Oxycodone for Pain "After a series of operations on my lower back, the nerve scarring caused chronic pain. After being prescribed one pain medication after another, I was finally referred to a pain specialist. In 2000, I was put onto OxyContin at 30 mg twice a day. After less than 3 months, I suffered very bad withdrawal symptoms after missing the morning dose. The pain during those hours seemed to increase tenfold. By 2003, the dose had increased to 60 mg three times a day. I have now been taking OxyContin for 9 years. I still have breakthrough pain that keeps me from most activities, and my heart and lungs have been affected. I would like to stop taking the medication but have bad withdrawals."

Oxycodone for Chronic Pain "So for me, there are only three pain meds that actually work for me, literally!! Roxicodone is one of them. I like Roxicodone because it seems to work somewhat fast, however, this go-round I have noticed some major inconsistencies, and I am presuming it has everything to do with my migraine meds. For one day, the Roxi will work in 30 minutes, and then the next day it will take an hour. The last few days, however, I have noticed that it has only been touching the top of the middle level of my pain. I have what I call three levels of pain: top, middle, and bottom, the bottom being the worst. I've also noticed it's been wearing off at the four to four and a half-hour mark, and I start going into withdrawals, which is awful!! I am currently taking 15 mgs four times a day. I've also only been back on Roxi for almost a month. I cannot say it was like this last time because I wasn't on this regimen last time. I am fortunate because I do not get high from pain meds, and I only deal with the physiological side effects."

Oxycodone for Chronic Pain "I have been getting physical therapy, doing physical therapy anyway as epidermal delta cortisone shots into shoulder, back, and well-diagnosed pain, varicose veins, rheumatoid arthritis, torn tendon, and neuro-pain. I've been taking OxyContin 80 mg CR every 12 hours, with lidocaine patch, until the OxyContin was not covered, so I was now prescribed Xtampza ER 36 mg twice daily every 12 hours. It made me have withdrawals, sweats, changes in behavior, and not much analgesic pain help. This medicine makes people bloated and drag their butt around in pain all day. And nobody wants to take something that just gives poor sleep from pain that keeps you awake and bad dreams of how you still have pain. It should be remade or off the market of pharma for false advertising."

For Chronic Pain "I have been on Mallinckrodt Oxycodone 5 mg for 3 years, and they worked perfectly until November of 2016. They've been horrible since then and cause jitters, don't work, cause withdrawal symptoms 4-5 hours after taking them, and are suspiciously bad. The problem is the drug company and Walgreens try to convince people these side effects and sudden drastic changes in the way the pills work are in the head of the patient and bully them into fearing looking like a drug seeker. The FDA also doesn't care if they work right because they want to scare people into not using them. I seriously feel helpless and am so frustrated by the shadiness of all companies/parties involved. Steer clear of Mallinckrodt."

Oxycodone for Pain "I used this medicine under strict supervision at a pain management center after failed trials with Opana and Kadian, which made me ill. Vicodin was not strong enough as I have had open back surgery from my skull to mid-back to drain a spinal cord cyst called a 'syrinx.' My spine was arthritic and required struts to rebuild it; I now have chronic acute pain just holding up my head (max 5-6 hours at a time). I also have chronic low back pain, arthritis, and herniation with a tear. Thankfully, it relieved my pain and helped me function somewhat normally for 5-6 months. Then one month, the refill arrived two days late and I went through withdrawal, suffering horribly with dark suicidal ideation and depression. I got off it. Now on Percocet, not ideal."

Oxycodone for Pain "At first, this was a very good pain medication, and it helped a lot, but due to taking it for a few years, the effectiveness is not nearly as good as when I started taking it. Since so many people are addicted to these things, when I had my medicine stolen from me, I had withdrawals, and it was horrible."

Oxycodone for Pain "I've been on OxyContin for almost 4 years, with a dosage of 40 mg twice daily, supplemented by hydrocodone 10/500 three times a day. My diagnosis is severe skeletal trauma from a motorcycle accident and other car accidents. The OxyContin provides me with almost complete relief on a good day and makes my pain bearable on a bad day. The negative is the brutal withdrawal. I travel extensively for my job and take with me only what I need in a separate pillbox. I carry a copy of the prescriptions with me. I had 22 OxyContin and 30+ hydrocodones stolen out of my luggage. I didn't want to ask for a refill early because I couldn't get either the airline or TSA to acknowledge the theft and did not want to be labeled a drug seeker."

