For High Blood Pressure "Bystolic works for me with very 'few' side effects. Aged mid-40s, female. Typical reading prior to taking was 175/120, pulse 125. Now on Bystolic 5mg for 2 months, my BP is 125/65, pulse 60. A major difference, and my headaches went away that I previously had (due to HBP). I think it depends on the chemistry of the individual and pre-existing health conditions that one may have. Based on my own experiences while taking this medication, I feel so much better, minimal reactions (NO anxiety or depression, actually much calmer, and I am a very hyper individual constantly on the move). It definitely helped me! ❤️ One time, accidentally overlapping the time frames that I normally take it, I experienced an adverse effect taking it 2 hours earlier one day (by accident) than the usual time, and my pulse decreased to 45 BPM, and my BP actually increased! I experienced dizziness, almost fainted, mimicking an overdose. Taken the same time daily, it is very effective!"

For High Blood Pressure "I was prescribed this medication for high blood pressure. It DID lower my blood pressure, and for about 6 weeks, I had almost no adverse reaction. I was prescribed 10 mg, but only took 5 mg because I am sensitive to medicines and anesthetics. Vivid dreams, insomnia, sleepiness during the day were tolerable, but I soon developed double vision, pain in my upper body, a rash, and increasing weakness and balance problems. I weaned myself off slowly--my last dose was in February 2014--I still have tremors, difficulty walking, and extreme weakness. I cannot recommend Bystolic."

For High Blood Pressure "59-year-old woman had been very active and fit. An adverse reaction to a cold medication sent my blood pressure sky-high, and my doc put me on Bystolic 5mg, which worked well for me for 3 months until I started having awful side effects such as dizziness, extreme fatigue, numbness, and cold extremities, etc. It was debilitating. Getting off Bystolic was awful. My heart rate was through the roof, I had major tremors, panic attacks, and very high BP spikes for days. I had very intolerable side effects to other BP meds as well. I am 2 months off Bystolic now, and 9 days off all BP meds. Blood pressure occasionally spikes, but generally not bad and coming down gradually. I'm able to exercise a bit again, and that is helping my blood pressure. But I still have slight tremors most days, still lightheaded, and definitely more anxious than I ever was before I started any medication. I feel like I was poisoned, and recovery is very slow."

For High Blood Pressure "I have had extremely high blood pressure (195/100 - 259/105) since January after an injection I received, which landed me in the emergency room 3 times and 19 doctor visits since then. I used to have elevated (130/98 - 138/99) blood pressure, but nothing like this. Five medication changes since this episode and nothing helped. Finally, a new MD switched me to Bystolic yesterday, and within minutes, I felt tremendous relief. I even slept the whole night through without a pounding heartbeat in my ears, no headache upon waking, for the first time since January 26th after the injection experience. It’s been pure anguish for a few months. I still have many tests to go through to find out what caused this. I’m usually very active, riding horses, doing yoga, riding my Peloton bike, walking 8 miles a day on the ranches. But all came to a screeching halt since that day. But today, I even did yoga without dizziness! Praying for continued success with this drug, and I will update if things change."

For High Blood Pressure "I am 23 and 123 pounds and I only take 2.5 mg of Bystolic. Even with such a low dose I have side effects! Insomnia all the time, low energy, I've fainted and often get dizzy, low sex drive, my feet and hands go numb. I have always been a very energetic person, now I feel like I'm too tired to do anything! I've tried everything from working out to extreme healthy eating and I can't get off of it. This medicine is terrible."

For High Blood Pressure "I’ve been on Bystolic 5 mg since March 2018 when I started to feel my heart flutter a couple of times a week. Besides the Bystolic, I’ve been on lisinopril 40 mg, pravastatin 20 mg, and 80 mg low-dose aspirin for about 5 years. I’ve noticed what feels like dizziness, lightheadedness, and disorientation, especially when I’m driving. And it always seems to be the right side of my head/face. Today I had really bad episode(s) going to work and driving home. I had to pull over to the side of the road this morning until it passed, but then it came back so quickly I couldn’t find a place to pull over, so I ended up driving the rest of the way to work verbalizing, 'you're okay, you're okay,' just to focus on something besides that feeling. The same thing happened on my way home. I’m terrified that I’m going to pass out or drive off the road and kill someone or myself. This med has also caused me to gain weight, lose focus and memory, diminished sex drive, and can’t fall asleep."

