For Schizoaffective Disorder "I've been on Invega Sustenna for about 6 months. I feel like a zombie. I have no emotions, I feel flat. I have no motivation to do anything. I sleep 11 to 12 hours a night. I feel very tired all the time, and I have anhedonia (lack of pleasure). Don't take this medication. It will steal your soul. You won't want to do anything. I would rather have my symptoms than be on this. I'm going to talk to my doctor about getting off this."

For Schizophrenia "I have been on Invega for 5 months now, and it has significantly improved my quality of living. Prior to the shot, I was on numerous antipsychotics and would begin to stop taking the pills and go into relapse with symptoms. I'm not on the shot, and auditory and visual hallucinations and paranoia have decreased dramatically. I like that it is a monthly shot, and it cuts down on remembering (or wanting) to take a pill once or twice a day."

For Schizophrenia "I've been on this med, Invega, for years. Without it, I was suicidal and often hurt myself. With this med, I'm happy again and have no desire to cause harm to myself. Only side effects are weight gain and long sleep."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "This medication gave me a chemical lobotomy. Turned me into a zombie for 3 months, and after I recovered from going cold turkey, I got crippling anhedonia permanently from it. I consistently contemplate suicide now. Thanks for nothing..."

For Schizophrenia "So I've been on this medication since 2014. Diagnosed with schizophrenia back in 2011 when I told doctors I was visited by spirits at a young age. They didn't believe me, though I swear on my life it is true. Anyway, I was on 150 mg. Had the worst side effects you could imagine. Very high prolactin levels, lactating from my breasts, amenorrhea, absolutely no motivation at all, pretty much glued to my bed & phone. So they adjusted my dose twice, and now I am feeling a bit better. Not a lot better, though I would say. They say that a schizophrenia diagnosis is something you deal with for life, so I would be careful what you tell your doctors. You could be on medication for life."

For Schizophrenia "When I was on the 75 mg injection, I wouldn’t stop gaining weight, my weight went from 104 lbs to 136 lbs and was increasing with crazy hunger. I had bad acne from this medication, no period, couldn’t work out, went to bed at 6:00 pm, lost my internal voice, couldn’t think at all. They dropped me down to 50 mg, and the weight persisted. They then spaced out my injection to five weeks apart, and I dropped some weight but not enough to be proud of. I’m around 120 lbs, still don’t have a period, have crazy hunger, no internal voice, can’t perform like I used to, have puffy eyelids, one drooping eyelid, can’t use my imagination, bad memory, can’t lose weight, don’t sleep at night, and the side effects keep piling up. It has taken away my voices during the day and my delusions."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I am Kenny. I have schizoaffective bipolar type, and I am a 26-year-old male. When I first started this drug 4 months ago, I was 360 lbs. Now, I am 300 lbs, so I lost 60 lbs (due to not being depressed and working out). I haven't noticed any bad side effects of this drug. My mood is cheerful, my sex drive is what it should be at my age, and I don't have ED. It's very hard, on this drug, to slip into psychosis for me. It keeps me grounded. I'm absolutely afraid of what my life would be like without it."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "Wow, this is like a miracle for me. More free space in my head than ever before, easy to think straight, increased motivation to look after myself, no paranoia. Overall, I have found this fantastic. Was on Seroquel and have lost a few kgs already since swapping to Invega! Yay."

For Schizophrenia "Both my brother and I have been on Invega for schizophrenia, and it seems to have no effect on either of us. My brother for at least a month, and I for more than 3 years. It is not getting rid of the hallucinations or paranoid delusions. We take it to keep our parents happy."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I have MDD with psychotic features, and I've been on this med, Invega Sustenna, for 4 months. I've gained a lot of weight, feel numb, feel dumb, feel like my life is now one big act, like I'm a puppet that doesn't really have any emotions because I don't feel good or bad, and I just act and do what I feel should be the norm although I don't feel anything. Hope that makes sense... I don't always feel that way, sometimes I feel my normal positive self, but for the most part, that is the case. It has stopped hallucinations, visual/auditory and tactile. I don't know how to make an informed decision on this med :/ I'm 50/50."

For Schizophrenia "I checked myself into the hospital for being severely underweight, dehydrated, and malnourished (I have suffered from anorexia nervosa for a long time). Instead of giving me medical attention, the staff at the hospital took my blood and urine, and quickly received a court order to take Invega and to be in inpatient treatment. My blood pressure seemed to keep declining. If you think 80/40 blood pressure is alarming, you are right. The nurses who were making a ton of money off of me did not care. My blood pressure got as low as 70/26 in the hospital, where people are supposed to be receiving care. This is a very traumatic experience for me, and I really just want to live straightedge and abstinent (no sex, drugs, drinking, or smoking)."

For Schizophrenia "Took 100 mg of the paliperidone drug (European dosing) when I was psychotic and, for 1 year (same dose, later added 20 mg Zyprexa), while the psychosis had gone, delusions and hallucinations persisted the entire time. Also, it raised my prolactin level to rocketing levels (2000 mIU/L). Although it kept me away from psychosis, there are better alternatives for the disease."

