For Emergency Contraception "This has legit been the scariest month ever. I took the pill literally 30 min after the deed on the 10th, which was 2 days after my PMS, but when I went to go pee, I bled. So obv it wasn't my period, so I thought implantation bleeding. I kept googling, and it all led to implantation bleeding, and I'm nowhere near wanting a baby. To make it worse, it burned when I peed, then I thought a UTI, but Google also told me pregnancy, so I was just stuck in a hole. I decided to stop looking stuff up, but according to my period app, I was supposed to start my period on the 1st but didn't for 10 days, so I was stressing! I had horrible cramps for those days but no period! But thank God on the 10th I got my period, and the first day it was regular, but the next few days it was lighter than usual. But this pill did come thru, so don't stress, stay distracted, and DON'T LOOK ANYTHING UP! I promise that only makes things worse. I wish the best for all of you, and no matter what, love yourselves :)"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have a 10 cm fibroid, which has been held responsible for sudden, large bleeds that I was having. These bleeds were unmanageable and could strike at any time, causing my clothes, shoes, and carpet to be soaked with blood. I had read about Mirena coils and hoped it would work for me. It was inserted by a gynecologist following a hysteroscopy to check that nothing else was untoward. Insertion was slightly uncomfortable, but I had no pain afterward. That was 6 months ago, and I have not had any further bleeding, no mood swings, and as I am probably peri-menopausal, no symptoms of menopause either. An added bonus is that I no longer have periods due to Mirena, so holidays are no longer ruined. It has saved my life."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta put in almost a week ago, and so far have had a great experience! I am 20 years old and have never had kids. My period cramps are usually not too bad, I'll take a few ibuprofen, and they usually settle down, and my pain tolerance is pretty high. I knew going in that the insertion was going to hurt, however, it definitely was tolerable. In the days following, I haven't experienced any heavy cramping (thankfully). The rest of the day after getting it inserted just felt like how I would normally cramp the day before I get my period. I took it easy the 2-3 days after getting it inserted, however, I feel completely normal now. I have a brownish/yellowish clear discharge, but so far no heavy bleeding either. I wanted to leave a review just because the day before I got mine inserted, I read the reviews and psyched myself out because they are almost all bad! Everybody is different, so I'm glad I didn't chicken out because so far so good!"

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I had the Mirena inserted in April 2024 and I've had non-stop bleeding since. It's spotting, light, and heavy at times. It's starting to become annoying. My OBGYN keeps advising me to give it 3-6 months for my body to adjust, but I'm strongly considering getting it removed and going for the uterus ablation. I have friends and family that have the Mirena and have not had any issues. So with that being said, this is my experience, and it may not be the same for everyone."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Ever since I got this thing, I’ve been bleeding and cramping, depressed, and have a low sex drive. Getting this has been one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made. I was talked into it, instead of having my heavy period problem actually remedied, I was given this bad idea of a device. This has made my bleeding problem out of control. I haven’t stopped bleeding since I got it. I went to the doctor for help with heavy bleeding, and now every day since placement has been a nightmare. It seems women have been brainwashed into thinking it’s okay to be in pain. As a woman, having this thing makes me question how much society actually cares about women. Insertion was so painful I became dizzy, nauseous, and almost passed out. I had to be given a shot for the pain before I left the office. And this is normal?! No. Advice? DON’T DO IT!"

