Morphine for Chronic Pain "Lumbar, 3-level fusion with hardware. Cervical, 3-level fusion with hardware. Take 200 mg every night. The best pain medicine ever taken. After 4 years on the same dose, fighting with the insurance company for a higher dose."

Morphine for Pain "I am retired, but still read and do many other activities. I was taking MS Contin 30 mg 3x and Oxycodone IR 10 mg 4x per day. I stopped reading and crocheting. I stopped watching my favorite programs. I never knew when I was going to fall asleep. I became hostile, angry, depressed, paranoid, and had substantial memory loss. I stopped talking to people and was tired all the time. I didn't connect it to my pain medication because I have numerous chronic illnesses. Last year, my doctor suggested a change to OxyContin, but I was afraid. A month ago, I started taking Oxycodone IR 10 mg four times a day and Xtampza 18 mg three times per day. I wish I had done it sooner. I have eaten a good meal with the Xtampza, but I am awake, and my real personality is back. My energy is up."

For Chronic Pain "By 17, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Now I have arthritis everywhere, have had a vertebral fusion (registered nurse for 10 years, and I took care of gastric bypass patients for 2 of that, ICU for 5), both knees need replacing, and now I am having more back problems again. I attempted suicide 3 times because of the pain. I finally came to my doctor and asked to prescribe and sign a contract. Since then, I have had a disc fusion, found how helpful swimming can be (swim daily now), and I can function so much better! I still have pain (30mg ER 3x daily and 15mg Q4 hr as needed. Usually only 1x/day.) I am so much more active. The only drawback is occasionally I have difficulty urinating. So thankful for this med."

Morphine for Chronic Pain "I was switched to MorphaBond after my ileostomy. I keep finding the pill partially dissolved in my pouch. A hard plastic-like cover with a powdery cotton material inside. Could this be due to the slow-release mechanism?"

Morphine for Pain "I've been on Kadian for 8 months (car accident 3 years ago, suffering from extensive postural and disc issues and recently diagnosed PTVS symptoms since). I'm 22 and started feeling able to live my life again after taking Kadian (10 mg 2 x day), and it seemed to make my mood better. It no longer works at the current dose, and the doctor won't move up a dose and doesn't believe in short-acting medicines. The first 6 months, it really did wonders and gave me a lot of my life back. Constipation is brutal with this medicine - I take Miralax daily with some relief. Withdrawals are horrific."

Morphine for Chronic Pain "I began taking MS Contin 30 mg twice daily about 11 years ago due to a chronic pain condition caused, in large part, by lack of treatment due to no insurance. About 2 years into being on this medication, it was increased to 60 mg twice daily and, 2 years ago, 100 mg twice daily. This medication has always kept my level of pain at a point where I could function in a manner where my quality of life increased, although I am unable to work because my left arm is basically useless. Its main drawback for me is that, like with all opioids, tolerance does occur and dosing increases are sometimes necessary. I also take, for breakthrough pain, Tylenol #4, 1 or 2 tabs every 4-6 hours when required. I would personally recommend this medication to anyone with chronic pain issues."

For Pain "I also use morphine SR 100 mg/8 hrs and would not be a functioning member of society without it. Degenerative disc disease, stenosis, narrowing of spinal foraminae, bone spurs, and facet syndrome would have me all but crippled. I can use this medication and function and support myself or not use it and draw off the government. I will choose the first option, thank you."

Morphine for Pain "I have been on MS Contin for about 6 months now, and I use it as my primary pain medicine. It has helped me more than any other pain medicine that the doctor has tried on me. As I have already stated, it is my primary pain medicine, taken every 12 hours. I also take oxycodone 30 mg, 4 times a day for the breakthrough pain."

Morphine for Pain "I've been taking Avinza for a few years, and it has changed my life. I have chronic back pain and have had one unsuccessful surgery. I will not go through that again just to be disappointed. I started with a dose of 120 mg and have been able to reduce that to only 30 mg over the past 18 months. I added in a regular visit to a chiropractor and had acupuncture. Altogether, these things have made my quality of life so much better. Soon I hope to be off of it totally."

Morphine for Pain "I have taken many different pain medicines over the last 11 years. This morphine is the smoothest, with no spikes or lows of blood levels. It has a fairly long half-life, so you don't have to worry about withdrawals if you miss a dose or two."

Morphine for Chronic Pain "I was on 40 mg of Methadone four times a day for 5 years, and it worked fairly well to control my pain. I have had back surgery at L5/S1 and have disc degenerative disease. Due to a change in insurance, I have had to change to a different med. Now I am on 90 mg of Morphine Sulfate ER. This does not seem to be helping close to what the Methadone was. I need help to find a medication that will help. Both my pain specialist and I thought this would do the trick, but even with steroid injections, I am still in massive pain."

Morphine for Chronic Pain "This is for IR, not SR or ER morphine. It's great. I have terrible reactions to extended release. I'm taking 15 mg at 2-hour intervals. I've been working with where my pain is, yet it still hurts. I know a higher dose will do better, but Morphine Sulfate IR is going okay for now."

Morphine for Chronic Pain "Just started this medicine for my spine arthritis and knee arthritis. It takes away the pain pretty well. I am only on 15 mg. Only problem I have is it makes me feel light-headed and jittery at times. But, as far as getting rid of the pain, it is doing the job so far."

