"I started this medication on Dec 20th, 2022, 3 mg when my doctor told me I was diabetic. I weighed 206 lbs. A1C 6.5. The first month on this, I was nauseous and felt sick. At 30 days, I told him what I felt. He said, 'I am putting you on 7 mg now. Your body will get used to it.' Here I am now, 3 months later, and I am so sick. I get nauseous still, have constipation, diarrhea, and loss of appetite, and the smell of food at times is so nasty. I am constantly feeling sick, dizziness, and I feel lightheaded, always exhausted, no energy, which scares me. My A1C is lower now, 6.1. I have pretty much stopped having sweets, carbs, or anything bad. Weight loss is out of control. My current weight is 157 lbs today when I went to the doctor. I have lost 49 lbs in 4 months. I told him I can’t take this anymore. He changed me to metformin 500 mg, let’s see how this one works. This medication hurt me more than it helped me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Rybelsus for a little over a month for PCOS and have had an overall positive experience - just started the 7 mg dose. My doctor recommended it since I am at risk for type 2 diabetes (>30 BMI, borderline high fasting glucose with a normal A1C, and signs of insulin resistance from PCOS). I get some pretty extreme nausea whenever I eat junk food (fatty and/or sugary), but otherwise feel good. I'm hoping that the nausea I do get helps instill better long-term eating habits. I've also experienced appetite suppression, which has helped me prioritize proteins and vegetables. I did get alternating bouts of constipation and diarrhea when starting this medicine and am expecting that I'll experience the same with the dose increase. I have felt far more energy, and my cravings for junk food have drastically reduced. So far, I've lost slightly more than 10 lbs and am shooting for another 50 to help get my PCOS under control."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was on Rybelsus as an add-on for my A1C control. This medication was okay at the 3 mg dose…for 2 weeks. Then when the dose was increased to 7 mg, I was nauseous every day, vomiting 4-5 times per week. I couldn’t eat, the mere thought of food or smell of food made me vomit. I ruined a day of vacation at Disney because I threw up 8 times in a 2-hour time span from this medication. It even began to interfere with my job (I’m a nurse-I can’t be throwing up multiple times a day). My A1C increased from 7.2 to 9.6 while on the medication, and I gained 8 pounds. I stopped taking it while waiting for my appointment with my provider, and I already feel 1,000 times better. I’m glad this medicine has worked for others, but I definitely don’t recommend."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I took 3 mg for 2 months and then started the 7 mg. The 3 mg I had heartburn, nausea, some diarrhea. Was uncomfortable but doable. But once on 7 mg, I had the same symptoms plus vomiting, constipation to the point of hemorrhoids, and severe heartburn to the point I almost went to the ER. I got out the label on this medicine, Rybelsus, and relooked up side effects symptoms on the computer. I immediately stopped on my own, messaging my doctor. Within 2 days, I felt so much better. This medicine is costly too, luckily I had insurance because I will not use this and it had to be disposed of. $ wasted."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Was on 3 mg Rybelsus for a month. Nauseous all the time. After a month, went on to 7 mg for a month. Nauseous all the time. After a month, moved on to 14 mg. Nauseous all the time... This drug is awful."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started with the 3 mg. Within a week, my bowel movements became loose. Other than that, it was fine. Started the 7 mg after a month. Within a week, I was nauseated constantly, along with diarrhea. The nausea got worse, and diarrhea continued. At three weeks, I had to stop taking it. The very next day, nausea stopped, and I have normal bowel movements again. I do not recommend this medication. Also, vomiting was a relief a few times."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on the 3 mg dose and felt a bit nauseous and had a sore stomach, but it was manageable. Now going on to the 7 mg, but I am on a low GI diet as well, and this combination has helped bring my blood sugar levels down. I have problems with food addiction, and the drug helps curb the cravings by lowering my appetite. So far, I only have positive feedback about Rybelsus."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Well, I am on month 2 of Rybelsus and on the 2nd week of 7 mg. I posted my experience last month as well. I am 20 lbs overweight and pre-diabetic for many years. Diabetes runs in my family. I am 60 years old, active, and healthy otherwise. Unfortunately, I do not experience much of anything toward my goal of weight loss. I am slightly nauseous at times. I am constipated. I am not on any other diabetic medication. I weigh 1 lb less, but this could be attributed to a margin of error. I am planning to continue using this medication and see what happens once I am on 14 mg. Considering all the potential serious side effects (thyroid cancer, pancreatitis, and more), this needs to give anyone better results. I believe that people respond differently to everything, so great for those who do well on Rybelsus. See you next time with better news. Stay safe."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Took 3.5 mg for one month, increased to 7 mg for 2 nights before getting nauseous and experiencing drastic muscle weakness. Hopefully, the muscle weakness will improve soon - I can barely open a water bottle today. It was successful for weight loss in that time. I'd rather open my own water bottle though."

