For Birth Control "I had Nexplanon implanted about a year and five months ago after a pregnancy scare. I was not on any birth control prior to this for about three years. Before the implant, I had my spouts of depression that were due to some life circumstances and were usually treatable without major treatments. After one month with the implant, I had taken a major decline in my mental health. I had suicidal thoughts, major anxiety, and awful night terrors. I ended up having to start taking antidepressants and going to see a therapist. Then I developed a binge eating disorder over the past year. I had always been conscientious about my nutrition and health, but I have now gained about 30 lbs. I have become a couch potato with social anxiety and no energy past making myself some food. It prevented pregnancy but is not worth me living in misery anymore. I am having the implant removed next week."

For Birth Control "I've had it for about 4 months now. I had it put in at my 6-week checkup after having my son. I was losing a lot of weight before I had it. Then my weight loss just stopped. I've gained so much. My sex life is non-existent. I'm constantly feeling depressed. And I have no period, I prefer to have it."

For Birth Control "Do not choose this method if you are already an overly sensitive person or may have any depression or anxiety. I would not recommend this. I am 24, and this is my second type of birth control method I tried. After I inserted it, it took me about 5 to 6 months to realize that the medicine caused me to become more sensitive, suffer depression, and anxiety. I have had about 5 panic attacks in one year and am always easily irritated and depressed. Once I got rid of it, I was back to normal. It may not be the same for all women, but this is my experience."

For Birth Control "I would not ever recommend this birth control to anyone. It was a lifesaver the first year, but since this second year, I've had issue after issue. I have horrible anxiety 24/7. When I'm not panicking, I'm crying from crazy amounts of depression. Not to include the physical changes it's done to my body. I'm constantly tired and weak. I spend almost my entire day in bed, when I normally would be up doing yoga or playing with my child. I have horrible chest pains along with palpitations that only make my anxiety worse. Plus horrible migraines, and awkwardly, I get muscle spasms all over my body, probably from stress. Please think twice before you get this. It will change your life."

For Birth Control "DON’T USE NEXPLANON. I got it on June 23rd, 2017. I will get it removed on May 8th, 2019. IDK why I waited this long. I got the BC (birth control) because I have always had really bad cramps. I would miss school when I was younger. The BC is terrible. I have mood swings, I am extremely angry, I am depressed, and I have anxiety. Almost every day I wake up, I don’t want to even wake up. I cry every day. I’m easily overwhelmed and sensitive. I’m so mean to my boyfriend. I don’t like cuddling after sex. I don’t like to be touched, but when I’m away from him, I’m constantly telling him I miss him and want to be kissed all over, but all of that changes when I actually get with him. I push people away, then complain I’m lonely. Whenever I’m mean to someone in my family, I don’t feel bad until after I’ve left them. I beat myself up for being so mean to them, and then I start crying. My boyfriend is probably more excited than I am to get this BC out, lol."

For Birth Control "DO NOT GET NEXPLANON IMPLANT!! The first few months on this, it was great, it worked well! Then after that, the side effects started. I started to get dizzy spells, and then insane anxiety and depression. I've lost a couple of jobs because of it... Even felt so dark and depressed to where I had to go to the hospital... I was so sensitive to everything and got overwhelmed by EVERYTHING. I got Nexplanon out at Planned Parenthood, and now after about 4 days, I feel a little better but not 100%. While on Nexplanon, it was the worst year of my life. I just want to feel normal again. I'm scared to do anything because of my anxiety and panic attacks. Please do not have this as your birth control, it's not worth relationships nor your mental health."

For Birth Control "I have had Nexplanon for about 4 months now, and at first, I loved it so much. But about a month ago, I experienced a panic attack while driving. I had never had a panic attack prior to getting Nexplanon put in, as well as the severity of my anxiety and depression right now. I don’t want to leave my house hardly, I cry all the time. The severe anxiety has caused so many more problems. I’m not myself, and I feel like I’m going crazy from the anxiety and depression. I'm getting it removed as soon as possible. It was effective in keeping me baby-free, though."

For Birth Control "Nexplanon = the worst mistake of my life. I had it inserted in July 2014, removed in April 2015, and I'm still dealing with the side effects today - I'm now being treated for painful cysts and debilitating cramps, and I'm convinced this drug caused them. Side effects included: prolonged/heavy periods (lasting 3-4 weeks), anemia (due to periods), recurrent yeast infections (due to periods), painful vaginal fissures (due to yeast infections), lack of sex drive, constant bloating, rapid weight gain, increased appetite, acne, irritability, extreme mood swings, anxiety, and depression (honestly, who wouldn't be depressed). If you are at all sensitive to hormonal birth control, I do not recommend this drug."

