Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "Just got out of the ER with my daughter. She got the 'migraine cocktail' with Compazine as well. She became irritable at the hospital and just wanted to leave. They finally discharged her, and she started feeling nauseous on the way home. Has been vomiting for an hour now and full of anxiety. She's begging for it 'to just stop.' Nothing online for a counter agent. I am annoyed because my wife mentioned the drug gave her lockjaw as a child, but the doctor said drug allergies/reactions are not hereditary. And he also never mentioned any side effects until we got home and called back to find out if she needed to return. It may work for some people, but be wary. My family is no longer taking it. Two strikes and you are out."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Background info: I have a long medical history of generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks. This medication caused the worst mental and physical distress I’ve experienced in my entire life. I am not exaggerating; this was beyond any panic attack I’ve ever had, almost to the point that “panic” doesn’t suffice to explain what I felt. Every muscle in my body was tense and cramped, to the point that I wanted to crawl out of my skin. My stomach was clenched, and despite this being an anti-emetic, I felt like vomiting. I could not sit still or get comfortable, and I ended up pacing like a lunatic for hours. I felt horribly self-conscious and emotionally distraught, and I truly wished that these terrible feelings would end. Please, stay far away from this medication! Even if you’re not an anxious person, don’t risk it. I’ve been through some horrible things in my life, but the feelings that Compazine caused me are very near the top of the list."

For Anxiety "So... I suffer real bad with anxiety. And I mean real bad. The smallest change/bad thought can set off horrific nausea and vomiting at any given moment. (I’m a prison nurse, so this doesn’t work well in my favor at all). The only thing that worked for me was prochlorperazine 3mg buccal tablets prescribed by my GP. I CANNOT EXPRESS WHAT A BREATH OF FRESH AIR THESE ARE!!! My anxiety can last days/weeks at a time, causing massive weight loss. Within an hour of taking these, my nausea, vomiting, and any anxious thoughts are gone. These may not work for everyone, but for me at 27 years old, I’ve finally found my medication!!!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I have migraines, vomiting, gallbladder issues. I was asked if I wanted Zofran or Compazine. I asked a little bit about side effects, and the nurse said it's for migraines, vomiting, put in my IV. Fifteen minutes later, like the room got dark, and I couldn't stay still. Thirty minutes later, I called my mom crying, telling her I'm dying, there is no way I'm coming back from the hospital. Many times I was about to rip the IV out, pacing the hospital bed with the IV cord on me. I felt the oncoming sense of doom, somewhat dismembered my IV on my arm. At one point, I was about to rip the IV out, had no ride home an hour away from home. I was going to run out of the room into the streets, zero below. I got a nurse and she said, 'Yeah, the medicine can do that to people, have reactions.' Benadryl, reverse it, it took thirty more minutes for them to bring Benadryl in. About ten minutes, I finally dozed off. But I still couldn't stop moving, walking around and nervous panic. I had gotten released, I had to get Benadryl from the store to keep it reversed for 24 hours. Worst, dangerous drug. I will never take an unknown medication again."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I used it after a surgery when the anti-nausea patch wasn't working well enough. I took off the patch, used the suppository, and had no more nausea. Used it again after several hours of vomiting and diarrhea due to assumed food poisoning. It was BAD (vomiting every 20 minutes). Then I remembered I had a leftover suppository. Used it and didn't throw up once afterwards. I was able to go to sleep and woke up hours later when my fever had passed."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was born with chronic pancreatitis and chronic migraines, so vomiting is a for sure thing every time I visit the ER. I have never in my life been traumatized by a medication until this encounter. It is like we are their lab rats, you feel helpless, insane, delusional, 51-50, a psychopath. You literally feel trapped inside your body, if that makes any sense. I try to hold my composure off this medication because it literally makes you crazy. It should be illegal for them to inject you with it without a warning on the side effects. You feel so weird for 3 days, it’s as if your innocence has been robbed from you, a form of violation."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was in the ER due to a severe migraine that couldn’t be controlled with my prescriptions that I usually take. They gave me Compazine for the nausea/vomiting. It was the most awful thing ever. I became so restless. I felt like I had to leave and go home. I couldn’t sit still, and I felt like I constantly needed to pace the room. I felt like I was going crazy, and like I was about to rip my hair out. (I didn’t.) I will avoid this medicine at all costs. I don’t even know if it helped the nausea/vomiting because it made me feel so weird."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I am nine weeks pregnant, and I went into the hospital last night with severe nausea and vomiting. I hadn’t eaten anything for almost 3 days and was down 5 pounds. I was having a migraine from dehydration, and they gave me IV Compazine, and within four minutes, I was feeling like I wanted to step out of my own body. I had severe anxiety, I felt like I wanted to rip out my IV and run home as fast as I could. I had this overwhelming sense of being so unbelievably uncomfortable that I couldn’t close my eyes because I was so panicky and so shaky, so uncomfortable I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. I will absolutely never take this medication again. It’s been almost 24 hours since that medication was given to me, and I’m just now starting to feel back to my old self again. Needless to say, I’m on Zofran now for my nausea, and you couldn’t pay me to take Compazine again."