For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Provera 60 mg per day was prescribed to me to control uterine bleeding while on warfarin for a PE. It did not stop the bleeding ever, only reduced it. And like someone already said it here, a day after stopping taking it, the bleeding became constant as if someone turned on a tap. Very scary. For me, this drug did not do what it's supposed to do."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So I finished my 10 treatment on the 13th of this month. Let me start by saying, oh my goodness. I really thought something was wrong with me, the cramping - the cramping was horrible, extremely painful. I missed a day of work, it was so bad. Then the bleeding, like I couldn't believe I had this much. I had to buy a second box of tampons and pads. Ughhhh. I'm on my 9th day of bleeding, and it's flowing like a faucet. I am just ready for it to go off. My goodness."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So I started using Provera 2 years ago to help with my heavy periods. Heavy clots would have to change my pad every 30 minutes, and this would last for 2 months. I got a pelvic scan, they couldn't find anything. They said it's me being overweight, 120 kg, and having imbalanced hormones. So the docs prescribed me Provera 10 mg 3 times a day, alongside Tranexamic acid, 1 pill every 8 hours. It made my periods go light each day, then eventually stopped. Some months I missed them, would get normal periods. So it's 2021, and yes, back to heavy periods again. This time it's lasting 3 months, and it is making me feel really weak. Lately I have been taking the same thing: Provera 10 mg 3 times a day with Tranexamic acid, 1 pill every 8 hours. It hasn't worked, still heavy bleeding. I am getting pains now. The docs then prescribed me 2 Provera 20 mg 3 times a day. It's day 2 now, it sort of calmed down my period. It's a medium flow, a little bit heavy. Just being patient and see how this goes, and waiting for a 2nd pelvic scan."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Went to the OB in Oct 2018 for abnormal uterine bleeding. Dec 2018, they prescribed 10 mg Provera for 14 days. OB suggested I start 1-1-19 until 1-14 (easy to remember). OB said while taking the medication to call for any bleeding. Day 4, I started bleeding. Told me to stop it. 3 days in, I bled through pads every 2-3 hours. I'm never heavy. Go to ER, ultrasound, everything looks 'fine' (thick lining). Made a follow-up appointment. My OB quit, I had to switch OBs. The new OB says to try the Provera again but at a higher dose, 20 mg. Told if bleeding to continue taking the Provera for the 14 days. I hadn't taken the Provera since Jan 4th. The Provera made me bleed for over 20 days. Prior to Feb 1st, the bleeding stopped. I called. OB told me to take the Provera anyway. I'm not bleeding anymore. Took it still. 2-1 to 2-12, no bleeding. Cramps, awful. Breasts hurt. On the 13th, I started bleeding. I hadn't even taken the last dose. Bled heavily for 20 days afterward again. Still spotting, 3-1. Now has me taking 20 mg every day. 3-11, having a period while taking it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm 43 years old and clotting and bleeding now for 14 days. In 2008, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I haven't had a period for years, and then all of a sudden, out of the blue, I start to clot. Big, like golf balls. Didn't leave the home at all, sometimes the clot was so big it would come down my leg. The first time I went to the ER, I had a few tests done. I also had a vaginal ultrasound, they found 2 big fibroids. I was told a normal lining of the uterus is 2 mm, mine was 9 mm. I was given tranexamic acid, 500 mg, it stopped the clots. I only had it for 5 days. As soon as I was done, the clotting came back. Then I was put on Apo Medroxy 10 mg. So far, so good."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "About a month ago, my grandma, who I was close to, died. Due to a plethora of issues that happened around the same exact time, my body was completely put through the wringer. I started my period early, it stopped the day of the funeral, after sobbing for days on end and not sleeping, and then now it's back in full force after taking one tablet. I was gushing blood so fast that the toilet was filled with blood, soaked through my pants within an hour at work, heading to the ER with pains in my ovaries, stabbing so hard I thought I was going to pass out. Now, bleeding is still severe and still hasn't stopped five days in. I cannot take one more dose. I have now been on my period for a month, and nothing is helping. I woke up with debilitating pain, stabbing so, so bad near my ovaries, I almost went to the ER. I haven't been able to leave my bed since. I have been curled up in a fetal position, and the gas and pain and bloating are so severe that I look pregnant."

