For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "July 4, I get my cycle. I am on it for 9 days. At this time, I go to the doctor. She prescribes me Provera. A day or two of taking it, and the cycle is gone. A week after I finished, my cycle is back, heavier than I have ever had and has been on for 8 days. I see no signs of it leaving. I went to the doctor, all they did was prescribe me Provera again. I don't want to take it because it is to bring your period. I don't need it to be brought on. I want it to go away. How long am I going to be bleeding after taking this medicine? It is like I am peeing on myself, and it is frustrating. Please help. I have never had any issues with long heavy cycles before, so I don't know what is going on."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've had PCOS since I was a teen, very irregular periods, Dr. says I don't ovulate. High school sweetheart and I got married, and we want children. It's very difficult having PCOS. Dr. prescribed Provera to induce a period. She said it would shed the lining and would be like starting 'new.' Took 1 pill a day for 7 days. Took 3 days to start my period after the last pill. I do not recommend this pill to anyone. I've had severe bleeding for several days and large blood clots. I soak through at least 2 super plus tampons an hour. It leaks so bad through the tampon I have to also wear pads. Pads have rubbed me raw, and the heavy bleeding and constant changing of tampons have made me raw from the top of my vagina to my butthole. I'm very weak and dizzy."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Been on this medication for nearly a week now. I am bleeding terribly, really bad cramping. I am 42 now, and I have had irregular periods for 3 years, but now it's a nightmare. It just feels like you are the only person going through this, it drags you down. Ladies, any idea how long these pills take to kick in to bring the bleeding to an end?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Just wanted to share my experience with Provera. I was prescribed 20 mg for 30 days. I had heavy bleeding with huge clots on the 4th day of taking Provera. I was bleeding for two weeks while on Provera, and then it stopped. Just give this medication the time, it works."

For Amenorrhea "The medication works by inducing a period. After taking this medicine, I had to take Clomid, and I conceived on my fourth round of medication. It works. Be patient, and good things will come. I am now trying again to conceive, and yes, I am taking Provera again, and I just started my first round of Clomid."

For Amenorrhea "I have taken this medication before. A couple of years ago, I went 9 months without a period, and I was prescribed this medication at 10 mg for 10 days. The 3rd day after the 10th pill, I had a normal period. More recently, I haven’t had a period for 16 months. I have PCOS. This is the 3rd round of 10 mg per 10 days, and nothing has made my period come. Starting to give up at this point. Super disappointed."

For Amenorrhea "Stopped seeing my periods for 5 months after using Oralcon contraceptives. I then went to a gynecologist, and they said I have one 4 cm fibroid. Then on the 6th month, I had my period, but it was super heavy. When I woke up in the morning, I couldn't walk, and when I sat on the bathroom seat, clots just fell out... like so many clots. Went to a doctor, I was given Provera to take for 10 days, and then after, I saw my periods. Today is my third day, and they are not heavy, hopefully, they stay like this. I have minor period cramps, but not so bad."

For Amenorrhea "I'm 22 and went 6 years without a cycle. Finally, the doctors prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days. It took 14 days to get my period, but it came. I was so relieved something finally worked! No side effects except my period, and that's what I wanted!"

For Amenorrhea "I’ve started taking Provera for having missed a period for a couple of months and trying to conceive. I’ve had irregular periods in the past on and off because the doctor told me I’m “somewhat polycystic.” I’ve taken the 10 mg for 10 days. While taking it, I felt moody, had acne breakouts, breast tenderness, and mild nausea. I started spotting on about day 4 after taking it. I’m now on day 6 and have SEVERE cramping to the point it hurts to breathe. I remember taking this in the past, and it made me have the worst period ever. I know the lining needs to shed, and when it does, it’s going to be sooooo heavy. Guess the pill does the trick, but just have to be ready for the pain :("

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I went to the OB because I had been bleeding for 6 months straight. Ultrasound showed nothing, no fibroids, nada. So they gave me Provera, and I have been on it for 5 days, and not a thing has happened. I feel like I am on Groundhog Day. I want this nightmare to stop, I just can't take this. I have no life, and I have lost so much weight, it is not funny, no matter how much I eat."

