For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I spent a lot of time reading this forum while I was waiting for my medication to work, and I promised myself that I would share my experience once it worked. So here's my story: I was a victim of sextortion 4 years ago. After denying/questioning it for at least a year, I have finally admitted to myself that I have Post-Traumatic Stress from this. I would experience intrusive thoughts/memories of the event, every day, all day. I felt depressed for the majority of the day, my anxiety got worse, I didn't think I'd ever get better. I was prescribed Zoloft back in December. I started out with 25mg, and worked my way up to 100mg, which happens to be the effective dose for me. Since being on the medication, I haven't been experiencing the intrusive thoughts/memories nearly as much, and when I do have memories, I don't feel so much shame. My moods have drastically improved overall. I can finally say 'I'm fine' and mean it! About a month ago, I never would've thought it to be possible."

For Depression "Coming on here to share my positive experience to add to the other great reviews that I read religiously to get me through one of the hardest times of my life. Six weeks ago, due to overcommitting and overwhelming myself for months, my depression and anxiety came back full force. I started having suicidal thoughts multiple times a day and couldn’t even go to work. I started on 50 mg of Zoloft. I’ve been on Prozac and Lexapro in the past and don’t remember either of them helping, but this has been a GAME CHANGER. It took six weeks, but I finally feel like the normal, unanxious, happy person I used to be so long ago. Do not give up on this medication!"

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was suffering from depression my entire life, and I didn't even know it. I'm 32 years old and started taking Zoloft three weeks ago. At first, I suffered from many side effects: insomnia, dizziness, nausea, blurred vision, tired feeling, and even nervousness. It was the worst 10 days of my life. After enduring those 10 days, I was able to look at life differently. I'm able to accept flaws in anything, pardon excuses, laugh with my family and friends comfortably. I can see why people thought I was high maintenance. I was horrible to my family with unrealistic standards."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "Have struggled all my life with anxiety, worked out 7 days a week to try and control it. Panic attacks-just horrible-no lifts, no planes, no tunnels. Tried CBT, finally I thought I don't want to live this way anymore. Pill-phobic, but finally I tried it, a quarter of a tablet for two weeks, then half again for two weeks. What can I say? It has changed my life completely. I love it. I feel normal! No side effects. It took three months but felt better within weeks. All of you out there undecided, unsure, afraid of what you've read-please do yourself a favor and try it-be positive about it, open and give it a go-you won't regret it. I can fly, drive, amazing."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "It took a while, but Zoloft has been a total lifesaver for me. I had severe OCD/anxiety and later on depression as well. Anyone who's ever had crippling anxiety knows what mental torture it is. I was so afraid to try Zoloft but finally gave in when I felt like I had nothing to lose. I was on 50mg and the first few days I only felt a little dizzy but nothing else. On day 11, I first noticed some kind of shift. I remember looking at a tree and for the first time in years feeling joy, like I felt as a kid, and just enjoying its beauty vs fearing getting killed by a falling branch. About 6 weeks in I felt less tense overall but still felt it could be better. Started 100mg and my anxiety is gone. I feel normal again! Please give this a try!"

For Depression "I’m 28, 106 lbs & never taken anything like this before. I went through a very bad breakup which I think led to me having a couple of mild panic attacks. After the 2nd panic attack, I saw a psychiatrist. He told me that if we could deal with my mild depression, the anxiety/panic attacks would go away. He started me on 50mg of Zoloft. I’m reading through these reviews & see that most people start on 25mg. The first few days, my panic attacks got SEVERE. I had suicidal thoughts I never had before. I was constantly tense with fear, couldn’t eat or sleep. I almost went to the hospital. I was scared to be around family or out in public. It was AWFUL. I felt paralyzed. After 7 days, I decided to stop taking it and have been in bed for the last two days. I’m already feeling SO much better, but still feel like it needs to get out of my system more. I’m very traumatized. They say things can feel worse before it gets better, but to me, that is a very dangerous game to play!"

For Depression "Zoloft was life-changing for me. For a long time, I had doubts about starting an antidepressant. I took a chance and started with Lexapro. It was okay, but I was always so tired, and I felt like something was missing. So, I went to my doctor and switched to Zoloft, and I feel like this drug helped me in so many ways! I'm no longer worried about everything, I no longer don't want to go to work or school, I'm more social and happy. Zoloft gave me back my normal life, and I'm so grateful for it. If you feel generalized anxiety or panic disorder all the time, it is not normal. If you want to take a chance and start medication, you will see that it's not as bad as everyone thinks!"