Oxycodone for Pain "I'm a diabetic with peripheral neuropathy. I was started on 30 mg Oxycodone Immediate Release 3 times a day and Methadone 10 mg 6 times a day. They have both worked wonders! Recently, I developed bad infected foot ulcers and now have a hole on the side of my left foot and open sores/wounds at the bottom of both feet, and my doctor upped my dosage to 30 mg Oxycodone Immediate Release 6 times a day and Methadone 10 mg 9 times a day, and with the Methadone, the Oxycodone has NO 'high' effects. I am so happy my quality of life has raised, and I am able to walk almost normally with little to no pain during most of the day. I have gone through the withdrawal by missing 5 days of both medications once, and it is bad. Other than that, it is a Godsend!"

Oxycodone for Pain "I am a 47-year-old male who has taken this drug for 10 years (300 mg per day, every day). Yes, it will ease pain, but normally after 2 to 3 years you have to increase it. I was medically dependent within months. In late fall '09, the medicines just lost their effect by at least 50%. So I was faced with a 50% increase in medicines. I said NO! So I tried a medical detox place to start. After 90 hours there, they said, 'You have done great, we are sending you home.' I was so proud till 4 a.m. the next day. I threw up 90 times in the next 60 hours. I lost 34 lbs. in 8 days and had severe withdrawal symptoms for 2 more weeks. It has been 30 days since I started this, and I will never put that poison in my body."

For Chronic Pain "Got home to find my oxycodone meds were different, manufactured by Rhodes. Been taking same meds 10 years without a hiccup. These weren't working, so I ended up taking more trying to stop pain. I ended up being 4 days short/no meds. I assumed I'd be in bed sick, sweating with withdrawals. However, none of these occurred, meaning that rubbish was bogus or had little to no painkiller in it. Had such a small amount of medicine in it I basically got weaned off it. I've called around and everybody has been switched to meds that don't work. What? They want the doc to put me on oxycontin!"

Oxycodone for Pain "I was on every pain medicine imaginable and even OxyContin for a few years. At first, I thought it was the 'wonder medicine' people talk about. After a while, though, it caused me more problems than it was worth. The strange thing was, if I took the normal (prescribed) dose, I would actually feel like I had more pain than if I didn't take it at all, so I was always trying to take more because if I didn't take it, I had withdrawals. Then I was always caught trying to take more to avoid the pain or the withdrawal. I finally got away from that and started taking methadone. A very small dose of methadone does fine with absolutely no side effects, no withdrawals if I don't need it that day, and no chasing the pain away."

For Pain "I don't care what most say, this is the best pain reliever I have ever had for my chronic pain. No other medicine works like this does. The only problems I ever had with it were the one time I ran out a day early, and I had some withdrawals. So yes, it will give you withdrawals, but if you are taking the right amount and doing what you are supposed to, and have a good doctor, that won't be a problem. This is a great drug for people that follow directions and are in severe pain. After a year or so, you will get too used to it, that's when you go on something else for a week or bear the pain and take ibuprofen, and then when the week is up, it will work again. That's how great this drug is, it works again in a few days!"

Oxycodone for Pain "My husband has been prescribed some kind of painkiller since the age of 11 due to football injuries as well as several auto accidents. Seventy-two broken bones throughout his life. About 9 years ago, a pain management doctor prescribed him OxyContin, and it has changed his life for the good as well as creating some unfortunate disadvantages. The withdrawal is horrible for him, but after a bilateral knee replacement, it definitely improved the quality of both of our lives. He is much more active than before and can do so many things that I had to do for him in the past. So with proper management by doctors, it has definitely proved to be a Godsend."

Oxycodone for Chronic Pain "I've been on Dazidox for a month, and it is awful. I've been on various brands of 20 mg Oxycodone for many years now with no serious issues, but sometimes when the pharmacy changes brands, it does take me an average of 3 weeks to adjust to the different ingredients (fillers, etc.) that EVERYONE in the medical/pharma industry tells me are 100% the same, regardless of generic, name brand, fillers, inert ingredients, et al. Why bother with such a lie? We all know that those 'inert ingredients' quite often wreak havoc with allergies, cause drug interactions, extreme sedation, and other uncomfortable side effects. I've been miserable all month long with ZERO pain relief, worse joint pain, difficulty catching my breath, and when I tried to cut back to 1/2 tab to see if the dose was too strong, I felt thrust into immediate withdrawal! I feel brain dead on it and SO utterly exhausted that I have quite often just sat down and cried for lack of energy. This one is the worst Dazidox."