Morphine for Chronic Pain "Kadian has been an amazingly helpful medication for me. I take 14 medications daily, four of those medications are for severe pain. Until the doctor added Kadian, the pain just was not giving me any breaks. I have been on Kadian for about four years now. I would rather die than miss even one dose, as it's that important to the quality of my life. To be fair, I do have some side effects I consider to be mild and not worth even mentioning. One thing to say that is important: I am physically addicted to this medicine. Missing a dose makes me sick, sick, sick. But then again, I don't miss doses anyway because of my pain levels, however, the pharmacy, doctor, or insurance will mess up once in a while, so I do suffer from missing doses once in a while."

Morphine for Pain "I have been on many different types of pain medicines for over 10 years now. I have degenerative nerve damage since a young age. Also crushed, herniated, and bulging discs in my entire lower lumbar region. I have been in unmanageable pain many times before trying MS Contin. This seems to give me the best possible relief while still allowing me to function in society. The pain is now under control, and I do live a normal life. I take Soma, a muscle relaxer, and that seems to help when I overdo things. I am prescribed 4 of the 60 mg in the a.m. and 4 in the p.m. without side effects."

Morphine for Pain "I was recently prescribed MS Contin for chronic pain from two failed shoulder surgeries and awaiting a third surgery. I had been taking Percocet for three years, but it had become ineffective. This medication is really a wonderful solution. I am relatively pain-free now. It does take an hour or more for it to take effect, even on an empty stomach. I have had no side effects. It is more expensive, but since it is so effective, I don't mind that. I am a retired PA-C and understand chronic pain and pharmacology, so I say thanks to Drugs.com for the free access to all you need to know about your medications, whether you are a practitioner or patient."

For Chronic Pain "I've had 9 knee surgeries, including a replacement at 48 (08), 7 facial repairs, fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic hormonal migraines, asthma, and a ruptured left diaphragm from coughing. Liver's in chest and partially collapsed right lung lobe. The black mold, severe allergies, and infections equal cannot breathe without constant severe pain, pleurisy, rib fractures, etc.! I was using 15 mg ER every 12 hours with 15 mg for breakthrough! Not cutting the pain but better. After a bout with severe stomach flu and in the hospital for 5 days, I am using the oral liquid morphine! With the ER, significantly more effective!"

Morphine for Pain "I have been taking Kadian for about two years, and it has been the only medicine that can manage my chronic pain. I was also taking several Vicodin daily prior to the use of Kadian. Now I only take a Vicodin once in a while. I also have an implant in my spine for pain control but need Kadian as well. I take 30 mg once a day at night. When I don't take this medicine, I cannot walk without a cane, so it also helps my mobility."

For Chronic Pain "As the morphine was effective, the more lasting effect was unexpected. I lost 12 teeth. A side effect? I don't have any other explanation. The health of my teeth was great before the 18 months of morphine. I was finally referred to a back pain specialist. I was to get off all medications to receive the injections. Cold turkey was the same as described in any heroin withdrawal. But I survived. I am taking a strong anti-inflammatory twice a day that seems to, after 9 years, keep the pain and the sciatica at bay. I still have numbness in my toes, but that is nerve damage from the inflammation. I live with that. My lack of upper teeth to chew my food is uncomfortable and embarrassing-no more smiles for me. No money for replacements."

Morphine for Chronic Pain "This is a lifesaver. I have many conditions that leave me in pain 24/7. I've been taking oxycodone for years and never got much relief, if I did, it wasn’t very long and made me feel buzzed, I guess you would call it. My doctor switched me to 30 mg MS Contin, and it has been a blessing. I don’t feel that buzzed feeling and have level pain relief all day and night. This medication is more natural than all the other opioid drugs. This is made from the poppy and not a lab."

Morphine for Pain "1st day of MS Contin 30 mg twice a day. I have been taking 6 Percocet a day and still in substantial pain. So far with this new drug, I am still in pain, but very manageable. I am heading for lower back procedures and possible surgery, hope to be off or at least reduce pain medicines over the next few months, but for now, I will take manageable pain."

Morphine for Pain "I've had 2 back surgeries for herniated disks. The second surgery wasn't successful, and I have constant nerve pain along the right side of my leg, all the way to the ankle. MS Contin ER has helped a great deal. I take 45 mg every 8 hours. I also take MS Contin Immediate Release for breakthrough pain (15 mg up to 4 times a day). All in all, thumbs up."

Morphine for Chronic Pain "Like a lot of you here, I'm suffering from chronic back pain due to multiple auto accidents. I used to be on 100 mg Morphine ER 3 times a day with 3-30 mg morphine IR for breakout. That enabled me, with Advil and Excedrin, to work for 7 more years. Since then, with the massive cutback on opioids, I'm cut back to three 30 mg ER tablets a day and not able to do anything. On top of that, I just moved and cannot find a doctor that even wants to work with me here. I've been on Vicodin, Norco, and Fentanyl during all this also. Morphine has been the only one that has held the line against the pain."

Morphine for Pain "I started taking MS Contin 60 mg this week. I was taking Methadone 120 mg a day for over 5 years. I am having some trouble with the changeover, but after 3 days, I am getting better. I also take Oxycodone 15 mg up to 4 times a day for pain. My doctor started me on 60 mg 2 times a day, then told me to double it. Still having some trouble with the withdrawals from Methadone, but I hope this will work. So far, it's okay. I am being treated for chronic pain from a laminectomy and spinal fusion without hardware (Failed Back Syndrome)."
