For Insomnia "I had trouble getting to sleep, getting a restful sleep, and waking up after a few hours, and sometimes could not get back to sleep. Even when exhausted, my mind was racing a few minutes after I went to bed. I was constantly tired, had no energy to do much during the day. I was prescribed lorazepam, the lowest dose to take at bedtime as needed. However, after a year, I was having so many up and down days because I wasn't sleeping well every night (tried to take it twice a week because I don't like to take medications) that my doctor said to take it every night, which I started to do in December 2015, and I have had the best sleep I've had in six years. I have fibromyalgia, which contributes to the sleep problem. I don't have any side effects."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I have only taken my Ativan 3 times in the past month that I have had it. I really try to take it only on the times I can't control my anxiety and cannot work because of it. I am so against taking medication including this one but the second and third time I took it, I was happy I did. It allows me to function and get through the day feeling good. It really does take the edge off and also calms my heart rate, as it usually is always beating faster throughout the day just from being anxious. Even though I still get paranoid about having to take this medication when I really need it, I end up being glad I did. It works! I personally have no side effects either from this med."

Lorazepam for Panic Disorder "I'm as stubborn as it gets when it comes to taking medicine. I've been on just about everything for anxiety/panic attacks. I began having panic attacks 5 months ago and have been living in complete fear. I couldn't even buy groceries without feeling like I was being pulled to the floor. I have every physical symptom of panic: racing heart, chest pain, dizziness, I've even hyperventilated so badly that I've passed out. This medicine works. My doctor gave me 1mg tablets that are scored. I take half a mg and the panic is instantly gone for the entire day. It's a lifesaver. I really dread when I have to come off this medicine because it makes me feel human again, which is why I give it a 9/10."

For Insomnia "Works like magic when you need sleep or have anxiety. 0.5 is all I need. I get the best sleep with it. Seems like I can never fall asleep at night. I go back and forth in my mind about taking it because I don't wanna get addicted. But I need sleep, so I take it."

Lorazepam for Panic Disorder "Prior to starting med school, I was having numerous panic attacks. Over time they intensified, getting worse by the day. I seriously thought that the social life was just done for me. I used to try and stay close to hospitals in case something bad happened to me. I worried excessively about my health (in which I'm completely healthy). I constantly went to emergency rooms to see doctors for having panic attacks (heart beating fast, shaking, feeling of 'lost in the world' and scared). I tried so many antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds. They either made me too sleepy, gave me headaches, or didn't work at all. ATIVAN has been EXCELLENT! No side effects! Works perfect! Psych docs hate the drug! But it works!"

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I had been having extreme anxiety and panic attacks for 4 or 5 days and didn’t feel like I could handle them on my own anymore. I went to the ER and they gave me Ativan to calm down. I’m not sure what the dosage was but it was in pill form. At that point I had been crying nonstop for 3 hours as I was very scared and my heart was beating very fast. Within half an hour or so I could feel the medication working as it took the edge off of my anxiety. When I went home, I immediately fell asleep and stayed asleep. I also hadn’t been sleeping well, so that was a relief. It worked really well for me, but I only took it at the ER and haven’t taken it consecutively as a prescription. The only downside was I felt very groggy and foggy the next couple of days, but that could be attributed to exhaustion. Overall, it really helped me a lot."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I like Ativan better than Valium but not Xanax. Be careful with any benzodiazepines. They will mess with your brain and cause memory loss. I've been on them for 20 years. There's no way I can go off them now. I'm in a tough spot. I tried to stop twice and it drove me insane. I managed to kick a 4-year opiate addiction with the help of Suboxone, and that was challenging. Getting off benzos is even harder than kicking opiates. Believe me, benzodiazepines are dangerous. My doctor never warned me about the addiction until I switched medications, after about 5 years. Isn't that nice? I rely on them to keep me calm. I suffer from very severe anxiety, but knowing what I know now, I would have preferred to have a shot of vodka a couple of times a day. I'm not a drinker, but it's better than dealing with the side effects of benzos. Moderation is the key."

Lorazepam for Insomnia "I am an addict in recovery and have been clean for 10 years. I have been prescribed Ativan for both anxiety and sleep. I am a 3rd shift worker and feel this medication can be psychologically addicting, so I do my best to always check my motive for taking it. I try not to take it more than 3 days in a row and only once a day."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I've got severe anxiety and panic attacks. I've been using lorazepam/Ativan for a couple of years now to help stop my panic attacks. I can always count on it to work. Last night my anxiety was through the roof. My mind wouldn't stop racing, my chest hurt, and it felt like I was being stabbed in the gut repeatedly. I wanted to cry, but I knew if I did, I would for sure have an attack and wasn't sure if I could cope right since I was home alone. I keep a vial of my prescription on my keys and took one tablet. In about half an hour, I no longer felt like I was dying and was able to get some rest a little after that. I think if I didn't have this med, I would have ended up at the hospital last night."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I have been on Ativan for 13 years at only 1 mg as needed. My anxiety and panic attacks can get very severe. God bless the people that made Ativan, it gave me my life back. I am able to rationalize, calm down, breathe, and move about my day like a normal person."

For Panic Disorder "I hate my life and I hate having panic attacks. I hate taking Ativan because I don’t like being dependent on it. But it works great. If you're like me, constantly worrying about your heart or that you don’t know how to breathe anymore, then take this pill."