For Depression "I just wanted to say that if you find a medication that works well for you, stay on it! The mistake that I have made and others make far too often is to quit the meds once you feel better. If you feel bad before you find the right med that makes you feel better, then you should keep in mind that it is the med that's working. If it's working, stay on it. If you have been diagnosed with ADHD or Bipolar, or a combination like many have, it's probably not going away... it's there to stay. I will agree that it sucks being labeled with any mental condition, and I know it's no fun taking meds, especially meds for the head... but if they work, and you need them... stay on them! Life is short, so enjoy it as much as possible!"

For Panic Disorder "Ignore all negative comments. It stopped me from taking this medicine for two years. I was unable to work, drive, fly, function. I had panic attacks, felt exhausted all the time. I am sporty and lived for exercise, tried CBT. I am pill-phobic. My life was a mess, so I worked with a great doctor, starting very slowly. Here I am, 6 months later, and I'm a new person. No panic, just mild anxiety every now and then like normal people, but it's manageable. Please do it. It's a wonderful medicine, no side effects, and it'll change your life. Start living."

For Depression "I am 39 years old, was a new nurse and struggling with major depression. I had not been to a doctor in years and broke down crying at the first visit. Started 50 mg a day. Felt a little funny the first couple of days but now feel much better! Everyone noticed a change for the better and I even got a promotion at work! I feel so much better and have not had any side effects!"

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Zoloft has changed my life. I used to feel like I wanted to stop living. I had anxiety with racing thoughts, feeling short of breath, social anxiety, and obsessive bad thoughts. I no longer feel suicidal and my irritability has gotten 100% better. I still get short of breath sometimes and worry about things but overall just feel so much more even keeled. I waited a month before taking it after getting the prescription because I didn't want to take meds and felt like it was a cop-out. I'm so happy I decided to give it a try. I haven't gained weight and don't feel like my emotions are dulled. I feel happier and more hopeful. Strongly recommend."

For Depression "On 50mg for 4 weeks then increased to 100mg for depression, panic attacks, and obsessional thinking. I had few side effects: a slight hand tremor, yawning, and difficulty sleeping. The only thing that lingered was the insomnia, but now that has settled down and I sleep okay. I feel so much better, panic attacks gone, obsessive-compulsive disorder gone, and my mood is lifting daily. I am enjoying life again, and this medicine has been so right for me."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I started taking this drug 50mg for social anxiety and depression, and this has truly been amazing. At first, reading some of the negative reviews and not focusing on the positive ones, I was nervous about trying it, but enough was enough. For the first few weeks, yeah, there were some side effects, but they were not as severe as I thought. They went away after about a month. What this drug will do is meet you halfway and provide a better outlook on things. Do I still have anxiety at times? Of course, but it's nowhere near what it used to be. This drug will meet you halfway. It's nice going out in public and interacting with people, I didn't realize how normal it was. The meds work, but you have to want to change for you to really notice it. Hope this helps y'all."

For Depression "I have been on Zoloft and the generic sertraline on and off for many, many years, on 50 mg. Recently, I developed symptoms of depression, panic, etc., due to health issues. I have a great GP who encourages me to manage my depression, so with his agreement I increased my dose to 100 mg and suffered every symptom for weeks. Anxiety, nausea, shaking, insomnia. After 10 weeks, these symptoms have all but disappeared. After reading all the reviews, I vowed to share my experience too. Remember, the symptoms WILL go away. It may take longer for some people than others to feel better. You may feel good one day but not the next. Hang in there. It takes time. I now feel almost ready to go back to 50 mg."

For Panic Disorder "I’m a 32-year-old female that started taking Zoloft a week ago! Your comments really helped me to even start taking it, so thanks to everyone that left a review because I’m scared of medicine. I am to leave a review in hopes to help someone like me! I started on 25mg but broke it in half to get it into my system for one week, and I will move up to my 25mg. But my experience so far: I have had sleepless nights, headaches, diarrhea. I haven’t really been hungry, but y’all, don’t let that scare you like it did me. I’m telling you, even on a small dose I can tell a small adjustment already, and I will be back in another week to update y’all on the dose increase, but take a leap of faith and try it. I can already tell I’m feeling somewhat better just in a week! We are all in this together!"

For Depression "My original post was 10/2/16 - had great results immediately on 50mg daily. I am able to hold down a full-time job that I love, which was impossible prior to Zoloft. Rarely have anxiety anymore, my relationship with my husband has improved, and the constant 'internal storm' is gone. At 51, I finally feel HAPPY!!! Keep trying everyone!"

For Panic Disorder "After trying just therapy for panic disorder, major depressive, and general anxiety, I finally gave in and started taking Zoloft. THANK GOD! I haven't had a single panic attack in 5 years when at one point I was having them up to ten times a day! I have had zero side effects. I also took it through pregnancy. I'm 28 and I'm fine with taking Zoloft forever, living without anxiety is just amazing!"

