Levocetirizine for Allergic Rhinitis "I took this medication prior to going to bed. I woke up with my head spinning. I could not function at all the very next day. It felt like it gave me the worst hangover of my life. I would rather suffer with allergies than feel exhausted and dizzy."

Levocetirizine for Allergies "First time using Xyzal last night for allergies. Normally, I take Benadryl, but wanted to give this product a try as it's new OTC. I only took half a pill at bedtime. Yes, my allergic symptoms cleared up, but WOW did it make me tired. I'm thankful I have the day off, as I don't know how I could function at work. I expected some drowsiness, but this far exceeds the effect of a full dose of Benadryl."

For Allergic Rhinitis "This has worked very well for treating my allergies. However, the side effects have hit me very hard. I normally cycle 40-60 miles on the weekends with 2 25-milers during the week. Since starting this pill, I have had an enormous loss of strength, even feel tired and groggy all day. I am not sleeping very well either. My legs have been cramping really badly while exercising and cycling, I cannot ride over 30 miles without my legs locking up. I will be asking my ENT for something different tomorrow. Be aware that the side effects don't get everyone, they just got to me. Thanks!"

For Allergies "Initially, levocetirizine worked very well in reducing cough and throat clearing. But as well as it worked for that, I felt sluggish during the day. (I took the pill at night as prescribed.) I had very vivid dreams. I felt in the day as if I had a mild hangover. I cut the pill in half, so I had 2.5 mg instead of 5. Still felt groggy. I then ingested 1/4 of the pill, still groggy. I didn't take it at all last night, still vivid dreams, but no groggy in the a.m. I'm going to ask the doctor if there is another medication for me, as the side effects are too tiring."

Levocetirizine for Allergies "I've had such a mixed experience with this drug. On the one hand, it kicked a sinus allergy-induced migraine I had for days that hadn't responded to other medicine. Once I started taking it on a daily basis, however, it made me extremely tired and sore. I tried taking halves, and it isn't so bad that way, but ultimately led to a lupus flare, which made me realize it was having a stronger effect on my body than I'd realized. Now missing work from it. Take with caution!"

Levocetirizine for Allergies "I took Xyzal for a couple of months, stopped and restarted this spring. Since restarting, I was getting more fatigued and achy, little by little, with almost a drugged/hungover feeling most every morning. It would take me until late afternoon to feel somewhat functional. I chalked this up to other issues (hormonal, life changes, work stress), but then stumbled upon something that discussed such side effects with allergy medicines. After doing extensive research, I've found these effects are not as uncommon, or random, as they first appeared. After stopping about two weeks ago, I don't have the exhaustion, body/joint pain, and drugged feeling every morning. It has been a marked, and remarkable, difference. Granted, I still have allergies...but I'll gladly take those over feeling like I was 137 years old. I was getting afraid that something else was happening or that if this was just 'aging,' I wasn't going to make it much longer! I'm feeling much better now this medicine is out of my system."

Levocetirizine for Allergies "Started taking it in 2017 after the owl ads on TV. It does work, and it does produce a mild tiredness hangover effect the next day-though it is less pronounced than Benadryl's next day hangover. I took one tablet a day for a month and started noticing the hangover getting stronger, so I cut down to half a tablet. I started noticing a very quick and aggressive angry response from me to any type of provocation or annoyance-yikes! I stopped taking it immediately after noticing this side effect after 2 months of taking it. I now take a 1/4 tablet with a Mucinex, when allergies flare up, and this seems to work better with no pronounced anger or hangover."

For Allergies "My doctor prescribed 5 mg 2 months ago, and I can't keep taking it. I don't feel well on it. I was taking it in the morning and then was told last night to take it at night. I didn't have any energy today, but my allergies seem better."

For Allergies "Prescribed for allergies. Took one 5 mg pill last night and almost slept through the alarm. Feel very lethargic and have blurred vision and upset stomach. Allergies seem better, but unsure if I will take tonight. May try half a pill."

For Allergies "This drug completely annihilated my post-nasal drip and has greatly eased my constant nasal congestion. It does make me tired, but it is very mild compared to the exhaustion that I feel because of untreated allergies. I take 2.5 mg at night with a small meal."

For Allergic Rhinitis "So usually I take fexofenadine, but it's on the more expensive side for me, so I wanted to try Xyzal. I usually take my meds at night. About 2 hours after taking this medicine, I got super dizzy, enough to not want to drive. (Now this is on me, should have read the packet ingredients and instructions.) I can't take Cetirizine because I get ungodly drowsy, but after taking the medicine, I realized it's part of that family. It made me dizzy, dry mouth, and really tired. Should have read one here first, this was my first time ever trying it. I know you're supposed to take allergy medicine for 2 weeks to get used to it, but these side effects are a little too much for me."

Levocetirizine for Allergies "Took Xyzal at 8:00 pm last night, and it is now noon the next day, and I am still having trouble keeping my eyes open. The box warned it could cause drowsiness, but I am beyond drowsy-extremely tired."

Levocetirizine for Urticaria "My 16-year-old daughter was prescribed this medicine, and after two doses, became exhausted. She could not remember anything she learned in school. Said it was effortful to walk, although she walked normally. She described herself as feeling like she was in a dream state. I discontinued the drug, and within 24 hours, she felt normal."