For Emergency Contraception "Girls, girls, girls. Plan B works. Period. Point. Blank. When I took Plan B my first time, I literally felt so alone and clueless, and these reviews gave me comfort-so here's my own... So, midnight of Nov 21st, I had unprotected sex and was not able to get to a Walgreens until Nov 23. I have heard everyone's body responds to the pill differently, and for me, I had it BAD. I had hot/cold flashes, EXTREME fatigue (I'm talking sleeping until 12 pm every day), bloating, back pains... Literally, nothing could convince me I wasn’t pregnant. Exactly 4 days later, I experienced a mini period that lasted just around 5 days. I DID NOT get a period at all in December (started to have mini panic attacks), then FINALLY, on Jan 4th, I got my period!!! P.S. I usually never get PMS or symptoms, and if I do, it's tolerable-but my period after Plan B gave me cramps, headaches, heavy bleeding-but hey, that's the price you pay for being a woman. Abstinence is key, my friends. Abstinence is key."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was anemic and had very low iron levels and even experienced passing out. I would bleed for 10 days and couldn't control my bleeding, ruining clothes, chairs, beds, mattresses, and sheets, not to mention sleepless nights. I have a uterine fibroid and a few outside the uterus. I still had the Mirena placed even with the fact it may not be successful due to the fibroids. The first 3 months were a lot of spotting, but nothing more than a light day. The 4th month seemed to have a period and spotted the whole month. I waited it out, and I couldn't be happier. It is a wonderful thing. I have read a lot of negative things, but it's all opinions and it's like trying new food, some things you like, some you don't."

For Emergency Contraception "My girlfriend has taken this product three different times. The first time, she had withdrawal bleeding for a week, two days after use. The other two times, she didn't bleed at all but suffered from extreme nausea, bloating, headaches, etc. This product truly works, as two-thirds of the times we had to use it were the most fertile times of her cycle. Recommend this product to anyone."

For Emergency Contraception "Another success story I hope might ease your mind! I'm a naive 18-year-old who had unprotected sex with her ex-boyfriend. He did not finish inside of me, but pre-cum is very much capable, so I took Plan B 48 hours after the fact. Felt completely normal after taking it, but was going crazy with the Google searches and crying over the 'what ifs' (don't do this!). A week after taking it, I bled dark brown blood lightly for 3 days on and off. Two weeks after taking it, I started to get bad headaches every day. Three weeks after taking it, the cramping kicked in, and I was starting to worry a ton again. Now it's been 4 weeks, and I've gotten my period a week before expected! Biggest relief ever. Trust the process, don't overthink, and maybe even say a few prayers (:"

For Emergency Contraception "Reading a majority of these comments made me feel a lot better, so I promised myself I’d come back and share my experience too. My boyfriend and I had an accident two weeks ago where we found out that the condom broke after he had fully come inside me. I’m not on any birth control, and I’m 23 and fertile. We panicked, and roughly 20 minutes later, I took Plan B. The next day, I felt super sick and nauseous, and the days following, I also started cramping. I was so worried I was pregnant because my period wouldn’t come, and my periods are irregular, so I wasn’t sure when/if it would come. Also, I’ll note that I have painful ovulation cramps, so I was very scared that I was already ovulating, which could render the Plan B ineffective (read the fine print, kids). Finally, on the 5th day after taking Plan B, my period came. I’ve been bleeding pretty heavily for the past 4 days, but I’ll take it over being pregnant any day! God is so good, and I definitely learned my lesson!"

For Birth Control "I am 21 and have not had children yet. My husband and I thought Mirena was a good idea because we want to wait a few years to conceive since I am in college still, and we want to be more settled before we start trying. Well, I was nervous about the procedure, which was pretty painful, but all I said was, 'Whoa!' No tears or anything, so it wasn't THAT bad. However, since I have had Mirena (4 months), I have had heavy cramping (like if I stand up, I get lightheaded, and the pain is almost unbearable) and unpredictable periods with light to really, really heavy bleeding. I am going to give it 2 more months, however, my husband is seriously encouraging me to have it taken out since he hates seeing me in intense pain regularly."