For Depression "I was on Celexa for a year and it wasn't working for me. Then my doctor prescribed me Zoloft and it's my fourth day taking it, and I love it. I finally have a clear head on my shoulders. And for the first time in a long time, I don't feel depressed at all. I would highly recommend this to anyone who suffers from depression."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I have been suffering from PMDD for years. It has had a tremendous impact on my relationships. Every month around that time, I just wanted to leave my marriage. I was irritable beyond understanding and felt like punching something if I got angry. I would cry at the drop of a hat. I just wanted to be alone. I tried exercise, diet, and natural remedies, but it was never enough. I felt like I had a ball of metal in my stomach. I would scream and yell and get upset if you looked at me the wrong way. It was horrible. On Zoloft, I feel calm and stable. I have had no side effects. It has been a saving grace. My kids and husband are amazed. Thumbs up for Zoloft. It saved me."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Wish I had started this years ago! I was terrified to start medication, it was the last resort after trying natural ways to deal with PMDD for years. Every month, I'd have serious depression, anxiety, uncontrollable crying spells, and wanted to leave my family the 4 days prior to my period. As soon as my cycle started, I was completely normal. I thought it was just me until I started tracking and was diagnosed with PMDD. I resisted using medication, thinking I could handle symptoms on my own. Mistake. I started taking Zoloft only during my luteal phase, and the very first month provided relief! Since taking it, my PMDD symptoms have almost completely subsided. I have not noticed any negative side effects. I was worried about diminished sex drive but found that it has increased during the luteal phase since I'm not suffering from the effects of PMDD."

For Panic Disorder "Ok, Here I go. Thank God for Zoloft. I'm 39 and started suffering panic attacks that would last 2-3 months. I was put on a line of meds which didn't help until I was prescribed Zoloft. I started at 25mg for a week, and after day 2, my anxiety started to lift and my panic was going away. It's now been 1 year, and I have not experienced any more panic episodes or anxiety. I can't tell you enough how much it helped me. I thought I was doomed as nothing worked, and I couldn't go on feeling the way I was. I didn't want to be left alone as I felt so scared about everything. My mind was a spinning wheel of negative thoughts, and I kept spiraling deeper and deeper until I was given Zoloft."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I started with Zoloft for GAD and derealization. I started with 25mg for one week and then I upped to 50mg, but the side effects were too bad, so I went back down to 25mg. My God, the beginning was terrible! Anxiety was so much worse, feeling terrified, depressed, feeling guilt, crying, brain fog, and nausea. I lost almost 8kg in 2 weeks because I couldn't eat. My psychiatrist told me to take 0.5mg of Clonazepam until the side effects lift. After exactly 4 weeks, I can say that all the side effects are gone. I feel a bit sleepy, but I am much more calm, no anxiety at all, no guilty feeling. Derealization is still here but much less, and I don't care about her, so she will go away with time too. I went back to work and started socializing again. I take only 1/8 of Clonazepam now. I will up my dose in a few days, but slowly. I PROMISE you that the starting side effects will pass. Trust me! I know how hard it is. This is a reminder for me too if the upping brings back the side effects."

For Depression "Zoloft. You made me REALIZE, I've been locked out of HEAVEN for too long (I've been dancing and cleaning on this Bruno Mars song all morning). That's how I feel on my medication! I'm on day 4 of 50 mg and I'm supposed to increase it to 100 mg after 10 days. I have been having side effects since the first day such as shaking, abdominal pain, insomnia but nothing too major compared to what the 'Beast' (yes! I call my anxiety the beast hehe) had me endure before. So I really don't mind those side effects because I know what's ahead of me is going to be spectacular. I've never had so much faith in my life before, at least not that I remember."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "Headaches and a little nausea at the start, now 4 months in, I don't know how I coped before. The anxious 'bad butterflies' that I thought were normal have gone away. Obsessive overthinking and cringing after I got home because what I may have said, has gone away. Feeling almost hyperactive and intense when in a group situation, almost gone. Road rage... work in progress! Hahaha. Sex drive has diminished but this might be a good thing as was obsessive about it before. Less pressure. Wish I had started a lot earlier. Thought my anxiety was part of my personality, but the reality is, without it, I'm back to me again."

For Panic Disorder "Let me start out by saying THIS IS THE FIRST REVIEW I HAVE EVER WRITTEN. I felt compelled to share my story and experience with Zoloft in hopes that it helps someone else. I agonized over the decision of whether or not to go on medication for an anxiety and panic disorder that was ruining my life. I was so fearful of side effects, weight gain, increased anxiety and all the other 'what ifs'. Finally, I submitted and figured I had nothing to lose. Let me just say 4 months on 50mg of Zoloft and I am loving life. Give this medication a chance, no one was more skeptical of me, to the point that I suffered more than 2 years before finally trying it. This medication CHANGED MY LIFE and I am so happy I decided to try it."