For Insomnia "Gave me my life back. When my insomnia kicked into full gear, I tried every natural method I could for only a temporary fix. After years of running on no sleep, I ended up in an emergency room where I was given this medicine and have been taking it ever since. I am able to take it right when I go to bed and awaken normally. 1.5 mg."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "Given that I've had issues with addiction, my previous psychiatrist would not prescribe me any benzos and instead prescribed me Vistaril, which I found pretty useless. For someone with acute panic and anxiety issues, benzos really should be the first and last word on the topic. Ativan is great. Because of my addiction history, I am very careful with it and never take it more than prescribed. It is enough to make me feel 'evened out' during the day without making me loopy, euphoric, or sleepy. And at night, it puts me out without giving me a 'hangover' the following day like Valium does."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I’ve done research as I suffer from anxiety. I had a doctor prescribe me Xanax, and from all I’ve read online, they are almost identical to each other. I would rate Xanax much lower than Ativan. Ativan truly cures anxiety, and all I need is 1 pill for 3 days, and I feel normal and functioning. Xanax makes you feel drunk and wake up with an anxious “hangover”. Must be my genetic makeup, but I highly prefer Ativan, just do not abuse it. You must respect this medication."

For Panic Disorder "Very helpful for panic attacks. I suffer from a lot of dissociation (depersonalization and derealization) from panic and generalized anxiety, and Ativan at 0.5mg-1mg is the only thing that brings me back down. I'm also on an SSRI, but Ativan is really the only thing that will get rid of my dissociation and calm me down. Panic attacks are a living hell for those who suffer from them, and I am so thankful I have something that takes me out of this living hell. Definitely not ashamed of having to take medication. Please, don't be ashamed of taking something that helps you and keeps you healthy. No one should have to live with the constant fear and hell that panic and depersonalization/derealization bring."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I take this on occasion only to sleep. I cut 0.5 mg tablets into 2-3 pieces and it is enough to work. My doctor is reluctant to give me even 10 pills! I am not an addictive person and this alone stresses me out, it makes me feel like a drug addict! I have had extreme anxiety all my life and I am forced to live with it as I cannot take antidepressants which they want to give you! This drug is very inexpensive. I believe the drug companies want you to take something else that they can make more money on and tell doctors not to prescribe. It is a lifesaver for me!"

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I take 0.5mg every day before I head out to work. I had a panic at work, and this keeps me calm and able to get through the day. Some days are more stressful than others, and I may have to take another 0.5mg, but I never go over the dose I was prescribed. I am so glad my doctor gave me this!"

Lorazepam for Insomnia "Ativan is the absolute best sleep medication. I sleep better the whole night and wake up refreshed. However, I try not to use it more often than twice a week. When taken more than 4 or more nights in a row and then stopped, I have severe withdrawal symptoms."

For Insomnia "Ativan/Lorazepam provides a very sound, sustained sleep with few, if any, dreams. I have never had problems getting to sleep, but staying asleep was a real issue. Waking up at 4 AM with an active mind and watching the sun rise, knowing that I would crash at midday, was a pain. Ativan (.5 mg or 1 mg splurge) helps me sleep until the alarm, and I never feel weird or dopey in the AM. HOWEVER, be aware that your body and mind get conditioned, so don't take it nightly (or sleep won't come without it). The pros are the effectiveness and the lack of side effects. The cons are dependency/poor sleep without it. I use it maybe three times per week, and it's fine, alternating a night or two. Never taken it in the day, likely never will."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I have been taking Ativan for 20 years. It was prescribed for me when my husband was in hospice care, and I was struggling to care for him and our young daughters. I have GAD, and it is the only thing that calms my mind and makes me feel normal if I am in high-anxiety mode. I have reduced my amount needed to one half of the 0.5 pill to help sleep and the other half if I wake up too early and cannot get back to sleep. I also use it to fly. I have no hangovers and never feel fuzzy. It is a miracle drug for me."

Lorazepam for Panic Disorder "I've had severe panic attacks for forty years. They run constantly and NEVER stop! I'm 78 years old and have been taking 1mg Ativan three times a day, which barely keeps them under control! I need four a day, but my doctor acts like I'm asking for heroin! I have never needed a stronger dose. Now, they are almost banned! Call your representatives and the comment line at the White House and demand we be given this medication because we must have it!"

Lorazepam for Anxiety "Have had depression and anxiety for most of my 65 years. I have been treated for depression and am now on bupropion 300mg daily. It does not help with my anxiety which includes muscle stiffness and all-over pain. After my husband died and left a bottle of Ativan, a script he had been on for years, I started taking 1mg in the morning and at night. I was amazed at the relief I received. I've used Ativan many times in the past, but no doctor will give it to me on a long-term basis citing addiction. My husband took it daily for years. Why am I not able to get a long-term prescription? Ativan is a lifesaver for me, eliminates the muscle stiffness and pain, and gives me energy. Doctors need to understand that patients know what helps their issues and allow them the medication needed in order to have quality of life, which I don't have right now."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "Thank God for Ativan. Even though when the stressful situation came up, instead of having a panic attack, I was able to stop it with the calm. I do wish it could erase those trigger moments, but I'm so glad I can stop them and manage them better with Ativan. I also really like that I can take it on a work day with no side effects or that fuzzy high feeling. It has not affected my sleep or anything else. It's a lifesaver for me. I'm back!"

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and take this nightly to sleep. This medication works wonderfully for relieving the physical symptoms of GAD, which is what it was intended for. Yes, this is addictive and has side effects that can affect memory, however, I don't think I could live without this medication. Anti-depressants don't touch my anxiety whereas this does."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I have been using Ativan since 2003. It has been a life-saving drug for me. I know the longer you use it, it doesn't work as well. I never take more than one and a half to two mg a day. I'm 84 now, so difference doesn't make. I've had anxiety all my life. It started really bad in my 40s. I was on doxepin for years. Then anxiety got bad, so back on Ativan."
