For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Motegrity is the ONLY treatment that has worked for my chronic idiopathic constipation. Before Motegrity, I was on Amitiza, Linzess, Trulance (no response to any of them), plus every OTC option you could think of, every diet, test, etc. With Motegrity, I have BMs 4/7 days a week which is a vast improvement from my previous quality of life. I will say the first week I had significant side effects. Expect the first 24-48 hours especially to be full of diarrhea, abdominal cramping, sweats. But stick it out! After that first week I have not had a single side effect in over a year of taking 2mg per day."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have had problems with constipation most of my adult life. I know I should drink more water, but love to drink diet coke! My gastro doctor put me on Linzess originally. I had really bad diarrhea and then it stopped working. He then put me on Motegrity. My God, what a difference. I go almost every day, sometimes more than once. I added taking a stool softener and now have no problems with pain or having a complete BM. I do have occasional gas, but it passes easily. I finally feel normal again! At first, my insurance company denied paying for Motegrity, but I appealed the decision and they gave it to me for $155 for a 90-day supply. I gladly pay this for not having the bloating and pain I would endure."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Tried Motegrity and got a horrible headache/migraine, major fatigue (had to take a nap to sleep off the pounding headache), and diarrhea. Not impressed whatsoever. Tired of GI doctors handing out pills like candy, not once has my GI asked me about my diet. I’m switching doctors, this one just doesn’t get it!"

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "It works!!! First day I took it, I did have a migraine. Following days I got lucky and no migraine. I actually have solid bowel movements and go 2-3x a day. I take it early in the morning. I tried Linzess and Trulance, which caused bloating and watery diarrhea, and I couldn’t leave my house for 4-6 hours. Some days it wouldn’t work and caused more bloating. I highly suggest giving Motegrity a try. It saved me."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I took Motegrity one day, and I barely made it through the day. Started with diarrhea and extreme bloating and stomach pains. Then started getting dizzy and head hurting. By that night, I had a pounding headache, could barely stand, running to the bathroom-dizziness-it was awful. I felt so sick I almost went to the ER. Day two, and I still have a lingering headache and diarrhea, stomach pains, and extreme bloating. Never taking this pill again. I must mention I have also tried Linzess and also experienced extreme bloating and diarrhea, but none of these other symptoms."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I have some pretty severe constipation issues, along with a tortuous colon and some other digestive issues (removed gallbladder, food allergies, etc.). I’ve tried Trulance (didn’t work), Linzess (worked at first but not consistently), along with other OTC methods such as stool softeners and Miralax. It gets bad though, where I have to use an enema to make things move. Since I was still having issues with a complete natural BM, my GI doctor wanted to try Motegrity to “give that extra push.” Within an hour of taking this, I was doubled up in the bathroom with the worst case of vomiting/dry heaving and diarrhea-reminds me of when I had severe food poisoning. I was sweating, head felt tingling and spinning. Y’all, I lost 5 pounds. While I appreciate the cleanout, I will not be taking another dose of this. Btw… this reaction is surprising to me since it took almost a full day for the colonoscopy cleanse to go into effect."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I had a free trial (7 pills) from my GI doctor. I'd never afford this because it's $300 without insurance a month. I took a quarter of a pill for several days of constipation and stomach burning. Within 30 min, I had diarrhea with solids. I haven't had loose stools in over a year, and I was actually pleased not to give birth for once. I didn't have worse cramps than I was already having, and I didn't get a headache like others warned. I only weigh 120 lb, and I saw others say they had better success with smaller doses. I can say this medicine works way better than OTC stool softeners I've used if you need an immediate BM."

"This drug works great for about 6 months. I started out with a quarter of a pill and got up to 4 mg, the largest dose. You have to keep increasing the dosage, your body gets used to it. After that, there's no place else to go. I am trying to wean off of it. I was also on Linzess, which caused me to have diarrhea to clean up every day. I weaned myself off that. I also stopped Miralax. It made my stool soupy, gassy, and stinky. Now, I am taking bacillus coagulans. You will have to work on the dosage. I am aiming for one to two billion with each dose. If I take more, I am on the toilet all day. I've also decided to try magnesium oxide again. They say 500 mg at bedtime, but I'm going to start with 250. Because of all the additives in pills, I chose Now powdered magnesium oxide on Amazon. If you're going down the same road I am, I'm really sorry for you. I hope you find something that works for you."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I don't really suffer from constipation, but I have trouble emptying my bowels completely. Dr. prescribed Motegrity. I took it 3 days in a row. I didn't have the headache, vomiting, or other severe side effects described by other people, but I'm not going to continue taking it. I'm glad I was home the whole time. There was no warning about when it would kick in, and all of a sudden I had to rush into the bathroom. I didn't have a normal bowel movement. It gave me diarrhea, to the extent that I was just passing liquid at the end that I could not eliminate completely. So it seems that this medication is effective for some, but not everyone."

For Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I was on Linzess for several months. It completely took away the abdominal pain, and for several weeks, I had severe diarrhea. Then, it settled down, and things seemed to improve, but a month later, I was having maybe 1 bowel movement a month. I switched to Motegrity, it's been 2 weeks of misery. Headaches every day, abdominal pain, and bowel movements are more frequent but painful. I'm so disappointed. I will stick it out for a while longer and hope it improves."
