For Birth Control "I was on this for nearly 3 years and on my 4th one, each time was different. This time I was constantly bleeding, had mood swings, felt so depressed, gained 6 stone. Just felt like eating all the time, even sometimes no matter how much I ate I wasn't getting full. Also affected my mood/personality - one day I'm shy but another day I could be really confident. Had it out yesterday and feel so much more energetic. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone at all."

For Birth Control "I only had it in for 6 months (this was about 5 years ago). Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I used to be VERY fit and healthy. The doctor recommended it to assist with period pain. Within the 6 months and still training and eating healthy, I gained over 25 kg!!! Weight I've since never been able to lose, even 5 years later! It also caused my hormones to go crazy. I felt extreme depression, crying over everything and anything, it was unbearable. I demanded to take it out as I feared becoming suicidal! Against the doctor's suggestions to wait longer for my body to get used to it, I just went somewhere else and had it removed immediately. The depression has gone away. Getting this inserted was the worst decision I have ever made."

For Birth Control "I had my Implanon inserted in October 2009 and had it removed today. At first, I was very happy, felt great, it healed super fast and easy. The skin around it did itch a whole lot. No rash, just incredibly itchy skin! The itching started about 2 weeks after the procedure when the original bruise went away and lasted for another 2 weeks. I was thinking I was allergic to it and almost had it removed, but the itching stopped just as suddenly as it started. I still had my periods, but they were irregular and not very heavy. I did gain 8 lb, not a big deal. Now, the reason I had it removed is I became SUPER emotional, always unhappy for no reason, often tired, had headaches, lost sex drive, and it just kept getting worse."

For Birth Control "This birth control has been hell for me. I've been on the shot, and I had to stop after 2 years because it drove me crazy and I started having bone issues. So I decided to get on Implanon after my daughter. I thought things were going okay, but it is not, and I really need this thing out of me ASAP. Since having this thing in my arm, I've had non-stop spotting and periods all month, no energy, mood swings, depression, dizziness on a daily basis, and I've been having tingling in my arm and legs, but especially in the arm that the implant is in. I've also experienced weight gain and sharp pains where the implant is inserted. I touch and feel it on a daily basis, and it is still in the spot the doctor put it in. I think I'll just go without birth control."

For Birth Control "Since getting the implant in, I had a few longer periods, and now I haven't gotten it for a couple of months. That has been the only advantage so far for me. I was always skinny, then gained 30 pounds from this. Being in my 20s, I was horrified. I have to get all new clothes because of mine not fitting, and I was so embarrassed to even go out. I've also never had acne before, and now I've been having major breakouts constantly. I also have no sex drive anymore, I have no energy, and I have been very depressed, which has never happened to me before. I am now getting this removed after 5 months of having it. Overall, I would not recommend this option. But of course, this doesn't happen to everyone."

For Birth Control "I had this inserted after my fourth child during my six-week check-up. I had bruising at the insertion site and discomfort throughout the entire time in my left arm. I've normally stayed the same weight throughout my pregnancies, and after, I usually lost the weight within a few months. My periods before the implant were always heavy and week-long. After the implant, they were inconsistent, spotting, and then completely disappeared. I have suffered hair loss. I gained 60 lbs from this implant!!! 60 pounds, it's horrible. I am so upset I weigh more than I did at my 9-month pregnancy weigh-in! Tried several diets. I had it from Aug 2013 to Oct 2016, horrible, horrible. If I had connected the dots sooner, I would've taken it out earlier. Please don't do it. Use condoms or abstain."

For Birth Control "I was writing this wonderful, very wordy review on this when I discovered that I have a word limit. Dang. In a nutshell: I've never had so many problems with a BC. Significant weight gain, headaches, nausea, fatigue/insomnia, no periods for months and then weeks of bleeding. The worst is the change in my mood. DEPRESSION. I couldn't no longer trust my instincts. Everyone noticed a change in my attitude. It may be a convenience to just pop a rod in your arm, but it is NOT WORTH IT. I am telling you, stay away. I cannot wait to have mine removed."

For Birth Control "I had this implanted in February of 2015. It's now August, and I've had nothing but great results. No weight gain, only loss. No breakouts, only skin clearing. I think often people blame their own behaviors on their birth control. If you take good care of yourself, eat well, and continue to work out, I wouldn't say from my experience that you have any trouble. It has migrated up my arm a little bit, but it's no problem. I haven't had my period since March! No pain or anything bad. I really enjoy this form of birth control. I recommend giving it a go if your insurance will cover it."