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was in the hospital suffering from post-lumbar puncture headache and nausea/severe vomiting. IV Zofran did nothing, IV Reglan did nothing, only the IV Compazine gave me relief. Granted, as soon as it ran out, I started up again, but at least it allowed me a few hours of peace to sleep."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Worst medication! About 9 years ago, when I was in high school, I caught mono and was vomiting a few times when my mother took me to an ER/urgent care. They gave me an IV with Compazine and a prescription for home. It wasn't until maybe the second day I couldn't move my muscles. I had ZERO movement in my body and could barely walk or get dressed. Nothing. I constantly shook like I was having a seizure. I couldn't sleep for an entire week! Let alone sit still. It was constant anxiety. It's like I lost all ability to relax. It was a living hell. When I went back to the urgent care, the lady literally told me it was mono. I went home and continued to take this medication, not knowing I had a severe allergic reaction. Finally, I went back again and got a doctor who actually knew what was going on! He told me to stop taking Compazine ASAP. People get PERMANENT damage from this! It took over a month for this to leave my system, and until this day, the anxiety is still there."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Compazine through the IV for nausea and vomiting while admitted. It was an absolute nightmare that still makes me feel pure fear when I think about it. I thought I was going to die. At first, my legs just felt restless, which I thought I was just having some anxiety, but then it really hit. I couldn't get my body to cool down, I started vomiting, then lost control of my bowels in front of the nurses. This lasted over six hours until they finally gave me something that knocked me out until it was over. I thought I was going to die. It scared both my partner, who was there, and myself to the point that I am now scared to take any more medications, fearing a similar reaction. They should really warn people about this drug."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I got two aural migraines in one day. I had never had nausea before from migraines, but all of a sudden, I had nausea, dizziness, vomiting, etc. My mum ran out to the chemist and got me these pills. Within half an hour, I was feeling so much better, it was unbelievable. It was my 21st party that night, and these pills saved me from missing out on the whole evening! I've also taken one tonight to help with nausea and dizziness from new antidepressants, and it has worked a charm."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was given Compazine for nausea and vomiting when I was having monthly (girls) problems, which almost always included throwing up with pain. Violent spasms, like tetany lockjaw. I did thousands of dollars of damage to my teeth, and my whole jaw was crooked for days after. But doctors all told me it was 'stress,' all in my head, not the meds. One time when I was in the hospital and they gave me Compazine by injection, it started within a few minutes, yup, it was the Compazine. Also, have to be careful with other meds that may contain it. I had Tigan, which worked pretty well, but is no longer made. Last time, the doctor gave me Zofran, but I had a tough time getting the insurance to approve it, as they wanted to give me the cheaper Compazine generics. Be very, very careful, as I have had a few pharmacists tell me some other meds were not related, only to find out that they were. Be sure to do your homework and double, triple check what is in what."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER when I was experiencing headaches and vomiting due to a new medication I was put on. The doctors gave me Compazine, Toradol, and Benadryl through my IV. After a few minutes, I experienced the worst feelings of my life. I was thrown into a huge panic attack, I couldn't sit still, my heart rate rose to over 130. I had to stay in the hospital for 5 extra hours just to get my heart rate to return to normal. It took 24+ hours for the initial panic feeling to go away, and now going on 48 hours, my head still feels all foggy and I get dizzy when I stand up for long periods of time. I hope I return to normal soon, and I would not recommend this medication to anyone!!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "Reading the effects some folks have had brings me right back to 1993. I was 2 months pregnant with my son, who is now 23. I was vomiting so badly and was given Compazine as a suppository. It worked wonders for the first 2 days. My 3rd day was a trip to HELL! I was on the phone with my mom, and my words started slurring. I then started having uncontrollable muscle spasms in my face. My upper and lower jaw started moving in opposite directions so severely that I had to hold my face in place, screaming in pain! My husband had to rush me to the ER in the middle of a snowstorm. It was a horrific experience, and I cannot believe that this drug still exists! I was told that Compazine is used as a component in other drugs, BEWARE!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I had extreme nausea from an assumed stomach virus, and while I still had some nausea, I felt better, and it took away the feeling of having to vomit. So, minus some diarrhea associated with that stomach bug, I didn't have any vomiting, and my nausea eased up."