For Chronic Pain "I've been avoiding asking for a medication change for 3 years, knowing what a nightmare (we legit sufferers) go through! It's worse than ever! Especially if you have Kaiser! What a greedy, uncaring pharmacy! I too have been going through withdrawal since I changed from 4 mg Dilaudid 4 times daily to 10/325 Percocet (supposedly). It's equivalent to plain old Tylenol! I'm miserable! I will be changing health insurance. Anyway, for at least 10 years, this Kaiser pharmacy KNOWS that I don't tolerate Mallinckrodt (crap) as it instantly gives me a migraine! To date, I have yet to get anything but! The time has come. I'm fighting back!"

For Chronic Pain "I take oxycodone for breakthrough pain. Last night, the pharmacy gave me oxycodone made by a different manufacturer - Rhodes. I took it and then had symptoms of withdrawal! Is there even ANY oxycodone in this pill?! Now, I have a month's supply of a narcotic medication that doesn't work! I am NOT going to suffer through withdrawal symptoms for the next month just because this pill SAYS it is oxycodone, but it actually doesn't do anything at all for pain! This drug should be taken off the market! Who tested this medicine and decided that it was suitable?! My advice is this: if a pharmacy tries to give you oxycodone made by the manufacturer, Rhodes, do NOT take it. Tell them that you are allergic to it and that you need a different brand. I am giving a rating of 1, but this rating is for the RHODES brand of the drug and not the drug itself."

For Pain "This medicine works great! I'm only 20 years old, have torn my ACL in my right knee 2 times, and had to have rods and pins put in my kneecap when I was 16. Since then, I've had 3 surgeries on it, and when I turned 18, my doctor told me about oxycodone. Since I've been 18, and now 20, I've been taking Percocet. At first, I was on 15 mg 3 times a day, just recently, he bumped me up to 30 mg 3 times a day. The pain nearly goes away for 2 hours at a time. My doctor told me they would work for 6-8 hours at a time, that is not true, and if I don't take them for a day, I experience withdrawals. I feel guilty for taking them because I am so young, and everybody gives me a hard time for it, but the pain is not tolerable without them. It's true, it really works!"

For Pain "Awesome for pain. Withdrawal is disgusting. The worst stomach flu you have ever had times 10, plus depression. If you only plan on taking it for a couple of days, great. For long term, NOT GOOD! Please be careful, very, very addicting."

For Pain "I've taken Oxyfast for 18 months now for treatment following a severe auto accident (I suffered multiple herniations in my neck and back, torticollis, jaw dislocation, head trauma, right rotator cuff, and right hand ligaments permanently scarred). It took 4 years for me to succumb to taking this medication because of all the bad publicity. I was introduced to it by people who eventually suffered severe addictions. I'm happy to say even though I'm prescribed over 200 mg per day, I only take it for breakthrough pain to relieve the torture in my head (supposedly cluster headaches). I can stop for weeks at a time and am very thankful it doesn't affect me negatively (i.e., withdrawals)."

For Pain "Have had moderate to severe pain for over 10 years. Percocet was the first to even touch my pain, then had to be switched to OxyContin, when the withdrawal was too much. OxyContin didn't last 12 hours, took it every 8 and still experienced withdrawal symptoms and breakthrough pain. Finally switching to Hydromorph Contin. Much better, now I have no withdrawals ever."

For Pain "It is our right to have medication available for our use. My advice is to use it correctly. After several years of increasing my own doses to 20/day (7.5/200 Vicoprofen), I decided to quit or die of an O.D. So I went to a specialist who deals with detox using Suboxone or Subutex. Either one will help if you are worried about withdrawals."

Oxycodone for Pain "Very good (one of the best in my experience) pain drug, but beware. It is VERY addicting with horrible withdrawal symptoms if you don't have help to get off of it."

Oxycodone for Pain "I have been using this medication for about 6 months. Roxicodone 30 mg every 4 hours. It does work great, takes the pain away within a short time period, about 15 minutes once taken. I have had 17 surgeries and have been unable to do a lot of things until I started taking this medication. I don't feel tired or get a 'high' feeling. I am happy I found a medication that works for me. Only one bad thing - I had when some of my medication was stolen. I had to stop taking it. I thought I was going to die - I was in bed for 3 days. Like they say on this site, put all your medicines up and follow the directions. I wouldn't want anybody to have to go through withdrawals on this medication."