For High Blood Pressure "I was switched yesterday to Bystolic 2.5 mg, and my doctor said I could take it at any time of day, either with or without food. Within 30 minutes of taking the smallest dose, I felt the extreme intoxication feeling another reviewer felt: dizzy and foggy-headed. I woke up in the middle of the night with my arms tingling and numb several times. On Day 2, I'm sitting in my office shaking my arms so they have some sensation to type, my feet are numb, and my tongue feels tingly. I have had no appetite at all but forced myself to eat some almonds for protein. I'm not overweight or underweight or nauseated. I just don't want to eat. I cannot gather a thought long enough to speak it from my tingling mouth. THERE WILL NOT BE A DAY 3!!!"

For High Blood Pressure "Started on 20 mg Bystolic after a bout of tachycardia. Had been taking diltiazem 360 mg. Felt dizzy, and BP fell too low on 20 mg, so lowered to 10 mg a day. Worked pretty well for 6 months, but I have recently begun exercising routinely and have lost about 20 pounds (235 down to 214 this morning). Now my HR has slowed to under 50 bpm, and I feel light-headed most of the time. Going to titrate down to 5 mg over the next few days and see if that helps. Doctor's appointment in another week. Thanks for all the comments. Very helpful."

For High Blood Pressure "My life has changed significantly the last few months. I'm feeling totally lost my energy levels and fighting to keep the interest in anything. I started to think that I developed some kind of sickness like anemia or something else. For sure, I decided to investigate and find the root cause. Today, I saw the Bystolic reviews here, and the previous comments are exactly like mine: 'It was effective in lowering my blood pressure from 150/95 down to 128/83 on average. However, this drop came at a tremendous expense to my lifestyle.' I myself have felt very low energy, occasional dizziness, sexual and general lack of interest in anything. My appetite dropped, and I stopped feeling life inside me. So, I decided to see my doctor and stop it."

For High Blood Pressure "Bystolic 5 mg for hypertension has made me extremely sleepy, with considerable fatigue. I want to lay down all the time. I also have occasional diarrhea, headaches, and have a lot of trouble with dizziness. It has not lowered my blood pressure, but I am afraid of more side effects if I take a stronger dose. I am tired, tired, tired all the time."

For High Blood Pressure "Was experiencing anxiety because adult son was imprisoned. BP would spike to 160/100. Tried 2.5 mg Bystolic for 30 days and seemed to work, although towards the end of the period, experienced mild dizziness and fatigue and somewhat out of breath. Continued for another 20 days and had branch retinal vein occlusion with seepage. Weaned off over 10 days and my eye feels better. Feel all better. My BP off drugs now is running around 124/80. Thinking maybe low dose Lisinopril for my eye. Wonder if Bystolic caused my eye problem. There are some reports of ocular conjunctival hemorrhage with Bystolic?"

For Mitral Valve Prolapse "I have mitral valve prolapse, female, 42. I started Bystolic, 5 mg, a couple of weeks ago, no palpitations, no dizziness, no headaches, no fatigue. My sleep is off a bit, but other than that, I feel great."

In a nutshell, harmful side effects make this drug ineffective in solving BP problems."

For High Blood Pressure "Bystolic added to Losartan to lower my blood pressure. It did lower BP, but the side effects of weakness, dizzy spells, blurry vision, and upset stomach are terrible. I cannot tolerate this drug or perhaps the combination."

For High Blood Pressure "Tried Bystolic yesterday for my BP. Took again today. Should not have, but my other BP meds had given me so much trouble I had to quit taking them. Last night my pulse went down to 48. Today, off and on, up and having dizzy spells, panic attacks. It seems that I stacked it up onto medications that had been doing that and it accentuated them. It seems to me, unless you have a high pulse rate, that these beta blockers are not good medications to use."

For High Blood Pressure "Been on 2.5 mg Bystolic daily for 2 weeks now. Half in the morning, half at night. At first, the only side effects I had were blurred vision and lightheadedness after an hour of taking the dose. After 2 weeks, I have many side effects: dizziness, tingling wrists and feet, lightheadedness, and feel some chest discomfort. Also, I have no energy to walk or hike. Did I mention the lack of sleep at night? Terrible."

