Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was in the ER due to a severe migraine that couldn’t be controlled with my prescriptions that I usually take. They gave me Compazine for the nausea/vomiting. It was the most awful thing ever. I became so restless. I felt like I had to leave and go home. I couldn’t sit still, and I felt like I constantly needed to pace the room. I felt like I was going crazy, and like I was about to rip my hair out. (I didn’t.) I will avoid this medicine at all costs. I don’t even know if it helped the nausea/vomiting because it made me feel so weird."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I am nine weeks pregnant, and I went into the hospital last night with severe nausea and vomiting. I hadn’t eaten anything for almost 3 days and was down 5 pounds. I was having a migraine from dehydration, and they gave me IV Compazine, and within four minutes, I was feeling like I wanted to step out of my own body. I had severe anxiety, I felt like I wanted to rip out my IV and run home as fast as I could. I had this overwhelming sense of being so unbelievably uncomfortable that I couldn’t close my eyes because I was so panicky and so shaky, so uncomfortable I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. I will absolutely never take this medication again. It’s been almost 24 hours since that medication was given to me, and I’m just now starting to feel back to my old self again. Needless to say, I’m on Zofran now for my nausea, and you couldn’t pay me to take Compazine again."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Worse experience ever. I had been experiencing morning sickness and vomiting while pregnant and had gone to the ER. I had been given Compazine through an IV along with some fluids. Within a short amount of time, I felt awful, a tremendous amount of anxiety came over me where I could not relax or even think to the point of functioning. Felt like jumping out of my body. There must be some legal consequences and responsibility behind this medication and what it has caused. No one should have to go through this, nor do I think it’s safe for anyone, especially while pregnant."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was in the hospital suffering from post-lumbar puncture headache and nausea/severe vomiting. IV Zofran did nothing, IV Reglan did nothing, only the IV Compazine gave me relief. Granted, as soon as it ran out, I started up again, but at least it allowed me a few hours of peace to sleep."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the hospital due to a severe migraine and nausea. I was given Compazine via I.V. Oh dear! I immediately began having chattering teeth, severe anxiety, and uncontrollable clenching of teeth. I also could not remain still, as if I wanted to get out of there as fast as I could. I called the nurse in, and the response was, 'Oh, yeah, you feel kinda outta it?' Well, yes, it will pass, don't worry! ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW! It's just by the grace of God that I got home safely. My teeth continued to chatter, and I could not sit still! I had to go back to the ER to get medicine to counter the side effects. I feel a little better now. Day 2 and still feel out of it. I WILL NEVER TAKE Compazine again!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I took this for my extreme amount of nausea causing anxiety. It did wonders for my nausea! It was wonderful and like a miracle. Until the third time I took it... I had the worst experience of my life. My jaw got locked and stuck to one side, my eyes got locked looking upwards, and I couldn't move them. My jaw felt as if it was trying to break itself and was so painful. I ended up sticking my finger down my throat to make myself vomit up the drug. It continued to lock my jaw up off and on for the next 48 hours. Never again. Be careful of the side effects. Worked wonders for my nausea and vomiting, but I would rather be throwing up than experience those side effects."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Was given Compazine for the first time in the ER. It was mixed in a cocktail for my headache. After 3 minutes, I started feeling uneasy, and I started to have a full panic attack. I’ve never felt that in my life! I ripped my IV out of my arm and started kicking the walls and stomping, they thought I was insane! I told them it was the medicine, they didn’t do anything, just released me, and I felt like my skin was crawling for 3 days. Was the absolute worst experience of my whole life!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I wish I could give this drug 0/10 stars. This is not a drug that I would give to my worst enemy-and I have tried many drugs for migraines! I was given this with the migraine cocktail in the ER, which also includes Benadryl and Toradol. I experienced extreme anxiety and restlessness. I wanted to rip the IV out of my arm and run out of the hospital... not that I could have done this anyway because it caused me to have extrapyramidal and dystonic side effects! When I got discharged from the ER, this was the worst night of my life. My friend had to sleep over because I was freaking out. The side effects lasted for 2 days."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "This medication does help out a lot when you have nausea. I have taken a lot of different medications before, and this is the first one in seven years that has actually worked for me. The only side effect that I get from it is being tired after taking it, but it is so much better than being sick to my stomach."