For Birth Control "This was the worst thing I have ever done to myself. I am a very happy, positive, and bright person. I laugh for no reason and have a very strong will. Nexplanon, or I'd better say hormonal contraceptive, ruined me. I turned into the most negative person on this planet. It is so hard for me to control the stream of my negative thoughts. Initially, I thought, I fight, I am strong, I can deal with this. A year-and-a-half battle and I lost it when I realized I am losing my relationship with everyone. I have been to several doctors to get medications to stop my abnormal bleedings. I had another hormonal pill that made me feel even worse. I have to admit that adding extra progesterone on top to stop my abnormal bleedings was the worst thing to do. I tried an antidepressant to help me settle, nope, I got worse. Either anxious like hell or numb and sad. Today, I decided to take this monster out of me. No more anxiety, no more tears, I want to be happy."

For Birth Control "I have had the NEXPLANON implant for eleven months now. I have always gotten my period once a month for seven days. Since NEXPLANON, my periods keep getting longer each cycle. My period started sometime in October of 2018 and is still on, and it is January 29, 2019. Enough is enough! I have lost weight and have headaches, and I’m always sad, which I believe is this NEXPLANON implant. I’m having it removed today, and I’m actually excited!"

For Birth Control "Everyone has different reactions to all different birth controls. I have been on the pill, and I gained weight and got depressed. Since being on Nexplanon, I have lost weight, have had no periods, and have been pregnancy-free. Instead of reading reviews, people should try things for themselves. Nexplanon has let me live the life I have wanted to. I never have to worry about taking a pill every day, and I don't have to worry about my period. This has been perfect for me."

For Birth Control "DO NOT USE THIS BIRTH CONTROL. For years of Nexplanon, I never had a period and became super depressed without knowing it. I was moody and had basically ZERO sex drive. I developed a nasty ovarian cyst, which burst and became infected, this took six months to heal. I started bleeding HEAVILY every day, nonstop, for eight months total. Not to mention, the depression and low sex drive NEVER went away. I couldn't take it anymore and had the implant removed. My doctors kept saying the depression wasn't related to Nexplanon, but once it was removed, I did a complete 180 the first week! My daily bleeding immediately stopped, my skin even cleared up within a couple of days. After a week, I actually wanted to have sex again, and now I feel SO much happier, it's unreal. I'm usually not one to make posts or reviews, but after my experience, I truly believe no woman should be on this birth control, it messes up your hormones so much. The point is, if I could rate this 0/10, I would."

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon inserted a little over 3 months ago, and I just scheduled an appointment to have it removed. They say you should give it a full 3 months for it to fully adjust to your body and to see how you will react. My side effects started out slow but progressively got worse and more noticeable. My whole life, I've had perfectly clear skin, and now I have cystic acne all over my chin that will not go away. I've gained 10 lbs since having it inserted, with no change to my diet or activity levels. I constantly feel depressed and have very low energy, and for the past 2 months, sex has been extremely painful. The cons greatly outweigh the pros, in my opinion, when it comes to Nexplanon, and that is why I would strongly recommend not getting it!"

For Birth Control "It was horrible, not motivation for everything! Ruining my relationship with my partner, now ex. I bled since the day I started it, November 22, since the day I got it removed, April 7. My libido was gone, I was no longer sexually interested. I was depressed, suicidal, the mood swings were so bad, dizziness, weakness, and a lot of sleeping. I felt like I would just sleep my life away, but at least I’m not pregnant. It’s different for everyone, but I 100% do not recommend."

For Birth Control "Nexplanon is killing my relationship. I got it inserted in September, had non-stop old blood coming out from down below from October to January. Went away until May, and since then, I've had to wear a R-sized tampon every day, and we are in July now. It doesn't get you pregnant, but it makes me angry, sad, irritable, and I believe extremely tired; plus, I got it so I could sleep with my boyfriend without worries. Figures, now I can't even do it because of the gross bleeding."

For Birth Control "Nexplanon was the worst decision I ever made. I got it in October, bled for 6 months straight. Got it taken out in April. Killed my sex drive. Gained 20 pounds, which I can't get rid of. I was extremely emotional and depressed. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone. It was the worst thing I've ever done to myself."

For Birth Control "I thought I would share my experience with this type of birth control, being that I have been using it for the past seven years. I was put on Implanon when I was 14, back in 2010. I bled quite heavily for the entire three years. For its convenience factor, I chose to use it again as my form of birth control when the three years were up. This time around, my periods were still heavy but seemed to level out more. Now, I'm on my third round of Nexplanon. This time has been the most stable period-wise. For seven years, I've been battling brain fog, anxiety, panic attacks, and depression off and on. I'm about to get this removed once and for all and just allow my body to detox from all of the years in hopes that I may finally feel normal."