For High Blood Pressure "I'm a 30-year-old male, former college athlete, large frame and build. Fourteen months ago, I started Lisinopril and another beta blocker on a recommendation from my cardiologist PA after determining I have essential hypertension and was having issues with panic attacks and tachycardia. After about a month, I complained of the side effects of the beta blocker and it switched me to Bystolic 5 mg. I noticed that I slowly began to gain weight, but I thought it was possibly just a lifestyle problem. My instances of tachycardia and also my blood pressure both went down with the medication. The side effects I learned to live with were sleeplessness, dizziness, foggy memory, severe dehydration, especially after alcohol or a big meal, some ED, and just overall lethargy and cloudiness. And the weight gain. But I hung on to Bystolic out of fear for my cardiovascular system."

For High Blood Pressure "I was taking metoprolol prior to this, which made me dizzy and didn't even keep my blood pressure down. Bystolic gave me zero side effects and helped lower my blood pressure continuously throughout the day, not just for a few hours, it's done wonders."

For High Blood Pressure "This is my first time on any high blood pressure medication. My new primary care physician noticed that recently it's been high during my visits, so he decided to put me on Bystolic. The day he put me on this medication (before I started it), I was driving to work in the morning and suffered what I can only assume a panic attack feels like (which is why I went to my doctor later that day). My heart was pounding through my chest, my face and arms went numb, chest pain, and dizziness. Anyway, I have been on it for less than a month and have seen no negative side effects yet, and my BP has been normal. The only reason I didn't give this a 10 is because I have only been on it a short amount of time. We'll see if I get the same results over time."

For High Blood Pressure "Put on Bystolic for HBP. Did not help at all. Nauseated, dizzy, pressure in neck and head, upset stomach, heart flutters. Had to stay in bed for 3 days. Thought I was going to have a heart attack or stroke. Still trying to get it out of my system after 4 days. Slightly better but still nauseated and heart still flutters."

For High Blood Pressure "25 years old, sensitive to most medicines, and this was another one on the blacklist. Headaches occasionally, insomnia, loss of sexual desire, heart palpitations, depression, dizzy when standing up or squatting down, tired when sitting down, and short-term memory was terrible."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on Bystolic for two months. I was previously on metoprolol and had to discontinue due to the shortage. My blood pressure immediately stabilized while on Bystolic and is running now in the 120/80 range, which has not been in 10 years. I experienced some dizziness the first couple of weeks, but that has gone now. My PVCs are controlled but slightly more than on metoprolol. The most significant thing is that headaches and eye twitching I was having disappeared within two days of being off metoprolol and on Bystolic. I never realized they were being caused by the metoprolol. I have also switched from Naprosyn to Advil. While contraindicated with a beta blocker, I could not do without an anti-inflammatory - Advil had less negative effects on blood pressure."

For High Blood Pressure "Was on Inderal for some 25 years, then switched (because of insurance reasons) to different (cheaper) high blood pressure medicines. After several attempts at these newer medicines, had to return to Inderal. For some reason, Inderal stopped working for me. Doctor switched me to Bystolic. WONDER DRUG! I no longer have palpitations, blood pressure is 120/70, no more nausea, no more dizziness, no more fatigue. Truly a wonder drug, at least for me. ONLY drawback, it's expensive. But what price for feeling good and healthy again."

For High Blood Pressure "I'm 39 years old, and I've been experiencing high BP for a few months - 190/140. I was on Effexor, and the doctor immediately took me off that and replaced it with Viibryd and added the Bystolic 10 mg. Definitely feeling better...no more heartbeats THUMPING in my head. Been a bit dizzy/lightheaded, but I'm attributing that to the change in antidepressant, but after reading everything...not quite sure. I've had some loose bowels too, but who cares as long as my pounding heartbeat is gone. I never felt bad before, but the medicines have given me some peace of mind."

For High Blood Pressure "I was on metoprolol 100 for about 1 year. It caused anxiety, heart palpitations, dizziness, tiredness, and a general ill/bad feeling. My doctor finally offered new medicines, and the Bystolic 10mg is the best thing that could have happened for me. I was nervous at first because of my experience with other beta blockers, but honestly, apart from taking it every morning, I forget I have a condition. No side effects! When I was researching Bystolic, I found bad reviews, but after using it for 3 months now, I had to leave positive remarks. What a great medicine."