For Amenorrhea "I'm 26 years old and have always had irregular periods. Recently, I found out that I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and was prescribed Provera. I took it twice a day for 10 days and started bleeding about 3 days after they finished. I can honestly say it was the worst period I've ever had! It was very heavy, and I felt sick and dizzy. I was so emotional, and I never get any sort of PMS usually. My period also lasted for 10 days. It stopped on Sunday, and I'm bleeding again today (Thursday). Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My cycle has been on for over 3 months, so I went to the doctor. She prescribed Provera. The first day after starting the medication, I cramped (I'm not a cramper). The cramps stopped, but the bleeding never did. About two weeks on the pill, I started bleeding really heavily and passing too many clots, then I came to research. I wouldn't recommend this drug to anyone."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I went almost 3 months without a period. I should've known I was in for trouble, but I just let it slide until the day I started my period. I bled for 5 weeks non-stop. It was very heavy with lots of large clots. I went to the ER eventually, and the doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days. It was awesome for 10 days-almost no bleeding, just spotting here and there. I came off of Provera, and 2 days later, I'm bleeding 10 times worse and a lot more clots than I was before taking the drug. Something's got to give, I just want to be able to be normal again!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 31 years old. Since the birth of my first child, I've had very heavy, painful periods. Often irregular, as in a couple of times a month. But I have been bleeding for almost 5 months now. Three months ago, I was put on Provera 10 mg once a day. It lightened my bleeding after a few days, then I had brown discharge for a few days. But I started bleeding again even while taking the Provera. I first had a 10-day supply, then a 30-day supply, another 2 weeks, and now 2 more. But it has changed nothing. I'm bleeding and cramping nonstop and still have no answers. No fibroids, polyps, or cysts."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So my doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days, and it completely stopped the bleeding, thank God. Seven days later, I got my period with the worst cramps ever, and I was bleeding really heavily with lots of blood clots. It was so uncomfortable."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had a miscarriage at 14 weeks. I bled after that for 2 weeks and then stopped bleeding for 4 weeks. I then got my first period, which started out very light, then, 5 days later, I was bleeding so heavily and passing very large clots that I ended up going to the ER. They decided to do a D and C to stop the heavy bleeding, but I bled just as heavily after the D and C. So, after several trips to the ER, they gave me Provera. After taking one pill, my bleeding became very light and stayed that way for the last 2 days. Today, however, I did a short rowing workout (the first time I've exercised in 2 weeks), and the bleeding seemed to pick up a little bit, and a pretty big clot came out (I'm not sure if it was from before when I was bleeding heavily and it just worked its way out). I was wondering if the bleeding got worse for anyone else after exercise?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Provera has been a wonder drug for me. I have been taking it for about 4 years now. I have no more periods. They were so bad after I had my son 15 years ago. I couldn't function. This drug has been great for me. I will continue to take it as long as I can."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This medicine has been a complete life changer for me. Having heavy periods, 4 months nonstop bleeding, I am 40 years old. I was prescribed 10 milligrams for 10 days. If it wasn't for this medicine, my everyday life would be unbearable. Some drugs aren't for everyone. This one is by far the best. Everyone says it can cause cancer, it has bad side effects. Doesn't everything in life cause cancer and have bad side effects? This drug is so helpful for prolonged uterine bleeding. I would recommend this to anyone. This medicine saved me from a complete hysterectomy, so why everyone voices their opinions on it? Don't take it, go on and bleed and deal with it, and quit complaining about it. Maybe if it wasn't for the stress in your life, your periods would be regular."