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I suffer from occasional vomiting from acid indigestion brought on by major anxiety. I take Protonix daily for indigestion and also Buspar for anxiety, which has helped drastically. However, sometimes the anxiety is so extreme I will still get nausea and vomiting. That's when I go to my trusted friend Compazine. It lasts well past 8 hours and gives me time to relax and calm my anxiety (which is near impossible to do while you are throwing up stomach acid every few minutes...). I have also been prescribed Zofran, which also works very well but is a lot more expensive. I have not experienced any side effects with either medicine. Compazine has saved me more than a few times when I have an appointment I can't afford to miss and that I am anxious over."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have anxiety, but I was prescribed this medication for my vertigo and sickness problem I randomly have ATM, and I’m so dizzy. But after taking these, I feel better. I then read that it can help with anxiety, and my panic attacks have been so bad I just wanted them to stop. So I started taking the medication for anxiety, and I haven't had an attack in 2 days, really. But I’m reading all these reviews, and now I’m scared to take it because my panic attacks got worse. I have no idea what I would do, to be honest. Not sure if I should carry on taking them if they give you permanent damage anxiety-wise."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Worst medication! About 9 years ago, when I was in high school, I caught mono and was vomiting a few times when my mother took me to an ER/urgent care. They gave me an IV with Compazine and a prescription for home. It wasn't until maybe the second day I couldn't move my muscles. I had ZERO movement in my body and could barely walk or get dressed. Nothing. I constantly shook like I was having a seizure. I couldn't sleep for an entire week! Let alone sit still. It was constant anxiety. It's like I lost all ability to relax. It was a living hell. When I went back to the urgent care, the lady literally told me it was mono. I went home and continued to take this medication, not knowing I had a severe allergic reaction. Finally, I went back again and got a doctor who actually knew what was going on! He told me to stop taking Compazine ASAP. People get PERMANENT damage from this! It took over a month for this to leave my system, and until this day, the anxiety is still there."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Do NOT use Compazine!! I went to the ER for a severe migraine that lasted a week. They put me on Compazine, and within just a few minutes, I was shaking uncontrollably, couldn’t keep still, and had extreme anxiety, like if I didn’t leave the hospital RIGHT AWAY, my entire life would just go down the toilet. This was the only time I ever ripped out an IV. I called the nurse in, and I could only mumble “Oh God, what did you do to me” over and over again. After some of these other reviews, I count myself lucky that my symptoms only lasted a single night and the migraine did go away. But still, I will never take it again!"

For Anxiety "I was put on this for labyrinthitis, which was making me super anxious as I was so disoriented and nauseous. It helped with all those things, didn't realize how much until I forgot a pill and felt super anxious and awful. Staying on it until further notice!!!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER with nausea, they gave me Compazine immediately. I felt hot and restless. I freaked out, they moved me from the hallway to a room where I became restless and angry. My jaw locked up, and I was shaking uncontrollably. My heart raced, and I felt like I was gonna die. My symptoms lessened after about 8 hours, where I slept off and on. I went to a different ER, and they gave me a small dose of Ativan, but it didn’t make me feel any better. The next day, I still feel panicky, and my heart feels weird, and the shaking comes and goes. I also have horrible diarrhea. Worst experience of my life."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I've had three OHS (open heart surgeries), so I've had my fair share of IV medicine. NOTHING, and I repeat, absolutely nothing I have taken has made me feel as awful as this did. Five minutes after receiving the dose of Compazine, I started getting restless, like I wanted to crawl out of my skin. I complained about how uncomfortable I truly was, and the doctor just said, 'Oh yeah, that happens.' Please don't take this, it may have helped my pain. But here I am, 19 hours later, still feeling like complete garbage. I honestly wish I would have read these reviews first."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I get severe nausea from IBS and anxiety, the only thing that has helped is prochlorperazine 5 mg! Don't be scared by these reviews, 95% of the bad reviews are talking about IV/injection prochlorperazine, which clearly reacts very differently to the much lower pill dose. Within 30 minutes, all of my nausea and most of my anxiety disappear, and it doesn't make me sleepy or dizzy either - unless I take more than one pill or take it with other medications that cause drowsiness. I never review medications, but I had to show that not everyone has a bad experience with this med."