For GERD "It's 2:05 a.m. I'm tired, but I do not want to go to sleep. I fell asleep, and 30 minutes later, getting up to go to the bathroom, I realized my body was pulsing a lot more. I have started having panic attacks, but it's been 2 months. And I have taken Zantac before, so the fact that as soon as they prescribed me Zantac again, I start having panic attacks out of my sleep, I wonder if when I was taking it before, if that was the reason I was having them a lot more often, because tonight was so uncomfortable. I fell asleep fine, but woke up dizzy, nauseous, shaky, heart racing, mouth, tongue, and throat feeling swollen. Everybody's body reacts differently, I see. But some have the same symptoms as me."

Ranitidine for GERD "Horrible side effects. My mouth and tongue swelled up. Difficulty swallowing, which is why the doctor prescribed it for me in the first place. He said it was a symptom of 'silent' acid reflux. Found a rash on my leg. Heart palpitations and massive stomach aches. Didn't do a thing for reflux or the belching and burping it was supposed to cure."

Ranitidine "My condition is allergic swelling of throat, hive, lips, tongue, eyelid, hive over entire body. Zantac + Zyrtec has been the ONLY thing that has allowed me to even live. Without it, I'm in the hospital every other month for prednisone shots. I've used every allergy medicine on the pharmacy shelf and some that are not on there anymore over the last 40 years, and I don't know how I will SURVIVE without the Ranitidine/Zantac if it is kept off the market."

For Laryngopharyngeal Reflux "I am extremely sensitive to all medications. If there is a side effect, I will get it and usually refrain from taking anything other than the furosemide and potassium chloride I have been on for many years to control my idiopathic pitting edema. However, I suffered vocal cord injury (dysphonia), dysphagia, as well as laryngospasm after using Symbicort 160 for only 5 days. I was referred to an ENT who thought I had LPR (I do not) and prescribed ranitidine 300 once a day and omeprazole. I will not take the omeprazole, but this AM took one 300 mg capsule of ranitidine as prescribed. 5 hours later, I have marked pitting edema in both legs. My legs were not at all swollen this morning but are severely swollen now (at least 1/2 inch pitting in each leg). There can be no other explanation than the capsule of ranitidine I took this morning. Needless to say, I will NOT be taking this drug again."

Ranitidine for Indigestion "This was prescribed to me as an H2 antihistamine blocker. Took it in the morning and had a bad allergic reaction, a painful swollen face within minutes."
