"I took Sprintec for 3 1/2 years consecutively, and it prevented pregnancy and cleared up my acne quite a bit. My period used to be a bit unpredictable since it wasn't on a 28-day cycle. On Sprintec, my period came VERY regularly, practically down to the hour every 28 days and only lasted the regular 5-6 days (normal for me). I stopped taking it to get pregnant, which happened 6 weeks after I stopped taking Sprintec, and I have a healthy baby girl. I breastfed for the full first year, so I was on the 'mini' pill. Last night was my first night back on Sprintec. I forgot to eat anything with it and woke up at 4 A.M. throwing up. 7 hours later, I'm fine and it works great otherwise. Just take it right before or after eating a full meal."

"Horrible experience. I was on Sprintec for a little over a month. I always had a headache and felt nauseous once I began taking it. One day out of the blue, I had serious shooting pains in my stomach, and it turns out I developed a cyst on my right ovary (never had this problem before). The doctor told me that it looked like the cyst had been there for about a month. Mind you, I just started taking the medicine a little over a month ago. I do not recommend. I normally don’t leave reviews, but I needed to share my experience and hope this helps!"

"I've been on Sprintec for almost 3 years now (I'm 19), and I love it! I've never tried anything else, but this seems to work perfectly. I started taking it for acne, which it does help with, but no one's skin will ever be perfect. I still have small breakouts. I've never been pregnant, so it definitely works for its intended purposes! I've never gained weight on Sprintec. My breasts have never been really swollen or painful from my pills like some people experience (although I'd be alright with them growing a size) haha. I do think they impact your sex drive, though. I find it difficult to become 'naturally' ready for sex. I always have to use lubricants. Other than that, I recommend Sprintec!!"

"I've been taking this birth control for 5 years and love it. I never had any side effects. I took Loestrin first and hated it, bad mood swings and increased appetite, so I immediately switched to Sprintec and was completely happy. I recently had to switch to a new pill due to spotting between periods."

"Pros of this pill were that my skin cleared up completely within four months, and I didn't get pregnant! Had some nausea and mood swings in the first few months, but nothing crazy. Unfortunately, this birth control caused one more serious side effect for me called vaginal atrophy. I saw three gynos before seeing a specialist who determined that Sprintec made my estrogen drop and the vaginal tissue was atrophying. Yikes. Had lots of infections, pain, itching... super not fun and now I'm off it. If you start having these symptoms after being on it for a month or two, then just stop taking it and save yourself the trouble."

"I've been taking Sprintec for a month now. The first week and a half I started taking it, I had the worst mood swings (crying profusely, suicidal thoughts, depression), but that was it really. Those feelings only lasted that long. The only times I felt nauseous was if I didn't eat a meal at all before or after taking the pill. (I believe if you eat a good-sized meal right before or right after taking it, you'll be fine). My breasts feel slightly sore and are a bit more rounded and full now (which I'm curious to see if they get to another cup size, me being a 32A right now). I feel like this pill is effective and the side effects are mild and not too bad."

"This is my first birth control, and I've been on it for almost two years. It has helped my acne a little bit, but I'm also on acne medication. Weight gain has been maybe 5-7 pounds. The only thing I really don't like about this birth control is it gives you symptoms as if you were pregnant, even if you are not, and they come mainly one to two weeks before my period. Periods are always consistent. Other than everything bad, it's doing its job at not allowing me to get pregnant, so that's good!"

"This birth control saved my skin!!! I wish I could upload pictures on this site. My skin was broken out all the time on my cheeks and chin before taking Sprintec. After 4 months, my skin is almost completely clear. It got worse in the first month, but I stuck with it, and it slowly got better over time. I am so glad I stuck with it because my skin is the clearest it has been in years. I am 30 and have been dealing with adult acne for the last 5 years. I tried everything else, and this is the only thing that worked. If you are trying this for acne, stick with it for at least 3 months, even if it gets worse in the beginning because it's totally worth it."

"This medication makes me sick to my stomach. I have to take this pill at night or I'll be nauseous the whole time I'm at work. I went out of town one weekend and forgot my pills, so as soon as I got home, I took two to catch up (in the morning)-worst mistake of my life. I ended up throwing up at my desk. Besides the disgusting effect this medicine has on my stomach, it's okay. It's cheap, it definitely works, and if you can figure out the right time for you to take the medicine and always remember to take it, I don't think you'd have any problem. The nausea is bad though (to me), I actually feel sick at this moment, and I know it's from the pill I had to take this morning. I actually got on here to see if it's just me. I don't see as many posts about getting sick from this pill, but it's my worst side effect."

"I love this pill! I wasn't sure I was going to be able to remember and keep myself on track with the one pill a day, but I set an alarm on my phone and have no problems. I've experienced a lot of weight gain (need to move up bra size, went up a size in jeans & shirts), but I'm happy about that because I was at 87 lb in a month of taking it, I went to 102 lb. My periods are light, I've never really had cramps, so I can't say anything there."

"I have used this birth control for months now, and I honestly like it. The first week I used it, it gave me really bad suicidal thoughts and made me deeply depressed. I cried mostly every night and at work. But after that week, I was totally fine except I started having really bad headaches. But every birth control comes with symptoms that only last a week or two, and you're totally fine for the rest of the months, depending on if your body accepts it or not. I don't really have acne, I haven't gained weight, my boobs look fuller, and I haven't gotten pregnant yet. Also, my period was heavy in the first month, but through the second and third month, it gets lighter and lighter, as well as the cramps. I love it. Just have a good diet, vitamins, and exercise."

