Prochlorperazine for Psychosis "Was seen in the ER for a terrible migraine. I have been seen in this ER a few times for really bad migraines, and I've always been given Toradol/Phenergan, which had always worked. Well, this time my doctor says screw what works and gave me some 'migraine cocktail' with Compazine and Benadryl. About 2 minutes later, I was absolutely losing my mind! I felt like my skin was crawling off my body! I couldn't sit still, I just wanted to be out of my skin! I had ripped my blood pressure cuff and oxygen off and was punching the wall and jumping up and down! I've never acted like this before and have never, ever, ever had anything like this happen! I seriously would have run out into traffic if it meant that I would not feel like this anymore! Finally, a nurse comes in and gives me Ativan, which alleviates my psychosis."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "Was given this medicine through an IV with a cocktail of other drugs to treat my headache because I got a concussion and was in the ER. Gave me a severe panic attack, I woke up crying and wailing, wanting to rip the IV out of my arm. I could not sleep, felt as if I was suffocating and could not breathe or get enough air. That night I went home, I could not sleep without severe anxiety and my heart racing like crazy. Still felt as if I could not breathe. Woke up this morning and felt the same but not as severe. Could not sit still and felt extremely restless or do anything normal and have been looking up to see if these symptoms are normal and am not surprised to see that many other people experience this too with Compazine. I don't know when I will go back to normal, but STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRUG."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I took this medication in a 5 mg tablet for nausea and dizziness. Really worked - no nausea or dizziness and felt fine. Had a couple aches in my arms, but meh, beats feeling sick and dizzy. The medication did what it's supposed to, and this is coming from a hypochondriac himself who experiences side effects on almost everything. Take it, it might work for you."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Background info: I have a long medical history of generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks. This medication caused the worst mental and physical distress I’ve experienced in my entire life. I am not exaggerating; this was beyond any panic attack I’ve ever had, almost to the point that “panic” doesn’t suffice to explain what I felt. Every muscle in my body was tense and cramped, to the point that I wanted to crawl out of my skin. My stomach was clenched, and despite this being an anti-emetic, I felt like vomiting. I could not sit still or get comfortable, and I ended up pacing like a lunatic for hours. I felt horribly self-conscious and emotionally distraught, and I truly wished that these terrible feelings would end. Please, stay far away from this medication! Even if you’re not an anxious person, don’t risk it. I’ve been through some horrible things in my life, but the feelings that Compazine caused me are very near the top of the list."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "Went to the ER for a headache along with depression and was given Compazine through an IV and has been feeling detached from reality ever since last year in November. Anybody else feels this way after taking this medicine, and what do I need to do to get back to normal? All I do is cry and wonder why the doctors didn't warn me before taking this."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed this prochlorperazine as I suffer migraines to the point of uncontrollable vomiting. Side effect from meningitis when I was 15 years old. I have ADHD, Asperger's, social anxiety. Ex-party drug user too. No side effects except a dry mouth. I feel a lot of these comments talk about it being administered via IV, which would hit your system like a catapult. No thanks. I took tablets and can’t say a bad thing. Nausea gone super quick, and overall I feel this drug works wonders but not if you’re not aware of your incoming anxiety/triggers, etc. I know when my anxiety flares on and off medications. I had one moment of a mopey feeling, but I recognized it and altered what I was doing so my thought process improved. Learn how your body works properly; and therefore most prescribed medications can work in your favor. Doctors are doctors for reasons."

