For Amenorrhea "Taking Provera was the worst decision I ever made. My period was very heavy. I was told by my OBGYN that it was going to delay my period, but it made me worse than I was before taking it. Day 5 of my period and still a heavy flow. Still have pain. I found out after taking it I will have another period 3-7 days after having a 10-day cycle. I can’t have this much bleeding."

For Amenorrhea "So I was prescribed Provera because I haven’t had my period in over a year, and I had to take it for 5 days. I’m not sure of the dose, I think 5 or 10. I started on the 24th of July and stopped on the 28th. During the 5 days, I was getting like PMS and light cramping. After I stopped, it took me 6 days to finally get my period, and it was heavy. Like SUPER heavy. My periods are usually heavy, so it didn’t really faze me, and so were my cramps, but it’s horrible when you haven't had a period in a while, you kind of forget the pain. So I’m almost on day 9 of my period, and the flow is still going strong. I’m worried it won’t ever stop. My cramps are so bad it radiates to my back and down my legs, and it is constant all day, I don’t know what to do. My emotions are all over the place as well, I get in an uncontrollable rage and extremely sad throughout the day. Hopefully, it stops."

For Amenorrhea "During the ten days on Provera, I was emotional, my boobs hurt severely, my face broke out like crazy, and I had horrible fatigue. Two days after the 10 days of taking Provera, I have the worst period I have ever had in my entire life. Having to change my pad/tampon every single hour was disgusting, I couldn't even enjoy a shower because even afterward I still bled nonstop. Each day that passes, the heavier my period gets. Today is my 6th day, and 4, 5, & 6 were heavy as hell, but 5 & 6 had excruciating cramps. And too many blood clots! :( I do not recommend this pill at all."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Just turned 40. Never had issues with my cycle. This time around I had a huge gap between periods, my period came on day 67! And it has lasted 35 days and is still going strong. Had blood work, a pap, and an internal vaginal ultrasound, all 100% normal. Started Medroxyprogesterone. Was told to take 10 mg twice a day until bleeding stopped. It’s now been 15 days and still no sign of stopping. The first few days, it slowed down but then went back to a heavy flow. I’m going in for a D&C in the next week. I’m just so confused as to why this drug has worked to stop everyone else’s bleeding but not mine."

For Endometrial Hyperplasia, Prophylaxis "I am a 64-year-old woman who is 15 years post-menopausal. A polyp was removed from my cervix. I had an ultrasound of the uterus with a biopsy. The biopsy came back okay, and the lining of the uterus measurement was 15. Ultrasound showed probably a polyp. I had a hysteroscopy with D&C and the removal of a polyp. The gynecologist would like to do a hysterectomy. Since my test results came back as simple hyperplasia, my insurance questioned that suggestion. I was put on Provera 10 mg for the protocol of 90 days. I repeated the ultrasound and biopsy. Ten days after taking Provera, I started spotting light bleeding. A week later, I had a heavy period with large clots. My doctor prescribed Lysteda for 5 days, blood work, then back on Provera. No thank you. I am exhausted! I am struggling with my concentration, worrying about being able to change my pads before leakage, and feeling tired and weak, with headaches and chills. I won't take Provera or Lysteda. I am done with my uterus and had all this trouble. I don't want any more drugs. Hysterectomy time!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm 42 years old. I'm diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I've been struggling with this for 20 years, right after I had my son. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I went to the doctor because I had constant bleeding, spotting, cramps, etc. The GYN made some tests, and I got polyps on the upper side of my uterus. I went for surgery and got them out. To reduce the bleeding, the doctor prescribed Provera. I took the pill as told, got my period after 7 days. The first days were fine, but the last 5 of them were heavy, with clots... It was horrible, but it helped me to stop the abnormal bleeding. Before the treatment, I was very depressed, just by not being able to leave the house without a pad was stressful. Now, I can have my life back!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was 21, my periods are very irregular. Been to the gynae on July 27, 2020, since I hadn't gotten my period since December 2019. He prescribed Provera for 7 days, and I got my period about 3 days later, with lots of pain and a heavy flow. It did stop on day 7 of my period, though. Came August and September, my period came normally without the help of Provera. However, I didn't get it in October and November, and the pregnancy test was negative. So I decided to go see the doctor again, and yet again he prescribed Provera, but this time along with Fertomid (to be taken on days 3-7 of the period). I didn't get my period after 4 days of my last Provera pill. This time it was very light. So, as instructed, I took Fertomid on Day 3 of my period, and it's already Day 10, and I'm still bleeding. Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really appreciate it."

For Renal Cell Carcinoma "I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome after thinking I was pregnant because I hadn't had a cycle in 4 months. My OB ran tests and found I had a hormonal disorder, PCOS, and to force a period prescribed me Provera once a month for 10 days. It made me have all the regular PMS symptoms, but I also have experienced prolonged, heavy flow."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was on the depo-Provera injection for three years. By the end of my second year, I noticed that my cycle only came down 4 times out of that whole year, so I decided to get off depo. From December to May, I didn’t have a cycle at all. I went to the doctor and got prescribed Provera for 5 days to get a period. My cycle finally came down, and I’ve been bleeding 4 weeks straight. Provera makes your cycle flow heavier and makes it last longer. I do not recommend."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 49 years old and going through perimenopause for about 5 years. I have fibroids. I went 168 days without a period, then my period came in May for 14 days with large clots. From 6 months up until November, my period came every 50-54 days lasting 14 days. In November, 2 days before my 49th birthday, my period comes, but this time it lasted 3 weeks. Went to see an MD, and he prescribed medroprogesterone 10 mg for 20 days to stop the bleeding and regulate my period. 5 days in, it slowed it down, but at this point, I was heading into my next cycle while on the pill, so the period got heavier. I go for an ultrasound next month, so hopefully, they can tell me what's going on. I want to exercise and be normal again. Exercise makes it worse. Good luck to everyone that is going through this same situation."

"I took three 10 mg of Provera to delay my period for a holiday for 7 days. I spotted 4 out of the 7 days, and as soon as I stopped taking it, I have felt awful. My period has so far lasted 9 days. I have had very heavy periods with lots of clots and have felt fatigue and general depression, and my anxiety has been the worst it has ever been! Never again will I ever take these pills again, it is not worth the mess I am in today."

For Amenorrhea "I took Provera for 10 days at a dose of 10mg a day, prescribed by my fertility doctor with intentions to induce my period. My period was always regular up until recently. The side effects while on this drug were some pretty bad mood swings, mild cramps on and off, and breast soreness. A week after the dose ended and I still hadn’t gotten my period. Lo and behold, it arrived this morning. Thanks to this drug, we can now continue our fertility journey. Have patience - it can really work. Now I’ve got a heavy period with horrid cramps - but it’s worth it!"