"I've been on Rybelsus for about 6 weeks now and am up to the 7 mg dose. I was placed on it to help lose PCOS-induced weight gain. It took about a month to get used to (minor vomiting, nausea, constipation, and diarrhea during the adjustment). I've lost almost 15 lbs, my anxiety levels have plummeted, and my skin is the clearest it's been in ages. I no longer have sugar or processed carb cravings, which I think is helping all of this. I'm lucky that my insurance is fully covering the medication since it is pricey."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking 3 mg for almost a month now and not really any symptoms. I think I got nauseous one time, and that was it. I also take a vitamin D twice a week with it and have been fine. I was given the medication due to having high insulin and weight loss and will start 7 mg next week. Can’t wait to see how that goes."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Had to stop taking 7 mg after 10 days. I tried to stick it out as I had hoped my body would adapt. I first started on 3 mg and was able to tolerate, no problem. When I started on 7 mg I noticed my appetite was gone right away. I'm overweight (maybe 30 pounds), so I was happy about that. I was also nauseous and dizzy. I even threw up with blood one morning. I've only been able to eat crackers and very bland things. After 10 days, I gave up. Now I've been off the 7 mg for 4 days and am still so nauseous and weak. I can't wait for this feeling to be gone. Hoping there is no permanent damage to anything in my body. So sad that I didn't have the great experiences so many people have written about."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was initially hesitant to try this drug, but after taking it every other day for the first month, I started taking it daily once I started the 7 mg, and it has worked wonders for my A1C. It went from a high of 6.8 to 5.7 in a couple of months. My glucose number was 83. First time it was under 100 on my blood test. Although I did experience some nausea at first, that seemed to go away. I always try to eat something 30 to 45 minutes after taking my dose in the morning. Food portions are very small, which has led to a weight loss of almost 20 lbs. So far, very happy with the results."

"I started using Rybelsus in October of 2023. My starting dosage was 3 mg, and then raised to 7 mg about 4 months later. I have encountered redness, hives, and itching on my calves, scaly skin, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, cramping, and dizziness. Most of those symptoms have gone away. I take it each morning alone and do not take anything else for at least 30 minutes. When I get to work, an hour later, I take my heart and blood pressure medicine (for Afib). I gained a lot of weight for multiple reasons. The main reason was because of depression and chronic back disease. I just had lower back fusion, which has stopped my back pain. This means I can exercise now without severe pain. The good news: since I have been taking Rybelsus, I have lost 70 pounds. I now weigh 330, and by January 1, 2025, I want to be 299. It works, but does have side effects. The key is using it as directed and learning to eat smaller, healthier food portions."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Find it difficult to take as it makes me quite nauseous. I have been taking it at 12 noon one hour before my lunch. I started off taking it at 3 a.m. when I usually awaken for a visit to the loo, and this lowered my blood glucose very well in the early morning, but then I was not getting enough sleep. However, I could not cope with the side effects and stopped taking it. Since reintroducing it, my morning glucose readings have been in the region of 12-15 mmol/l, which is not great. However, I am on 7mg of Rybelsus. I cannot drink more than 2 glasses of wine, which is good. Also, it has reduced my appetite substantially, which is also good, and I lost 3 kg in weight when I started taking it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started with Rybelsus 3 mg and had mild nausea, then the doctor moved me up to 7 mg after 30 days, and I lost 10 lbs. Still feel nauseated from time to time, definitely a change in my appetite. I walk 2 miles a day and do sit-ups, but don't really have to, the weight comes off with the meds. After reaching out-of-pocket max with Medicare, the medicine cost $230.00 a month. What happened to senior discounts? Where are some coupons? Money vs. health?"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Ok, this stuff works... maybe too well. I felt like my stomach was full all the time. Eating could bring on nausea (i.e., dry heaves, yuck). There was a surprise with 'Mild depression.' I just don't want to do much of anything. I didn't recognize this for a long while but after I saw a discussion of this on a newscast, bingo, that's me. Constipation... yeah... pretty severe at first but thank God for laxatives."