For Birth Control "After reading these reviews, I called my once vibrant daughter, who was a college cheerleader, now a person who is depressed, anxious, had quit college because she could barely manage to get out of bed daily. Needless to say, after her speaking with her OB office, they removed it same day (within 3 hrs). Not sure how long it takes to get this out of her system, but her Nexplanon was in for almost a total of 3 years, these symptoms started around 2 years for her. She lost so much weight, looks anorexic. She had lots of workup by the doctor for stomach issues. Nothing. This product needs to be taken off the market."

For Birth Control "Do not get Nexplanon. I've been bleeding for 4 months at a stretch, and I have been so depressed since I got this. I wake up every day with a heavy heart and a mind, and I feel horrible all the time about my body, skin, and my life. I hate this thing."

For Birth Control "I wish I would have never gotten this birth control implant. I got it in April 2018, so almost a year ago. My first two months, I felt like I was pregnant: bloated, fatigued, moody, horrible acne, which I didn't have before the implant. I had normal periods, and then month three, my period went away. I loved the implant 4-6 months into it. Then I started noticing I am extremely prone to vaginal infections now. I've had vaginitis 4 times. I have extreme anxiety and depression. I cannot get myself out of bed most days and have no interest in things I enjoyed before I got the implant. I used to work out 5 days a week, and I can't make myself go anymore. I cry a lot for no reason and worry about things other people wouldn't. I had to seek help from a therapist. I have an appointment to get the implant removed. I will not recommend this birth control to anyone! Please read reviews before a year of your life has been altered like mine. It's not worth it."

For Birth Control "I got this birth control twice, and let me tell you... SWITCH YOUR BIRTH CONTROL AFTER THE FIRST TIME. First time was in 2012-2015; first time experience was great, no period, no cramps, weight gain, or weird pains, I couldn't even feel it. I developed horrible acne, but I got it under control, and I got crazy off-the-wall mood swings that I didn't realize I developed. 100% effective with me, times where I should have gotten pregnant, it never happened, not even a scare. Second time has been absolutely horrible. Mood swings went crazy, I got depression and anger issues, irregular periods that would come and go whenever it pleased, shortest one lasted about a week and a half. Needless to say, I got it removed, not even a year into it."

For Birth Control "I have been on Nexplanon for 1-2 years now. When I first got it, I started bleeding extremely heavy every single day for 7 months straight, NONSTOP. My periods then went up and down from super heavy to spotting every day. Ten months in, I started having extreme, horrible pains in my lower abdomen and stomach. I was getting very bloated and having pains so bad I had to curl up in a ball. I also have extreme pain with sex. I have to stop my partner in the middle of it and got to the point where I’m terrified to have sex. Though, I rarely have a sex drive anymore and was dry or bloody anyway. Mood swings have been up and down, affecting my relationship. I now have depression, and anxiety has become worse to the point where I am on medication and my doctor suggested a therapist. I went to the ob-gyn for the stomach pain, and she said, “it’s definitely not the birth control.” I wasn't so sure. I really do not recommend Nexplanon AT ALL. Getting removed!"

For Birth Control "I have had this birth control for one year. I got it two months after having my daughter, and I had slight postpartum depression. However, after getting this implanted in my arm, I became a whole different person. I started to get depressed, extremely anxious for no reason, and I have had horrible mood swings. I have always said I love this birth control because of how effective it was and because I haven’t had periods. I have had my period five weeks straight now. Today I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and PTSD. The PTSD is unrelated, obviously, but the birth control hormones aren’t helping at all. I have always been happy, and I’ve always laughed at everything. I haven’t had the desire to laugh since I got this BC. I’m begging the person reading this, do NOT get this birth control. My life has been hell, and I cannot wait to get this removed."

For Birth Control "I had the Nexplanon implant for about 8 years. I’ve recently had the coil fitted and the implant removed. The difference in my mood is incredible!! My whole family are unfortunately used to my moody ways and over-emotional responses (after 8 years, who wouldn’t be). I thought this was just who I was, but then I started to think timeframes and could link the end of my calmness to roughly the same time I had my first implant fitted. I did some research and found that a lot of ladies are struggling with anxiety and depression while on the implant. So, I decided to change contraceptive. It’s like having that little rod removed took away my trigger! Anxiety has calmed, and my moods have settled very quickly. My family has noticed it, and I feel it. I don’t have obsessive thoughts, I’m not on edge anymore, and I have energy! I feel so much better, I can’t stress it enough. The coil's a much better option for me and possibly for others too."
