For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I can't poop. Laxatives, stool softeners, Amitiza, Linzess, every other drug you can think of either worked a few times and just stopped. I had high hopes for Motegrity. I took Motegrity three times, just to be sure my symptoms were actually caused by the drug. Motegrity produced a bowel movement for me within a day of taking the drug, each time. My third bowel movement on Motegrity was a bloodbath. Anyway, within 15 minutes of taking the drug, each time, my stomach severely bloated. As time passed, my abdomen would hurt even more and horribly burn-if anyone has ever had bowel obstructions or intussusceptions, the pain and burning felt like this. Then began the migraine, nausea, and vomiting/dry heaving. My abdomen felt as if I was getting lit on fire and ripped to shreds; screaming pain. Of course, I felt the need to take this godforsaken drug two more times, you know, just to be sure-as if the first round of torture wasn't enough. Now I have bloody stools."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have some pretty severe constipation issues, along with a tortuous colon and some other digestive issues (removed gallbladder, food allergies, etc.). I’ve tried Trulance (didn’t work), Linzess (worked at first but not consistently), along with other OTC methods such as stool softeners and Miralax. It gets bad though, where I have to use an enema to make things move. Since I was still having issues with a complete natural BM, my GI doctor wanted to try Motegrity to “give that extra push.” Within an hour of taking this, I was doubled up in the bathroom with the worst case of vomiting/dry heaving and diarrhea-reminds me of when I had severe food poisoning. I was sweating, head felt tingling and spinning. Y’all, I lost 5 pounds. While I appreciate the cleanout, I will not be taking another dose of this. Btw… this reaction is surprising to me since it took almost a full day for the colonoscopy cleanse to go into effect."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "This medication made me sick as heck! My GI told me to try it, and wow, my stomach is still having cramps on and off! I was vomiting, sweating, and cramping all at once! That’s alright, I’ll stick to Linzess."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Have SIBO, Crohn's, gastroparesis, and have been on Trulance for years with minimal help. My doctor put me on Motegrity. I took one pill last night, within 2 hours, I was in agony and then violently vomiting. It's the next day, and I feel horrible. I am so upset because I was praying it would work. I am so bummed."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I don't really suffer from constipation, but I have trouble emptying my bowels completely. Dr. prescribed Motegrity. I took it 3 days in a row. I didn't have the headache, vomiting, or other severe side effects described by other people, but I'm not going to continue taking it. I'm glad I was home the whole time. There was no warning about when it would kick in, and all of a sudden I had to rush into the bathroom. I didn't have a normal bowel movement. It gave me diarrhea, to the extent that I was just passing liquid at the end that I could not eliminate completely. So it seems that this medication is effective for some, but not everyone."
