For Birth Control "I’m getting it removed tomorrow. Nearly 5 months of non-stop blood. I was prescribed a birth control pill on top of this to help stop the bleeding, and it stopped it for a while but made my placebo bleeding much worse (can’t take continuous active pills without breakthrough bleeding). I passed a decidual cast in April. It was only 2 weeks that I experienced no bleeding without the pill. I bled lightly the entire time I was on the active pill, and I got off a week ago. This morning, I soaked through a regular tampon in 15 minutes, passed a quarter-sized blood clot, and now I’m sitting on the couch with a tampon and a pad praying that I can go work tonight. I’m only rating it a 2 because I had sex ONCE and didn’t get pregnant. My periods were regular before this, and I can’t wait to either get on the pill alone or go off BC. I’ve completely lost my sex drive... sex without a condom isn’t worth it. PLEASE READ: I read through all of these negative reviews when I got it and thought it wouldn’t happen to me. It did. For Birth Control "It is not worth it. Nexplanon has severely inhibited my life. For starters, the periods! I have been on this for about 10 months now. I have been constantly on my period since I got it in with no signs of stopping, only small (like one or two-day) breaks every month or so. I got the birth control so I could have sex, and now I feel like I can’t! The bleeding is so heavy. Loss of sex drive. Seriously. Anxiety and depression to the max. I can’t sleep because I imagine everyone I love dying. I cry when my husband leaves the house because I’m scared he will die in an accident. I get angry over stupid things and start to hate people when I used to pride myself on being kind. My husband begged me to remove the implant because the mood swings and anxiety were so bad. Weight gain. A lot of it. I’ve never struggled with my weight before. Now with the Nexplanon, I have gained 50 pounds with exercise and dieting, and the scale keeps going up no matter what I do - it’s hopeless."

For Birth Control "I used to be an extremely bubbly, happy, and very sexual person. I've had the Nexplanon for a little over a month, and my weight has stayed almost the same (I went from 140 to 135). I'm very active and generally up for anything. After having the Nexplanon implanted, I've been miserable. I have at least 2 to 3 anxiety attacks weekly, I'm moody, hateful, irritable, and downright not myself. My poor boyfriend is trying to be a trooper, but I can barely contain my own feelings. My sex drive is GONE, whereas previously I was craving sex twice a day! I don't feel like myself. I had my period for 2 straight weeks after implantation, and now I'm bleeding very lightly continuously. I'm giving it a couple more weeks before I call to have it removed."

For Birth Control "I’ve had the worst experience on this birth control, and I’ve decided on having it removed ASAP! At the beginning, I didn’t notice anything unusual as I was only 2 months postpartum, but now, after having it for 7 months, my moods are all over the place, I feel like a crazy person at times. I have to wear a pad now every day, going on 2 months. Noticed a change in vaginal odor (when I wasn’t bleeding). I feel lightheaded at times and weak. My sex drive is nonexistent, but more so now since I’m always on a period, I don’t even want to be bothered."

For Birth Control "Nexplanon = the worst mistake of my life. I had it inserted in July 2014, removed in April 2015, and I'm still dealing with the side effects today - I'm now being treated for painful cysts and debilitating cramps, and I'm convinced this drug caused them. Side effects included: prolonged/heavy periods (lasting 3-4 weeks), anemia (due to periods), recurrent yeast infections (due to periods), painful vaginal fissures (due to yeast infections), lack of sex drive, constant bloating, rapid weight gain, increased appetite, acne, irritability, extreme mood swings, anxiety, and depression (honestly, who wouldn't be depressed). If you are at all sensitive to hormonal birth control, I do not recommend this drug."

For Birth Control "DO NOT USE THIS BIRTH CONTROL. For years of Nexplanon, I never had a period and became super depressed without knowing it. I was moody and had basically ZERO sex drive. I developed a nasty ovarian cyst, which burst and became infected, this took six months to heal. I started bleeding HEAVILY every day, nonstop, for eight months total. Not to mention, the depression and low sex drive NEVER went away. I couldn't take it anymore and had the implant removed. My doctors kept saying the depression wasn't related to Nexplanon, but once it was removed, I did a complete 180 the first week! My daily bleeding immediately stopped, my skin even cleared up within a couple of days. After a week, I actually wanted to have sex again, and now I feel SO much happier, it's unreal. I'm usually not one to make posts or reviews, but after my experience, I truly believe no woman should be on this birth control, it messes up your hormones so much. The point is, if I could rate this 0/10, I would."