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on this medication in December. It immediately lowered my blood sugar, however, it made me very nauseous and have a loss of appetite. It is now February, and I have lost 15 lbs. I still don’t have much of an appetite these days. I find eating very light meals 2x a day helps a lot. Trying to stick with it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on Rybelsus 3 mg, after a month, my doctor increased it to 7 mg. Like most people, I had to plan my morning so I had time to take it well before breakfast to lessen the sickness. I had serious nausea, sickness, and weight loss (28 lb), my glucose, kidney function, and cholesterol all improved, and I was very pleased. Two years in, and I had to stop taking it. I had developed piles the size of golf balls (never had those before), my anus and perineum constantly itched, as well as under my breasts and armpits. It was so uncomfortable, driving me mad, so I reduced it back down to 3 mg to see if it eased the symptoms, and it did. I stopped it completely in January, and it has taken until now (August) for the piles and itching to completely go. I have put some of the weight back on, and my glucose levels are up again. There are other medications, but they too have some horrible side effects, just be careful what you start. I am waiting to see what else my doctor can offer with fewer side effects."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Been on Rybelsus 3 mg for 16 days. Sugars have improved somewhat already, and weight down about 5 pounds, unexpected. BUT, no appetite, stomach feels full all the time, hard to even drink enough water each day because stomach so uncomfortable. Constipation that is not very responsive to Miralax. Cold hands. Some nausea. More heartburn than usual. Increased fatigue. And the worst is: dizziness and/or vertigo and a feeling of weird fullness in my head along with tinnitus. What the heck? Given the high cost, and that I've all these effects even before going on the 7 mg dosage, I don't think it's worth it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started with the 3 mg, then 7 mg, and the fireworks started with the 14 mg. I started taking it the Saturday before Easter. The Tuesday after Easter, I started with diarrhea for about a week. My doctor said I may have diverticulitis and gave me an antibiotic. The diarrhea stopped for 2 weeks, then came back with a vengeance, and it brought vomiting and nausea with it. Like clockwork, every 4 days, the diarrhea would kick it off, followed by the nausea, and then the crescendo of puking my guts out. Then repeat 4 days later. I stopped taking it on a Monday, and that Friday got sick again. I read that it could take 4 to 5 weeks to get it out. It’s now 5 days, and I feel good finally. I did work on lowering my A1C, I think. I also changed my diet and started with a lot more exercise, and so far, things are good. I would avoid taking Semaglutide if possible. It didn’t work for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have only been on Rybelsus for 9 days. It’s horrible! I’m nauseous and dry heaving every morning. And now for the last two mornings, 15 minutes after taking it, my throat is burning. I also have nodules in my thyroid, and this medication is known to cause thyroid nodules and cancer of the thyroid. I don’t know why my doctor thought this medication was good for me. I’m going off."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've had diabetes for 15 years, and these tablets are the worst thing I've ever taken. I've been on them for weeks because there's an extremely annoying shortage of Ozempic (I don't like needles, but I can't wait to go back to it). I'm constantly nauseous and often vomit randomly. I'm told by my nurse that it's not as effective as Ozempic either. And now I have slight retinopathy, which has never happened in 15 years."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Rybelsus 3 mg for 3 months. I am 46 (5'4') with a starting weight of 272 and A1c of 6.9. Now (9 months later) I weigh 255, and my A1c is 5.7. I had been taking Metformin prior to Rybelsus, and it was horrible for my stomach. The first couple of days on Rybelsus, I had few side effects, I had to avoid any fatty foods as they made me nauseous. For the first month, my appetite was small, and I had no desire to eat. After that first month, my appetite was back, and I didn't see the benefits in the drug for weight loss. Also, until diagnosed with diabetes, I was not active at all! I struggled to complete small physical tasks. I began walking 3 to 6 miles, 4 to 6 times a week, which I feel has benefited me along with medications. One huge plus for me taking Rybelsus is that I no longer struggle with my IBS. I have for YEARS (20+). Starting 7 mg this week and hoping it helps curb my appetite more than the 3 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "User, I followed the prescribed regimen of 3mg daily for two months, taking the pill with minimal water between 5 and 8 AM. However, I experienced persistent nausea, burping with a peculiar taste, and a sharp decline in appetite, particularly for sweets. I lost around 10-12 lbs and struggled to drink water, feeling as if my throat was constricted at times. This led to dehydration and widespread body cramps. Trying Gatorade alleviated the issue temporarily, but the discomfort persisted. Upgrading to 7mg exacerbated the symptoms, causing extreme fatigue, body aches, and lightheadedness. I stopped three pills short of completing the 30-day dose to restore my well-being. In total, I've shed 19 lbs."