For Birth Control "I had gotten the implant after having my second daughter, as I was supposed to get it after my first daughter but didn't want to deal with the side effects. I had always been called fat my whole teenage life because I was a little bigger than my friends and had chubby cheeks. Although before having my daughters, I was a size 8-10. I was told that it causes weight gain, but I thought I would be able to control it. I've had it over a year now, and I've gained so much weight. Now I actually really feel fat. I always get told that I've gained weight, which has killed the confidence that I ever had. I just can't stop eating junk food. I do so much walking, yet still no weight loss."

For Birth Control "I have never had a worse experience on a birth control before, but don't get me wrong, for some people this works! But for me, my moods were totally insane, completely up and down, and I could not control my emotions. I felt constantly depressed, and my sex drive basically disappeared. On top of that, I gained 15 pounds and could not lose it. I was the heaviest I've ever been on this birth control. I really can't stress enough how much it affected me mentally, though, it was intense, and everyone around me had to go through my terrible mood swings and anger too. I personally could not recommend this to anyone because of the side effects I endured. I got the implant out 7 months later and lost the weight I had gained and started feeling better."

For Birth Control "I had Nexplanon for 3 years. The three best years of my life!!! I absolutely love this birth control. I tried the pill and depo shot. The pills, I would forget about taking them on time, which I didn't like the responsibility. The depo shot was alright. I had no more periods or cramping, but I did have mood swings. I gained over 60-something pounds in 4 years. I'm not blaming the shot! Maybe lol. My doctor recommended Nexplanon. I was hesitant, but I gave it a try. The insertion was painless due to numbing meds. The whole process took 5 minutes. Only the first month, I had back pain, but no regular periods since then. Just spotting 5 days (total) within three years. A month after getting the implant out, I got my first period (lasted about 5 days)."

For Birth Control "I have had the Implanon for the past year. For the first couple of months, I started gaining weight, but I thought it was just me. I also began to develop depression, which was strange for me because I'm usually the happy girl without mental illness. After 12 months, I got the courage to see a doctor about these issues, and the doctors have put these issues down to the Implanon."

For Birth Control "I have just taken out my Implanon about a month ago, and I had used it for 3 years and a few months. I really liked the Implanon. It worked, I didn't get pregnant. My periods were usually light and lasted a few days. I didn't have any complications. The only thing that I didn't like was that I gained 30 lbs. I felt like I was always hungry, and so I was always eating. I tried working out, but I didn't lose much weight during the first 2 years. But during the last year, it started getting easier for me to lose weight, so I'm guessing it's because the Implanon started to fade. And I also have a sister who used it. She didn't have any problems or anything, but she just gained weight. But besides that, it was good."

For Birth Control "At first, I thought this was the best thing ever. For the first year and a half, I had rare spotting, but I gained about 15 pounds. I attributed my weight gain to my diet, but after the year and a half, the bleeding became more frequent, and I changed my diet and exercised. I'm having it taken out early (about 6 months) because I am experiencing almost constant bleeding. It's unbearable. I have gained nearly 35 pounds in two and a half years, and it's impossible to lose weight. I just keep gaining and spotting all the time. Everybody is different, but I would caution anyone planning on getting this form of birth control."

For Birth Control "I have had my Implanon in for just over a month now. I have experienced NO bleeding, no pain, no weight gain whatsoever. I have retained water in my face slightly, and I am hungry ALL the time, but I have been quite strict about eating only at mealtimes and healthily because I was quite worried about weight gain due to family history of heart problems. In the first two weeks, I did experience some mood swings, but that seems to be normal now. I normally have a very high sex drive, and that hasn't changed at all. The little rod feels comfortable now. I don't even notice it unless I think about it, but for the first two weeks, it did pinch a little when I fully extended my arm, but not anymore. So far, my experience is fantastic :)"

For Birth Control "I've had my implant for about 1 month. I'm 22, I've never had kids nor have I been on birth control before. The reason I got on was because I got into a serious relationship, and well, we both aren't ready for children yet. My main concerns were the weight gain, breaking out, the spotting, and the sex drive. I was weighing 140 lbs when I got it and now weigh 135. My skin has actually been looking better than usual, and the spotting I have had is very little. And the sex drive has not changed. The only negative thing I could say is that I do feel emotional and want to cry a lot more than ever. But besides that, it's great!"