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon inserted a little over 3 months ago, and I just scheduled an appointment to have it removed. They say you should give it a full 3 months for it to fully adjust to your body and to see how you will react. My side effects started out slow but progressively got worse and more noticeable. My whole life, I've had perfectly clear skin, and now I have cystic acne all over my chin that will not go away. I've gained 10 lbs since having it inserted, with no change to my diet or activity levels. I constantly feel depressed and have very low energy, and for the past 2 months, sex has been extremely painful. The cons greatly outweigh the pros, in my opinion, when it comes to Nexplanon, and that is why I would strongly recommend not getting it!"

For Birth Control "It was horrible, not motivation for everything! Ruining my relationship with my partner, now ex. I bled since the day I started it, November 22, since the day I got it removed, April 7. My libido was gone, I was no longer sexually interested. I was depressed, suicidal, the mood swings were so bad, dizziness, weakness, and a lot of sleeping. I felt like I would just sleep my life away, but at least I’m not pregnant. It’s different for everyone, but I 100% do not recommend."

For Birth Control "Nexplanon was the worst decision I ever made. I got it in October, bled for 6 months straight. Got it taken out in April. Killed my sex drive. Gained 20 pounds, which I can't get rid of. I was extremely emotional and depressed. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone. It was the worst thing I've ever done to myself."

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon inserted in Feb 2015. At first, I didn't have any problems with it. I was spotting unexpectedly, but I didn't really find that a huge issue. Now we are in November: 9 months later, and I hate my life. I am always upset, angry, depressed, bitchy, unhappy, etc. Everything bothers me. I have put on some weight, but I'm not sure if it's the lack of exercise or the birth control. I am always tired. I have a toddler, which can explain the exhaustion, but even if I get a good night's sleep, I am always sleepy and tired and don't want to do anything. The worst side effect thus far has been my sex drive. It's on the floor. It's ruining my relationship and my life. This Nexplanon is a devil from the grips of Dante's Inferno."

For Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon in Nov 2013. It is definitely the most effective and easiest form of birth control I have experienced. The first 3 months I had some spotting and breakthrough bleeding. Then after 3 months I quit having periods. I have to admit that part is nice! However, I have gained about 25 pounds, averaging 10 pounds per year. I work out on weekends, eat healthy and do what I can to control it, but it seems to have minimal impact. I have always been thin. I'm 5'9.5 and had been approximately 130-135 for the past 8 years. Now I'm between 155-160. Also, the weight I have put on makes me look pregnant. I have been more mellow, and my sex drive has drastically lowered."

For Birth Control "So I got this thing in June 2015, and the first month was completely normal. Before I got the insertion, I would get my period maybe three times a year, randomly and light too. After the first month, I got my period, and it hasn't stopped. It chills out for a bit, but as soon as you have sex, bam, instant period again. It's extremely frustrating. Not the kind of birth control I thought. My hair has never shed more in my life, I'm short-tempered and emotional, which isn't really normal for me. I have no sex drive, either, at all. So not only can I not have sex, I don't really want to do anything else. This little 1-inch pinch is Satan, and I recommend this to no one because you'll turn into a bleeding crazy bitch for a couple of months if you do."

For Birth Control "I’ve had Implanon and then Nexplanon back to back. I had the first one 6 weeks after having my son back in 2011. With Implanon, I bled constantly for the whole 3 years. I’d have 3 weeks on, 1 week off on my “period,” and gained like 30 lbs. I got the Nexplanon inserted in Dec 2015. Within 3-4 months, I had gained 30-35 lbs. I kept it in because I was dead set on not getting pregnant, and after all, it works great on that. Over the next couple of years, I didn’t have not one period, which was great. But along with that came the 0 sex drive, headaches, acne, and continued weight gain. Overall, I’ve gained 65 lbs while on Nexplanon. No diet changes whatsoever. I finally got it removed 2 days ago, and my body is in turmoil. I’m having the worst anxiety I’ve ever experienced, and I honestly can’t wait for my hormones to even themselves out. Overall, Nexplanon does what it’s meant to do, but each person needs to decide for themselves if the side effects are worth it."