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I always had regular periods and never took contraceptives & have no kids. I took Spironolactone for severe acne at age 49 and I had non-stop bleeding/spotting for nearly 2 months afterwards. The bleeding got worse and terrible cramps started. I have anemia and also a large fibroid. Ended up in the emergency room. Provera 10mg 3 times a day & Tranexamic acid 500mg 3 times 2 tablets were prescribed. I did not take Provera at first because I was worried, it's another hormone pill. A day later, I noticed Tranexamic only works for 8 hours and if the next dose comes late, I bled heavily again. So, I started taking Provera. Miraculously, within 3.5 days, the bleeding stopped. Side effects were reasonable: cramps, headache. I read all reviews before taking Provera and saw a 35% chance. I am glad I took the pill because it worked for me. I found a common negative review. All women stated they never had regular periods and they were on and off contraceptive pills before the irregular bleeding. I feel for all women who go through this, it is awful!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Age 50. Provera was the worst for me. Heavy nonstop bleeding for a month. Took Megace. Per doc, waited a week. Now on Provera. Provera caused the following: anxiety, my blood pressure went up, cramping, huge bloating, ovarian cyst rupture. Into my second round of 10 mg for 10 days. Hate it. I am going back to ask for birth control pills. Anything to right my cycle that doesn't make me crazy."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "The first time I took Provera, it worked great for 3-4 years and made me regular. I had gone to the ER for heavy bleeding and clotting. The second time I went to the ER was earlier this year (2015) for the same reason. Provera slowed it down, passed clots, and then I spotted here and there. Just recently, mid-July, I started having heavy bleeding again, and the docs couldn't give me answers as to why, but put me on Provera again. It didn't do anything this time. It slowed it down on Day 1-Day 3 on it, and then after, and especially when I finished Provera, I was bleeding very heavily. The doc said that's to be expected and have to wait it out and just wait for my ultrasound. I'm so sick of all this bleeding and even more so not getting any answers/treatment."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 20 years old. I got prescribed Provera (10 mg), one pill a day for 10 days. I began my period on June 28, and it’s now September 16, 2019. I’ve been to three doctors. The first gave me birth control, it was the Enskyce brand and I was on it for three weeks. I started this birth control hoping it would make my period stop, but it didn’t. Then I went for a second opinion and went to a different doctor, and she sent me to get blood work and a pelvic ultrasound. Everything came out fine. I was still not satisfied, so I went to a third doctor. She was the one who gave me Provera. She was a midwife doctor, and she went over my lab results and sent me to get extra lab work done, which tested prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone, and testosterone levels. Those results came out fine, and she said that being on Provera was the last thing she could think of to stop my bleeding. My period didn’t stop until the seventh day of taking it. After stopping the pill, my period began two days later."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 22, and I had my period for 5 weeks straight, so I went to the doctor, and they told me I lost so much blood I had to get a blood transfusion. Then they put me on Provera 10 mg 3 times a day for 2 months. At first, it stopped the bleeding for a month, but then the Provera stopped working, so my doctor switched me to birth control, and that doesn't work either. I've been bleeding for a month now. I don't know what to do."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have abnormal uterine bleeding, and after bleeding for 2 months straight, I was given Provera 2x before it actually worked. On top of it all, it took almost 5 days to fully stop my bleeding. Thank God I stopped bleeding, but I still have cramps. It’s been exactly 17 days that I have not bled. But now I’m wondering my pills are almost done. What's going to happen to me? Am I going to start bleeding heavily again? Is it going to never stop again? I’m so afraid of what will happen when I’m done with Provera. Ugh!!!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started taking Provera January 7th because I had 3 different periods in the month of December, regular (changed every 2-3 hrs), to light (barely noticed it, changed every 4-5 hrs), to extremely heavy with huge clots (literally changed every time I stood up because there would be a gush of blood). I was told to take it for about 2 weeks and that I would have a period afterward. I stopped bleeding, but I got my period a couple of days before the 2 weeks were up. The side effects I've had are nausea (seriously sick to my stomach, the mere thought of food almost made me regurgitate), and my body was extremely sore, and it made me tired. I still have pills, and honestly, I'm not sure if I should still be taking it, but I guess the pills work."