For Anxiety "So... I suffer real bad with anxiety. And I mean real bad. The smallest change/bad thought can set off horrific nausea and vomiting at any given moment. (I’m a prison nurse, so this doesn’t work well in my favor at all). The only thing that worked for me was prochlorperazine 3mg buccal tablets prescribed by my GP. I CANNOT EXPRESS WHAT A BREATH OF FRESH AIR THESE ARE!!! My anxiety can last days/weeks at a time, causing massive weight loss. Within an hour of taking these, my nausea, vomiting, and any anxious thoughts are gone. These may not work for everyone, but for me at 27 years old, I’ve finally found my medication!!!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I have migraines, vomiting, gallbladder issues. I was asked if I wanted Zofran or Compazine. I asked a little bit about side effects, and the nurse said it's for migraines, vomiting, put in my IV. Fifteen minutes later, like the room got dark, and I couldn't stay still. Thirty minutes later, I called my mom crying, telling her I'm dying, there is no way I'm coming back from the hospital. Many times I was about to rip the IV out, pacing the hospital bed with the IV cord on me. I felt the oncoming sense of doom, somewhat dismembered my IV on my arm. At one point, I was about to rip the IV out, had no ride home an hour away from home. I was going to run out of the room into the streets, zero below. I got a nurse and she said, 'Yeah, the medicine can do that to people, have reactions.' Benadryl, reverse it, it took thirty more minutes for them to bring Benadryl in. About ten minutes, I finally dozed off. But I still couldn't stop moving, walking around and nervous panic. I had gotten released, I had to get Benadryl from the store to keep it reversed for 24 hours. Worst, dangerous drug. I will never take an unknown medication again."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed this med in pill form for nausea from my chemotherapy as a backup in case Zofran did not work. Because Zofran caused me constipation, I asked my care team if I could use the Compazine as the first defense. They said go ahead and try it. While taking this med, I didn't want to sleep, didn't want to be awake, couldn't sit, couldn't stand, or wait in line, had to pace back and forth to stop myself from doing something drastic. I snapped at loved ones because I was so desperate. I felt fear, dread, and paranoia. At first, I thought it was the chemotherapy I was on that was causing all these things, but I finally figured out it was the Compazine. You snap out of the horrible side effects about 12 to 24 hours after taking your last dose. It feels like you are breaking a fever and finally feel more relaxed and relieved. I stopped taking it. Hoping this review will be helpful for those on chemo. Sometimes with all the drugs we take, it's hard to pinpoint which one is the culprit."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "They gave me this medication via IV in the ER for a very intense migraine and extreme nausea. I would never recommend this medication to anyone, ever. The second it was pushed through, I started having an extreme panic attack, something like I have never felt before, like a huge wave of doom rushed over me. I started freaking out so badly I almost ripped my IV out and ran away. It was so traumatizing to me that they pushed a big dose of Ativan through my IV just to knock me out. I truly thought I was dying... And after all that, it felt like my skin was crawling for a good 32 hours. No, thank you. Never again will I allow this in my body."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "Everyone on here. I know exactly what you experienced, it's a gruesome condition called akathisia. And the doctors know about it. But they will not tell you! It is a serious side effect. Because people can't stand the way they feel with akathisia. Please join the akathisia group on Facebook. There is help and support if you're still suffering."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Compazine is chemically similar to Thorazine, both of which can cause extreme and sometimes dangerous reactions in people who have a risk of serotonin syndrome or sensitivities. I personally experienced rage reactions to Compazine when it was used to treat nausea from migraines."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Y'all, my experience was exactly like so many others. I was having dizzy spells for over a week and then suddenly had the world's worst headache, so I went in. They gave me Toradol and Compazine through an IV, and within ten minutes, I thought I was going insane. I asked to go to the bathroom just to get out of the room. I couldn't sit still and felt so panicked. On my way back from the bathroom, I seriously considered ripping out my IV. When the nurse came in, I stopped my fluids and went home. Had to sign a paper that I was refusing treatment, but I couldn't be in that room any longer."