Prochlorperazine for Anxiety "Couldn't stop a migraine due to spinal stenosis. Went into ER and my blood pressure was super high. They gave me Compazine to help stop nausea and vomiting. It felt like I wanted to jump out of bed. Lasts a few days where it's just a really bad anxious feeling I had never had before. I never want to experience that again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was admitted to the ER for a car wreck. I was given this drug for nausea and vomiting through an IV. I was released from the ER. Three minutes after being released, I had a panic attack. I went home, took a shower, and began to have really dark thoughts. My husband and I returned to the ER, where I was admitted. Well, it has been three months later, and I am still not back to my normal self. I have visited three doctors, and they have diagnosed me with anxiety, and I am currently taking Buspirone. I have never had a history of anxiety until I was given this medication. My life has been a living hell since the administration of this drug. I can't concentrate, have constant thoughts about death, and am always crying. I was living a happy and normal life before this. Please do not take this medication!! Any suggestions?"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed these by my doctor due to awful morning sickness in my pregnancy. The second tablet I took, I started feeling absolutely awful! They made me worse - I was sweating while I was freezing, my whole body ached, I was gagging, and I literally was sobbing. I felt so uncontrollably ill I was close to booking myself into the hospital! Stay away from these, they’re awful. I can’t believe I was prescribed these after reading the awful reviews."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Terrible drug. Was given morphine through IV pump while in the hospital for a broken femur, and it made me extremely sick with nausea and vomiting. I was given Compazine and immediately had a bad reaction. I felt like my skin was on fire and began hallucinating that I saw demons crawling on the ceiling. I have no history of any kind of mental illness. The nurses were completely disgusted with me pleading for help and ignored me. I suffered through 6 hours of hell before it finally wore off enough so I could sleep. I would rather vomit than go through that again!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "Had an extremely bad case of labyrinthitis (inflammation of the labyrinth), lost all balance and couldn't stand up. I was vomiting and my eyesight went, everything was spinning, so scary. They put me on Stemetil and steroids in the ER, and after 24 hours, I finally felt human again and had stopped vomiting. This drug worked wonders for me."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I've had Compazine a few times due to suffering from severe migraines. It's never pleasant, but I was trying to make it to a shift at work, so I asked if I could have the migraine cocktail without whatever makes you so tired (Benadryl). I quickly learned this was a huge mistake. After they put this in my IV, I started shaking uncontrollably and could barely stay in bed. The shaking and spasms quickly became painful, and it did not help with the nausea at all because I threw up a few minutes after receiving it. I had pressed the call nurse button before the vomiting and asked for literally anything to stop whatever was happening. They gave me some Benadryl through the IV, which did help somewhat, however, I'm sure it was just because they gave me enough to knock me out. My review doesn't even come close to describing how God awful this medication actually is. If you're ever offered this for nausea, ask for something else or just throw up, I promise it's better than taking this."

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I was sent to the ER by my GP on Tuesday this week for an irregular ECG. I was feeling completely fine with just a small amount of dizziness. My doctor decided to give me prochlorperazine (Compazine) through my IV. Within 15 minutes, I started to lose my patience. My body started to shake involuntarily. I was becoming aggressive towards my poor partner, who couldn’t understand what was happening. My anxiety was awful!! I begged the nurse to stop the fluids, but she said she was following doctors' orders. I’m 19 years old. It’s been 3 days, and within the first 2 hours, I had vomited, involuntary shakes, high heart rate, and drowsiness. On the second day, I felt better, I had just a bit of a sore stomach from vomiting the day before. And now, on the third day, I’ve been vomiting all afternoon, involuntary shakes, and a tight chest stopping sleep. I’ve been obsessed with reading reviews to find answers to when this will end!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I went to the ER with sunstroke. I was vomiting, a massive headache, and stomach pain. I became quite out of it and was moaning and in and out of consciousness. My mum called an ambulance, and they gave me a needle with a nausea medication (I can't remember the name), but it worked well, and the nausea started to disappear, but I was so exhausted I was still out of it. Once I got to the hospital, the ambulance men told the doctors what they gave me, but the nurse still decided to give me something else. She put in an IV of what I thought was just fluids, but I was wrong. My heart started to race, and I became anxious. I started shaking and had a massive anxiety attack wanting to rip my IV out. It didn't go away for 3 days!! DON'T HAVE THIS DRUG!!"

Prochlorperazine for Nausea/Vomiting "I received Compazine via IV in the hospital for vomiting. Within 20 minutes, I was pulling off my clothes, my heart was racing, and I was having suicidal thoughts. I was legitimately in a full-blown psychotic attack, which has never happened before. Hours later, I still felt jittery, anxious, and could not sit still. I will NEVER take this medication again. It stopped my vomiting; however, I’d rather vomit than experience psychosis. Worst experience ever. Never again."
