For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 31 years old. Since the birth of my first child, I've had very heavy, painful periods. Often irregular, as in a couple of times a month. But I have been bleeding for almost 5 months now. Three months ago, I was put on Provera 10 mg once a day. It lightened my bleeding after a few days, then I had brown discharge for a few days. But I started bleeding again even while taking the Provera. I first had a 10-day supply, then a 30-day supply, another 2 weeks, and now 2 more. But it has changed nothing. I'm bleeding and cramping nonstop and still have no answers. No fibroids, polyps, or cysts."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So my doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days, and it completely stopped the bleeding, thank God. Seven days later, I got my period with the worst cramps ever, and I was bleeding really heavily with lots of blood clots. It was so uncomfortable."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Age 50. Provera was the worst for me. Heavy nonstop bleeding for a month. Took Megace. Per doc, waited a week. Now on Provera. Provera caused the following: anxiety, my blood pressure went up, cramping, huge bloating, ovarian cyst rupture. Into my second round of 10 mg for 10 days. Hate it. I am going back to ask for birth control pills. Anything to right my cycle that doesn't make me crazy."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have abnormal uterine bleeding, and after bleeding for 2 months straight, I was given Provera 2x before it actually worked. On top of it all, it took almost 5 days to fully stop my bleeding. Thank God I stopped bleeding, but I still have cramps. It’s been exactly 17 days that I have not bled. But now I’m wondering my pills are almost done. What's going to happen to me? Am I going to start bleeding heavily again? Is it going to never stop again? I’m so afraid of what will happen when I’m done with Provera. Ugh!!!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 56 years old. I have not had a period in 10 years. Last month I started again. Extremely heavy flow for 2 weeks. Had a vaginal ultrasound and found no signs of cancer. Yesterday I started again, today I started taking Provera. I am hoping it stops the bleeding. Heavy bleeding, cramps (front and lower back), and clots."

For Amenorrhea "Stopped taking it 2 weeks ago. I've had cramps, backache, a huge zit on my face. I am 50 in December. Haven't had a period in a year. My gynecologist gave me Provera due to a thicker than normal lining. Don't know what's next? Just want some relief. I'm so bloated it's not even funny. Look pregnant. This medicine didn't work for me."

For Amenorrhea "I'm 18 and had very regular periods every month for 4 years, and they stopped for no reason. Played the wait game, and before I knew it, 3 whole years had passed. 5-day, 10 mg Provera challenge starting July 1st, and on July 9th, 4 days after my last pill, got my period. Not a terrible period for me like everyone else. A little heavy, mild cramping, but my periods used to be worse. Also, does anybody know if it's true if my periods come back on their own after 3 Provera cycles? Read that in a few places, but I don't know if it's true."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was put on Provera for abnormal bleeding due to uterine fibroids. It didn't help with the bleeding, only made it worse. I had clotting the size of a golf ball and bad cramping...was told by the nurse it can take up to 10 days for it to work, well, I was on it for 14 days and nothing changed."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 39 years old. My whole life, I had normal periods. Some months, the cramping was awful, but they were regular, same time every month. Then, about 2 years ago, they began coming earlier every month. I was having 1, twice a month. I saw my gyno 5 months ago (July), who did an ultrasound and said it all looked normal. I was back in October, the bleeding was getting worse. He prescribed Provera 10 mg once a day to start. When I began bleeding again, he said it would stop the bleeding, so I did as instructed and bled for 10 days straight. It stopped only to return 9 days later for another 9 days, stopped for a week, then started again the 17th of this month (November). This time, it started brown in color. It is the 30th, STILL bleeding."

