of my left knee. I need the right knee replaced when possible. I have also had a disc fused in my neck. I am on Nucynta ER 50 mg twice a day, Percocet 7.5 mg 5 times daily, plus Soma. I am still suffering a lot of pain in the 8-9 range most of the time. I get very little sleep because of the pain and burning. The Nucynta ER helps but I need something better than the Percocet... I hate the feeling it causes. I am waiting (jumping through hoops) for the insurance to approve a nerve stimulator implant and praying it will give me at least 50% relief. I have not tried the Nucynta IR, will ask the doctor."

"I've had fibromyalgia for 16 years, degenerative disc disease, 2 failed back surgeries, and osteoarthritis. I was on Belbucca but was having a lot of pain still. I was put on Nucynta ER 150 mg. The first couple of days were okay. But after a week, my blood pressure was really high. Then I started getting hot flashes, chest tightness, coughing, and insomnia. I called my pain management, and they told me to stop taking it, but I have to wait 2 weeks for my next appointment. That's sadistic! I went to the ER, and they said I had bronchitis. The next day, I thought the bronchitis was causing my symptoms, and I was in pain, so I took a Nucynta. Nope, it's the medicine! About 30 minutes after, maybe my chest got tight and started coughing, and later got hot flashes. Not a good medicine!"

"I have a lower back injury with nerve damage that causes neuropathy and radiculopathy. I was on hydrocodone four times a day and morphine once per night, and didn't like it, so the doc put me on 150 mg of Nucynta twice a day, five years ago, and I have been able to reduce the dosage to 50 mg twice a day. I've had none of the side effects listed, which I did have with hydrocodone. For me, this is a wonder drug."

"In 31 years of chronic pain and several spine surgeries this, (100 mg 4x/day, later backed down to 75 mg, with 30 mg of morphine ER 2x/day). A couple of months ago, they took it away. Now it’s me and the small amount of diazepam and weed. I had to bring it with me when I went in for surgeries. The hospitals didn’t have it. I was lucky to get it when I did. I gather they raised the price. Great pain reliever!!! But damn expensive."

"Great for nerve damage and back pain. Actually, the ER pills didn't do the job, I took the Nucynta 100 mg every 4 hours, and that works really well."

"I have been taking Nucynta ER 200 mg for about two months. I still get breakthrough pain, but it sure helps me to get some sleep at night. I felt that I got more pain relief when I first started taking it, so now I take Endocet 10/325 mg 3 times a day and 1 Nucynta ER 200 mg at bedtime. I am still experiencing pain, I get relief from my Endocet. I find it lasts longer than the Nucynta ER 200 mg. I think my doctor might have to increase the Nucynta when I see him again next, as I am not getting the same relief from the Nucynta ER as I was in the beginning. I am tired of being in pain, I have been in pain for at least 10 years. No one knew I have two herniated discs in my upper back. I also have free-floating fragments in my spine, and I have two pinched nerves."