For Schizophrenia "My wife has suffered from late-onset schizophrenia with severe positive symptoms for over 10 years. She started Invega Sustenna treatment (monthly injection) a year ago and has made dramatic improvements. All of her positive symptoms have gone away. Residual negative symptoms remain but are now manageable with talk therapy. The injection method helps with compliance, as daily pills are difficult to maintain and easy to discontinue. This is a wonder drug..."

For Schizophrenia "Cleans the mind of weird thoughts, delusions, and hallucinations. Weight gain has been noted, as well as a general feeling of restlessness and drowsiness. I'm always on slow motion and need to think things twice or three times. Still better than having conversations with dead people or thinking my brain can see in the future... by the way, don't try quitting this drug cold turkey. It's a recipe for disaster."

For Schizophrenia "I've been off this med for three years, and I've never recovered my sex drive. I have permanent erectile dysfunction. I'm unable to feel love, happiness, joy, or excitement. I can't even cry. Oh, and it also made me infertile. My semen is completely clear, and I did a semen analysis, and my levels are incredibly low."

For Schizophrenia "Have been on Invega inj. for 2 months. Most hallucinations, auditory, visual, and mental gone. Has been a game changer for me as my life was completely unmanageable before. Still not leaving home much and have gained a few pounds, nothing too drastic, but it beats having conversations with people only I can see and not having a choice about it. Also, my insurance wouldn't cover it, it's about $2000 USD for 1 month inj. Thanks, hope this helps."

For Schizophrenia "Invega is working great on auditory symptoms, and no lethargy noted. I have noted some of the adverse side effects after the first dose: sudden weight gain, indigestion, pain at the injection site, and sore throat. In addition to these, there has been increasing facial and abdominal bloating. I am concerned, but there is no other medicine I am aware of at this time, and the doctor feels the benefit outweighs the side effects."

For Schizophrenia "Taking this drug Invega Sustenna helped a bit with my schizophrenia symptoms. The side effects, on the other hand, were something else. I was significantly slowed down both mentally and physically. I did lose about 5 pounds and lost interest in food, most probably due to feeling really depressed about my condition. I also couldn’t stop walking about, I couldn’t sit still anywhere for up to 2 minutes. I also had abnormal muscle movements, my vision became really bad and blurry, and I was drowsy all the time, especially after taking a dose."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I had to take Invega Sustenna after running away from being treated 5 times. It helps eliminate the delusions and voices. I love it as it does not make me believe that the king's son is in love with me, or Adam Sandler is talking to me through every thought with another person in my head and sharing tips for his movies while looking at an image. But I hate the fact that it has a weight gain effect that has muscle constraints. Feeling happy through space is barely not there... natural life is much better... and keeping all the craziness of schizophrenia is way more interesting than waking up."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "I have been on this medication over a year now, and it has done wonderful things for me. Before I was on it, I had my first episode and was in and out of the hospital 4 times in 5 months, trying different medications and being unstable. Now I'm going back to school, and I have no symptoms. Side effects are minimal: a little tired the day or two after the shot, and I've gained 15 pounds or so-not too bad. This medication gave me my life back. I just hope my new insurance will cover it."

For Schizophrenia "I found this medication to cause side effects of swaying while standing up and sometimes rocking back and forth while sitting down. Because this is taken monthly, I am on 150 mg, towards the end of the month, I became unwell and psychotic symptoms reoccurred. Delusional thoughts mainly. I am now going to try Abilify and hope I don't have bad side effects, but I know that without my medication, I would relapse."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "Yeah, it controlled my hallucinations, but at what cost? This drug should not be prescribed to anyone, especially young males. Literal chemical castration. Invega robbed me of my erections, sex drive, and sperm. When I ejaculate, nothing comes out. High prolactin and low T levels. My memory is awful, with no pleasure in doing anything at all. Restlessness, brain fog, no thoughts or emotions. This injection will leave you bedridden. Literally, all I do is lay down and hope for the day to pass by fast nowadays. My depression got a lot worse on this drug. Stay far away."

For Schizophrenia "Invega Sustenna was difficult at first. I felt very tired and would get headaches. I believe this was my body adjusting. After a few months, and now on the drug for a few years, I have had a great experience. I still have symptoms once in a while, but not as bad. With the education I was given before taking the drug for my first time, I am now well aware of what a 'symptom' is. I am prepared. The drug Invega Sustenna has only improved my thoughts, speech, and dialect. As I would hear voices, preventing me from speaking clearly, Invega Sustenna has given me the ability to articulate my sentences. When I am ready, I will take either oral tablets or a 3-month injection. I think this will only help my limitations that I keep private. I no longer have headaches. I am no longer fatigued. I am in a good position, and I am proud of the person I am becoming."

For Schizophrenia "I was first almost forced to take this as an injection at the Mental Health Center. I have been on it for some time but notice it causes way too much anxiety and feeling that I'm afraid of myself. I'm not sure if I was ever supposed to take this at all."

"I think this medicine is awesome! I've personally struggled with hearing voices since age 17 and visions since age 20. I have been on psychotropic medications since age 14, all different types. From age 19, I have been taking the Risperdal Consta injection until 2 months ago when I started the Invega Sustenna injection. The voices and visions are completely gone. And, I'm a lot more alert than I was on the Risperdal Consta injection."