For Birth Control "I highly recommend not getting this IUD, as I have had an incredibly horrible experience. I took 2 Advil prior to the insertion, and the pain was bearable. I bled for about a month straight after, which is what I expected. Exactly one month after getting my IUD was when everything went downhill. One month in, I developed severe anxiety and depression. I couldn’t go a day without having an anxiety or panic attack. It got so bad to the point that I couldn’t drive my car or go out to eat. Not only was I struggling with anxiety, but I didn’t feel myself. I had horrible brain fog and felt mentally off. I am convinced that my IUD caused this. I got it removed about 2 months ago after having it in for only 4 months. I am finally starting to feel more and more like myself. Please, please do your research before getting this put in your body."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had my 2nd Mirena inserted nearly 2 months ago. I was also put on the pill at the same time. I have been bleeding every 2 weeks for 10-12 days at a time. I am experiencing really, really bad cramping even when I'm not bleeding. My recent period started 2 weeks ago next Monday. It has been really heavy some days, then other days it's light to medium."

For Birth Control "on this for irregular periods/ovarian cysts/birth control. I have not stopped bleeding since insertion and feel like I'm in a constant state of PMS. I have regular cramping and noticeable pressure in my lower abdomen. I am almost constantly bloated. I eat 90% paleo, limit alcohol, and work out regularly. The rest of my body is in great shape, but since the IUD insertion, my mid-section is ever-expanding! I am unable to fit into anything unless it has spandex. I have been experiencing headaches, which I am not normally prone to, and I feel more anxious than normal. My skin has also taken a downward turn. I have never been acne-prone, and my face looks like I am going through puberty. And most importantly, my mood sucks! I find myself to be uncontrollably irritable. It's almost like watching another person because I can see myself being angry or down in the dumps, and I can't pinpoint why and struggle to shake myself out of it. I have never had depression, but I think the medication is taking its toll on my normally upbeat nature. I am done."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've had the Mirena for 3 months. It has been overwhelmingly positive. I had suffered from very heavy, painful monthly periods, with often breakthrough bleeding during my cycle. As a result, I became anemic and lived my life with no energy and dreading my next cycle. My doctor recommended the Mirena. I didn't give it much hope as I thought nothing could stop the pain and heavy flow. The Mirena did. No pain, no weight gain, no dreading my monthly cycles, and no more anemia. Now all I have is spotting. The spotting was continual when I first had the Mirena, which was a minor annoyance, but as time goes on, the spotting is decreasing. I read many negative reviews before having the Mirena, but for me, it has been fantastic."

For Birth Control "I am 45, 2 kids. Had Mirena put in January for ease of birth control and was recommended by Dr. I have had no hormonal issues. However, I have light bleeding almost every day (use 1-2 panty liners a day) since insertion. Went back at 3 months, Dr. told me my body needs time to adjust. I'm trying to be patient but am about at wit's end. Had Mirena put in so I could have safe sex-now I don't have sex because of constant bleeding. I'm gonna try to wait till 6 months and see if it lets up, but not sure I can make it that long-hate to think I wasted 1/2 year on something that isn't working for me. If not, I'm having it taken out. Was on BC pills most of adult life and never had issues. Anybody else experience this, and did it ever get better?"

For Emergency Contraception "Really just on here searching for anyone who's had an experience like me because I’m beginning to get worried. My boyfriend and I had our accident on Sept. 21st, but were able to get Plan B within 30 minutes. The next night I began spotting, which I heard was normal, but it’s now October 10th and I’ve been spotting/bleeding nonstop. Last week there were 3 days where I had noticeably brighter blood (as in it was really red like period blood would be), but then it just went back to this brownish blood. It hasn’t stopped one day, and it’s hard for me to tell if this is/was my period or if something is just wrong."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had the Mirena inserted in early November. It is now a week from January, and I have had daily bleeding since insertion. I came to the forum because I was concerned. I know that the bleeding timeline varies per person, but who wants a light period for about 8 weeks?! My period has been light, which is the main reason I chose Mirena. I've had extremely heavy periods where I would have to wear an ultra tampon and overnight pad, changing both out in about 2 hours because they were both saturated for years. I am not in pain, although the insertion was very uncomfortable/painful but was a short procedure. Cramps afterward were horrific but passed. Tylenol helped. I have an amazing gyno, and when I called about the duration of my period, he did show concern, asking if I had an odor or pain, which was a no. I will go in for a check-up but am a bit nervous. I don't want to remove it unless absolutely necessary, especially if I am close to my body adjusting to the Mirena."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "In Oct 2020, I had lost so much blood during my period that I had to have a blood transfusion (3.5 bags). Afterwards, my gyn-ob gave me birth control pills w/ estrogen to regulate my heavy periods. It made my blood pressure go through the roof. I also had swelling in my legs, feet, and ankles. So in March 2021, I decided to have the Mirena IUD inserted. I was still bleeding heavily when my gyn-ob inserted it. It was a bloody mess. Mind you, my vaginal area was sore from all the bulky tampons that I experienced such a stinging sensation. Now fast-forward to July 2021, I'm still experiencing heavy bleeding at times. I'm constantly having to wear panty liners. I get headaches and strange body aches monthly. I've gained weight in the back of my neck and belly. I once had clear skin but not anymore. I've been hiding behind a mask the entire time. My mood comes and goes. I'm contemplating removing the IUD. I was miserable before the IUD, and now I'm miserable with it. This dilemma has ruined my livelihood."