For Birth Control "I have been on Nexplanon for 1-2 years now. When I first got it, I started bleeding extremely heavy every single day for 7 months straight, NONSTOP. My periods then went up and down from super heavy to spotting every day. Ten months in, I started having extreme, horrible pains in my lower abdomen and stomach. I was getting very bloated and having pains so bad I had to curl up in a ball. I also have extreme pain with sex. I have to stop my partner in the middle of it and got to the point where I’m terrified to have sex. Though, I rarely have a sex drive anymore and was dry or bloody anyway. Mood swings have been up and down, affecting my relationship. I now have depression, and anxiety has become worse to the point where I am on medication and my doctor suggested a therapist. I went to the ob-gyn for the stomach pain, and she said, “it’s definitely not the birth control.” I wasn't so sure. I really do not recommend Nexplanon AT ALL. Getting removed!"

For Birth Control "I'm 20, and I got Nexplanon 8 months ago. The first 6 months, I bled constantly (although it was light, it was still a huge pain in the ass), but I stuck it out because my GP said it would take 4-6 months for my body to fully adjust. I've gained about 30 lbs. I have terrible mood swings, I get angry very easily, and I also have a very low sex drive, so my relationship is suffering. Since the initial 4-6 month period, I've had terrible acne, which I've never suffered from before, and I've had discharge and regular spotting. At least it has been effective, since the weight gain, low sex drive, and acne have pretty much made me never want to have sex again, but I cannot wait to get it taken out of my arm... although I hear that's the worst bit!!"

For Birth Control "Horrible! I got the Nexplanon 2 weeks after having my daughter in April 2020, and it is now April 2021, and since giving birth, I have not stopped bleeding. In a year, I have maybe not been bleeding a total of 3 weeks. And in between bleeding, there has not been a let-up in the cramping, bloating, and extreme fatigue. I have gained weight since giving birth (I do not overeat or eat extremely unhealthy), and I am a pretty active person. I have also broken out worse than a teen, and I’m 30 years old. I am constantly either very irritable or just numb, I have zero libido, I have anxiety, and just overall unhappy! I do not recommend this to ANYONE. I have an appointment today to talk to my doctor about removal."

For Birth Control "I had Nexplanon placed a month ago, and so far it's been good. The procedure was quick and painless, lasted about 2 minutes, and I was done. It's not at all noticeable in the arm it's placed, and as far as side effects, I've experienced the light spotting that started a week ago to date, but it only requires a thin panty liner. During the first two weeks, I was very moody and emotional with no libido, but that has gone, and my body feels its regular normalcy. Once the spotting finally goes, I'll be able to say it's great (hate the spotting), but rather spot than be pregnant, and not having to remember to take a pill or suffer weight gain is a plus with Nexplanon. I've actually lost weight while on it, so all in all, I'm loving this contraceptive choice."

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon inserted at the beginning of September of last year (2018), a little over a year now. The only good thing I have experienced is that I haven't gotten pregnant and that I have only gotten my period about 2 or 3 times and without any menstrual cramps. I experienced spotting every day for the first month, but after that I got a period every few months, my last period being in May (it is now October). I have gained 35 pounds since getting the implant, and prior to that, I was actually losing weight without effort. It now feels impossible to lose any weight. I have terrible mood swings, worsening depression, panic and anxiety attacks, and am an emotional wreck quite often. I am very irritable, angry, and extremely fatigued. My sex drive absolutely disappeared, and my poor boyfriend has had to put up with all my moods because of this little stick in my arm! Not to mention it has caused me to have an increased heart rate, which is very dangerous. I'm planning to get it removed ASAP!"