For Amenorrhea "I was prescribed this drug, Provera, due to not having a period for several months and wanting to get pregnant. I was given a 10-day supply, and I had painful stomach aches. So bad that I didn’t take it the last 2 days. My period came just a few days later, and it was not heavy but pretty normal. Around the 4th day, my cramps became unbearable. Never experienced such pain before. The doctor wants me to continue to use this drug if I don’t see my period again next month. I’m not sure I can go through with it again."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Well, I have been prescribed this medication before, and I have had to go through blood clots and heavy cramps. But this time it's even heavier cramps and blood clots, and using about 20 pads in 2 to 3 days. I feel so weak, and it feels gross to even move or go anywhere in public. I'm also taking ibuprofen every 3 to 4 hours. What do y'all prefer for taking for the pain? Thank you, everyone, for your input. Have a great day."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm 62 and have had spotty bleeding for the last 12 years, after menopause had definitely set in. Recently, the bleeding has intensified with cramps and small clots. Obviously, something is wrong, but I need to get the bleeding under control first. The doctor prescribed Provera 10 mg once daily for 10 days. It seemed to stop the bleeding if I took it to the exact hour every day, but if I missed a dose by a couple of hours, then bleeding again. So, I doubled the dose and started taking 1 tablet every 12-18 hours, which helped, mostly. The cramps have lessened but not disappeared. And I've had a dull headache for a week, with some relief as time goes on. How long am I going to have to take this drug so I can stop wearing a pad? Yuck."

For Amenorrhea "Back in 2011, I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility and prescribed Provera to induce a period and Clomid to force ovulation. We were coming to the end of my medications, and I was told I’d be referred for IVF as it wasn’t working. I took the last dosages of medications, and now I have an 8-year-old daughter because of them! Currently on day 6 of a 10-day prescription again, as I’ve not had a period in nearly a year, and I have now been diagnosed with PCOS. Starting to feel cramps and am finding that I’m quite easily agitated."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 24, and I went on Provera on the 25th of last month because I was bleeding since the 5th of September and soaking through my pads every two to three hours. For me, Provera slowed down my period and stopped it for three days, and now I'm just bleeding all over again, still bleeding through a pad in about one to one and a half hours now, and it hurts worse. I have cramping, bloating, nausea, and clots that are much bigger, about the size of a golf ball, and I have been clotting ever since I started bleeding again. I had blood work done, it came out normal. Next is an ultrasound, and after that is a pelvic exam. I need help, not more issues. I started bleeding on the 2nd of October, not even a day after my last pill, and I've been getting dizzy and lightheaded."

For Amenorrhea "I am 24 years old and on my 8th day of taking the pill. I cannot wait until it is over. I was ordered to take the pill because I want to see why I wasn't having a period, which was abnormal for me. I haven't had a period in four months, though I was always regular. The doctor said there was no harm in me not having a period and that it was probably caused by the birth control shot I had three years before, but I should take the pills just to see what happens. The pills seem to have made my PMS worse. That includes menstrual cramps, cravings, fatigue, and moodiness. They were more horrible when I first started the pill and have calmed down a little now, but the symptoms are still there."

For Amenorrhea "I hadn’t had my period since July 11, my doctor prescribed me Provera at the end of October. I had withdrawal bleeding for a week but didn’t get a period. Even 14 days after taking the medicine, my doctor prescribed me birth control pills to get my period. I took one pill, and the next day I got severe abdominal pain, vaginal pain, and cramping. I could not walk. I cried for hours and kept taking pain pills. The day after that, I started spotting, and 6 days after that, a full-blown period."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm 42 years old. I'm diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I've been struggling with this for 20 years, right after I had my son. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I went to the doctor because I had constant bleeding, spotting, cramps, etc. The GYN made some tests, and I got polyps on the upper side of my uterus. I went for surgery and got them out. To reduce the bleeding, the doctor prescribed Provera. I took the pill as told, got my period after 7 days. The first days were fine, but the last 5 of them were heavy, with clots... It was horrible, but it helped me to stop the abnormal bleeding. Before the treatment, I was very depressed, just by not being able to leave the house without a pad was stressful. Now, I can have my life back!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So I finished my 10 treatment on the 13th of this month. Let me start by saying, oh my goodness. I really thought something was wrong with me, the cramping - the cramping was horrible, extremely painful. I missed a day of work, it was so bad. Then the bleeding, like I couldn't believe I had this much. I had to buy a second box of tampons and pads. Ughhhh. I'm on my 9th day of bleeding, and it's flowing like a faucet. I am just ready for it to go off. My goodness."

