For Anesthesia "With my insurance coverage, I only pay $3 for it. I have upper stomach pain. I had a CT scan done. I go back to the doctor on April 6th to get my results. But I called in for something for pain, and she gave me this. I did notice I used to go to the bathroom a lot, now I don't go as often to pee, so I thank God for that. I'm still in pain, but sometimes it lets up a little. I will be glad when this is over."

For Urinary Incontinence "I take 5 or 10 mg for nighttime incontinence that started after menopause. It helps with daytime, too. It makes me a bit drowsy at night and dry mouth. I got off it for about two months, and the incontinence returned with pelvic floor pain. After 2 days back on this, it was better."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I originally was prescribed this for a 'nervous stomach' due to diarrhea from severe anxiety. It works to control my bowels and stop the cramps. I have been on and off the meds for about 10 years, using it to help with flares - it is now known I have IBS. If I take it more than 3 days - 3 times a day as prescribed, I have severe constipation. I use it as needed, taking a single dose every day, and more if I have a flare, stopping for a few days only if I have harder stools."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I have experienced bowel problems since my teens and was finally prescribed Donnatal, and I had great success. As I got older, my symptoms subsided to the point that I no longer needed to take any medication. Occasionally, I would have minor flare-ups, but they would always subside. I am now in my 70s and have begun to experience IBS symptoms again. After researching for an alternative to Donnatal, which is outrageously expensive, I learned of Levsin. I asked my doctor to prescribe it, and I am very pleased with the results. The only negative about taking this medication is that I must take 4 tablets each day, but I have not had any adverse side effects to this point. Levsin is well worth the results for me, and my hope is that it will continue to give me positive results."

"Had gallbladder taken out in 2008, then the diarrhea started. It would come and go. I started staying at home because I never knew when it would happen, as there was never any warning. It gets old wearing Depends when I leave the house. Then I had a pancreatic attack and spent two days in the hospital. Finally, I got in to see a gastro doctor. Anyway, we talked about the attack, and I went on to tell her about the years of diarrhea. She put me on hyoscyamine 0.375. I am so encouraged by reading about what y'all are saying about this drug. I sure hope it works and I can get back to a normal life after all these years. Another option is cholestyramine for diarrhea after gallbladder removal."

"Surprised not to see any reviews mentioning gastroparesis or dysmotility. It's counter-intuitive, but if you have severe GI cramping, this can actually help. And at least in my case, it doesn't adversely affect my motility because I already had surgery to place my feeding tubes, and that gives me the ability to bypass the area where I have reverse motility and put nutrition and meds directly where I need them (jejunum). In the rare disease/complex patient community, this application of hyoscyamine (Levsin) is quite common (likewise Bentyl), so I'm a little disappointed gastroparesis wasn't included in the off-label uses here."

"I take it for esophageal spasms. It works fairly well. I take it along with Prilosec on pollen days. I have hyper-sensitive esophagus or EOE. Esophagus spasms to certain foods like dairy and gluten, aeroallergens. I don’t take it every day because I try to avoid anticholinergic when I can."

"This drug has saved my life a few times. I will get raging gastritis a few times a year and suffered so badly, sometimes going to the ER. I was given this once and it literally stops the gastritis if I use it with Mylanta, Manuka honey, and Prilosec. But this drug stops the intense spasms that make you want to die. I always keep a bottle on hand and never travel without it."

For Crohn's Disease "I have been on hyoscyamine 0.125 mg for a year actually for ulcerative colitis. It works very well for my cramps and spasms. My insurance does not want to cover it anymore. They finally gave me the generic form, which is the same name. I took one, it gave me terrible pain in the left side of my head moving down the back of my ears. I stopped using it, can't deal with the pain. It also sent up my blood pressure."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "This medication has markedly helped me with two conditions: IBS-D. It controls (stops) diarrhea. However, it also slows down everything in the gut and the kidneys. I was also prescribed this for abnormal, excessive throat mucus. Not simply the occasional mucus we all have, but a constant abnormal amount. For this, I only take it when needed, and the lowest effective dosage, 0.125. It works wonders for both conditions-at least for me. I have taken it for 3 years."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "In my case for IBS, a low dosage made me cough. If I take below 10 mg, my throat closes. I treat my IBS without this pill. Also, the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital in PR found that the pill contains an ingredient that is in Xanax, so they block the pill. Because I don't know what ingredient closes my throat, I don't take it."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "This medicine proved very effective for controlling my irritable bowel syndrome. However, at 0.0375 mg, I found it rather sedating. So, I split the tablets, and it still controlled my symptoms. It also helps with the stress incontinence I have as a result of prostate surgery. Overall, it was a miracle for me."