"So I was prescribed oral Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for abnormal uterine bleeding due to uterine fibroids. For the first few days, I feel like it kind of helped the bleeding, but overall in the 2 months that I took it, my bleeding got 100% worse. I would highly recommend to anyone who has uterine fibroids to NOT take this med. Progesterone, along with estrogen, feed fibroids, making them grow and making symptoms worse (I found this out later), therefore, I believe it's not a good choice for fibroid symptoms. I hope this can help women in the future because I wish my doctor would have never given it to me!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've had non-stop period for 37 days. Was put on ten days of Provera, slowed bleeding down. Finished meds, period became full-blown again. Went nine days, no relief, got back on meds for another ten days, day 6 seems to be slowing. Lo and behold, this afternoon full force bleeding, clots and all. I'm 62 years old, went two years with no periods, thought I was done but no, here we are worse than ever. I see OB/GYN on Monday, I pray for relief soon. Only pain is my right lower back will hurt, only in the afternoon, then it stops, I'm okay til the next afternoon. I took low oval pill from 21 to 52, hardly ever had a period, but surely making up for it now. I pray for all women going through this, get relief and fixed. I'm supposed to be done with this mess."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 49 years old and have been experiencing missed periods for about a year and a half. Skipping months. Then in May, I started my period after not having one for two months. I bled for 10 days, so I saw my ObGyn. She put me on Provera to stop the bleeding and hopefully regulate me. I bled for the entire month in May!!!! I decided to follow my own mind and stop taking the medication, and three days later I stopped bleeding! Now I am back to my natural schedule of bleeding. So I’ve decided to let my body do what comes naturally and leave these experimental drugs alone!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "In November 2013, I had surgery to remove a 10-pound fibroid tumor. Ever since then, I have had irregular periods. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 5 years with no luck. I have multiple ovarian cysts that are causing sharp shooting pain. I was just put on Provera 10 mg for 6 days during days 16-21 last month. After the first day of taking it, I have been bleeding heavily; I have used a whole box of pads in less than 7 days of bleeding. I am used to having a 1-3 day period, so this sucks major."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm 44. I have had symptoms of menorrhagia for several years now. I was hospitalized because my hemoglobin was 5, received a couple of blood transfusions and iron during that stay. I was then referred to an OBGYN who put me on Provera 10 mg twice a day. As I was about to start a period and already spotting, I noticed when I started Provera it stopped that, and it was fantastic. Well, it's now 2 weeks and 2 days after a D&C, and I'm bleeding pretty heavily with large size and numerous clots, and not cramps but pain and pressure. I kind of lost track of when my actual period should start, so I don't know if what I'm experiencing is the Provera trying to normalize my previously terrible periods because they were much worse than this. But this is still pretty bad. If I am having a period on Provera right now, it's not doing a whole lot for me anymore."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 31 and was diagnosed at 30 with PCOS, and until recently, I haven't had many issues with it. My periods were always irregular, so when I got them, it would be painful. On 09/08/15, I lost a pregnancy at 10 1/2 weeks. I have been seeing the same OB since I was 16, she had finally had enough knowing I badly wanted a baby. Well, since this loss to date 11/12/15, I have had a total of 12 days with no bleeding, so pretty much 3 months of severe heavy bleeding with clots. I went from having perfect iron levels to them being so low I'm on the verge of a blood transfusion. This week, I've upped my iron from 325 to 650 mg a day, and I am taking 10 mg of Provera every 8 hours. This is day two, and I'm happy to say I'm already seeing results. I hope it stays this way."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got a Novasure ablation 5 years ago because of the heavy bleeding and having to change pads and tampons every hour. The gush feeling after changing while conducting a 15 min. meeting was unbearable. The ablation was the best thing ever until... I started bleeding again. My Dr. put me on Provera 2x daily for 7 days following 1x daily for 7 days. One day passed after completing the prescription, and the heavy bleeding with huge clots, worse than prior to the ablation, along with severe cramping, similar to contractions, is making me regret ever taking this drug. I'm on day 3 of heavy bleeding, severe cramping, terrible bloating that I have never experienced before. I'm feeling discouraged reading that some women bled heavily for more than 2 wks."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I spoke with my OBGYN and told her I'm getting off Provera. Don't want to take it for another day. I have been on it for about 4 months, and my period is still all over the place. I was informed that it would reduce my bleeding and the length of my period. That did not happen! My period came three weeks late on December 10th, and it is January 2nd, 2020, and I am still bleeding. I don't know when this thing will end. I'd rather go back to my heavy periods, but at least it will be over in 8 days!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have had my period since I was 9 years old. I have always had heavy periods and have never been able to have kids. I was put on Provera 10 the first time, and I went insane. My mood changed so much my now ex-husband slept in the vehicle. This time I have been on my period from the end of May until the 3rd of July. I went to the OB-GYN to see if I could have a hysterectomy and had my hopes up. When they got the results back, there is nothing wrong with me, so no surgery and back on Provera 5 once a day. I've been on this med for a few weeks, and I stopped bleeding for about 2 weeks, and Sunday it went back to normal, huge clots messing up clothes and stabbing pain. So I hope this goes away soon. Good luck to y'all."