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "It’s so sad that these doctors don’t care about us like they should. I went to the ER today because I was having debilitating pressure in the middle of my head. Now I was already messed up when I got there, and I already suffer from severe anxiety, and then they turned around and gave me Compazine in my IV. I literally felt like I was dying, I could not be still, I could not sit down, I didn’t know what to do, my body almost couldn’t handle this medication, and the reason for giving this was because I had a headache. No... people, please do not ever take this drug at all, it does not help you, it hurts you. I’m still sleepy from taking this, and it was 10 a.m., now it’s 9 p.m. where I am. Do not take this drug."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "It is absolutely horrible. I went into the ER yesterday with a bad headache on one side. They wanted to give me some cocktail that included Compazine and Benadryl combined. I said no. I should have done my research on Compazine prior to getting it intravenously. The worst mistake of my life. I had shakes, anxiety, which I don't have, the worst dry mouth of my life, that I almost choked on my sugar pill. I felt like it had been out in the desert for a year. I could not keep my mouth moist fast enough. It has been almost 24 hours, and I'm still not back to 100 percent yet. That drug is toxic. I would never, I don't care how much pain I'm in, ever take that drug."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Was prescribed this for an ongoing condition of vertigo to help with the nausea. I took two pills, and it gave me the worst anxiety I have ever experienced. It felt like I wasn’t even in my own body. I lost my appetite for about a week, my heart rate was through the roof, and it was a struggle to breathe properly. I’m only 20 years old, and it took me a good month to recover fully from this drug. Whilst my vertigo had gone the next day, the side effects were so much worse than the original problem."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "It has been a little over six months since I was given Compazine through my IV when I had a migraine, and I am still not right. It’s important to note that prior to the injection, I have never had any problems with mental health besides intermittent anxiety (mild). I went to the ER for a severe migraine that had been lasting a few days. I was given Compazine through my IV for the pain. I immediately had the worst panic attack of my life. I can’t even compare it to other panic attacks I’ve had because it was profoundly horrific. Wanting to escape, suicidal thoughts, terror, wanting to rip the IV out of my arm, and extreme restlessness. I have had debilitating anxiety ever since. After reading many of the reviews, I see most people feel better after a few days, but that hasn’t been the case for me. I have now been struggling with never feeling at peace or comfort. I can no longer feel love, happiness, joy, or even experience laughter. I walked out of that hospital a different person. Please avoid."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER last night with nausea and vomiting. I was given Zofran, but it had soon worn off. I told the doctor, and he said he would give me something else. The nurse came in with the Compazine. She gave it to me through my IV. Within minutes, I started to feel really jittery and restless! I started to become anxious and fidgety, and I wanted to rip my IV out of my arm. The medicine worked for the nausea, but it's definitely not worth the side effects! It was the worst feeling ever!!! It has been 21 hours since, and I still don't feel right. The symptoms have calmed down a lot, but I'm still not 100%."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I have been given Compazine in my IV, and it was one of the most horrible experiences of my life! It almost immediately made me very anxious, I wanted to pull my IV out and just get out of the hospital! I felt zombie-like, and my face went numb. I had side effects like these for about 3 days! Never again will I take Compazine!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was suffering from unexplained nausea for about a year. I tried a host of other anti-nausea medications, but nothing really seemed to be helping. My doctor gave me Compazine, which helped my nausea but made me exhausted by the evening and caused me to burst into tears at least once a day. I stopped taking the medication because the side effects were too much for me to handle."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Please don’t take this medication. They gave it to me through IV as a part of their useless “migraine cocktail,” which needs to be discontinued in and of itself. Needless to say, within 10 seconds, I was hot, sweaty, agitated - ready to pull the IV out, and I’ve had RLS before, this was a tad worse. The pure akathisia felt like hell. Then they gave me this as opposed to stronger meds because they were worried about me driving, but hell - if only they knew that this was more dangerous to drive with, maybe they would have reconsidered. This stuff makes you feel depersonalized, more sick, helplessly “under” (the best way I can put it), and the only way out is TIME. Benzos make it more tolerable (slightly). I’m on day two afterward, and I feel fortunate that I’m about 75 percent “back” from whatever hellish trip that was. It’s now on my allergy list. Lawsuit!"