For Birth Control "The first Implanon worked phenomenally. No periods, but I did gain a lot of weight over the 3 years of having this birth control. I've had a high increase in appetite and lost energy. But I decided to get another one. I've now had the second one since September 28, 2013. And now I've been bleeding for 19 days as of today. I've lost about 15 pounds in the last 3 weeks of the bleeding. And my appetite is still increasing. I have a little more energy, but not as much as I did before ever getting the Implanon. I always have noticed that I'm kind of 'dry' down there, as before it was very lubricated. I've also noticed that I've had a lot of mood swings, and they're more often than not."

For Birth Control "I got this after my son was born! Boy, that was the worst idea ever! I've always weighed around 120. After having my son, I was 130 at my 6-week checkup, and then at my next appointment, 2 months later, I weighed 157. I have tried everything to lose weight, and nothing works! I used to love sex, and this has killed my sex drive completely, like I never feel like having sex ever. I bleed for at least 3 weeks out of the month. When I get this taken out, I'll never use this again!"

For Birth Control "If there was an option for zero stars out of ten, it would receive zero. I got this put in my arm about a year and a half ago, and since then, I have put on right around 100 lbs. I never get a period but have the worst cramps I've ever had in my life around every 3 months. I've never had acne, and now I can't get rid of it no matter how much medication I use. I am overly emotional and have the worst mood swings. My best advice: STAY AWAY FROM IMPLANON."

For Birth Control "I've had Implanon for almost 2 years now, and it's not that bad, really. I've gained 40 pounds, and even though I exercise daily, my acne got worse, sadly. When I started, I had my period for a month straight, now it's normal for the most part. I get it for 7 days instead of 3 days. My sex drive isn't really that high either, which I don't mind, but not my boyfriend. Overall, I just like the idea of how I don't have to remember to take it or anything."

For Birth Control "I've had the rod 18 months now. In this time, I've gained weight, developed anxiety that bad, I no longer have a social life. I am in pain constantly, i.e., back, tummy, headache. I'm exhausted every day. I don't even feel like a human. Also, sore breasts, irregular periods, and insomnia. Joint pain, the lot. Severe mood swings, almost bipolar type. Seriously affected me, also pain where it was. I personally wouldn't recommend, took over my whole life."

For Birth Control "I absolutely loved my Implanon, and I can't wait to get my new one put in. Even though I did gain some weight when I had my first one put in, it was no more than 5-10 pounds, but I don't blame the birth control for that. I just had my baby a year ago, and I have been waiting for the right time to get it put back in. I love it."

For Birth Control "My doctor explained everything, and I read a brochure before receiving the implant. It's a personal decision I made, and when going into it, I knew that every woman reacts to it physically and mentally differently! I wish there was a way they could tell you how your body would react to it beforehand, but they can't, lol! I recommend giving it a try, but it's not for me. I had it removed 6 months in. The number one reason why was because I bled since the day I got it put in, and that is just NO way to live. I had happy moments and really angry moments on it. I started getting acne on my face, which I'm not used to, my anxiety was off the roof, and I gained at least 15 pounds, which I didn't need considering I just had a baby at the time!"

For Birth Control "I had a love/hate relationship with the Implanon. I had it for 2 years but had to have it removed because I couldn't handle the side effects anymore. Totally does the job of preventing you from getting pregnant and loved not having to remember taking it, but OMG! The first year was great, I didn't get my period at all, but the second one was horrible. I would get my period for months and had to wear a tampon every day. It gave me mood swings, and I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster, not to mention the 25 lbs I gained. :( Just had it removed, and I already feel much better."

For Birth Control "Had mine now for about a year and a bit, and now my periods are regularly irregular. Meaning 2 weeks on and then 3 weeks off, with a random amount of time in the middle without my period (2-4 days usually). For the first week, I am quite heavy, then the second is always a mystery and changes all the time. Gained 11 kg and cannot lose the weight and am having huge self-esteem issues. My breasts are aching for weeks leading up to the weeks of my period. Wanted to get it out, but thought I would push through it. At least I'm not pregnant, I guess, hmmm."