For Amenorrhea "I am 20 years old and have had an irregular period my whole life. It was recently discovered that I have PCOS. I was placed on Provera for five days to essentially kick-start my period. Well, it worked. Two days after taking the last pill, I had a normal period start. Now the last three days have been extremely heavy flow with strong cramping and some nausea."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Went to the OB in Oct 2018 for abnormal uterine bleeding. Dec 2018, they prescribed 10 mg Provera for 14 days. OB suggested I start 1-1-19 until 1-14 (easy to remember). OB said while taking the medication to call for any bleeding. Day 4, I started bleeding. Told me to stop it. 3 days in, I bled through pads every 2-3 hours. I'm never heavy. Go to ER, ultrasound, everything looks 'fine' (thick lining). Made a follow-up appointment. My OB quit, I had to switch OBs. The new OB says to try the Provera again but at a higher dose, 20 mg. Told if bleeding to continue taking the Provera for the 14 days. I hadn't taken the Provera since Jan 4th. The Provera made me bleed for over 20 days. Prior to Feb 1st, the bleeding stopped. I called. OB told me to take the Provera anyway. I'm not bleeding anymore. Took it still. 2-1 to 2-12, no bleeding. Cramps, awful. Breasts hurt. On the 13th, I started bleeding. I hadn't even taken the last dose. Bled heavily for 20 days afterward again. Still spotting, 3-1. Now has me taking 20 mg every day. 3-11, having a period while taking it."

For Amenorrhea "I was on the depo-Provera for 3 months, and after the treatment was over, I didn’t get my period for 11 months. To try and induce a period, I got prescribed 10 Provera pills of 10 mg. I did all 10 (the side effects were so bad I would get mood swings and bad cramps), and after 3 weeks, I got my regular period back only for 2 months, and now I am back to no period."

For Amenorrhea "I've been having irregular periods for about a year since I got off birth control, but this year I had a 7-week gap of no period and no signs of one. Went to OB and she said I had secondary amenorrhea, prescribed Provera 10 mg for 10 days for 3 months. I took it and instantly started bleeding about 30 minutes later. Worst cramps of my life and heaviest bleeding I've ever experienced. Only on day 3, so not sure if it will get better or worse but hoping for the best. It did induce a period for me almost immediately, which was necessary, however, the side effects are really bad so far and I don't know if it will help long term for me."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got a Novasure ablation 5 years ago because of the heavy bleeding and having to change pads and tampons every hour. The gush feeling after changing while conducting a 15 min. meeting was unbearable. The ablation was the best thing ever until... I started bleeding again. My Dr. put me on Provera 2x daily for 7 days following 1x daily for 7 days. One day passed after completing the prescription, and the heavy bleeding with huge clots, worse than prior to the ablation, along with severe cramping, similar to contractions, is making me regret ever taking this drug. I'm on day 3 of heavy bleeding, severe cramping, terrible bloating that I have never experienced before. I'm feeling discouraged reading that some women bled heavily for more than 2 wks."

For Amenorrhea "I took the Depo shot for a year and a half. I got off 5 years ago and still have had irregular periods, which isn't normal for me. After seeing an OB-GYN, she just told me to wait around and change my diet. Six months later, I'm still not having regular cycles. So I changed my OB-GYN, and I love her to pieces! She told me that she'll put me on the Provera 5-day challenge. I started yesterday, upon taking the pill, I already felt PMS symptoms, especially cramping. I'll update later as I'm going into my third day."