For Amenorrhea "I was given this pill to take because I stopped having a period for 6 months. Put me on this for 10 days, and the very first day of taking a pill, I spotted. Then light period for 5 days. Then the next month, no period. So started taking the pills again. Not till the LAST pill was there blood. It was light at first for 3 days, now I have been bleeding so heavy non-stop! I’ve been bleeding 10 days straight! Is something wrong? Called my doctor, and they were “busy,” said call back. Never did. I can’t stand that office."

For Amenorrhea "I hadn’t had a period in over 2 years and have suspected PCOS. I have been trying to get pregnant with my fiancé. I was given 10 mg for 10 days. While I was taking the tablets, I felt a little nauseous but nothing major. Afterward, I had really bad PMS. On day 4 after the last tablet, I started spotting. By day 7, I had heavy bleeding. Heavier than I have ever experienced in my life. It was brutal and messy. I’ve had a lot of accidents too. I’m now on day 9 of my period, and it’s just starting to ease up and will hopefully finish in the next week. Overall, it’s really effective, and it definitely works for me."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been bleeding for 7 1/2 weeks now. I saw an ob-gyn on my 5th week of bleeding, and I told him about my case. I have been having this problem since 2018. First, I didn't bleed for 2 months, then I had bleeding for 3 weeks, and so on. First, my ob in the Philippines gave me norethindrone to regulate my period. I took it for 10 days, then I had withdrawal bleeding after 3 days. I did 3 cycles of it, and it did regulate my period again. Then in 2020, it happened again. In 2021, it has gotten worse. I won't get my period for 3 months, then I will bleed for 1 month. And now is the longest. The ob prescribed this pill, and it hasn't stopped my bleeding. It's been 3 days since I finished taking it, and now it has gotten heavier. I don't know what to do now."

"Ever since I got on Provera (oral), 5 days later of taking it I have had non-stop bleeding! Heavy bleeding! It's been the 10th day now, and it's been heavy bleeding. It started off as a dark brown discharge (not liquidy), but now it is heavy, red bleeding, non-stop. I want to get off this prescription immediately, but with my 'Disordered Proliferative Endometrium,' I don't know how to treat myself if I stop Provera. Has anyone stopped their medication from non-stop bleeding from Provera?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I use Provera once a day for ten days. On the eighth day, I started getting pain, like if something was just scraping my uterus out. However, I haven't seen a period in six months (believe me, I was happy at that point in time). Now, TBH, the use of Provera in my case was to help with the shedding of the uterus, which has not happened for six months, so guys, just saying, pain is expected, also heavy bleeding. However, after seven days of bleeding, they put me on oral contraceptives, and the bleeding stopped two days after. However, prior to this, I also used Provera before; I was having breakthrough bleeding for nearly one year. TBH, it wasn't nice, but because of being at school, and time going to the hospital, it was just at the bottom of my list. I took Provera for ten days also."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I’m 45 and have suffered heavy periods since the age of 13. Then, 6 months ago, I started bleeding and didn’t stop for 8 weeks. Then it regulated to bleeding for 5 days, stopping for 14 days, and then bleeding again for 5 days. It’s very precise. I was prescribed 15 mg Provera to take daily for 3 months without a break, but already on day 14, I’m having breakthrough bleeding. I’m really disappointed. I’m willing to keep taking it, but was hoping it would start working straight away."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm 42 years old. I'm diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I've been struggling with this for 20 years, right after I had my son. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I went to the doctor because I had constant bleeding, spotting, cramps, etc. The GYN made some tests, and I got polyps on the upper side of my uterus. I went for surgery and got them out. To reduce the bleeding, the doctor prescribed Provera. I took the pill as told, got my period after 7 days. The first days were fine, but the last 5 of them were heavy, with clots... It was horrible, but it helped me to stop the abnormal bleeding. Before the treatment, I was very depressed, just by not being able to leave the house without a pad was stressful. Now, I can have my life back!"