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon about a year and a half ago, and I cannot wait until I get it removed. I get frequent migraines, I am having problems fighting depression and major anxiety. I have acne all over my face, my shoulders, my back, and it's even started on my stomach area. I have my period for about 3 weeks every month, and it's not just spotting; it is extremely heavy, and I have cramps constantly. My sleeping habits are way out of whack; it's either I want to sleep all day or not at all. My appetite has skyrocketed, and I feel like I can never get enough to eat, and yet I've lost a TON of weight since getting it. I have absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. I would never in a million years recommend this to anyone. I hope this gave some insight."

For Birth Control "I just wanted to share my experience on both Implanon/Nexplanon. I have been on both for a combined 5 1/2 years. I got Implanon inserted in July 09 after having my son and got it removed 4 years later and got the Nexplanon put in. Being on the Implanon was not that bad, I didn't have a period with it until 5 months before I had it removed. I didn't have weight gain, but it did cause me to not have a sex drive. I was moody, depressed, mad, and emotional, but it was bearable. Overall, I like it and it is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. Well, my experience with Nexplanon was much more different, it was horrible and I wanted it out 5 months in, but thought I would give it a chance up until I just had it removed on 12/30/2014."

For Birth Control "Had 3 Implanon implants and currently have Nexplanon in. I loved the Implanon, no real side effects, regular periods, and I managed to lose 4 st whilst on them. But the Nexplanon is another matter: brain fog, hair thinning, anxiety, depression, non-existent sex drive. I can't even bear for my husband to touch me, sore boobs to the point that it makes me cry. Now weight gain, since I had it put in May 16, I have gained 2.5 stone. I have an active job and eat healthily, no matter what I do, my weight keeps jumping up at 7 lb at a time, and I cannot shift it. I cannot wait to get it out. Please, ladies, do not have this implant!!!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Nexplanon for four months now, I got it implanted in early October. I have been bleeding every day since November 19th, it is now the first of February. I have lost all of my sex drive, which used to be very high. I have gained twenty pounds, as I have lost motivation to do almost anything. It changed my skin tremendously. I used to only have a few pimples around my cycle, but now I am almost always breaking out. Pimples used to be isolated to my chin, but they are now all over my face, neck, shoulders, and chest area. I used to be a great sleeper, I cannot remember the last time I had a full night's rest with ease. I am now heavily considering getting it removed ASAP."

For Birth Control "I've had the implant for nearly two years, and while it has done its job and kept me free of pregnancy, I've menstruated every couple of days from this thing. I menstruate at least three times a month, full cycles, not 'spotting.' My doctor told me it would even out after six months, but clearly, that didn't happen. The few times I had a week or so where I was free of blood, my next period was super heavy and lasted well over a week. It totally killed my sex drive on top of making me bleed like a stuck pig. I kept it this long out of laziness, and the idea of an IUD makes me queasy. Tomorrow it's coming out, and the IUD is going in. Queasiness aside, I'm spending a goddamn fortune on tampons and pads."

For Birth Control "If you are looking for an effective birth control, this is it. However, the side effects are horrendous. I got Nexplanon in Oct 2018. Since getting it, I have been very depressed. It has gotten to the point where I have no desire to get out of bed and go to work or school. On my off days, I'd rather just stay in my bed and sleep. I have also gained 25 lbs since getting this birth control. My sex drive has gone down and has put a strain on my relationship due to my mood swings, low sex drive, and having no desire to do anything at all. I'm looking to take this garbage out ASAP! I cannot take it anymore."

For Birth Control "I had this inserted in February 2015. Two weeks later, my period began. There has not been a single day where I haven't bled. (It is now June 2015.) I've never really had an issue with acne, I'm now breaking out constantly. Constantly irritated aren't even the words. I always feel on edge and ready to punch someone. My sex drive is nonexistent. Sure, this thing works great at preventing me from becoming pregnant. Because I bleed profusely every day of my life, and sex doesn't even cross my mind. Before this, my periods were normal flow, maybe a few days long. I cannot even afford to keep buying all these feminine products. My doctor keeps trying to get me to wait it out, but I want it removed ASAP."