It's horrible! I wish they would've told me before they put it in me through IV! If anyone please knows what to do to fall back into reality, please share."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "Went to the ER with a headache and was given an IV with Benadryl and Compazine. IMMEDIATELY I began to have a panic attack. The only way I can describe it is like being buried alive. I was so tired but coming out of my skin. Worst feeling of my life and now going to the hospital and regular routine appointments give me anxiety. I’m afraid of getting shots and taking medicines. My life has not been the same since getting that IV. I don’t understand how this drug could be used to treat anxiety."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER with a migraine and nausea/vomiting. I saw the doctor, and then the nurse brought a medication into my room, Compazine. Then they wheeled me over to get a CT scan. That’s when things went all bad. Sitting there in the hallway on the gurney, I began having this overwhelming feeling of anxiety/panic! The problem was my body felt like I couldn’t move, like there was a disconnect from my mind and my body. After the CT scan, I was back in the room. All I could think about was when I could get out of that ED and when those feelings of anxiety would stop! It was literally the worst feeling in the world, so hard to describe, but I have never felt so uncomfortable and anxious, yet unable to do anything about it. I wanted to rip out my IV and run out of there ASAP! It took an entire 3 DAYS before I started to feel “normal” again! It was torture. Worst experience. Never, ever take Compazine if you can avoid it. I now have Compazine listed as an allergy."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "This medication gave me the worst experience of my life. It made me sleepy, yes. But at the same time, it sped up my mental discomfort, and it made my muscles jump. Similar to restless leg syndrome, but throughout my entire body. It was so bad they had to reverse it with Benadryl to alleviate the symptoms, and finally they gave me a mixture of Valium and Demerol to put me in a twilight state until it passed. If you have any medication allergies, even mild, I would strongly advise against this medication."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I know all drugs come with side effects, but please listen to me and other people on here. I was given Compazine one time in February of 2019 for vomiting. I experienced graphic, really dark thoughts, hallucinations, akathisia, tinnitus, panic attacks, brain zaps, a feeling of bugs crawling under my skin, paranoia, and at one point a complete inability to feel joy. I am still not myself, and it is now July. There is nothing any doctor can do for you once this medication messes you up. I was a normal wife, mother, and employee, and some days now I can’t take care of myself, let alone my family. This drug has ruined my life, and it was one dose for something as simple as nausea. There are much safer alternatives for nausea and vomiting."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "I went in to ER for a migraine and was given this. Immediately, a rash developed on my arm, and I felt like I was going crazy! I felt as if someone was trying to kill me, and I had to get out of that room! I NEVER had anxiety in my life. I didn’t realize that is what caused it until my 2nd ER visit, months later, the same thing happened. Did some research and spoke to my doctor and was told it was the Compazine! It is now listed as an allergy in my chart. I felt like I was full-blown psychotic! Lasted for a couple of days until I felt normal again. This med should be recalled!"

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "So I was given this in an ER to treat status migrainosus, and it made me go insane. I couldn’t sit still, I wanted to leave. More than wanted, I NEEDED to leave. I couldn’t stand it. I wanted to rip out my IV, but I didn’t. I bit as hard as I could into my arm until I broke the skin, that’s how crazy I went. I had to tell the nurse that it was a 'love bite' so they didn’t lock me up for self-harm. They subsequently gave me some Ativan and Benadryl to calm me down, and that fixed the problem. Well, after a few doses anyway. I will NEVER touch Compazine ever again."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Went to ER for a migraine I could not control. Was given Compazine by IV. Instantly felt like I was crawling out of my skin, couldn't sit still. Went home, and a few hours later ended back at the ER due to uncontrollable body movements. When I got there, the doctor told me it was dystonia, which is a side effect reaction from the medication Compazine, which is irreversible. It has been almost 7 months since this day, and I still have uncontrollable muscle movements and severe anxiety. Please do not take this drug, my life has been hell ever since."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went into the ER for a really bad migraine and vomiting. They gave me Benadryl and Compazine. Within three minutes, I had the worst panic attack of my life. My anxiety was through the roof. I unhooked myself from everything that I could and tried to get my IV out and demanded that I be let go, thinking I would feel better when I got home. I have not slept in over 24 hours. I'm now on day 2, and I still want to crawl out of my skin. I can't stop shaking and crying. I want to crawl out of my skin or run away to get away from this feeling. I'm also shaky, and anytime I think I'm about to fall asleep, I get weird sadistic images that wake me up right away before I'm even all the way asleep. I don't know why this drug is legal. I hope people read these reviews and please don't let any doctor give you this medication-the worst feeling of my life."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Compazine IV in the ER (which I work at the hospital) for a severe migraine. Not much later after I started getting horrible sensations in my head. And creepy crawly all over. Couldn't communicate. Couldn't walk straight. And no one noticed this! I was too sick to even realize it was the Compazine at the time. I had no idea it is in the Thorazine family! Now I'm marked as having an allergy to Compazine. Nightmare!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed Compazine in 1989 for severe morning sickness during the fourth month of my second pregnancy. By the third day, I was rushed to the hospital because my chin locked over my left shoulder, my tongue hung out of my mouth, impeding my speech, the muscles in my eyes froze, keeping me from blinking. My five-year-old got home from school and found me drooling on myself, grunting because I could not speak. Good thing I'd taught her how to call 911. Shortly, an ambulance drove up and rushed me to the emergency room. They thought I'd had a stroke. Luckily, I had the vial of Compazine in my purse. Needless to say, my son was born with neurological issues, which have lasted a lifetime."