For Emergency Contraception "Took Plan B One-Step 2 days after sex. Gave me extremely bad cramps, dizziness, light-headedness, very heavy bleeding, and my cycle lasted about 9 days. I should have gotten pregnant, however, I'm not pregnant, and the short-term side effects are nothing compared to pregnancy symptoms and having a baby. And once again, I'm not pregnant!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am 51. Had it inserted 2 years ago. I never felt a thing. Did not take ibuprofen prior to. It was quick and painless. I bled for a couple of weeks after. Slight cramping for a few days. I do still spot. Nothing major. Gained a few that I can't drop. That's my age too. Not to blame Mirena. Very glad I did it. Should also take me through menopause. Positive experience."

For Birth Control "I just got my second Mirena inserted today - I will seriously never do anything else. I've tried other methods (patch, NuvaRing, pill), and nothing compares to Mirena if you want longer-term birth control! Yes, it is fairly painful upon insertion, but it lasts for only about 40 seconds max, but it is so worth it! Both times I didn't have bleeding or cramping afterward. My first time I didn't even have spotting, my periods just completely stopped for all 5 years. I am crossing my fingers for the same this time! I never had weight gain, and my skin was amazingly clear. For those who are interested in low-maintenance, long-term birth control, I cannot recommend Mirena more!"

For Emergency Contraception "Thought I'd share my experience with you all, as these reviews helped me. We had unprotected sex on the 15th day (counting day 1 as the beginning of her period) of a regular 28-day cycle. It was during ovulation/fertile window. She took the pill within 1 hour. I was worried because I read it doesn't work during/after ovulation time, but two doctors told me it works very effectively during the fertile window, granted taken within 72 hours and no sex afterward. Her side effects only lasted one day, and she got no bleeding. Her period was one day late. This pill is highly effective, so do not worry too much. People who are trying their best to conceive only have a 30% chance at best, so the odds are already in your favor to begin. Good luck, and don't stress."

For Birth Control "I had the Kyleena for 2 years, this is my experience. I am a fit, healthy 25-year-old woman with a background in healthcare and no existing medical conditions or symptoms before Kyleena. The procedure for insertion I found to be okay. After, I had unbearable cramping for about 3 months and irregular bleeding. For the past 2 years, I have experienced increasing anxiety and depression. Uterine pain during sports such as rock climbing, skiing, kayaking, running, etc., that didn’t used to be painful. Additionally, I experienced decreased libido, pain during sex, recurrent yeast infections, vaginal dryness, nausea, headaches, back pain, insomnia, and my period stopped altogether. Two months ago, I got the Kyleena removed, I am aware of the placebo effect, etc. The removal was painless. The first 3 days after removal, I experienced extreme mood swings and heavy bleeding. But ever since then, I am happy to say I have had none of these side effects anymore and feel like myself."
