For Amenorrhea "Didn't have a period for 1.5 years - was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and hypothyroidism. As hubby and I have been trying to conceive, not having any periods has been difficult to judge any ovulation. Was put on Provera to induce a period before the doctor prescribes any ovulation medicines. Took Provera for 10 days, didn't have any side effects. But after I stopped, I felt nauseous, breasts were very sensitive, was over emotional/very irritable, and a bit dizzy at times. Had light spotting on day 3 and 4 after stopping Provera, then period starting on day 5. Day 5 and 6 were light-medium, but then afterwards was extremely heavy for 2-3 days with really bad cramping."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I took Provera 5 mg for abnormal uterine bleeding. Basically, my period went on for almost three weeks. I went to the hospital (had an ultrasound & everything was fine). They told me to take the pills for 7 days once a day. I took 2 a day for 3 days & the last pill on the 4th day. I'm a heavyset girl, so 10 mg wouldn’t have hurt me. The first day I took them, I took them in the morning & by the afternoon, the bleeding stopped. Throughout my taking the medication, I had no bleeding. Three days after the last pill was taken, my period came on. I just woke up one morning & I was spotting. By that night, I was bleeding very heavily. I wanna say the heaviest I have ever been, but most of it was blood clots. All sizes. That went on for about 5 days, then the 6th morning it almost instantly stopped. I was spotting very lightly & by that night it completely stopped. I’m a 20-year-old, by the way. I have not been diagnosed with PCOS or anything of the sort."

For Amenorrhea "I was on Depo-Provera injection for 7 years, came off the injection and was missing my menstrual cycle for 7 months to follow. Husband & I are TTC, so OBGYN put me on Provera 10 mg x 7 days to strike my cycle. I had brown spotting lightly on day 6 and 7 after stopping Provera, thought it didn’t work properly, called my doctor and got worried. Actual flow didn’t come until day 16 after stopping Provera. The period was moderate, nothing extreme, and lasted 3 days. We’re not quite sure if it was a Provera withdrawal bleed or my body getting back into function, but needless to say, it did something! Now hoping and waiting for a positive ovulation test! Be advised - it can take up to 3 weeks for a withdrawal bleed from Provera, give it some time!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I went almost 3 months without a period. I should've known I was in for trouble, but I just let it slide until the day I started my period. I bled for 5 weeks non-stop. It was very heavy with lots of large clots. I went to the ER eventually, and the doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days. It was awesome for 10 days-almost no bleeding, just spotting here and there. I came off of Provera, and 2 days later, I'm bleeding 10 times worse and a lot more clots than I was before taking the drug. Something's got to give, I just want to be able to be normal again!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "The first time I took Provera, it worked great for 3-4 years and made me regular. I had gone to the ER for heavy bleeding and clotting. The second time I went to the ER was earlier this year (2015) for the same reason. Provera slowed it down, passed clots, and then I spotted here and there. Just recently, mid-July, I started having heavy bleeding again, and the docs couldn't give me answers as to why, but put me on Provera again. It didn't do anything this time. It slowed it down on Day 1-Day 3 on it, and then after, and especially when I finished Provera, I was bleeding very heavily. The doc said that's to be expected and have to wait it out and just wait for my ultrasound. I'm so sick of all this bleeding and even more so not getting any answers/treatment."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I took Provera 10 mg pills at the beginning of August for 10 days. Like 3 days later, I started spotting. 4 days later, the spotting got a little heavy with clots but never the regular flow of the menstruation cycle. Long story short, I've been bleeding lightly for the past two weeks, and I’m beyond annoyed."

For Endometrial Hyperplasia, Prophylaxis "After bleeding vaginally very heavily for 12 weeks, I was finally diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia and put on 5 mg Provera once a day. I'm supposed to take it for 6 months and then go back for another biopsy. It took about 3 weeks, but the bleeding stopped. But only for about 2 weeks. Then it started back. It's not as heavy as it was, but I'm still steadily bleeding! It's been another 4 weeks now. My doctor just isn't listening. He just keeps saying, 'Some spotting can be expected during what would be your normal cycle...' This is NOT JUST spotting, and it doesn't stop!! I don't know if I'm not taking enough, since I'm seeing a lot of people have been prescribed 10 mg/twice a day, or what, but he won't increase my dosage, so I don't know what else to do. I'm just so sick of bleeding!!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm 42 years old. I'm diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I've been struggling with this for 20 years, right after I had my son. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I went to the doctor because I had constant bleeding, spotting, cramps, etc. The GYN made some tests, and I got polyps on the upper side of my uterus. I went for surgery and got them out. To reduce the bleeding, the doctor prescribed Provera. I took the pill as told, got my period after 7 days. The first days were fine, but the last 5 of them were heavy, with clots... It was horrible, but it helped me to stop the abnormal bleeding. Before the treatment, I was very depressed, just by not being able to leave the house without a pad was stressful. Now, I can have my life back!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "OMG! I was freaking out because after the 10 days of Provera 10 mg I took, I thought I would be okay, but after 2 days of taking the 10-day treatment, my period is like running water. Even when I was in my heavy days, I would never wake up to a stained bed, and this morning it was soaking. I don't have many clots, and the ones I have are small, but my period lasts for 7 days, and today is my 6th day and still going heavy. I hope it goes away by the 7th day. For sure, I'm going to stop taking any vitamins and any pills I take that could probably make my period even more heavy, just until this period goes away. Oh, it has many side effects, mine were pimples, headache, sleepiness, spotting, and shortness of breath. I really hope after this period my next ones are light, after all, it's like a period cleanser."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Ok, I went on this 10 mg 2x a day for about 4 weeks now. I needed to start because I hemorrhaged so bad in a single day my hemoglobin dropped from 12 to 9, and then to 8 as I continued to hemorrhage for 2 weeks after. As a result of hemorrhaging, I could not breathe, my heart was racing from dehydration, and my body used all of my iron and ferritin, and then started destroying bone marrow to try and make hemoglobin. I started Provera when my hematologist started ferritin infusions and was afraid any bleeding would kill me. This medication causes me shortness of breath, a racing heart, rashes, lethargy, vomiting, muscle pain; oh, and I have been spotting since I started it! I feel worse than when I was literally dying before taking it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was prescribed Provera to take 10 mg for 14 days and then off for 14 days each month. I had abnormal uterine bleeding, which was due to having hyperplasia. This medication is supposed to thin out the uterine lining. The first time I took it, I had some cramping and spotting but never had a period. This second time around, I had some cramping with 2 days of a light to moderate flow, but nothing heavy. I'm still in my 14 days off on the second trial and have had no other bleeding besides the 2 days, so I am not sure if this medication is working or not for me, so I called the OB-GYN and she told me to continue with the medication, so I guess we will see. Has anyone else experienced it work like this before?"

