Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I was having trouble with my previous blood pressure med. So my MD office put me on Bystolic to try and gave me a month's worth of samples. Thank goodness I didn't have to pay a copayment. It didn't bring down my blood pressure at all. I gained 8 lbs in 4 weeks from fluid retention. I'm tired all the time when I took it, and I have wheezes from being short of breath. And I needed to be taken off of work for 2-3 weeks because of the fluid retention in my legs. I would not recommend this drug to anyone. It gave me nothing but grief and side effects are scary, and they don't go away instantly, it takes a few weeks for them to leave my system. Please don't take this medicine."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I was on metoprolol 100 for about 1 year. It caused anxiety, heart palpitations, dizziness, tiredness, and a general ill/bad feeling. My doctor finally offered new medicines, and the Bystolic 10mg is the best thing that could have happened for me. I was nervous at first because of my experience with other beta blockers, but honestly, apart from taking it every morning, I forget I have a condition. No side effects! When I was researching Bystolic, I found bad reviews, but after using it for 3 months now, I had to leave positive remarks. What a great medicine."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I have been taking Bystolic for 3 years for high BP and mitral prolapse. I'm 62. It was very effective at first for BP. The dosage raised over time from 5 mg to 20 mg. Now, less effective for BP - prolapse has evidently not worsened. I frequently feel tired now. I exercise regularly but require more effort when on this drug. My other complaint is chest pain and low heart rate, face rash, and I often have a pounding heart sensation. My goal is to lose 25 lbs (I'm 5'11", 218 pounds) in the hope that I can stop taking this med. The side effects are numerous for me, and I worry about the longer-term impact since it slows your heart rate so much. I will be seeking advice for an alternative med. The chest pain is the most worrying symptom (my stress tests/calcium scans are good)."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I have been on this medicine for a year now. I have recently realized (from seeing a new doctor) that I should not have been put on this medication. I have to see a cardiologist to get off of Bystolic 10!? Really!? I wish I knew that before I was prescribed this. It's never really kept my blood pressure in check 100%....so I wanted to stop taking it. But when my doctor said I had to see a specialist, I was annoyed. I have come to learn that this medication is why I have put on so much weight, feel so tired, deal with numb hands."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "Took Bystolic 5mg for a month. At first, it seemed to be okay. I liked it because it did not make me dizzy, but by the third week, I started getting side effects. First off, I was so tired and had no energy, thought it was me, but no, it was Bystolic. Then my shoulder joints started aching and kind of running down to my wrist in both arms. Not too bad, but still there, and the last straw for me was when my left arm started to tingle on the outside of my forearm. Well, I started cutting them in half, so now I was taking 2.5 mg for the last week, and it made no difference. Every time I took the pill, hours later my arm would start tingling along with the other side effects. Also, another thing, it made me gain ten pounds in a month's time, also bloating."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I'm a 30-year-old male, former college athlete, large frame and build. Fourteen months ago, I started Lisinopril and another beta blocker on a recommendation from my cardiologist PA after determining I have essential hypertension and was having issues with panic attacks and tachycardia. After about a month, I complained of the side effects of the beta blocker and it switched me to Bystolic 5 mg. I noticed that I slowly began to gain weight, but I thought it was possibly just a lifestyle problem. My instances of tachycardia and also my blood pressure both went down with the medication. The side effects I learned to live with were sleeplessness, dizziness, foggy memory, severe dehydration, especially after alcohol or a big meal, some ED, and just overall lethargy and cloudiness. And the weight gain. But I hung on to Bystolic out of fear for my cardiovascular system."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I am a 43-year-old male. I recently was diagnosed with high blood pressure 190/104. My doctor started me on 5 mg per day for the first month. Raised it to 10 mg per day in the 2nd month and 20 mg per day in the 3rd month. Recently, I started having random and uncontrollable bouts of diarrhea. I am also tired all the time with low energy levels. I am an electrical contractor. Before I started taking this medicine, I was a high-energy, multitasker. Now, although my blood pressure is under control, I am tired most of the time, and at times I can't seem to think clearly enough to perform the complex logical tasks that my job requires. The diarrhea is sometimes uncontrollable."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "Took Bystolic 5 mg for a year. Episodes short of breath while exercising. Progressively tired with no energy. A general feeling of unwellness. To top it off, each month, it controlled my BP less and less. And I gained 30 lbs. Never had any of these issues before! Switched to Atenolol 25 mg. Still tired, but the feeling of unwellness is gone. No more breathing issues while exercising. BP is controlled well. However, my hair is starting to thin (never had hair issues before). My plan is to stay on Atenolol for now, force myself to start exercising again, tired or not, lose the weight, and start natural supplements to lower BP. Hopefully, once I lose weight and exercise more, I can get off the nightmare BP meds. I want my life back again. :("