"I'm 20 years old. I've been taking Sprintec for a year and a half and have no complaints. It was my first birth control med. Lighter and shorter periods, no pregnancies, bigger breasts, and no beginning side effects for me. Insurance now covers it!"

"I really like this birth control! It’s my first time ever using any type of birth control. In the early months, I did experience some pretty bad breakouts. They would be large red bumps that weren’t pimples but right under the skin. Once that bump would go away, another bump would pop up. This went on for a month or so. Now my skin is flawless, I would totally recommend this birth control. You do have to give it some time to regulate with your body! I often have sex while on this birth control and have not experienced any pregnancy scares. My period cramps are less intense but still there, along with my period. I don’t experience any super bad mood swings. I have been able to lose weight with the help of diet and exercise while taking this birth control."

"I've been on this birth control for about 5 months. It is the first one I've ever tried, and my only negative complaint was that it made me very sad. I cried about everything in the first 2 months of taking this pill. My face is a lot clearer and looks better than ever. My periods last 3-4 days, which happens to be normal for me. I've never had any spotting during my active pills. I think this is a good birth control, but every birth control is different for everyone. I'm happy with this one."

"If I had rated it during my first 1-3 months, it most likely would have been a 3 or 4 at best. I had weight gain, increased acne, moodiness, and bloating, oh, the bloating! I stuck with it, and I am really happy I did. Over the last six months, I’ve dropped the weight, my skin has cleared, and although I still get a little moody before my period, I think that’s pretty normal whether on BCPs or not. I take it religiously, and it is the only form of birth control I use in my committed relationship. I have had no pregnancy scares. Bonus: FREE on my insurance, which is truly a blessing because I was paying $150 a month for Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo (which was a horror story for me). If this pill gives you problems in the beginning, consider waiting them out, because for me, it truly did get better each month."

"I have been using this birth control for over a year, and it has proven to be perfect. The first 3 weeks I was taking it, I had pretty bad mood swings, but this is expected, and they quit happening around the time I started my second cycle of pills. I had irregular periods and bad cramping; both of those problems were fixed once again by the second month of pills. My flow was much lighter for a shorter amount of days (and you still have a period every month, which allows your body to still clean itself out). As a contraceptive, it is my only method of birth control, and I'm not pregnant yet, so it's doing its job there. Never had acne, but I break out less often. Basically, this is a great pill."

"I have been on this birth control for about 3 or 4 years and love it! It is my only form of birth control, and I haven't gotten pregnant yet. I was on a different pill for three months, and it gave me horrible cramps and headaches, and once I switched back to Sprintec, they went away."

"I started taking this medication to help control bleeding. It worked great for stopping that, but I traded in the bleeding for severe cramping. I cramp off and on throughout the day. The cramps feel like I am going through a really bad period. The pain will stop me in my tracks, and I have to hold myself or bend over to help ease the pain."

"I've been on Sprintec since last August, and it's been great! My breasts got larger, and I haven't had any pregnancy scares. My period only lasts about three days, and it's not heavy. I would recommend it."

"Sprintec threw me into a deep depression and made my panic disorder flare up. It got so bad that I lost my job. I’m now back on antidepressants after successfully being off them for a year. While on this pill, I started taking the Xanax that my doctor prescribed two years ago and hadn't needed to use! I almost never had to take my Xanax until I started using this pill. I only took the Sprintec for 2 1/2 months. I wanted to try to stick it out and go three months like some reviews suggested, but I can’t afford taking the chance that it might not get better. If you have battled with depression or panic attacks in the past, I would avoid this birth control! Turned my life upside down."

"In the beginning, my acne immediately cleared up. I've never had clear skin in my life! My breasts are larger, and I've had a little weight gain, but I'm SO emotional, and I have little to no sex drive, which has its effects on my husband and me. It's cheap, and insurance covers it. I'd keep taking it if I didn't have issues with my lack of desire for sex."

"Before I had another birth control, and my hormones were through the roof and made me depressed really bad. I switched to this brand because of a lower dose of hormones. So far, this brand is working for me! (NO baby yet.) I have been using this for about half a year, if not a year already. I had missed periods, very late periods, and mild mood swings (nothing major) though. Acne is pretty bad, which I don't like about it. My appetite decreased majorly. I lost so much weight because of it. (Even if I eat regularly.) I'm 21 years old and was 123 lbs, now I'm 116.5 lbs exact. My sex drive increased a little bit that I noticed, but pretty much the same, I think. Other than that, this brand works for me."

"I'm getting married and was prescribed Sprintec as a form of birth control. The side effects seem to run the gamut from 'it gave me terrific mood swings!' to 'I was so sick!' I seem to be fortunate in that I experienced absolutely no negative side effects. My sex drive has increased slightly, but otherwise, my body tolerates it extremely well."

"This is my first birth control I have ever taken. I am 28. I am on it due to severe endometriosis. I am on my 4th pack in the first week in. My periods went from having severe bleeding with large clots and mucus for 8 days to now having a lighter period with few clots for 5-6 days. I noticed the first packet I was nauseous. I don't have much of an appetite, and I haven't gained weight, in fact, it helped the severe bloating I had. My hormones before were horrible, I was severely depressed and cried every night. Now I don't cry and am happier. I noticed my breasts are tender every day though more so when I have my period. I still get a little moody on my period, but it is manageable. It also helped my pelvic pain a bit from the endometriosis."

"I have been on Sprintec for almost 3 months now. It's the only pill I've ever taken. My periods are much less painful (no cramps) and shorter (a few days). I have noticed that I cry a lot more over the silliest things, which I think is because of this pill. I have also noticed breast tenderness most days, and they seem to be growing a little. I have not gained any weight, but then again, I am relatively thin and have never been prone to weight gain."