For Amenorrhea "I was given this pill to take because I stopped having a period for 6 months. Put me on this for 10 days, and the very first day of taking a pill, I spotted. Then light period for 5 days. Then the next month, no period. So started taking the pills again. Not till the LAST pill was there blood. It was light at first for 3 days, now I have been bleeding so heavy non-stop! I’ve been bleeding 10 days straight! Is something wrong? Called my doctor, and they were “busy,” said call back. Never did. I can’t stand that office."

For Amenorrhea "I always had my regular period, but last year in 2020, I missed by 1 month and restarted naturally. Last month, I had protected sex and missed my period. Although it was confirmed that everything was okay, I was still scared as I missed my period for 10 days. I took 5 home pregnancy tests, all of which came negative, and went to the gynecologist. She advised me to take Provera 10 mg, 2 times for 5 days. As per her, periods should come within 3 days, if not, wait for more 7 days, else I had to do an ultrasound. I took the med as advised. Each day looked like ages for me. On the 4th day of my pill and on the 2nd day after taking the last pill, I had spotting. On the 3rd day after the last pill, Aunt Flo came. *sigh of relief*"

For Endometriosis "I have been on Provera 10 mg for almost 3 months now. My first monthly period was painful and heavy. My second was regular, plus I clotted a lot. With my 3rd cycle, I only spotted off and on for 3 days. I haven't seen a cycle since. Besides the cramps and the spotting every now and then, I highly recommend this medicine. I have to take Provera 10 mg daily for 6 months to remove precancerous cells off my uterus. I have a 12-year-old son, and now my husband and I are praying for another child, which will be his first biological child. Has anyone besides me missed a cycle while on Provera? I have taken two home pregnancy tests a week apart, and they both said the same thing (negative)."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This drug is horrible. I have PCOS, and I was spotting with some medium bleeding since May. When October came and my spotting didn't stop, my OBGYN suggested Provera (10 mg/twice a day), and at first, it stopped it for like a day. Then I started bleeding profusely, soaking through heavy-duty pads every hour, couldn't work, horrible cramps that left me in a fetal position, and I have even lost my appetite. I have headaches, and the bleeding is so bad that it wakes me up throughout the night, and I have blood clots galore every time I use the bathroom. It is a nightmare that I wish I will wake up from. I am going on my third straight week of this, and it's miserable. If anything, Provera has made my symptoms worse."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I don't like such pills that can lead someone to the ER and cause a low HB count. I have been bleeding for almost a year and went to the doctor. They prescribed 10 mg of a pill to be taken for 10 days and said it would stop the bleeding. They also mentioned that after 3 to 7 days from the last pill, there might be breakthrough bleeding. During the first 3 days, I experienced spotting, but after the 3rd day, the bleeding increased along with a few clots. I reported this to the doctor, and they advised me to increase the dose to 20 mg. However, when I switched to 20 mg per day, the situation worsened, and I started bleeding with clots the size of lemons, requiring me to change pads every 5 to 6 days. The doctor then suggested taking 40 mg if the bleeding continued to increase, but they couldn't guarantee that it would reduce the bleeding. This caused me to panic, and I was unsure whether to increase the dose. I waited for the doctor and informed them about the large clots and excessive bleeding, which was causing fatigue. They requested a blood count test, and the results showed that my RBC count had dropped to 3.12 and HB to 8.5. Any further decrease would have resulted in an anemic condition."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I’m 23 years old. I have been having abnormal uterine bleeding. Bleeding heavily for 6 days and went to the hospital. Did a scan, abdominal and transvaginal, but it was fine, so I was placed on a depo shot (an injection that covers you for up to 3 months). The second month I didn’t see blood, but the 3rd month I bled all throughout. I went back to the hospital, and I was given another dose of the injection on December 10. Still spotting very lightly, though, but not every day. Today is the 30th, I’m still spotting. Hope it gets better."

For Birth Control "My last normal cycle was the 23rd of March 2017. On the 10th of April, I started spotting, on the 11th, it stopped. Then I started spotting on the 14th, then it stopped on the 15th, then started bleeding on the 18th of April until the month ending, very heavy and lots of clots. I went to the clinic and then they sent me for an ultrasound and blood test. I didn't have the money to do these, so the following week I checked myself into the emergency room at the hospital. They gave me Provera to stop the bleeding, which stopped in 5 days of taking 2 pills 3 times a day. The scans came back negative for any growths. I started bleeding again on the 24th, now taking Provera prescribed at 2 pills 2 times a day. It's day 5, still bleeding from the 24th. I'm so tired..."