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I was taking carvedilol 3.125 mg bid, and it stopped working shortly after starting a stressful job and a death in my family. I wasn't able to get it under control, so my cardiologist started me on Bystolic 10 mg qd. I was pleased with its quick results, bringing my BP down to the normal range. Now I have realized that I am tired all the time, I have no sex drive, and I don't really care about much of anything. I can sleep all day on my days off. I have gained 30 lbs over the last year! I got my old rx filled today for the carvedilol, and along with diet and exercise, I'm hoping to get back to my old self again. I can't deal with the fatigue anymore. Not to mention the price of $60 per month."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "25 years old, sensitive to most medicines, and this was another one on the blacklist. Headaches occasionally, insomnia, loss of sexual desire, heart palpitations, depression, dizzy when standing up or squatting down, tired when sitting down, and short-term memory was terrible."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I am a 22-year-old male. Parents and grandparents both had high blood pressure and passed it right on to me. I have been taking Bystolic for about a year now and had excellent blood pressure. HOWEVER, I am extremely tired all of the time. If I do not get at least 9 hours of sleep, I am tired through the day. Before I started taking it, I was fine on 7 hours of sleep. I even have to take naps sometimes because I just can't stay awake. I have chest pain about once a week that lasts for an hour or so. Doesn't hurt, but very uncomfortable. Also, I have gained about 25 pounds in the past year. Blood pressure is good, but side effects are rough."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "This drug had some weird effects for me. I'm 21 and was on 5 mg for one year. I felt tired a good amount of the time, but I tried to remain active and exercise. When I did exercise, my endurance was great. I went from running 15 minutes a few times a week before this drug to running 45-50 minutes 4-5 times a week, and I never really wore out. I think it was because it increased nitric oxide bioavailability. I just never wore out during exercise, but always felt like I could take a nap. Just weird. Also had the vivid dreams and made me apathetic. Just not something I wanted to be on long term."

Nebivolol for Mitral Valve Prolapse "41 yr old Caucasian female. 115 lbs/5'. No negative medical history other than mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation. Horrid chest pains and no energy. I can't recall the 1st drug - caused numbness in hands and feet - tingling and cold feelings were horrible. Also caused extreme tiredness; mixed with the fatigue from the regurgitation made me a rag doll. BYSTOLIC CHANGED MY LIFE. Started me at 10 mg - lasted 10 months; now on 20 mg for the last 5 months. Pain creeps in faster as I am sure the valve isn't getting any 'better'. Time will bring about the need to change it, and my doctor is waiting for Cleveland Clinic to open up new non-intrusive surgeries to patients who do not have life-threatening MVP issues. Side effects are minimal, and I HAVE MY LIFE BACK."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I am 35 years old, and my blood pressure, which was an average of 150/90, was giving me headaches. My doctor prescribed me 5 mg of Bystolic daily, and my blood pressure dropped to 120/80 - perfect. Some side effects, though. I experienced initial tiredness, which waned, and decreased sex drive. I haven't gained any weight, but it really seems hard to lose any, which I've been trying to do for a while. I think this is due in part because it's hard to keep your heart rate elevated when exercising. Overall, a good drug - gets the job done."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "Was on Toprol XL for years, which made me overly tired. Now on Bystolic for 7 months so far. Perfect. I have tons more energy, and my arrhythmia was controlled along with my high blood pressure. The only side effect I've noticed is that I'm able to keep awake."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "Started off on Bystolic 5 mg after having very high readings. I stayed on it for about a month before taking 2.5 mg. It was very effective. I was walking 4 miles a day. After going off of it, my blood pressure shot up (about a month later) to 168/119. Because of the cost, I was switched to a much cheaper blood pressure medicine, metoprolol 50 mg two times a day. I do not feel like myself. Dizzy spells, tiredness, and swelling. I will be going back on Bystolic. With Bystolic, I felt great. No odd feeling, and my blood pressure was totally controlled. I am only 36."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I recently switched physicians and was placed on Bystolic after being on Benicar for over a year. Benicar did not control my blood pressure, but since being placed on Bystolic, I felt the difference immediately. I had problems with palpitations, uncontrolled blood pressure, sweating, hot flashes, and racing heart. I am now much calmer and my blood pressure is under control. The only side effect I am having (after being on this prescription for a week) is tiredness and a loss of appetite. I do get a little dizzy about an hour after taking the medication, but Benicar did the same."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I have been on 2.5 mg of Bystolic for 3 months now. I found this forum searching to see if others feel tired and sleepy from this drug. It worked for me right away, but now I am ready to head to bed at 9:00 and never have a problem falling asleep. If I am not active during the day, I feel tired. It's lowered my heart rate while running, and my 8:30-8:45 per minute miles are now 9:30-10:00. My cardiologist says that if it becomes unbearable, he can find an alternative. Not sure what I am going to do as the drug is doing its job with my BP."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I have been taking Bystolic for a month and a half now. My blood pressure topped out at 214/122 while I was pregnant, and after many tests, I was diagnosed with chronic hypertension. I was switched around a lot, but nothing worked for me until my doctor put me on Valturna and Bystolic. Bystolic works well for bringing down diastolic pressure, which seems to be my problem. I started on 40 mg/day and am down to 20 mg/day. I'm bottoming out, so I'm sure he'll be lowering my dose again. It does make you tired at first, but people should wait it out. The effects of this medicine can take 2 to 4 weeks to fully work. I'm no longer tired, and my blood pressure is significantly lower and safe now."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I am an almost 77-year-old lady and being treated for atrial fibrillation and hypertension. Bystolic has effectively controlled my high pulse rate and lowered my blood pressure, but it makes me terribly tired. I think I will try taking the medicines at night in hope that I can sleep the tiredness off. I was so interested in the weight gain comments. Now I have something to blame those extra pounds on!"

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I'm a 24-year-old female with a chronic heart condition. In November, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, 131/105. The doctor placed me on lisinopril, then added Bystolic. I've now had a blood pressure of 95/65 and feel tired a lot, but on the plus side, no chest pain and decreased swelling in arms and legs."

For High Blood Pressure "I am a male, and this medication made me extremely tired. It seemed extremely effective at lowering my blood pressure and pulse - way more so than any other blood pressure medicines or beta blockers. But unfortunately, I could barely keep my eyes open on it. I needed to take one pill twice a day to maintain the low blood pressure. I tried a half pill first, and it still made me tired, and I just did not feel right in the head on it."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "After a few decades of high blood pressure, my new doctor switched me to Bystolic. Two days later, I was within normal range for the first time. I absolutely love the results of this med. I have had very vivid dreams, insomnia, and tiredness during the day. I was willing to deal with that. Here's the problem... I started with a 'coupon,' which was to make my maximum monthly cost $30. I filled the prescription in April, and it cost $30, but in May, it was $65. The pharmacy was told that the coupon 'changed' May 1. I called the coupon administration office and was told the same thing. However, the coupon says right on the back that it is valid until December 31. I feel I was deceived! I have asked my doc to switch me to something else."

Nebivolol for High Blood Pressure "I was started on 5mg Bystolic 4 months ago. It took me to a very dark place. So tired I couldn't function, no concentration, legs and shoulders hurt, don't care about nothing or no one. It did slow down my racing heart. I have been borderline diabetic for 5 years but last test showed I have crossed the line, my doctor said the Bystolic probably pushed me over the line. It can mess with your sugar level. Wish he had told me that before I took it. He cut me back to 2.5mg. My energy came back some but I still have no motivation. My spark is gone. Still have pain in legs, shoulders, and neck. The simplest of tasks is overwhelming. My doctor is determined to keep me on it. He thinks all my symptoms are just in my head. I guess my A1c can be made up in my head. He wants me to try depression medicine but I decline. I was happy and motivated before I started this mess. I just want to feel good again, not blah all the time."
